Age:
280, mental age 56
Gender:
Male
Q: Regular or Irregular?
->A: Regular
Species:
Human
Appearance:
A tall man of about 6 feet in height, Azazel has long, straight, snow-white hair. Parts of his hair is styled to resemble wings, and are tipped with yellow. It seems to be natural. He is often dressed in a black jacket and combat pants, with steel-tipped boots, and wears a navy-blue waterproof cloak above his clothes. It keeps him decently warm when he needs to be. He has yellow eyes, and are often remarked to resemble those of a hawk's.
Personality:
Though he wishes dearly to join his daughter and his wife, he has a part to play yet, and climbs ever forwards, hoping to one day, reach that end.
Azazel is a calm man whose only care in the world is to climb the Tower, and to plant a flower there in his daughter’s name. He humbles himself amongst others, caring not for names and titles. Hailing from Great Families or no, he does not bother, taking special care to empathise with those around him. However, he treats those younger than he, appearance-wise or age-wise, with a certain flair that comes with age, hoping those harboring dark or rash intentions would calm down, and praises, almost patronisingly, those who have their heads on straight.
He abhors discord, and advocates teamwork. He curses the competitive nature of the tests, and has been observed to attempt to band others together or to arrive at an agreement. There are, of course, times where this idealogy of his falls apart. He dislikes the idea of combat itself, and prefers to utilise his skills and abilities to support his team or others.
In essence, Ariran Azazel is a just a man, nothing more, nothing less.
Position:
Lightbearer
Affiliation:
Neutral
Abilities and skills:
Swordsmanship: Azazel is an accomplished swordsman, though he favours lighter, faster swords than the main family. Even without utilising the abilities of Arie swordsmanship, Azazel wields his sword with profound skill, being able to draw and cut at unfathomable speeds.
Arie Swordsmanship: Glory Be: Azazel wields a variant of his main family’s swordsmanship. While overall less destructive and explosive in nature, Azazel’s Shinsoo-imbued slashes are faster and are still capable of marring any ground it touches. Glory Be’s techniques are far calmer than the usual Arie fare, and focus on balance above destructive ability.
--Caper Emissarius: A slash that creates three fast-moving slashes that have some homing capability that chase after a target at a certain trajectory.
--Apompaios: A technique that sends a ‘mother’ forward-moving slash across the field, which proceeds to create multiple other slashes across its length, increasing its area of effect after its initial release. Easily one of Glory Be’s stronger attacks that can cut down unsuspecting opponents with ease.
--Grigori Firebrand: Azazel fires forth a beam of Shinsoo from the tip of his sword forth, extending his sword’s reach manifold. He can swing his sword during this short period of time to slash at a wider range if the beam does not hit his opponent the first time.
Lighthouse Control: Azazel is capable of controlling four lighthouses at any given time, and is skilled in their use, having exhibited the ability to change the trajectory of a Spearbearer's spear by manipulating the Shinsoo concentration with his Lighthouses. Azazel is also proficient enough that he can control his Lighthouses while in the midst of combat, allowing him to set up traps while executing his techniques at the same time, though only within his perceivable range of effect. That said, he often bumbles when it comes to the more trending uses of the Lighthouses.
10,000 Frozen Nights: Utilising two to four lighthouses, he is able to form an area of effect in the shape of a triangle or a quadrangle and halt any persons, projectile, and even certain Shinsoo techniques for a few seconds. The timing depends on multiple factors, including the number of lighthouses (the more, the better), the area of effect (the smaller, the more potent), the target’s Shinsoo resistance, as well as a technique’s amount of Shinsoo.
Shinsoo resistance:
Very high
Weapons (if any) +their capabilities:
Budeuleounson (Tender Hands): Supposedly a B-rank Ignition Weapon granted to Azazel from...someone he doesn't quite remember. It is reluctant to reveal its true nature to its current wielder. Nevertheless, Azazel wields it with much grace and ability. It resembles a long, single-edged sword, with a two-handed hilt to match. The blade itself is as long as Azazel is tall. Its make seems cheap, but it is sturdy and sharp enough to slice through concrete. Coupled with Arie Swordsmanship, it is a weapon that is capable of cleaving through defenses. It once belonged to his daughter, and was given to him after her death.
Armor Inventory: Azazel possesses a C-rank white Armor Inventory that is shaped like the wing of a falcon. Like his strange hairstyle, it is tipped in yellow. There is an attachment on its underside that allows Azazel to clip his sword’s scabbard onto, allowing him to store his sword or its scabbard out and inside combat respectively. Its relatively strange wing-like appearance grants a weird coverage of protection. It is a family hand-me-down. Even he doesn't know of its origins.
Lighthouses: Azazel has six Lighthouses in total, but seems to be only able to utilise a maximum of four at any time. The four that he mainly uses are yellow in colour, while the remaining two are a bright pink, possibly once belonging to someone else.
History:
Azazel lost his wife to childbirth, and, later, his daughter to the Tower. The man, himself, had never been interested in climbing the Tower, content with the life he had. Headon had come to him multiple times in his life- each time laying on his feet the opportunity to climb the Tower. Each time, Azazel refused, much to the chagrin of his own family. Azazel was never one for the challenge of the Tower. The idea didn’t scare him as much as it did discomfort him. He didn’t WANT to climb the Tower. He was happy with his life.
And so, Azazel led his life. He loved, he married, he lost, he grieved, and then found happiness once more in his daughter. Headon came to him again and again, but still he refused. He was content in raising his daughter to become a wonderful lady, praying that one day she would be destined for great things. He entertained her with the idea of becoming a Princess, or one of the top Rankers, though deep down, he wondered if he would truly let her go.
Headon came again, and this time, it wasn’t for him. Headon now chose his daughter to climb the Tower. Though it pained Azazel to see her go, he let her decide, and she left to climb the Tower. He gave her the most expensive parting gifts that money could buy, just to ensure that she would be able to climb the Tower with relative ease, and gifted her Budeuleounson. She swore to return with pride, in her father’s name.
She never did. For the second time in his life, Azazel grieved. For all the glory she could have brought back, what Azazel truly wanted was his daughter back. He cursed himself for his foolish decision to let her go, and his mind was lost to darkness, confining himself to his bedroom, and eating little, hoping that death would take him.
In this darkness, Azazel was once more approached by Headon. He offered the sorrowful man a chance to make sure that his daughter’s dream was realised. Azazel was quiet for a long while, but Headon already knew the answer. Returning his daughter’s items to him, Headon brought the man into the Tower. He would climb it for her. He would lay his last respects for her at the highest floor, and only then would he be released from this pain of his.
