Advice/Help Characters, roleplay Question for this website?

Alright I'm a pretty new here like fresh and I'm trying to read everything I can, but I'm not sure how everything works here? Because I came from mostly Amino, but I wasn't sure if I should post this here or the roleplay questions? But it's not really about roleplay I just don't know how to just jump in and not look like a fool.

So if I have a original character do I post it somewhere? So people can find it, or do I have one and keep it to myself and use it for a roleplay? Like do most roleplay host have you feel out a sheet and use a original character as you go? And I only join roleplays that are recruiting right? I don't just join a regular discussion roleplay because there going already because there plot is going already right? I'm very new and wanna jump right in but I know there are steps and rules.

So the interest check section is where you go first. In those forums you can read titles and tags and decide if you're looking for dice, fandoms, 1 x 1, generic group roleplays and so much more.

And yes when you join a new group, unless they are using Canon characters like Zeus or Naruto as an example, you will have to make a new oc. The host or game master(gm) will tell you what he is looking for and if the plot, premise and character rules all check out. You ask to join and write up a brand new character.

People recycle new oc's all the time. However if you are playing a medieval setting, then a modern looking anime character will not work. And vice versa.
