One Piece: A Race to the End is a fandom alternate universe roleplay that follows three unique pirate crews on their journey across the Grand Line. Their adventures will cross, they will intertwine, but only one captain can be named King of the Pirates at the end of it all. Does that make it a competition? Well, that depends on whether or not they all want the title.

What is This?
This page contains additional rules and requirements for players seeking to create characters that are marines. The first thing that will be made known is that the player controlled marine system is a TRIAL SYSTEM. For now, the rp will be trying it out and working through it and it is subject to change or vanish at any time. Complaints in regards to changes or elimination will not be tolerated. Below are the additional rules. Please note that everything in The Pirate Code still applies and all these rules are in addition to the ones listed there.

Rules and System Explanation
  1. Player controlled marines are not intended to become main characters for any player.

  2. Player controlled marine characters will not constantly be present or active within the IC. The system will work in such a way that when your created marine is needed for something plot related, you will receive a PM with the orders for your submitted marine telling you where your character received orders to go and what they were asked to do.

  3. Player controlled marine characters will only be used when any one of or more of the three main crews the story follows encounter marines. Seeing as marines will not be in every story arc, there will not always be opportunities for players to utilize their created marines. Similarly, not every player controlled marine will be sent in every time one crew encounters marines.

  4. Any player asking when they are going to get to use their marine character will have their marine character promptly deleted and any further submissions will be automatically declined. The story follows pirates, not marines.

  5. The higher your requested rank, the more detail and originality the CS requires. You may not submit a character with a rank higher than Captain, and the only captains accepted will be those that are evidently highly thought out. If you only write the minimums for length, the highest rank you will receive is a Petty Officer.

  6. Anytime a player controlled marine engages a player controlled pirate in combat, the result of the combat if not agreed upon between the players involved will be up to GM discretion with NO ARGUMENTS accepted on either side.

  7. As this is a trial system, there is a limit of one marine per player.

  8. To create a marine character, post the character's CS. In the title, include the term Marine in brackets before the name of the character.

Warrant Officer Homura (Marine)
Full Name: Homura Wakazuchi

Nickname: Dr.Waka

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Physical Description: Long, straight black hair, slanted black eyes, and fair skin, Homura has the typical features one would expect from a person of Wano descent. He is typically seen in a white doctor’s coat when he’s working. When he’s not working, his normal attire consists of a poet shirt, brown vest, and red cravat. His ears are pierced due to the time he spent with the Gentlemen Pirates.

latest

Height: 5’11’’

Personality: An easy going and “nice” guy, Homura prefers not to fight if he can help it. He’d rather talk (weasel) himself out problems. Search for easy answers rather than trying too hard (lazy). He’s the sort that likes to just go with the flow and see where that takes him. A positive thinker. An open-minded individual. He is polite/kind, if not somewhat playful, to everyone he meets whether they be friends or enemies, human or otherwise. To a doctor like him, all life is the same and valuable.

He absolutely hates the concept of seppuku that originated in his country.

His general gentle demeanor belies the fact that he is hardcore when it comes to health and taking care of one’s body. He also enjoys scaring the rough n’tough seamen with needles and nasty concoctions (that are actually good for them) more than the regular nice guy would.

Homura has an interest in Captain Draven’s anemic skin condition, which is a result of true malpractice in his mind. He is motivated by whatever interests him at the time. Given his lack of apparant dedication, and airy personality, some wonder how he even managed to finish medical school. Yet he did, which also suggests a deep interest in medicine.

Homura doesn’t have much going on for him ambition-wise. As long as he can practice medicine in a manner that he prefers, he is content.

Likes: dogs, tea, the smell of herbs, reading medical journals, making people feel better, practicing acupuncture, cherry blossoms.

Dislikes: violence, fighting, seeing people in pain, death, cigarettes, working hard, people who give up on life.

Personal Strengths: Friendly, patient, caring, clever.

Personal Flaws: Passive, lazy, ambition-less, weak-willed (for those with Conqueror’s Haki, he’s a prime target, hands down). He has nothing he's willing to give his life for.

Rank: Warrant Officer.

How do they fight?

Homura doesn’t get ask to fight very often and prefers not to, but if he has to defend himself Homura uses a variant of Akido, the purpose of which is to limit the damage of his opponents and consider their safety. Knowledge of the body’s pressure points, due to his study of eastern Wano medicine as well as acupuncture, makes it so he can stop an opponent in their tracks if he hits the right spot with enough force (probably won’t work against robots and such). Throws, turns, and joint locks are his forte (essentially what he taught Geraldo while he was a pirate). That along with concepts like using the opponent’s strength against them makes him a fairly defensive fighter whose best against an opponent that just charges recklessly.

Worse come to worst, he does have a pistol loaded with anesthetics/ tranquilizer darts for patients that won’t hold still. He also knows how to make poisons and such, but personal code of conduct won’t allow him to use a dosage that could kill a person in combat unless absolutely necessary. In battle, he primarily serves as the healer and helps the medic unit with the injured.

Weapons / Possessions:

Syringes, needles, and darts laced with tranquilizing solution.

A small-4 round pistol(which he loads with syringes/darts)

Backstory:

Born in the country of Wano to a couple of martial artists from a dojo, Homura’s path took him a different path than his parents. Watching his parents beat people black and blue, Homura decided he wanted to focus on healing those injuries instead. Fast forward to his early twenties, he passed his medical examination and obtained a Wano doctor’s license. However, the bright-eyed doctor quickly learned of the corruption/politics, that took place in the field. More specifically, Wano’s hospitals. After a heated argument with the head of the Wano Doctors’Association regarding one of his patients, Homura’s license was revoked and he was accused of ‘malpractice’.

Unable to practice his field in Wano, Homura broke the law and escaped his isolationist country. However, no matter where he went, a doctor without a license wasn’t trusted and work was hard to find (illegal actually). He didn’t have the money to study again either. Therefore, it was no surprise that he turned to piracy. Pirates didn’t care whether you had a license or not. Thus his encounter with the Gentleman Pirates. He was with them for 4 years, as the crew’s doctor, until they came across a ghost ship.

He doesn’t know what happened afterwards.

When he woke up again, he was on a marine ship, having been fished out of the water by the infamous Captain “Bloodsucking” Draven of the South Blue. Naturally, Homura attempted to talk his way out of jail. His bounty wasn’t especially great and he hadn’t really committed any crime besides becoming a pirate (and leaving Wano) either. Fortunately for him, the man’s personal doctor had recently retired and Draven valued skills more than background.

Months of proving himself to the crew, protecting the seamen from sickness and tending to the captain’s anemic skin condition, earned him an official warrant from the anti-social Captain who stated (quote):

“You’re at least more competent than the rest of these muscle-brained dunderheads in my crew.”

He was also promised an official doctor's license that would allow him to practice medicine anywhere within the World Government’s jurisdiction if he served the marines for a number of years.

Full Name:
Lucas Rackham
Nickname:
Goes by either Luke or just Rackham, generally the second.
Gender:
Male
Age:
25
Physical Description:
Luke is normally described as a tall young man with a lean yet well-built body and fairly handsome features, with a fairly symmetrical face and a skin that seems to miraculously maintain a ridiculously pale tone in spite of his years as a Marine - to the point of raising discussions about him being possibly albino, though he denies such claims. Further likening his appearance to an albino, he has a naturally white colored hair that is normally left at medium length, reaching all the way down his nape, and his eyes are indeed red, though both of those seem to be remarkably different from what you'd expect from an albino, with his hair being remarkably opaque and the tone of his eye color being closer to crimson than light red.
Height:
6'1"
Personal Details

Personality:
To most who had the displeasure to work under him, Luke leaves a mark as perhaps the most dismissive, shallow, self-absorbed and egotistical person in the whole marine corps, lacking any semblance of discipline or self-respect as he wastes his time away either drinking or engaging in other less than adequate pastimes instead of properly doing his job, often coming off as a sort of cocky layabout that at his best occupies himself with ignoring most of his duties and mercilessly delegating his paperwork to subordinates while sitting idly at his desk with an amused smile on his face as he procrastinates. Be it his natural irreverence and constant sarcasm or his insensitive, his incapacity to filter his words even one bit and apparent indifference to whatever people try to put in his massively stubborn head, it is undeniable that Luke totally deserves his reputation as an absolute jerkass that can't even put aside complaints and poisonous comments even when he does try to be helpful for anything other than beating pirates.

While that alone may seem like more than enough to make most of his subordinates wonder how in hell Luke achieved a relatively high position with such a work ethic, for those who have been following him for a long time it isn't hard to figure out what brought him to such lengths: Though he hides it well behind a veil of cynicism and self-importance, Luke is ultimately a remarkably capable tactician and fighter, having not only remarkable battle sense but also a penchant for finding situations where there's glory and military notoriety to be gained and a talent for taking advantage of those. Additionally, while his bad reputation is quite well known by the local marines, he's quite the charismatic figure in the eyes of civilians due to his seemingly incessant fight against pirates and criminals as a role - even though that is just a side effect of his promotion-seeking mindset that drives him into trying to earn recognized whenever possible - and saves no effort when it comes to further developing this image of a friend of the general populace by any means possible as popularity is a path towards the top as valid as any other.

Truth being said, though, it isn't as if Luke is inherently an asshole or anything like that. In the end, even though his troubled childhood made it so the boy is remarkably wary of those around him and prone to act in a selfish manner, he still does have a soft side - especially for those he considers as weak - and undoubtedly has quite the strong sense of justice, merely lacking the capacity to demonstrate that often hiding his suggestions and compliments behind the veil of sarcasm and criticism that became natural to him after years of using it to hide any semblance of weakness. By nature he isn't especially cruel - merely being a bit too lazy for his own good and not exactly having the qualifications you'd expect from a captain due to his abnormal upbringing - and does indeed care for his subordinates and companions quite a bit, to the point of thoughtlessly putting his life in the line for their safety without a second thought when needed. Additionally, while he's mostly far from what you'd expect from a dedicated marine, he does ultimately give quite the importance to his duty, following his own sense of justice to unimaginable lengths, being remarkably proactive when it comes to defending civilians - to the point where he won't even think twice before going against direct orders if they put innocents in harm's way - and remarkably contrarian to the world's government treatment of other species and tacit allowance of slavery, though fonder of the idea of changing the system from inside rather than openly challenging the government.

How do they fight?
Fitting his overall lazy personality, Rackham's fighting style is remarkably straightforward, consisting mostly of hard martial arts that make use his abnormal strength coupled with his ability to use all Rokushiki to a reasonable level - with Tekkai being the only one who was compatible enough with him for him to keep progressing after leaving the training camp, reaching the level where he actually move while using it - to directly exchange blows and overpower his enemies in a direct exchange of blows not unlike what is seem in Shaolin fist techniques though considerably rougher in execution, not leaving a close range until the target is down for good.

He is especially fond of fist techniques, hardly ever making use of his legs for anything other than footwork, and seems to have a moderate achievement in boxing, though he most often than not fails to properly demonstrate a stance of the style, being especially proficient in Koppojutsu, focusing on targeting his opponents' skeletal system through hard blows to deal considerable damage and cause even more pain, with his main focus being compromising his opponent's ability to react and think properly under the debilitating effects of his blows - surprisingly showing a lot more effectiveness when it comes to crippling and capturing his targets than to actually kill targets, though he does seem to have the practice needed to employ deadlier techniques. In enemies that do resist against this kind of tactic, though, Rackham isn't above simply using his sheer brute strength to pummel down the target without paying attention to what exactly he's hitting, at most choosing to hit something that looks vaguely vital.

Weapons / Possessions:
Kokuri - A pair of plain black glove-styled seastone infused cestus given to him by his superiors for the sake of suppressing potential devil fruit users amongst both the pirates hunted by him and his own subordinates, nowadays only used to enhance the damage of his blows when necessary due to his demotion to much quieter surroundings. Generally only worn occasionally due to his tendency of completely forgetting about its existence.

Backstory

From the get-go, the Rackham Family was never a normal one. Having a history of producing brilliant descendants in the fields of engineering and ship making and blessed with a first generation cunning enough to pass down rules that put emphasis in registering and keeping the blueprints and techniques needed for the production of the unique gadgets, weapons and ships produced by the family's descendants safe from outsiders, it was only obvious that the Rackham family was bound to grow absurdly and develop close ties amongst the world government and those positioned against it alike, growing to prominence in a frightening pace since its first generation founded the current precepts a 100 odd years ago and developing a remarkable reputation even amongst the high tiers of the world government in the process as multiple of their family members decided to join their ranks.

It was in the main line of such a proud household that Luke was born not as an engineering genius or anything of the like but as an eccentric child with a naturally odd appearance and a brute strength that surpassed that of adults before he even started to speak, failing to achieve even the most basic standard of technical capacity accepted by the family as he grew up, lacking the dexterity that was needed to effectively handle delicate machinery and showing no signs of the technological ingenuity needed for creating new projects, and even going as far as developing a remarkably bad reputation as his innate advantage only worked when it came to wrecking the delicate pieces of machinery that could be seen all around in the main house's residence - something that quite obviously didn't quite help him with making the members of the family fond of him.

It was under such circumstances that, at age 11, Luke was ultimately chosen by the family to join one of the world government's multiple training grounds, made into a glorified bargaining chip as part of a deal that meant to bring the family closer to the World Government and sent to become a member of the multiple organizations that worked as their hands and ears in the common world due to lacking the sensitive knowledge that prevented other members from being able to simply leave the family with ease and join other organizations. It was at that moment that, for the first time, Luke understood that family and strength didn't matter for anything in face of the earning of benefits for those in a position of authority, and it was also there that for the first time the desire for the power that comes with a high enough position started to grow inside his heart.

Luckily for him, though, the old men who ruled the family unknowingly gave him the perfect place to grow and earn this authority that he wanted, for all that mattered in the training camps of the world government was individual power: The strength of the agents was the most important thing for them to be effective as the hands of the government, after all, so it was only obvious that those who had it where the ones that earned all the benefits and praise, and if there was one thing that Luke always had it was sheer physical prowess. Under such circumstances, it was only obvious that the originally already gifted Luke grew stronger and stronger under the merciless training of the world government, going as far as to actually get assigned to the training camp of the CP9 at age 10 due to showing promising enough abilities, receiving a focused training for the following few years.

It was only by age 16 that Luke was ultimately dismissed from the government service not out of incompetence or anything of the like but for the whims of a visiting world noble, who randomly decided to visit the training grounds for whatever reason and seemingly randomly decided that he didn't want Luke and a couple others to be there, throwing a tantrum and demanding their immediate dismissal and being promptly obeyed by the commanding official of the training camp - something that would later become the main cause for Luke's dislike for the world government as a whole, as it clearly pointed out the insanity of centering a government around people who did nothing to deserve their position of power, merely relying on birth to get to the top. Following this dismissal, he was - by the mercy of the commanding agent, who felt that it would be a shame to get rid of such a valuable potential asset - inducted into the Marines, directly assuming the position of lieutenant commander at the headquarter after merely 2 years of training due to both his previous experience and the need to keep a watch over him in case he demonstrated traitorous tendencies.

From there on, Luke didn't even think twice before directly deleting any thoughts of vengeance and earnestly doing his job for the sake of progressing even further in the hierarchy, taking the change of organization as only a slight obstacle in his road to power and only using it to motivate himself to go even further down the ranks. Unfortunately for him, though, his past made his progress through the ranks remarkably harder than it could've been as, in spite of whether he demonstrated it or not, having been in conflict with a world noble before was far from what his superiors would consider a reassuring point, making his progress through the hierarchy unbelievably slow in spite of the multiple achievements that he presented and freezing his rank into that of a lieutenant commander for a whole 7 years before finally having no choice but to take his achievements in question and finally confer to him the rank of captain... Outside of the headquarters.

Just like that, he suddenly found himself stuck in a base past the blockade as the resident captain, unable to earn any achievements due to the lack of incoming prominent pirates from the blues generated by the latest plan to stop piracy and the fact that those who already actuated past the blockade were mostly the ones too weak to meet the paradise standard and were forced to stay around in the bottom of the well, unable to provide him with even a bit of recognition when captured - thus locking him into an eternal cycle of only doing the bare minimum to keep the base running and the civilians relatively safe while desperately waiting for a miracle trying to find a way to once more be assigned to the headquarters.

Character Strengths:

  • Perfectionist
  • Loyal
Character Flaws:
  • Can be rather Self-Absorbed
  • Judgmental
  • Stickler for Rules (laws)
  • Blunt
  • Hesitant to Trust People
Personality: Natalia comes off as a rather cold and brash women. She has little filter when it comes to stating her opinion about someone being honest to a fault. She prides herself in her fashion sense and her fine tastes, being quite expensive in general to please when it comes to the food she eats or the wine she drinks. She attempts to show others respect, although her rather brash choice of words might come off as the opposite. Despite viewing herself highly, she is a perfectionist and tries to continuously improve herself. She tends to approach problems in a more analytical manner, taking in details to try and come up with the best solution. She has a deep seeded desire to protect the weak, viewing it her duty as someone 'above' them to keep them safe. She is extremely loyal to her home nation in particular and those who she might develop a close bond too, though she will act in way that might go against their wishes if she views it best for them.

Natalia can be rather egotistical believing herself to be better then others with very few she considers highly. She is often quick to judge someone or their ideas leaving little room for her to change her mind very easily if she doesn't agree. Her strict adherence to the law makes her very inflexible, being very unwilling to allow those who break the rules to go free no matter what the situation is believing justice must be upheld or else its integrity is put into question. She is very blunt when talking about others, having trouble when carefully picking her words when talking about someone. Being involved with general political matters in her early life, she has trouble fully trusting someone making her very cautious in trusting someone for their word. She will avoid 'dirtying' herself as much as possible, not wishing to tarnish herself or her clothing.
Abilities
Weapons / Possessions:
Natalia's Gladius -
A blade hand crafted for Natalia based upon the primary weapon in her nation. The weapon itself was generally improved upon made out of more sturdy metal making it more durable then a typical blade while managing to be also slightly lighter. Most of the cost came in place of the more lavish design with several engravings and particular design choices to make the blade far more elegant looking appearing almost silver in color. While Natalia was willing to fight, she wanted her weapon to reflect a sort of sophistication about itself. The blade stands 26 inches in length.

Natalia's Pistol (x2) -
Two specially crafted pistol's designed specifically for Natalia. While the barrel is still made of Metal, much of the gun is encased in a silver outer shell with a fine wood local to her kingdom placed in the handle. The pistol's themselves being finer quality do tend to allow for more accurate aim though outside their extra fancy design there is little to differentiate them from a typical well crafted pistol.

Fighting Style: Natalia tends to fight rather aggressively when its called for her to fight. While being offensive, how she tends to attack is done with a great amount of finesse trying to be optimal with her attacks. She will avoid leaving openings on herself giving her a chance when she attacks to quickly react to a counter attack whether it is to parry or to evade completely. She observes her opponent attempting to find weak points in their defense she can exploit to land a hit. Natalia will use the environment to her benefit as much as she can to help create an opening for her to win.

While she can come off aggressive, she holds some form of honor not being willing to engage opponents without making her presence known. She will general avoid trying to kill her opponent if all possible, though she can show less restraint upon those who might be convicted for more heinous acts such as murdering the innocent. She will general refuse help in a one on one fight unless she is forced to do so. Those she views as helpless she will refuse to hurt though she will restrain them if she must.
Background
Backstory:

Natalia was born the 3rd child and 2nd daughter to Casimiro and Sophia De'Primera. Her parents sit as the ruling family with her father crowned the Sovereign of Latchsea Archipelago. While being effectively the ruling family, the nation is an acting democracy with a Senate in place voted by the various islands with the Sovereign meant to act a figurehead with minor powers to demand a recount should an issue in the senate not be to their liking. The family being said to of long ago helped to unite the chain of islands together has a strong symbolic tie to the crown held for several generations back having caused the nation to flourish economically. Her family has a certain amount of prestige to the residents generally garnishing a good deal of respect. Along with the respect, the family also earns a great deal of wealth.

Natalia was lavished with attention and practically anything she so desired as a child. Being the third child she was generally not put under much pressure compared to her Older sister and brother to learn the general dealings with her nation though she was still taught a little of such affairs. With ruling not a likely position she would have it meant she was able to simply sit back and enjoy the wealth she had and live a life of quiet if she really so desired. Lacking the pressure to be proactive and make public appearances would make most who could get anything they want to entertain themselves quite content as they were. Naturally Natalia wasn't that way.

Lacking any duties as a young child, she found herself to be neglected despite the attention she got. With her mother and father spending 'special' time with her older siblings it made her seek out a way of drawing attention upon herself. She became more outgoing trying to stand out more. She would often try pampering herself up (primarily by urging the servants to help her) to try and match her sister. She attempted to take more charge becoming rather bossy as a young kid ordering others around as to exert power viewing it as a way of drawing more attention to herself. Despite her efforts she never got the extra attention she wanted from her parents. While frustrating to her it was the words of one of her family butler's that really spoke to her. "Why try to outdo your siblings when you can show you are better in other ways?". It was something the bratty Natalia had all but dismissed early on though as the years passed she seemed to take that thought process more into mind.

Reaching the two digits in age Natalia started to mellow out in her general 'bratty' attitude. Rather then relying upon others she started to rely much more on herself. If she couldn't gain recognition as a future leader she wanted to show herself to be capable of acting on her own. It started with much more trivial things such as dressing herself or fetching her own things, very much things a typical commoner had to do on their own. As time went on she further took the time to learn various hobbies from cooking to cleaning. While many of them acted as passing fads, it still helped her to get a better understanding of things and learn to stand on her own two feet. She wanted to be someone strong on her own and not just some pampered royal living in complete luxury.... although the luxury was something she did want to keep around in some part...

Over time Natalia began to get a better understanding for the world. She began to learn more about her nation and really come to understand the troubles that face her country. The idea of a pirate became known to her as her nation in particular found itself actively threatened by pirates who would attempt to disrupt their nation's trade between islands seeing as the country exported many fine goods well sought out by the wealthy. While many attempts were unsuccessful it still acted as a strain with many innocent people suffering from what she saw as lowly scum. Perhaps rather egotistically, she saw the suffering of those who were 'under' her as a personal front to herself. With the help of a skilled swordsman named Wedge Cannae she ended up learning the sword much like her older siblings had.

Natalia continued to train for several years showing herself to be quite capable with the blade. While her older siblings had been in part trained by her parents and some high ranking soldiers, Wedge's personal training style combined with Natalia's conviction allowed her to stand out much more with a blade then even her older siblings. The very notion she could not just rule over the people but to actually protect those under her gave her a sense of pride she never suspected she would have. Despite the training she got, she knew there was little chance she would ever get to use her skills for any good in her nation. Those who were at top weren't expected to fight. Even should a major battle occur it was expected the Sovereign would only direct the troops rather then attempting to engage directly into conflict, never mind one such as herself that wasn't expected to even hold much public spotlight. It was then she set her sights on the Marines. To her it was a way of being able to serve the people and rid the world of the unjust. While initially meeting resistant she managed to get permission to join the Marines.

Entering the Marines at first was rather daunting for Natalia. While her general skill in combat gave her an edge over most new recruits, she found the aspect of not holding authority rather difficult. She was treated like any other recruit and it drove the rather narcissistic woman crazy at first. While it was rough to get use to, she could be rather stubborn when she had her mind set on something. With some time and adjustment she was able to adjust to the new style of life and found herself fitting in with the marines able to bite her tongue and follow orders without (or at least much less) backtalk. Even some of her fellow recruits managed to get use to her more brash way of speaking to them, although there were plenty who held some grudge towards her.

After her training Natalia was given a chance to experience what it was like to serve as a marine. With a lower rank she found herself primarily kept on duty for rather trivial guard duties at several small Marine outposts. She used much of her natural leadership capability (well, it was likely more her good looks to swoon gullible guys to do things for her) to avoid the more 'filthy' duties taking on tasks that she saw as being somewhat more productive. Despite this, she couldn't help but find as if she was as ineffective as she was being stuck in her palace. She wanted more out of being a Marine being able to set the seas and directly combat the pirate menace that seemed to cause so much trouble to the innocent people out there in the world. It only encouraged her to work to improve herself further and prove she was deserving of more.

Natalia managed to prove herself after a few years of service earning the rank of Petty Officer. She found herself placed on more active duty where she got to experience what it meant to be a marine putting your life on the line. She found herself as part of a crew in which she engaged in several battles with pirates. She had quickly shown her capabilities in fighting. She gained the attention of the captain. Through the few years of service she had managed to quickly earn her self several promotions proving herself. At that point she had managed to restrain herself better to her authority figures with far less backlash having a general level of respect for her captain who seemed to show her a great deal of respect back. She began to show herself as a more capable leader for those under her, while still one to be quite brash with her choice of words she managed to hold a much better composure making others less Leary of her taking charge.

Having visited several islands during her travels with the crew she found more of an interest experience the various fine goods each location had and the particular culture that surfaced. While she had viewed her home nation to be the best there was it left her feeling more attached to the world as a whole. Even the most.... unpleasant places had some good to them, even if she wouldn't dare go near such filth she was more then happy to protect those who might live there. It made it quite clear just how rough the world could be, and even worst how the pirates could make people already suffer to suffer even worst then they were already. It furthered her overall disdain to pirates making it her goal to try and work to putting and end to their kind viewing them as the ultimate evil in the world keeping people from living happy lives.

Natalia found herself further promoted as she was placed once again at a Marine headquarters although this time in a more dangerous part of the sea. While not as active as she had been before she found herself often dispatched with other Marines to take care of pirate threats nearby. She spent a lot of her time at the HQ working to improve herself further not wanting to waste herself away in those decent chunks of downtime between being dispatched. She wanted to earn herself a higher position, one that would allow her to be more proactive in taking care of such filth to make the seas a safer place for all the innocent people trying to just live their lives and having it disrupted. She was willing to do her duty of one of such a high pedigree to serve those beneath her.

During her time working in the HQ, she took several months to travel home. It was on her trip she had her custom gladius created and had many of the workings for her pistol crafted up in order to be used to be put together by a skilled Marine smith. At that time her older sister had taken over many duties from her father as Sovereign while her brother acted in part to take over the mantle of the Senate for their island. While she got to enjoy the luxury she had long since left it only furthered her conviction she was missing something being left to simply exist rather then to act. Seeing her sister taking more of a leadership position only made her realize just how small her home nation really was of the big piece that was the world, even with the little she had came to experience. Getting herself a nice fitting outfit to wear suited for that of a Marine she had set back off to active duty and at that point returning being granted a higher rank in the process.

Natalia continued her service for several more years entering her twenties. She continued to strive to better perfect herself seeking to prove herself above and beyond others and one who was worthy of standing above all and to keep them safe. She managed to prove herself in the battle of Cape June being one of the pivotal combatants for the marines leading to the defeat of a notorious pirate crew that had managed to build up a small fleet over its time. With such an achievement under her belt she rose up in the ranks achieving the rank of lieutenant. Establishing herself in a solid place as a Marine officer she worked to quickly show she was more then capable of taking command. She was far more adapt at leading then she had been long ago garnishing loyalty with many who served under her despite her usually very blunt way with words.

Now twenty four years of age, Natalia has made a name for herself in the Marines as an up and coming member. She has grown herself immensely from where she started not just in strength but also in many ways developing in character. She still views her job as a Marine to protect those in need above all else and holds a strong conviction to stop all those who would attempt to break the law and to serve Justice to those who seek to do wrong in the world.

Full Name: Axel Wolfheim

Gender: male

Age: 32

Physical Description: Axel is a rather tall man (for a normal human), and weights 73 kg, with a medium frame, but an athletic build, nonetheless. He has silky, medium-length, messy black hair, fair skin and intense olive green eyes (he can be considered quite handsome). He wears a standard-issue Marine white short-sleeved shirt, a blue neckerchief, a pair of white gloves, dark blue trousers, black shoes, and a coat with the word "Justice" written on the back. The coat is worn like a cape, draped over the shoulders, with the arms not in the sleeves. The way he carries himself gives off a feeling of natural elegance and confidence, at least when he isn't pretending to be an extreme airhead.

Height: 184 cm

Personality: Axel is a rather peculiar one. On a first glance, one might think that he's a complete airhead. He seems like he can't concentrate on anything. Always unable to pay attention to his surroundings, or what other people tell him, always gazing at the sky, or the celling of a room, and always making paper ariplanes, or origami. For those who don't know his real nature, Axel appears as a true idiot. Because that's exactly what he wants others to belive.

In reality, Axel is a cunning, rather cold, very intelligent, and extremely analytical individual. He pretends to be an airhead for two reasons. The first reason is that people generally let their guard down when he acts like that, which helps him greatly, especially in a fight. The second one is that it is more likely for people to show their true nature, and/or leak information in front of an idiot, as they wouldn't expect such a person to understand much, or read between the lines. If people find out that the truth and the airhead act is no longer effective, Axel will merely drop it and show his real nature.

Dispite the fact that he is indeed a rather cold individual and has no mercy against those he considers criminals, he does have a soft side, especially for kids. He loves children and will protect them from harm even if it costs his life. Harming a kid is the thing that Axel hates the most, and finds it unforgivable. If he ever sees someone do such a thing, he will waste no time to attack them, and will feel no remorse even if he ends up killing them.

Axel is verdy peculiar even when he is angry. In such a state, he does not raise his voice, talk in an aggressive way, nor can any rage be written on his face. Instead, his eyes become lifeless and he wears an empty expression on his face. In such a state, he will attempt to utterly destroy the subject of his anger, be it physically, psychologically, or both.

His greatest flaws are probably his tendencies to do things on his own, and the fact that he is rather distrustful, even when it comes to fellow Marines, out of which he only trusts a limited number. He analyzes someone for a great amount of time, before he decideds whether they are trustwhorthy, or not.

Likes: origami, children, reading, puzzles, honest people

Dislikes: hypocrisy, unnecessary violence, child abuse, opression, immature adults

Personal Strengths: tenacity, good self-control, capacity to read between the lines, great strategist, very good navigational skills

Personal Flaws: stubbornness, lone wolf tendencies, distrustfulness towards a high number of people (including some Marines, who are supposed to be his allies), claustrophobia, can be very harsh

Rank: Captain

How do they fight?

Axel has his own fighting style, being able to perform various strikes, throws, holds, chokes and joint locks, but his strongest techniques mainly revolve around the use of the Rokushiki techniques that he knows. He will also pretend to not pay attention, or act clumsy, awaiting for his target to drop their guard down, before attempting to strike. He makes very good use of his incredible agility and strength.

#Rokushiki- he can use three of the techniques, namely Soru, Geppo, and Rankyaku. He can also combine Geppo and Soru to perform Kamisori.

#Iron Fist- while he cannot use Tekkai on his whole body, Axel can harden his fists to the level of iron.

  • Iron Claw- variation of the Iron Fist, in which he forms his hands into 'claws', then hardens them.
  • Iron Palm- another variation, in which he hardens his palms.
  • Iron Grip- in this case, he hardens his hand the moment he actually grips his opponent.

#Hunter's Bullet Frenzy- Axel throws punches at an insanely fast rate, while using Iron Fist. The sheer speed of the attack gives the impression that his fists are multiplying.

#Sheep Slayer- he uses Soru, before perfoming Iron Claw and targeting the chest of his opponent (namely the area where the heart is located). Generally strikes with his right hand.

#Hunter's Blitz Bullet- similar to Sheep Slayer, he strikes with his right hand (generally), which is hardened because of the Iron Fist technique, while using Soru to gain momentum and more destructive power.

#Hunter's Quake Touch- Axel gathers a high amount of strength in one of his arms, then uses Soru to get close to the target, before striking with an Iron Palm. Causes a powerful shockwave on impact.

#Skydive Predator- he uses Kamisori to reach a certain altitude, then he dives at an incredibly high speed towards his target, before using either Iron Palm, or Iron Claw (again, generally with his right hand). The attack is strong enough to cause the ground to crumble on impact.

#Air Wolf Slash Frenzy- He uses Geppo to get up the air and then he starts to rotate furiously, becoming like a twister, and launching Rankyaku attacks randomly, in almost all directions.

#Bloodhound- Axel concentrates intensely, until he enters something which can be described as a 'hunter mode'. His hearing, sense of smell, and visual perception are all greatly enhanced, he becomes completely focused on his target(s), and his pupils become slit-shaped. Not only does this give him better reflexes, but it also improves the accuracy of his attacks. On the other hand, he can only use it for 15 minutes a day, and it causes him a severe headache afterwards.

Weapons / Possessions:

  • A belt which has a few pairs of Seastone handcuffs on it, which he always keeps around. He will not always equip it, though, leaving it most of the time on the ship he's travelling on.
  • A pair of knuckle dusters made completely out of Seastone, which he always takes with him, but not always uses. He will equip them when he knows that he must battle a Logia user. Generally keeps them in the cabin of the ship that he travels on.

Backstory:

Axel was born in a poor village, somewhere in North Blue. He had a strong body, and since little he'd help the adult villagers with hunting, and sometimes fishing, becoming highly adept at it over time, and once he turned 12 he'd manage to hunt on his own. But it wasn't enough. They didn't have many resources, the main problem being the limited amount of fertile soil to grow vegetables, and the fact that the village didn't even have a medic of any sort. They were lucky some people had basic medical knowledge, at the very least. Or so they thought.

As some of the male villagers got sick and died, hunting became more difficult, thus food also became a problem. Axel's father died as well, and to make it worse, his mother was pregnant and had a rather weak body. Axel had to take care of her together with his female friend of the same age, Anna Klein, and William Weiss, his father's best friend. At that point, the boy was 15 years old. Things were undoubtly tough. But one day Axel found something special. Something that gave him hope.

As he was walking through the forest near his village, the young Wolfheim tripped over something. When he got up and turned around he saw that it was a bottle. A bottle with a rolled piece of paper in it. When he took out the paper and looked at it, he became really excited. It seemed to be a treasure map. Axel was an intelligent one. While the village didn't have many books, it at least had a few on navigation, and Axel managed to read all the books that his village had to offer (roughly 100). In other words, Axel knew how to read maps, among other things. He realised that the supposed treasure was hidden somewhere underwater, so he secretly went to that spot with William, and managed to find a treasure chest. But once they opened it, what they found were not gold coins, rubies, or diamonds. It was another map, a bigger one this time, togheter with an old, small, hand-written book.

The map found in the chest displayed a very wide area, one which Axel knew. It was a detailed one of the island where his village was located, a rather far island where a prosperous town was located, and all the uninhabited islands between them. Axel knew that town, as he went there with a few male adults once to search for work. It was like a completely different world to him, almost magical. Even so, they weren't able to do much at that time, as the people there had almost no need for their skills. But that had no importance. At that moment, Axel held in his hands a map, and a book which gave details about a treasure located in one of the uninhabited islands near the town, as well as the dangers that may come, if one attempted to retrieve it.

Axel studied the book intensively and came to a decision. After a very long talk with William and Anna, he convinced them to let him go and try to take the treasure on his own. After all, he had the highest chances of survival. He'd then secretly take a small boat from the village and write a letter for his mother, which he gave to William. The young girl and the old man where also there when he was about to depart.

"I leave my mom, my future sibling, and Anna in your care Mr. William."

"Of course Axel, my boy. Have a safe trip."

"Hey, I can protect myself. Worry more about yourself, will you Axel?"

"Hahaha. Sorry, sorry. I know you're a strong woman Anna. I'll make sure to marry you one day."

"Y-you...idiot! Stop joking around and go already. We'll be fine here."

"You're cute when you blush."

"I-idiot...I'll hit you..." she said timidly, with her head down, face red.

"Please take care Axel"

"Don't worry...I'll be sure to return safely and with the treasure. Well then, I guess it's time to go" and with that said, he sailed away.

The young man faced many hardships along the way: storms, sea monsters, various wild beasts, traps. He even had to craw through extremely small tunnels, something which would have made him go insane if it continued for long. But he stood strong and managed to survive it all. In the end he made it to his destination, and finally found the treasure chest. He opened it and he was in awe. So much gold and jewelry. Sadly, his boat was destroyed once he reached his destination, so he had to make a raft, and travel towards the island where the prosperous town was located.

Once he got to the town, he initially felt happy, finally he could do something of importance for his village, but most importantly, for his family and friends. His happiness turned into sorrow and despair as a bunch of bandits tried to rob him. He sticked like glue to the treasure he found, as the bandits punched and kicked him, trying to take away that for which Axel risked his life for. The sorrow and despair gradually transformed into rage. "I will kill you" he said, in an ice-cold tone, as he looked at the bandits with emotionless eyes, and his pupils became slit-shaped.

At that point, the bandits took a few steps back. For a teenager, Axel had a very powerful presence, and had an unnaturally high amount of bloodlust. The men instinctively felt that he was dangerous. One of them took out a knife. "T-This kid...I- I need to finish off this kid" he thought. But before he could even attempt to move. Something happened. None of the bandits knew what truly happened because all of them where knocked out in the blink of an eye. The one who defeated them was a Rear-Admiral, who used Soru. "It's ok. No one will harm you now. I am here to help you" he said to Axel.

After hearing those words, a wide array of emotions were swelling deep inside the young Wolfheim. Throughout his journey he was alone, he almost died, when he reached the town he was attacked and almost robbed. Finally someone was kind, and helped him. He started to cry for a while, while the Marine simply stood by his side and waited for him to calm down.

After Axel finally stopped crying, he thanked the Rear-Admiral and explained his situation. The man was touched, and volunteered to help the boy. He'd go with the boy to exchange the gold and jewelry with money, then he'd prepare a ship, gather some of his men, hire a doctor, and buy a large number of provisions. Axel was very happy. He could retun home safely and could give everyone a way better life. 28 days had passed since Axel left the village. He was anxious. His new sibling should have been born by then. He couldn't wait to see his friends and family again. After a day and a half, he finally came back home. But something happened. Something went very wrong while he was away.

The village wasn't the same. It seemed abbandoned, and after investigating, the Marines discovered bones behind some houses. Axel was mortified, he started running and screaming names of people in the village. Suddenly, someone came from the shadows. It was William and he wasn't looking too well. He was rather pale, and lost weight, while his eyes were bloodshot. Axel came to his side.

"Mr. William, what happened? Where is everyone?"

"Axel, my boy...y-you have returned...Things...many things happened."

"I-I have found the treasure. I e-even brought a lot of things and people to help us"

"Ah...I never thought you'd come back."

"Mr. William, please tell me. Where is everyone? Where are my mother and Anna? What's with the bones behind the houses?"

At the mentioning of bones, William fell on his knees, and started to cry.

"Th-the bones...Axel, I'm sorry. Axel, my boy...I'm very sorry...I was just...I was so hungry, and after giving birth to your younger brother, your mother was in a physical situation in which she wouldn't have lived for long, so I just..."

Axel listened to what William just told him, but had a hard time processing it. "He is sorry...he was hungry...my mother wouldn't have lived for long...What...What does that mean? Why? How? He's apologizing...he was hungry, cried at the mention of bones, mother would have died anyway. Hungry, cried because of human bones, mother would have died. He's sorry because he was hungry, and my mother would have died anyway. He's crying because of human bones, he's sorry, he was hungry, mother would have died anyway. He ate my mother and he's apologizing for it...cannibalism" in the end he finally came to a conclusion. His mother was dead. William ate her. He realised it, but it was very difficult to accept it. For a while Axel simply stood in front of William without saying anything.

"Axel, my boy...I'm sorr- " Wiliam didn't manage to finish his sentence. Axel punched him without any hesitation, causing blood to gush out of the man's nose, then attempted to strangle William with both hands. "Who are you? Why do you continue to utter my name? I don't remember ever meeting such a cockroach" he said harshly, on an extremely cold tone, looking at William with cold, lifeless eyes. Who was that man? The William he knew, the man who was like family to him, the one he trusted more than anyone else, wouldn't do something like that. The Rear-Admiral went towards his side to stop him, but before he could do that...

"A-Axel? Is that really you?"

A familiar voice made Axel snap out of it. He let go of William and turned around. It was Anna, who was holding a small baby. She was thinner and had bags under her eyes. The boy slowly walked towards her until he was about 30 cm apart, and with each step his expression gradually softened. Anna looked at him with teary eyes and smiled. They looked at each other without saying anything for about a minute, before Anna broke the ice: "Look Axel, this is your little brother. Your mother named him Erik". With that said, she gave the baby to Axel. The teenage boy had a tender smile on his face as he looked at his little brother. He was so small and cute. The baby boy opened his eyes, revealing a lime color, and laughed at Axel, making many cute baby noises. At that point, Axel started to cry. Too many powerful emotions, both positive and negative, where gathered within him.

After the Marines arrested William, Anna explained what happened. Basically, just a few days after Axel left to find the treasure, a pirate ship came at the village. The pirates saw that they were poor but killed a few people and took some of their food anyways. Since the people who were killed were part of the ones responsible for hunting and fishing, gathering food became a bigger prolem than before. People would eat less, and some couldn't handle the hunger, so once someone was close to death, some villagers would practice cannibalism. Those who maintained their sanity, distanced themselves from these individuals and created a barricade at some distance from the village. Those who ate other people couldn't live with themselves afterwards so they commited suicide, with one exception: William. Apparently Axel's mother was in a very weakened state after she gave birth to Erik, so no one knew if she'd manage to survive, given the state of things, so William did what he did.

Axel was speechless. He stood there, silent, while internally he was diving into the darkness of his soul. But a voice made him snap back to reality. "Get a grip young man! Don't you still have something left to cherish and protect in this world? Wake up!" said the Rear-Admiral. Something felt? Yes, of course he had. Anna and his little brother were still alive. "You are right, sir. Thank you" said Axel. The Marine smiled.

Afterwards Axel and the rest of the villagers were taken to the prosperous town and a part of the money he got for the treasure was used for their accomodations. They'd eventually be given jobs and live their lives there. But in Axel's case, the Rear-Admiral gave him an opportunity: to become a Marine. If he'd manage to get high in the ranks, he would have gained a lot of power, but not just physical. He would have had what it took to protect those dear to him, and ensure that nothing tragic would befall them ever again. Thus, he accepted the offer.

The Marines weren't like Axel expected, to say the least. He initially belived that all of them were great people, fighting to protect the innocent, but he later discovered that even they had rotten apples, and a dark side. Ever since the incident wih William, Axel had trust issues, and they continued to grow because of the things he saw in his earlier days as a Marine. He was highly intelligent, and could read between the lines, so most people avoided him, as he looked like he could stare into their soul. He eventually had a discussion with his mentor, who was now a Vice-Admiral.

"Tell me, how exactly can I trust people again? Most of them hide their true nature, make you belive they are your allies and then backstab you, disappoint you, or break your heart."

"Young man, I know what happened at that village was hard to accept, but..."

"But what? After something like that, how can I still belive there are trustworthy individuals? How can I belive that even you wouldn't be hidding your true nature?"

"Listen Axel, would you have ever been able to do what William Weiss did?"

"I would rather die!"

"Good. If you are like that, what makes you belive there aren't any other people like that?"

"That...That is a good point. But how can I find them? How can I distinguish between real and fake when some people are such spectacular actors?"

"You should trust your intuition, analzye them carefully, and...make them let their guard down."

"Let their guard down? How exactly?"

"Make them belive you are harmless. How you do that is up to you."

Axel thought about it for a while. How could he appear harmless, and make people let their guard down, so he that he could grasp their true nature? As he asked himself that question he witnessed a clown perform on the street. "Clowns always act like idiots...Wait!" it suddenly hit him. He didn't want to act like a clown, but he could act like an airhead. If people belived he was an airhead, they wouldn't be warry of him, and he could determine whether they were trustworthy or not.

Time passed, and Axel eventually became a Captain. He learnt some Rokushiki techniques, and eventually used them to create new ones. He was a good leader, but had a tendency to do things on his own. He was still distrustful towards most people, but realized that there are indeed trustworthy ones. He acted like a laid-back airhead, but was in fact a cunning, harsh, and intelligent individual. Some people realised his true nature, and others didn't. But at that point he didn't care. As a 32-years-old adult and Marine all he cared about was protecting the innocent and punishing the maggots.

"The Wall" Joseph Tenta
1547452082666.png

Gender:
Male

Age:
33

Physical Description:
1547452100288.png
Joseph is a hulking mass of a man, standing at approximately eleven feet and covered in tough muscles. He has a clean-shaven face with slick black hair he keeps tied in a bun at the top of his head, though he does have some hair that tends to stick out, and generally has a single strand of hair that falls down onto his face. Joseph adorns the normal Marine sailor outfit and the Marine coat with the symbol for "Justice" on the back, but when he has to fight, he will more often than not strip down to a mawashi, or a belt and loincloth common to sumo wrestling.

Height:
11 feet 3 inches

Personality:
Joseph is an aggressive man, choosing to tackle his problems head on instead of beating around the bush. He is strict, following the laws of the world and making sure that others enforce it as well. He is just as harsh on himself, following a strict routine each day to ensure everything stays consistent. While strict, Joseph isn't a cruel man, looking out for the well-being of those around him, including both civilians and other Marines. It isn't rare for him to jump in front of a comrade to protect them if he can, usually resulting in him getting wounded in some way. Joseph also has a fondness of celebrating to an extent, as long as it does not affect himself or others negatively.

Joseph is also a very physical man, normally expressing his feelings through gestures when he cannot think of the words for it, which is rather often. He is also physically affectionate to others, typically giving pats on the back or high fives to people if he feels they did a good job. While normally physical, in a professional setting Joseph makes an extra effort to seem respectable and verbal, being active in conversations with other Marines. This normally tires him out, though, and he normally tries to escape these sort of situations as soon as he can.

No person is without their major faults. Joseph's is he has no opinions of his own, following only the laws the World Government has put in place as what seems right and wrong. He has no conflicting feelings of what should or should not be different, only accepting what is established as the "truth". This makes him subservient to those with higher authority than him, and will always stick to the law as close as he possibly can to make sure it is upheld without question.

Personal Flaws:

- Gullible
- Intolerant
- Vague

Rank:
Ensign

Fighting Style:
Joseph is a rather skilled sumo wrestler, with most of his attacks focusing on grappling, slapping, and throwing. His height and weight give him a significant advantage in this respect, as he can easily overpower most of his opponents in this way. His advantage comes into affect in mid-close range, as he can opt for slaps at medium range to disorient or harm an opponent, or can grapple and takedown an opponent at close range. Joseph's biggest weakness is martial arts that deal in long ranges, such as kickboxing, or weapons like swords, spears, and guns, but those only have a great effect outside of Joseph's range.

Joseph has two signature techniques. The first is Palm of Passion, a move where Joseph strikes an opponent with an open palm slap that is meant to knock people away while dealing more damage to them, as he usually does this with a wide swing or a concentrated version called Palm of Pride where he strikes in a sumo stance. The second move is Bull's Charge, a tackle that uses all of Joseph's weight behind it, giving him momentum to charge into an opponent at high speeds.
Weapons:
Joseph needs no weapon other than his own body.

Backstory:
Joseph was born in the North Blue, on an island known as Prevence, a island that was a popular tourist attraction for the competitive sport of sumo wrestling. Joseph was, for many years when he was young, a small and frail boy, constantly being picked on by the others for his size. Joseph would normally take the abuse, though, as he didn't want to cause any trouble for his parents or younger sister, Delaney. Joseph and Delaney were very close, with Delaney looking up to the cool and calm airs Joseph kept whenever he was picked on, and how he would make sure she wasn't harassed because of him.

Joseph, beginning to be tired of the constant bullying, eventually tried to enroll in any of the numerous sumo dojos on the island, but none would take a frail boy like him. As he began to give up hope, he was found by one of the professional sumo wrestlers, Benji Komba. Benji had no faith in Joseph, but decided to keep an eye on the boy to see if he could spot any potential. And the day Benji saw Joseph's potential was one day when some other children were harassing Delaney, and when Joseph stepped in and was able to push back a boy twice his size just an inch before being pummeled into the ground, Benji knew Joseph could become something great. So the man took the misfit under his wing and began to train him.

Joseph's training followed a strict exercise program and a stronger diet than normal sumo wrestlers to bulk him up to match the other students. Joseph struggled at first, as his small body couldn't keep up with what Benji threw at him, but over time, Joseph saw progress. After three years of training, Joseph had caught up to most of the same boys his age. Two years later, he was surpassing them and moving on to higher levels of sumo, to the point that by the age of 19 he was fighting highly trained adults.

Of course, all good things come to an end, and this end came by a pirate attack on the island. A pirate ship launched cannonballs onto the island, injuring many people before moving in and ransacking the town. The few sumo wrestlers that weren't harmed in the gunfire tried to fight back, but the pirate's weapons either wounded or killed them. Joseph was one of the few who kept fighting, but was eventually wounded to the point he had to retreat, and he began to search for his family amidst the chaos. He established that his parents were safe, but was ambushed by a group of pirates. Joseph, unable to block in time, prepared to be stabbed by a pirate, but Delaney jumped in front of the attack, taking it for her brother to repay him for all the years he tried to protect her. Joseph, in a rage, rallied the wrestlers that could still fight and drove the pirates out just as the Marines arrived, taking down the pirates and arresting them.

The Marines stayed on the island to give aid to the island until it could thrive on its own. Delaney was taken care of by the doctors, but the sword had damaged her spine and as a result she could not walk. Joseph, furious that he couldn't do anything, vowed that he would eliminate the pirate threat that haunted the seas, so no person would know the pain of having someone they loved wounded. He enlisted in the Marines and put his body and soul into his duty. He steadily rose in rank, using his sumo skills in battle and establishing himself as a reliable asset to the Marines.

He rose in status after a pirate crew attacked a tourist island to pillage the riches from it. There, after many Marines fell to the pirates and were forced to retreat to preserve their numbers and strategize, Joseph stayed behind, as he was unaware they were retreating. He guarded a restaurant filled with civilians for nearly twelve hours with no rest, fending off their attacks so as to protect the citizens of the island from any harm. By the end of it, his blood was indistinguishable from that of the pirates, and his actions rallied the other Marines into pushing back harder than before and driving the pirates out. From then on, Joseph gained the nickname "The Wall", his story spreading among lower ranked Marines.

Backstory: Yarrow served, for the longest time, under a great Marine Captain. He served well, and served admirably, but ultimately after having been laid up to recover a gun shot wound, Yarrow's captain was tracked down and murdered by a vicious Pirate captain in a bid of revenge. There was an attempt to retire Yarrow, as he had never once served under any other Marine.

Despite their attempts to honourably retire Yarrow, he kept arriving for training sessions and drills, and kept attempting to put himself on ships. After enough time the Marines finally chose to relent, understanding that in all fairness, it would take a miracle to find a more loyal soldier. So, armed with his master's old blade, and driven to avenge him, Yarrow quickly rejoined and promptly rose in the ranks of the Marines. He followed orders, he served well and earned a 'Special Operative' addition to his rank, due to the unique situation he served in.

This has allowed Yarrow to make decisions on which crew he's served on, joining and leaving crews in his personal mission to handle his own operation.

He will have his revenge, no matter how long it takes.
