particular proclivity for transfiguration. Highly
individual, ebony wands have been found among
members of both the Order of the Phoenix and the
Death Eaters. Ebony wands are best suited to those
who hold fast to their beliefs, and are not easily swayed
by outside pressures.

garners respect. They are known to fiercely defend
those they are loyal to and to have a very short

AMORTENTIA : Pine needles, broomstick polish, rain, butterscotch candies, cinnamon, and ivory soap
TALENTS :
- Willow is naturally gifted on a broom, and is one of the most talented flyers the Slytherin Quidditch team has seen in decades. Given her small stature and slender physique, she seems to have been tailor-made to become a Seeker. She's made quite the name for herself since joining the team during her third year.
- Transfiguration has always come more easily to Willow than other magic.
SKILLS :
- Willow is a fierce duel partner. She is highly offensive, calculating, and precise.
- Willow has learned to quite enjoy her arithmancy class, and has grown very adept with the mathematical nature of it. She is a part of the arithmancy club and later forms a truce with Hermione Granger in order to study together. They mutually benefit from this arrangement, and even come to share a mutual respect.
CURRENT RESIDENCE : Willow lives in Redmond Manor during 1st-5th year. She leaves home right before her 6th year at Hogwarts.
THE APPEARANCE
APPEARANCE : Typical of most Seekers, Willow is lean and slender. She's strong from all her years of Quidditch training, with hardened arms and strong legs. She has a squarer jawline, but otherwise very feminine features. She is made far less pretty due to the almost permanent scowl on her lips. She's not always angry, but does have a resting angry face. She has very high, prominent cheekbones, an upturned nose, and lips in an almost permanent pout. Her eyes are hazel, a mix of green and brown, and she has a small handful of freckles dusted across her nose.
FACECLAIM : Isabelle Fuhrman
HAIR COLOR + STYLE : Willow's hair is long, thick, and jet black in color. It's almost always in a ponytail down her back, and she has curtain bangs that frame her face. She's also been known to wear her hair in braided pigtails or in a bun. It's almost never down, but hangs all the way to her mid-back.
EYE COLOR : Hazel, both green and brown
SKIN TONE : Fair, with a cool undertone
HEIGHT : 5'3"
CLOTHING STYLE : Despite being a jock, Willow is actually fairly fashionable. She finds a lot of enjoyment in her clothing and appearance. She is always well-groomed and neat. Willow is most often seen in dark colors, mainly black, with clothing that is well-tailored to her figure. A mix of both functional and enviably confident, Willow's clothing always conveys an air of poise and self-assurance.
TATTOOS / SCARS : Willow has a few spare scars all over from Quidditch, but nothing too major. In fifth year, she gains a scar across the back of her hand that reads, "I must not be impertinent."
EXTRA : Willow smells like green apple shampoo and her perfume, which is a clean, fresh scent, almost akin to seawater.
THE PERSONA
PERSONALITY : Vivacious, impertinent, and confident, Willow has no trouble making friends. She has an acidic wit and a biting tongue, which has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion. She has often been referred to as "cheeky" or "insolent" by professors, and is known to stand up for her loved ones if she feels they are being treated unfairly. Willow embodies the Slytherin traits of ambitious and cunning, and as a result, is one of the top students in her year. Highly intelligent, hotheaded, and stubborn--and perhaps even a touch dramatic at times. It can be a bit difficult to get Willow to truly open up, but her friendship comes with a fierce, deep sense of loyalty and protectiveness. Her loved ones knows she loves them not because she says so, but because of how ferociously protective of them she is. She takes very badly to having a bruised ego, and is both a sore loser and a gloating winner. Willow is practical, logical, pragmatic, and annoyingly, usually very right. However, if you manage to embarrass her or catch her off guard, Willow is refreshingly flustered and unsure of herself. She avoids these occasions whenever possible.
LIKES : Cinnamon rolls, high grades, firewhiskey, Quidditch, winning any game or competition, wizard's chess, Exploding Snap, trips to Hogsmeade, the color green, dueling club, cold and otherwise gloomy days, the rain (except on game days), springtime, the color pink, fashion, exams
DISLIKES : losing, wasting her time, Flobberworms, Herbology, hot weather, most vegetables (especially tomatoes), the Ministry of Magic, Gryffindor house, being wrong about anything
FEARS : Willow's biggest irrational fear is of Flobberworms. She thinks they are the most disgusting little beasts on the planet, and made a bit of a fool of herself during Care of Magical Creatures due to her inability to even look at them for too long, despite everyone else finding them dull and uninteresting. Her larger fears are of losing family members, being unmemorable or unaccomplished, failing, and of course, of You-Know-Who.
MENTAL HEALTH : It depends on the year. In years 1-4, Willow is fairly carefree and in wonderful spirits. Starting in fifth year, though, Willow becomes very moody, and then slips into a depression in sixth year. Post war, Willow does experience a form of post traumatic stress disorder.
PHYSICAL HEALTH : Willow is slight, but in extremely good shape thanks to how hard she trains for Quidditch. She very rarely gets sick, but when she does, is usually in denial about being unwell and will attempt to attend classes until forced to go to the Hospital Wing.
THE BACKSTORY
BACKSTORY : Willow and Sebastian Redmond were born into a family of quiet brooders on a cool March morning--Sebastian four minutes older than Willow. She is the black sheep of the family thanks to her more sociable nature. From a very young age, Willow had an almost voracious appetite for knowledge. She was continually reading spell books and begging her parents to teach her more magic, despite not having a wand of her own to use yet. Her childhood was a relatively happy one. When arriving at Hogwarts, the Hat took quite a long while before deciding she belonged in Slytherin.
Willow gained friends quickly and easily. Family connections plus her high-spirited, effervescent personality caused Willow to soon become a very popular member of Slytherin house. She began to excel in her classes, most especially Transfiguration and Potions, thanks to her natural inclination to be detail oriented and analytical. Early on, she also developed a bit of a rivalry with Draco Malfoy, most especially when he was "chosen" as Seeker in second year. She had been working incredibly hard before tryouts, and was absolutely infuriated to find out that he got the position simply because his father bought the team brand new brooms. In third year, she easily outflew him and took his place as Slytherin Seeker. Much to her personal pride, Willow has defended the position ever since.
Meanwhile, in contrast of her rather charmed life at Hogwarts, tensions were rising at home. It was becoming clearer that her house was becoming divided: her parents' Dark Marks were growing darker and darker. Her mother and elder brother seemed inclined to side with You-Know-Who if things got bad again, while her father wanted to run. Willow and her twin brother, Sebastian, were caught in the middle--especially Sebastian. They began to argue more and more, especially with Willow beginning to spend time with Hermione Granger, Gryffindor student and known best friend of Harry Potter. During fourth year, Willow had thought the biggest tragedy would be Quidditch being cancelled--but it seemed like the world exploded at the conclusion of the year, with the Dark Lord's return.
That summer was tense at home. Mr. Redmond assured the twins assured that they were still just a tiny bit too young to swear allegiance, but Mrs. Redmond seemed insistent that it was an inevitability. While their father tried to urge Sebastian to think for himself, their mother was attempting to threaten and intimidate Willow into denouncing any friendship with their "enemies" and to join her. Fifth year, Willow is far less jovial and vibrant. She struggles with choosing a side, as well as the possibility of her twin being on the opposite side.
Willow is also outraged to figure out that Dolores Umbridge is basically throwing away their fifth year of education in Defense Against the Dark Arts. She has far too many ambitions and goals to waste a whole year of learning, especially right before she takes her O.W.L.s. For the first time ever, she and Harry Potter seem to be on the same side. For her smart mouth in class and her refusal to behave respectfully towards Umbridge, Willow earns a scar on the back of her hand that reads "I must not be impertinent." Thanks to her friendship with Hermione, Willow is invited to join Dumbledore's Army, despite distrust from both Harry and Ron.
As the months pass on, Harry and Willow continue to banter and bicker, but it's becoming increasingly clear that they don't hate each other as much as they pretend to. One evening, after all the other students have returned to their dormitories, Willow stays behind to continue perfecting the spell they'd been practicing. Tensions mount, and another playful argument somehow turns into the pair sharing many, many kisses up against the wall. For a handful of blissful weeks, Willow and Harry entertain a secret relationship of sorts. Neither of them really label it, but they begin to grow close emotionally and finally open up to each other.
Dumbledore's Army is discovered by Umbridge, and Ron immediately accuses Willow of being the rat. She is incredibly hurt when Harry seems to also be suspicious instead of immediately siding with her. He apologizes profusely, especially when it's revealed that Marietta Edgecomb was the real traitor, but Willow's pride is too injured to accept. They break up--but she comes along to the Ministry anyways, on Hermione's insistence.
Over the summer, Sebastian takes the Dark Mark along with Draco Malfoy. Willow, knowing she could not return home after the fight at the Ministry, begged Professor Dumbledore to find her another place to stay. She spends her summer with the Weasleys, during which she develops a close friendship with Ginny, and a begrudging truce with Ron. Heartbreakingly, her father is nowhere to be found, and is assumed killed by Death Eaters. Harry arrives partway through the summer, and the following month and a half is painfully awkward, as she still refuses to speak to him.
At school, Willow's former popularity within her own house has shattered. Despite still being captain of the Quidditch team, during what ought to be her best year yet, her team refuses to listen to her and completely ignores the plays she drafts up. Sebastian's popularity is rising, and he will no longer speak to Willow. One fateful evening, Harry notices Willow sitting out by the Black Lake by herself. When he walks up to ask her what she's doing out in the cold, the normally closed-off Willow bursts into tears. She spills all of her fears and grief onto him, and after an emotional reconciliation, their relationship resumes.
Willow joins the Order of the Phoenix when she turns seventeen, and spends the summer before her seventh year mainly with members of the Order. She is a part of the mission to transport Harry from Privet Drive to the Burrow, but declines to hunt Horcruxes with the Golden Trio. Willow insists that she can still save her brother and make him join their side. She returns to Hogwarts and endures a long year of brutal retaliation for the side she has chosen. Willow, Neville Longbottom, and Seamus Finnigan join forces to try and protect the younger students from the Carrows.
Willow's attempts to dissuade Sebastian from the cause seem futile. She listens to every Potterwatch she can, and hides in the Room of Requirement with the rest of the endangered students near the end of the year. She is overjoyed to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione back at Hogwarts before the final battle, and shares a kiss with Harry before the fighting breaks out. During the battle, Sebastian hunts her down and the pair duel. Unwilling to murder her twin, Sebastian gains the upper hand, but is unable to cast the killing curse. Alecto Carrow watches this exchange, and attempts to cast it himself at Willow, but Sebastian throws himself in front of her and dies. Willow, enraged and grief-stricken, murders Carrow. McGonagall has to physically restrain Willow when she sees Harry's body carried out by Hagrid--and she very nearly punches Harry when she sees him again.
THE RELATIONSHIPS
FAMILY :
MOTHER : Calliope Eleanor Redmond (nee Rosier) - Originally a member of the Rosier family, Calliope was a proud member of Slytherin house during her school days. She is employed as the head of the Department of Mysteries and works closely with Augustus Rookwood, a Death Eater spy. It can get confusing about whether she is discussing her husband or her coworker--especially considering she is sleeping with both. Calliope is a loyal Death Eater. She is most especially proud of Brendan, and often regards her daughter with disdain and disapproval thanks to her boisterous personality and resistance to obedience. Calliope survives the battle at Hogwarts and is sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban.
FATHER : Augustus Marcus Redmond - Renowned arithmancer, Augustus is both brilliant and a bit of a laughingstock thanks to his absentminded, scatterbrained nature. He is a bit of a recluse, and often lets his wife run the house. He was a Death Eater in the first wizarding war, but over time and after becoming a father, his allegiances may have swayed slightly. He attempts to flee once the Dark Lord returns, but is unsuccessful and presumed murdered by other Death Eaters shortly before Willow's sixth year. His wife was present while he was executed by Lucius Malfoy, and though he begged her to save him, she said nothing.
SIBLINGS :
Brendan Edmund Redmond - The eldest and heir to the Redmond fortune, Brendan is the golden child. He was a Slytherin while at school and is studying to become a Potions Master. This fact, paired with her house sorting and skill, would've made Willow a favorite of Severus Snape. She was, in early years, til her mouth got too big for her own good. Brendan is quite busy, but he does take the Dark Mark along with his younger brother. He is killed during the struggle at Malfoy Manor.
Sebastian Claudius Redmond - Willow's twin brother is far more introspective and moody than she is. Much like Willow, he has incredible talent for Transfiguration, and plays Keeper on the Slytherin Quidditch team. He is much closer to their mother than Willow is, and while he would consider Willow his best friend and closest confidante, the two share wildly different opinions on the wizarding world and magical blood. In early years, Willow could get him goofing off and joking around, but as they age, he becomes more stoic. Sebastian receives the Dark Mark alongside Draco Malfoy and his older brother, and is soon ushered into service of his Dark Lord. During their last year at Hogwarts, Sebastian ignores all of Willow's attempts to sway him from his allegiance. However, when the battle rages on, he is unable to bring himself to kill her. Sebastian ends up sacrificing himself to save Willow's life.
FRIENDS :
Hermione Granger - Willow first starts speaking to Hermione during 3rd year, when they both begin Arithmancy classes. The material is incredibly complex and challenging, but they see a mutual benefit in studying together. After all, Willow's father is an arithmancer, and Hermione makes even better marks than Willow does. Their truce begins tepidly, but eventually, the two girls begin to become legitimate friends. By the beginning of fourth year, they actually spend time together outside of class. Hermione recommends Willow join the D.A., and by sixth year, they are best friends--especially considering that both are enduring tempestuous romantic relationships.
Ginny Weasley - Willow and Ginny become friends the summer before sixth year, while she stays with the Weasleys. They practice Quidditch together, and though they can sometimes bicker and argue, become quite close--especially since they can agree that Ron is a bit of an idiot. Their personalities are wildly similar and eventually, they end up playing for the same Quidditch team.
ENEMIES :
Draco Malfoy - In their first year, Willow and Draco actually get along quite well. They grew up knowing each other, as the Malfoys and Redmonds maintain a pleasant relationship; however, once Draco is made Seeker over her, any warm or fond feelings Willow had for him dissipate almost instantly. Their rivalry only continues to grow past third year, when Willow replaces him.
Dolores Umbridge - The most hateful woman in the world meets the most impertinent little girl at Hogwarts. There is no punchline. They despise each other almost instantly--Willow hates her even more for giving her the scar on her hand and then subsequently removing her from the Slytherin Quidditch team around the same time that the Gryffindor team is disbanded.
LOVE INTEREST :
Harry James Potter - See backstory for timeline of relationship.
Dynamics: Willow and Harry's relationship while dating is playful and lighthearted, mainly to distract from how dark the world feels around them. At first, it's mainly two friends who happen to make out sometimes, but as they slowly open up to each other, they become each other's fiercest protector and confidantes. Harry feels he can talk about things to Willow he can't to anyone else. Whenever he feels like he is a bad person or fears that he is too like Voldemort, Willow is always quick to reassure him. Willow feels accepted by Harry like nobody else, and she admires him for his tenacity and bravery. They banter a lot, but as they get older, turn to each other for comfort and solace. That doesn't mean they'll let the other win a Quidditch match, though. He calls her William, Wills, captain, mate, love, brainiac, and Redmond. She calls him Potter, captain, mate, love, golden boy, lover boy, and idiot.
Tropes: rivals to lovers, enemies to lovers, miscommunication, trauma bond, opposites attract, Romeo and Juliet, star-crossed lovers
