booked and busy as he is between back-to-back schedules, seyoon barely finds enough time to expand his minimalist wardrobe on his off days, sticking to comfortable, business casual outfits that can match whatever scene he may find himself in. his own personal flair shines through his accessories, from the various rings adorning his slender fingers to the sprawling raven tattoo on his shoulder blade.

ambitions.

seyoon does not dream of anything particular grandiose or glamorous; all he craves is a comfortable life in the manager role he is currently in, guiding talent and minding his own.

fears.

there is little that fazes the manager anymore, but what seyoon dreads most is betrayal by the ones he pours his care into, feeling helpless, and spending too much time alone.

virtues.

nurturing

self-assured

responsible

dry-humoured

vices.

picky

judgmental

unenergetic

reticent

snappy

cool, collected, and careful— seyoon's professional image has long since been cemented in the industry thanks to his tenure as a manager for some of the biggest names in entertainment. between his unwavering attention to detail, his snappy responses to the paparazzi, and his model-like stature, he doesn't mind being recognized by long-term fans of the talent under his wing, even occasionally joining in on their enthusiastic memes with a playful smile and calm demeanor. seyoon takes his job seriously, allowing no exceptions into his routine as he shoulders the burden of navigating this tumultuous industry so his people can focus on their own roles without added anxiety. his most successful work occurs when no one notices it, pulling the strings of tabloid publications and currying favor from broadcast executives in the secrecy of his office only to return to his artists' waiting rooms with a pleased smirk on his lips and a plate of diced mango in his hands.

though he dares not let too many people into his innermost circle, seyoon treats his closest confidantes with utmost care, taking on a nurturing role that translates into every aspect of his life. from personally cooking digestible meals if they struggle to bring themselves to stomach heavy foods to shielding them from the elements with his own broad frame, seyoon cannot rest easy until he guarantees the wellbeing of his people. in this manner, he does not care to spare anyone's feelings if it means he can help them understand he has their best interests in mind; rather, he never shies away from dealing some tough love where it's needed, especially to those he holds dearest. make no mistake, however— despite his lofty, composed persona, seyoon loves harder than anyone.

"i see through you, friend,
like a window frame, you're
not as polished anymore.
i see all the cracks and the way you act, all your colors are gone."

backstory.

born to two software engineers with middling wages in the outskirts of seoul, seyoon shared an extraordinarily tight bond with his family all throughout childhood. while his mother rarely had time for other activities, she worked remotely to make sure she had adequate time for childcare and paid extra attention to her parenting style in hopes of becoming the mother she never had growing up. seyoon learned every manner of useful life skills under his mother's wing, from essentials such as sewing and first aid to giving massages and applying makeup. on the other hand, his father only subbed in once the workday finished, using the hours he had free to moniter seyoon's academics while simultaneously stressing the importance of self-expression. seyoon also took it upon himself to learn how to properly cook and clean from his father, who carried those duties in the home so his wife could rest in the evenings.

since his early youth, seyoon held a strong interest in leadership roles, particularly ones where he had the opportunity to work alongside all sorts of people. extroverted from the get-go and mature beyond his years, he never faced many difficulties in managing his various extracurriculars, sitting comfortably at the top of his graduating class before going on to attend seoul national university to study talent management. seyoon's university years seemed to follow the same format, his extroverted yet humble nature leading him to popularity in his spheres and a variety of lucrative internships. it wasn't until he entered the working world that seyoon finally encountered obstacles in his journey, new personalities and situations that tested his ability to adapt in an environment unforgiving of mistakes. though he accrued many failures over the years, he was determined to achieve twice as many successes— a few setbacks would hardly be enough to shake his determination.

seyoon went on to manage a number of familiar names in the entertainment industry, but his biggest challenge came in the form of yeo woong, the rising star having newly signed onto yoonseul in the hopes of capitalizing on his booming popularity. taewoong was radiant, charismatic, everything an it-boy should be, but seyoon soon learned the grooves of his personality, the nicks and chips that hardly anyone else noticed— and just as quickly molded his attitude to accomodate them. despite their primarily business relationship, the young actor mattered a great deal more to him than most could comprehend, even breaking his mental promise to keep his work life strictly separate from his personal affairs. after a tense few months of blacked-out week nights and careful interventions over brunch as taewoong struggled to cope with the newfound fame, the duo parted ways for good and seyoon took a month off of work, using the time to decompress and re-establish his personal boundaries before his next assignment.

now, as a well-respected character and mentor in the industry, seyoon is content with the artist he currently manages, toeing a carefully managed balance between his guarded professional demeanor and his naturally nurturing disposition. though his schedule remains consistently stacked and people never become less of a headache to appease, the opportunities that could potentially await byeol through the filming of a much-anticipated new drama are simply far too enticing of an offer for the shark-like manager to pass up.

eye-catching but not out of place — for the most part, this seems to be the motto woong was crafted with. versatile features that don't stray too far into soft or sharp, just beautiful enough to be beyond the masses, just plain enough to be styled as needed. a cold impression, balanced by a sweet smile. a towering figure, countered by a lean build. a curated wardrobe, toned down when needed. woong is a well-designed total package, only a step away from perfect to make him seem real. tattoos he got in teenage rebellion have been long since erased, and the only things that mar his skin are scars when they suit the role. if he ever had a style of his own or a look that he preferred, he can no longer remember. and what does it matter, if he looks good, anyway?

ambitions.

at one point, he wanted to be the best. whatever he did, he wanted to be amazing, and he wanted people to see. that desire's still there in him, but it doesn't make his eyes shine anymore.

fears.

he fears the inevitable. he fears heights you eventually fall from, death that eventually comes. trust that eventually breaks, fame you eventually lose. and people, who eventually leave.

virtues.

charismatic

generous

adaptable

quick-witted

determined

vices.

moody

distrustful

manipulative

prideful

possessive

equal parts an old soul and a child at heart, both in the worst ways possible.

on first glance, woong is a charming mix of vibrant and calm. a reassuring presence on set, he does his job seriously and reads well between the lines, cracking the occasional joke when he sees the need to keep the mood light. he's easy to trust and even easier to like; in a profession lens, woong can be said to be impeccable.

it's when you cross the line into his personal life, unsurprisingly, that things get rough. stubborn in his cynicism, woong views everyone as a beloved acquaintance and a well-hidden enemy, never letting anyone prove otherwise. driven by an apathy born from feeling too much and an ego shattered & rebuilt too many times over, he's sharp at the edges and deceptively fragile.

volatile at his lows and mesmerizing at his highs, everything amazing about woong is entangled in his darker lines. his loneliness makes him cold and his coldness keeps him lonely. a difficult person to love, and so far nobody's been tough — or stupid — enough to last.

"I guess I just hope they look at me and feel something — joy, surprise, or even anger. Sometimes, that's all that keeps me going with what I do. They make me feel real. "

backstory.

it was love at first sight for the camera, when uniform model kim taewoong stood under the blinding lights and flashed a quiet smile. with every snapshot, it captured more of him — his beauty seen through its eyes, their future history.

whatever had been on woong's mind then, it was far less grand. maybe ramyeon. maybe the money he was going to make that was more than a part-timer's entire week, or the crazy story he had to tell his friends. love had sat in the far corner of his mind, with all the other abstract concepts of fate and ambition.

he was fifteen and he'd thought it all through. they were only going to use the pictures for printed ads, this was just going to be a one-time gig hidden from his family and life was going to go on, unaffected.

reality, of course, never quite plays out the way you imagine. woong learned this earlier on than most and yet a little too late, as his pictures were shared all over teen forums, the studio shrugged off all his questions, and his mother screamed about where the money went & the guts he must have.

it wasn't long until the agencies came knocking. they always do, when they catch a hint of fresh blood. within a month, woong was sitting awkwardly in a sparkling office, his parents scowling on either side. he remembers a lot about that day. his heartbeat, his reflection on the floor. the look they gave each other when they talked about compensation. the handshake, the introductions, the feel of the pen in his hand.

the relationship had finally begun, between him and the camera, a kid and an age old industry. something beautiful that grew into something cold and toxic, but maybe really always was — just like every relationship that woong formed afterwards.

he didn't hate fame, or acting, or the people around him. at first, he even thought he loved it. when they shoved him in front of a panel and told him to read lines, he sucked it up and gave it his best try. when he laid thinking about how terribly he was scolded on set, he told himself it's just how growing up was. when he received his first award and talked about how thankful he was to be set on this path, he meant it.

he did it all so seriously; he still does, in many ways. and maybe that made it worse.

yeo woong grew and grew and grew, so overwhelmingly bright and so much larger than himself, and all kim taewoong could do was be swept along in his tides. he was lost between the hectic schedules, floating in a sea of adoration and hatred from strangers, stuck on a pedestal and terrified to fall.

repressed emotions piled up like straws on a camel's back. disappointment, exhaustion, anger. he began to resent everything. how hollow and fake people were. how draining being someone else was, how every move was watched. how they made him stand under the limelight even at his most tired and yet never let him feel like his accomplishments were deserved.

leave me alone, he had wanted to cry and, at some point, he did. i won't feel trapped everywhere i go, i won't do only what i should, — things he should've said to the mirror, wanted to say to "yeo woong", but instead screamed at the nearest person he could — this is my success, my struggles, i made you what you are.

he doesn't know when it broke. when he opened his eyes one day, in a sober moment that had become rare, it was all scattered on the floor.

woong never liked messes. he picked it all up, put it back together, even though there were pieces it seemed he'd forever lost. insider whispers say he got his head back on straight, maybe the outburst was just what it took. maybe his turmoil was a shaping experience, and he's older now. behind clear eyes and the smile that's back on natural, no one really knows what going on with woong anymore.

chaeyeong has an effortless sort of pretty; the sort of pretty that was pretty in middle school, before she figured out how to do her hair or curl lashes, and only got prettier when she did. she's a fan of dressing up, and though her appearance is far from curated, her optimistic, confident demeanour seems to lend her enough charisma to pull off just about anything. she doesn't dress particularly adventurously, but she dabbles in a variety of styles focused on cute and slightly-edgy fashion pieces. she dyed her hair as soon as she graduated high school, though her current blonde is a recent change at the recommendation of the company's stylist. her ears are adorned with seven piercings total — three on the left, four on the right — and
scattered flowers
have been tattooed around her right calf.

ambitions.

contrary to belief, chaeyeong doesn't particularly care for fame. though she chases her dreams fervently, above all, she has always wished only for happiness; for herself, and her loved ones.

fears.

chaeyeong doesn't fear dying as much as death itself and all that it seems to encompass; it is the grieving and it is the leaving with regrets and it is the loneliness in facing what comes after.

virtues.

charming

enthusiastic

resilient

warm-hearted

gifted

vices.

obtuse

idealistic

overly trusting

emotional

impulsive

no one seems to love life quite as much as yoon chaeyeong. she brims full of it, every smile and every laugh embodying sunlight itself; glittering from every angle and warm to every sense. she is lovable in every sense of the word, as if the gods themselves implored you to do so.

there is an ease to being around her, for a girl so content with the world and so unabashedly herself. naturally vivacious, she carries herself with a contagious enthusiasm reified in every tinkling laugh and every cheerful word. she's a social butterfly to her core, who is as much friendly and warm as she is somewhat obtuse — a little dense, but always well-meaning and so ready to correct herself at a moment's notice if you would just tell her. her affection and kindness are manifest, and maybe that's part of the reason it's so hard for you to say it.

make no mistake; chaeyeong isn't exactly untouched by life's miseries, though she's simply obtained the sort of sunny disposition that wards off the grey tint that swallows others whole — she is so loved, and she is so blessed. if life is out to get her, she has not been given a compelling enough reason to think otherwise!

she's always been known to be multi-talented, having tried even the most obscure hobbies and picking those that she hadn't remarkably fast. there's always been a certain thrill to trying something for the first time, even if she doesn't get it immediately; her adventurous nature wants her to take every opportunity that presents itself, her impulsive nature demands she throw herself in head-first, and her delightfully idealistic worldview means she never finds herself regretting it. it'd be a bigger regret to not have tried at all!

you almost get the feeling she lives like she's running out of time.

yet, a jack-of-all-trades will always master none. a certain anxiety that plagues her these days; of a future uncertain tinged with the aimlessness of a wanderer. there's no other way for her to say it: she doesn't know what she wants out of life. people grow, and she feels stagnant, caught within the threads of a fantasy that has painted the world in colours of bliss that conceal dark scribbles that loop endlessly, round-and-round. sure, she knows happiness like the back of her hand — it's a feeling she has held in her arms and stitched into her heart — but what happens when it flitters out of reach, tucked away in a corner of the universe she doesn't know how to get to? what, then?

where does she go from here?

"all good things must come to an end, but it doesn't really mean the good things have to stop coming, right? because the world has so many good things to offer."

backstory.

maybe it only makes sense that chaeyeong is the result of a darling love story; between an artist and a doctor meeting by chance in the middle of a city overseas. she is his muse, he is the source of her laughter. they marry and settle down in the very place they meet, and on the cusp of spring and summer their first and only daughter is born with her father's eyes and her mother's smile.

chaeyeong barely remembers her formative years, only fleeting memories of her childhood home where she climbed that big old tree and ruined several flower beds. she recalls a wisened dog — "mine," her mother would tell her, "i got him when before i met your dad." — and being tucked into bed to the gentle voice of her father reading from a book that looked too-small in his hands — "i'd drawn it with you in mind, you know," he might say, longingly, "isn't your dad great at art? "

by all accounts, chaeyeong's earlier years the epitome of bliss; maybe to foreshadow what was to come.

she was 11 when she passed out without warning in school, and the cosy pink of her beloved room was replaced by the drab white of the hospital room. try as they might to make it more kid-friendly, massive decals of smiley-faced flowers and dogs made for sorry competitors to the real things. half a year later, the stickers disappeared too when her family moved to south korea to treat her with her mother's personal connection. the bed was nicer, but this hospital hadn't tried much at all to make it approachable; she resorts mostly to watching whatever dramas come on on the room's tv, obsessing over actors in search of a sense of normality.

"am i gonna die?" she asks her parents once. they'd never said it outright, but how could she not tell?

"no, you're gonna be fine." anxious eyes and whispered conversations tell her otherwise.

in the lonely nights where she stares at the rounded, metal outline of the hospital's ceiling light, chaeyeong thinks of everything she would do — would have been doing — if she were healthy. there is a nagging sort of urgency that eats at her, as if the entire world has continued moving except for her. when it storms outside and a tree branch taps incessantly at her window, she wonders if her time might never resume, or if she's about to run out of it.

maybe all it takes to love life is to come too-close to death.

her dad comes by once with a new book he'd illustrated — "aren't i too old for children's books?" "never!" — about a little caterpillar who wanted to fly, but was deathly afraid of entering his cocoon. he becomes a butterfly, of course, and can fly all he wants. "and i'm the caterpillar?" she asks, with a laugh; her dad shrugs with a soft smile. "you're whatever you want to be, sweetheart."

it is two surgeries and another two years of treatment later that chaeyeong is fully cured; her first night spent in her new-but-not-recent home nearly brings tears and though her mother still looks at her with those same anxious eyes, chaeyeong feels as if everything means so much more to her. nothing can stop her from throwing herself head-first into every passing interest — some more long-lasting than others — and her liveliness returns even stronger than it was before she'd fallen ill. high school is a new chance for her, and chaeyeong reaches for it with every amount of gusto she can muster.

inspired by her father's creative career, she enrols in an arts school and cruises through much of her educational years despite her packed schedule. cram school on tuesdays, dance on saturday, music on thursday, and just about every other slot filled up by some commitment or another. it's tiring but it's refreshing, especially when she thinks of that round little ceiling light.

everything is pretty much perfect; so much that she wonders sometimes if this is life's way of saying sorry for giving her such a bad hand at the start.

she gets into a prestigious fine arts program in university without much difficulty, carrying on with the same bliss she had before. her unexpected ticket to fame comes in the form of a request from an old high school friend, now an overworked production assistant at a broadcasting company. they'd been looking to replace a younger member who had quit suddenly, and chaeyeong accepted without much hesitation; she didn't have much of a reason to say no, after all!

thus, in the few months after graduation, she pops into love catcher as a wildcard latecomer and inadvertently captures the hearts of the nation — she hears more about her impact from her friends than having seen anything herself — and it is a month or so after love catcher that yoonseul entertainment reaches out. admittedly, fame had never been on her plan, but she's not bothered by the prospect of it. even if she's not particularly passionate about it, it's fun, she supposes; maybe it'll work out for her as a long-term thing.

she'll figure it out. probably.

backstory.

park kyungjin was born in daejeon, south korea to a financial manager and systems engineer. he didn't remain in south korea for very long; when he was two, the family moved to adelaide, australia for his mothers job. a year after moving to adelaide, his younger sister mina was born.

it didn't take long for kj to get catch the acting bug. he got his first official taste of the industry at the age of 5 when he took part in the christmas play his church put on. he played the drummer boy, a minor role, but he took the role seriously and ended up enjoying the experience as a whole. after christmas ended and the production wrapped up, he begged and begged his parents to allow him to act again, to be in another show. conceding to their sons wishes, his parents enrolled him in several after-school acting programs.

from that point on, acting was his main priority. every other day after school and on the weekends, he'd head to the local theater for his class and then rehearsal for whatever production the company was putting on. this carried on until middle school where he unfortunately aged out of the program. not willing to give up acting, kj studied performing/creative arts in middle school and senior school at seaview high school. just how he was in primary school, kj was actively involved in theater co-curriculars; taking part in whatever production the school was putting on as well as the local theater company.

when it was time to pick a university, his focus was a no brainer; it was obvious he was going to study acting, but the question was where. he applied and got into the acting programs at several schools but eventually, it came down to the national institute of dramatic arts (nida) in sydney, and the western australian academy of performing arts (waapa) in perth. he ultimately chose nida and doesn't regret his decision. three years later, kyungjin graduated from nida with his bachelor of fine arts (bfa) in acting.

upon graduating, kj decided he wanted to move back to south korea. so at the ripe age of 21, he packed his bags and headed home. no, not to daejeon, but to seoul. shortly after getting settled, he began looking around for auditions and casting calls. he got casted in a few shows as small, secondary characters but still managed to catch the eye of yoonseul ent. and signed with them. but the secondary roles didn't last long and soon he was only playing minor and background roles, sometimes without any lines. frustrated, he arranged a meeting with the company.

kj had no time to get a single word out before the higher-ups at the company announced they were thinking of terminating his contract. well, that wasn't on kj's bingo card. he wasn't happy with the company, but he didn't want to lose the contract, nor did he want to lose the connection to the acting world. panicked, he sought to compromise. in the end, they agreed that he'd keep his contract and stay in the company, but as a manager, not an actor.

it wasn't ideal. kj had no managerial experience at all since he only studied acting and had only been an actor. but maybe it would be okay.

wrong.

he's been in managerial role for nearly two years and it sucks. maybe he should quit.

Byeol fashion style can be described as graceful and feminine. Her wardrobe consists of delicate fabrics, gentle silhouettes, and a soothing color palette, capturing everyone's attention through its delicate details. Soft pastels such as blush pink, lavender, and baby blue dominate as main color scheme. She always accompanies her styling choices with delicate accessories such as bows, ribbons, headbands, and dainty jewelry.

Byeol strives to be recognized not just as a former idol who got lucky once in a drama but instead as a hardworking actress who can touch the hearts of the audience and inspire others with her acting.

Byeol sees her life like the first star in the night sky, glimmering through the darkest shades with the objective of providing light even in the worst outcomes. Hard work and always being passionate about everything she does, is her motto in life. She will follow her path just like a comet traveling in space with a kind demeanor and warm smile keeping it firm while still keeping loyal to her beliefs.

She desires to shine as bright as the sun and has made her goal to become the biggest star, but wishing is easier than actually obtaining it. Life has made it clear that everyone is a star that shines on their own accord, but when you are surrounded by shooting stars that would mesmerize anyone by their mere exitance Byeol has started to realize that the light she once thought she had is now dimming, and is now waiting until the last spark arrives signifying the end of her dream.

"Stars have the power to inspire poets, dreamers, and explorers. In the same way, you, inspire those around you with your ability to make ordinary moments extraordinary."

backstory.

Wang Byeol was born and raised in Seoul since she was a child she always felt more inclined toward the performing arts, rather than her subjects at school. Making up concerts or coming up with her own scenarios in her living room where her audience was her plushies and toys was the catalyst of what would become Byeol's path one that was encouraged by her parents with the condition of not slacking on school.

At the age of 15, Byeol was discovered by a talent scout while performing at a local singing competition. Her passion for performing and love of being on the stage caught the scout's attention, and she was soon offered the opportunity to train as a K-pop idol under DreamScape Entertainment after two years of rigorous training she was able to debut under Blossom a well-loved girl group by the general whose songs were always on the high spots of the Korean charts and in the covers of magazines.

During her time as a Blossom member, an opportunity came when she was able to cast a secondary role in "Moonlight Dreams" a drama that topped the viewer ratings when it was released and was always trending on the search sites. One thing that came up with being part of a famous drama was the recognition that came with it. Byeol's acting was praised during the emission despite the stigma of idols starting to act.

But after seven years of being a Blossom member, Byeol took a leap of faith and decided to leave the group and DreamScape Entertainment leaving behind an already-established brand as part of a girl group as she embarked on a new journey when she decided to pursue acting full time, she eventually signed with Yoonseul Entertainment when she expected her acting career to be as bright as she dreamed, but what was supposed to be a great journey was eventually clouded by a mediocre success, when despite her biggest efforts Byeol was never ever able to shine as she did when she was part of Moonlight Dreams as she was never able to achieve that leading role she desired the most and every role she landed was either received with criticism or a low to average rating view.

For others being in "Star Crossed Hearts" is just another drama on their packed year schedule, for Byeol is the breaking point between finding the stardom she worked so hard for or deciding to continue pursuing this dream is still worth it.

look book.

Cozy, casual, and clean. Not exactly wanting to be noticed, Hyunjae typically goes for layers and loose-fitting clothing. She is a big proponent of neutral tones, which often fade into the background. She keeps her accessories to a minimum, often opting for simple mass-produced jewelry and watches that don’t make her stand out.

ambitions.

Hyunjae used to dream of a life of thespian art and stagecraft until she saw just how far some people could take their acting skills. She’s since learned to never wish for something so influential.

Having her identity exposed would surely create some complications for Hyunjae. Discretion is key in her line of work.

Hyunjae has yet to realize that she has turned into the very person she despises—a deceitful, double-dealing performer. She uses her acting skills to her advantage; consequentially, becoming the same type of person as those she works to expose. While she puts forth a captivating and magnetic persona, she struggles internally with her constant cynicism. After years of experience in her work, Hyunjae has learned never to grow too attached to anyone. After all, they are almost always hiding some sort of secret side to them.

backstory.

Ri Hyunjae was born as the only daughter to a family of two older brothers. When she uses the term “older,” she means an eighteen and a twenty-year age gap. It’s not that she was necessarily an “accident,” but that her parents were empty nesting and going through a midlife crisis.
Growing up, she was the object of her family’s affection. Vaguely. Hyunjae’s brothers would often take her out to earn brownie points with attractive women, while her parents used her as an opportunity to learn from their previous parenting mistakes. While her two older brothers were quite successful in their respective careers, her parents wanted to prove that they could raise a star. Thus began the start of Hyunjae’s acting career.
She began performing at a young age, often earning the lead roles in school and community center plays. Eventually, her parents enrolled her in a performing arts academy. Hyunjae was a highly skilled and intelligent student while in school, but she quickly realized that not everyone shared the same level of passion as her. Instead, she found that most of her classmates were interested in the industry solely for the fame. The collective greed became nauseating, especially as more and more of her classmates became signed with various labels.
Hyunjae’s career trajectory changed when a journalist reached out to her about a former classmate's bullying allegations. She made the mistake of agreeing to the interview, soon after being compensated for her time and efforts. After realizing the compensation rates she received for simply sharing the truth, she decided to make a career of it.
