Hello all!
I've been up for a new roleplay and I'm on the lookout for new roleplay partners. I'm looking for a long-term partner that can be flexible with roles and more serious and dramatic topics.
I was listening to a song recently and the overall gist sparked some inspiration in me. I'll add the setting and plot below. Please, if you have a trigger regarding cults please move on to the next post.
Setting
In a rural state in America (possibly Utah, Idaho, or any rural location), there's a large community in a small town that is ever expanding. their little town is far from any big city, or any city in general. In this community everyone knows each other. There are about 400-500 people residing on the land (about half of that number being children) and living off of the land. It is modern day times, but they live on homesteads. They've created a town for themselves and everything they make and do is for them and their own community. Their technology isn't up to date and their living habits aren't either, for any outsider it would appear that they're living in the early to mid 1900's.
They call themselves the Devout Believers of the Holy Deliverer. They are a sect of Christianity, and they are more than intense about their beliefs. There is a single person that presides over these people, they simply call him the Guiding Star. He is more than a king to these people...he is their prophet. His father was the prophet before him, and his father before him. This man has several wives, children, and onlookers that follow in his footsteps. Men have four to seven wives and each of those women have a child or more depending on their age. Women are expected to marry, have children, devote her life to her husband, Christ, and the Guiding Star. Men are expected to lead the home in every decision, devote is his life to the Guiding Star and Christ, and have as many children and wives as was allowed by the Guiding Star. Their teachings are all about Christ, and how the Guiding Star is Christ reincarnate.
The setting can be this, or something more similar to Handmaiden's Tale where the government is mandating a sort of cult-like livelihood where everything is strict.
All of my plot ideas revolve around the character/s needing/thinking about escaping.
Plot 1: unfinished f/m f/f
One of the Guiding Star's numerous offspring has spent their entire life idolizing their father as an infallible deity. However, one fateful night, they stumble upon information about the world beyond their community, which gradually alters their viewpoint over many years. When the time comes for them to contribute to the community by marrying and starting work, the Guiding Star assigns them an absurd job and an even more preposterous fiancé(e). This becomes their tipping point. Escaping to the outside world is nearly impossible without transportation, which is scarce in their community.
Plot 2: Sapphic
From a young age, YC admired the other girls she played with. At nine, she declared her love to her best friend amidst a field of flowers. Overheard by an adult, she faced severe punishment and was ostracized until she was fourteen. Eventually, she found a sweetheart, and the whispers subsided. Yet, he was merely a facade, someone in a similar situation. For years, YC lived like this, pretending, until the girl she once confessed to, MC, approached her, distraught over an impending arranged marriage she couldn't accept, she confessed her reciprocal feelings. Was she truthful, or was this a ploy to test YC? or is this just an attempt to flee from her assigned marriage?
Plot 3: f/m f/f
Every Sunday, a chosen few venture beyond their community to the nearest cities to spread the word about their Guiding Star. Mc is among these chosen individuals. She holds a firm belief that those outside their community are doomed to Hell and an excruciating demise. Accompanied by three others who share her conviction, she enters the city undeterred by its foreignness, her curiosity about life beyond their borders limited to pondering why others don't join them. To her, the grimy streets and towering apartment blocks pale in comparison to the verdant fields and scenic vistas of her home. For nearly two years, they've ventured out to preach without incident. That is, until Mc knocks on yc's door—a person with whom she will forge a friendship and to whose doorstep she will return in the months to follow, every Sunday. Her attraction to yc defies logic; despite having a husband, children, and a Guiding Star that forbids women from having more than one partner (especially from outside the community) she returns as if she was being tamed by sin.
Right now, I'm preferring Plot 3. For all of them I didn't add much for YC because I figured you'd want to customize it. But the roles can be switched, I don't mind playing either of the characters as long as I'm female and it works for the plot.
Also, I wouldn't mind doing a plot you come up with, making one together, or changing any of the ones listed above.
Some things to keep in mind:
I only roleplay with adults,
I need you to write enough for me to respond (and no filler please. Usually, I write several paragraphs but I'm also okay with fewer),
have proper role play etiquette I think that's self-explanatory,
I will only be roleplaying a female (feel free to write any gender that suits your interest or identity!),
no current triggers, and third person writing.
I'm tired of the ghosting so either let me know in advance if you want to change anything, if you hate my character, or just turn your interests elsewhere if ghosting is common with you. I just want to nip it in the bud before it happens.
As for time period between responses... my minimum of going without responding is a week before I'm deleting the chat. Unless of course you tell me, you're taking a break or need time, the reason is irrelevant. Everyone needs rest and relaxation or just an internet detox. I've had people respond once every two weeks and I just can't remember anything that's going on, so I'll be passionless about it. Anyway, I'll try to respond on a timely manner. I have work and other responsibilities and I'm sure you do too.
Please don't be shy! If you like the post or leave any trace, I am messaging you! ( 。 •̀ ᴗ •́ 。)
