"Can patricians own slaves?"

Its commonly  held that the unexalted in the realm cannot own slaves.

but in the Corebook on page 44 it says concerning patricians  "They may not own more then 3 slaves"

which TO ME implies they may own up TO 3 slaves.

should I just ignor this as somthing that has been superceded?

True, as the 'patrician' designation refers to a family of sufficient lineage and recognition outside the Houses; however, there are rarely any patrician DBs that stay that way more than a brief period of time, and most of them are promptly adopted by a House with a business relationship with said patrician family. Therefore, most often, the term 'patrician' does refer to the unExalted.

Mortals cannot own slaves in the Realm, it violates Immaculate philosophy, but they may rent them from Cynis for various amounts of money, depending on what you want (a slave gang to clear out stumps is going to cost a lot less than an entire harem of exotic beauties from the Threshold after all).

Suprise Suprise.

THey've changed what it says on SLaves and slave ownership AGAIN.

now only the empress and great houses can own slaves.

I thought I read somewhere in 2E that, technically, all slaves of the Realm belong to the Scarlet Empress.
