Realistic or Modern Camp Opal: Characters

Solis

aries
Camp Opal.

It was supposed to be a fun summer.

It was supposed to be an easy job, not much to do but hang out with your pals and watch after a couple of rug rats.

Fate decided otherwise.

Camp Opal had just finished construction – brand new, high-quality cabins, bathrooms, and a mess hall were built around a nice little spring outside a small New Mexico town. Somehow, several of the excavation crew turned up missing.

The locals warned the camp owner not to set up in that area. They said it was skinwalker territory. They said it’d be suicide. That the children who attended that camp would be in grave danger.

The owner ignored the endless warnings. He figured the locals were just superstitious, that the stories were nothing but some Old Wives’ Tales.

It was our first night there – the counselors and CITs were required to show up a couple days early for some training and bonding time. Unbeknownst to us, there was an escape from the town’s psychiatric hospital. A convicted murderer and occultist was on the loose. We didn’t hear about it in time to prepare ourselves.

We weren’t expecting the bloodbath that followed. We definitely weren’t expecting whatever else was lurking in the hills around the camp. Humans could be stopped – whatever these things were… they couldn’t be.

This is our story. This is how we survived.

Rules:

  • Make 2 Characters. One who will be killed during the first act, and one who will survive all or most of the aftermath. There will be a limited number of entries allowed due to the fact that each user must create two characters.
  • One of your characters MUST die. Both can die if you wish to kill them both off, in fact it’d be best if we could have as few survivors as possible. We can talk about who of the remaining few will die in the OOC thread if at all necessary.
  • No playing God, please.
  • At least type one good paragraph per post, please.

Sally Moss

SURVIVOR

18

-Heterosexual-

Empathetic
*
Naive
*
Driven

Weapon of Choice: Baseball Bat

Sally was born and raised in Santa Fe into a moderately wealthy family. Her mother was the CEO of a modeling agency and her father was a relatively well-known photographer. Her family is also known to be quite generous, donating thousands to charity each year. Not to mention, Sally has already gained social media notoriety as an activist and a moderately successful YouTube personality . Sally was pretty much guaranteed to be successful after high school, and was set to model for her mother's agency. However, to make sure she knew how to have a work ethic, her parents decided to sign her up for a CIT position at Camp Opal. While not immediately enthusiastic about the idea, Sally is hopeful that this summer will be one she'll never forget.

Ichabod "Iggy" Pembroke

VICTIM

22

- Bisexual -

Comedian
*
Outdoorsy
*
Impulsive

Weapon of Choice: Bow and Arrow

Iggy grew up in a tiny little apartment with his mom and dad. He grew relatively bored of urban life, so his dad would often take him camping to give his son a little bit of fresh air, and to teach him outdoorsmanship. While his father was fond of hunting, Iggy stuck to shooting arrows into targets -- archery was his favorite activity. Blood always made him squeamish, so he stayed away from shooting anything that was actually alive. Besides hunting, Iggy grew to be very a very skilled outdoorsman, and often surprises people with how knowledgeable he is. Because he is such a scholar and has made a reputation of being a bit of a party animal and a socialite, people don't necessarily expect him to be outdoorsy.
Now fresh out of college with a degree in communication, Iggy signed on to be a counselor for Camp Opal so that he can pass on some of his knowledge to the newer generation and maybe make some new friends.

Audrey Wallace

One of the kiddos

Eighteen | Victim
Shy | Jokester | Stubborn
Heterosexual

Ever since she was born, Audrey was considered a pretty active child, and her altruism showed the most around people. But that didn't last long when she got into elementary school around the block. She is pretty shy in which some of her family members tried to fix but being in a rather toxic crowd, it was rather futile as she had already grown to become very insecure. Apparently, this also led her to being kind of blunt and somewhat insensitive when she didn't mean to while adding trust issues to the mix. Not only that, she became quite hot headed and stubborn which led her to act without a lot of thinking. However, she isn't a total lost cause and was able to show others that she was still the kind, funny person she used to be. Even though it wasn't as apparent as she became rather conservative with it.

Coming from a mid class family, Audrey never faced many hardships when it comes to family. Sure her parents could barely spare their time to spend some family time with her and her brother but she didn't mind since her cousin likes to stop by whenever he could and she would spend most of her time hanging out with her brother.
In school, she's an average student but was a stickler for rules. Though, she was the most lazy person in class. So, she procrastinates a lot on assignment and she's a bit of a leech to always copy someone else's work. But to be honest, she just needed someone to tutor her to understand what she was supposed to do with it. Upon hearing the camp of Opal, Audrey saw this as an opportunity to add more experience to her list. When actually, it wasn't really her choice to be there but her cousin was there so it was cool.

A machete that she somehow managed to find.

P.S : She is the least athletic here so running around for a longer period can really tire her out fast. Though she's a pretty fast sprinter.

Nolan Powell

One of the counselors

Twenty Eight|Victim
Silent | Somewhat bitter | Cautious
Heteroflexible

Nolan came from a family that never really had much. His parents were never there for him and he was the only child. Ever since he was young, he would have to take care of himself and take on some of the house work while sparing his time for school also. Nolan had a really good friend but he passed away after graduating highschool after Nolan decided to work as a local mechanic and plumber for the rest of his life. Moving into a cheap but shady apartment in a town full of thugs and criminals, the male had come across a few of them that led him to be involved in several cases but the police could never link the evidence directly to him since he managed to get rid of the evidence that might incriminate him for the time being. Upon hearing this job as a counselor at the camp, Nolan took this as a getaway from the hectic life he had in town and even invited his cousin since he though it would be a good idea to get her out of the house for a bit.

Lead pipe and a wrench he could throw at your face.

P.S : He had killed someone before so he is somewhat able to throw a few hits without getting hit.

Name:
Benjamin J. Delaney

Age:
26

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

Personality:
Courageous
Patient
Athletic

Weapon of Choice:
Fire axe

Backstory:
Delaney was born and raised in Mill Creek, West Virginia, a little town out in the sticks. His father was a police officer, mother a housewife - nothing more to his life than being some average country boy. He and his father would go on regular hunting trips, hiking and camping in the bountiful and nearby forests. By the time he was eighteen, leaving high school, Benjamin had no other idea of what to do but pursue a career in the thing he loved most - the outdoors. During the summer he set himself up as a paid fire watch. Sitting in a lonely tower and observing the world tick on by. In the winters he'd take on logging and trucking jobs. It was an ex-girlfriend who drove him towards helping youth-groups reconnect with nature, leading towards a path of counselling at summer camps instead of his lone scouting. Well-versed in wildlife with a passion for teaching and reaching out to others, Benjamin is the embodiment of wanderlust. Having taken out the previous summer away to hike the Appalachian trail, he's returned as enthusiastic as ever.
