Erik came from a culture rich in gods and spirits, so learning he was a half-blood wasn't too surprising. He first learned when he was 10, at the time he and his family were on a trip. At one point they stopped to have a picnic near a bluff. While his mother was distracted he climbed up to the top of the bluff and when he reached the edge a strong wind (which he later found out to be a Venti) blew him off. He was terrified as he fell, but just before he hit the rocks below, he discovered that he was floating. Upon returning to his mother, he questioned her about this, Learning of his father. By the next summer he began attending Camp Half-Blood.
