Wait for me to announce when we'll start!
Milly jumped down onto the platform as the train chugged off into the distance. She looked across to where she could just see Tintagel village on the horizon. It had been around two hours by train which she had spent reading, squashed in between an old lady and a grumpy teenager. Her mums car wasn't good enough to drive that far and as always she had " Logan to think of", she said that so often that Milly wondered if she cared about her at all. She plodded over towards the village turning up the collar of her black admirals jacket and started to jump through the puddles her red wellies turning muddy brown. She ignored the stares of people around her who were probably thinking that she was too young to be out on her own. Milly did look a lot younger than her age. She began to see crowds of young people walking through the village and followed them, they were most likely going to Camalot Academy too. She felt a nervous excitement brewing in her stomach which had been there ever since she had got the letter last week. The houses began to thin and make way to fields and then over in the distance the sea! Milly began to run towards it down the hills. Over on a headland she could see a long castley building. Camelot Academy.

Just about everything about the place was strange. If ever there was a middle of nowhere, it was apparently seated in the heart of Britain, and it had a railway station called Tintagel Station. Narrowing his eyes, he could make out the castle in the distance. His heart jumped at seeing the walls and towers, he'd always wanted to become a real knight when he hadn't been busy becoming an adventurer, a pilot, a cook, a cowboy, a policeofficer, a superhero, and just about everything else.

Following the bustling crowd of children and teens, he soon found himself in a rather peculiar village. It looked modern enough, but there was a peculiar vibe about the buildings and the people that were walking about there that he couldn't quite place. He wondered if there was an armory somewhere, seeing how this was supposed to be Camelot Academy. Well fancy that Arthur, he thought, we have guns now.

Grinning at the thought he dragged his luggage after him, through the village and out onto a meandering road, slicing uphill through a sea of grass swaying in the wind. It was a bloody drag to reach the top, but he managed. A frown settled on his face. Could it be?

There wasn't a sign. The grass in the courtyard was freshly cut and there wasn't a sign telling him to stay off it. He needn't to be asked twice to make good use of that fatal error and immediately stormed onto it, glancing around far too happily. He'd never quite understood why the grass was holy in all those uptight colleges and schools and he already liked this place better because of it. Not bothering to make sure if no one else was looking he dropped to his knees and smelled the freshly cut grass, pressing his nose firmly into the dirt.

Carl Baker stared out the window at the top of the tower at the new students. They were all dragging their suitcases behind them, not changed yet into Camalot Academy's navy uniform. Carl smiled as a boy dropped down to smell the grass, he obviously appreciated the smell of freshly cut grass. Carl surveyed the students that reached back all the way to the village. He wondered if any of them were like him, those would be the ones he would teach to be knights once more. Carl hurried down the spiral staircase ready to greet the students- new and old. He watched as the new kids started to file onto the assembly hall while the old ones went straight up stairs greeting him as they passed.

With a bag infront of herself, and a hand around the reins, a young girl rode until she reached the grass infront of the school. An older man was on a horse just behind her, with another female. The two on the second horse, looked quite much like the first girl, the one on a white horse which was much taller than herself. When they reached the fields of grass infront of the school, the girl dressed in the school uniform already jumped down from the horseback and landed on her feet, dragging the bag down with her.

Very much like she had, the man from the grey horse did too, and walked over to his daughter, placing a hand on her shoulder. "We'll always love you dear, we'll see you when we can" There was love in his voice, and he gave her a thight hug, brushing over her cheek with a scarred finger.

"Of course father. Now, I have to enter the school and make you proud, don't I?" Despite her young age she spoke with confidence of one much older than her.

She waited until her father had mounted the horse, and was on his way away from the school with the woman who barely spoke to Marina at all during the trip. They had a long journey back home to go, and it was only the last part they had done by horseback. In a way, horseback riding to the school had been a great idea, they would get to spend some quality time together then before they would have to seperate.

Turning away, her head held high, she started on her walk to the school. The look of a boy kneeling on the grass, almost like he was praying to some god made her chuckle as she walked past, the almost black bag thrown with one strap over her shoulder, and being held up with her left hand.

Hugo pulled a fat worm out of it's hole in the grass and let it crawl over the palm of his hand. "I name thee Sir Crabcrawl," he declared, "may all your foes tremble at the sight of you!" Grinning from ear to ear, he gathered a bit of dirt in his other hand and made a nice spot for the wriggling grey lump. Dirt stained his knees and a streak of mud marked his cheek as he brushed a flie away. Worse still, he scraped past a loose stone in one of the corridors and his trouser ripped at the knee.

All in all, he looked the opposite of tidy and well-behaved as he came strutting into the dining hall, sat down at one of the tables and deposited Sir Crabcrawl onto the table. Resting his head on his hands, he watched the worm crawl around in circles. He had arrived early so there was probably still some time before their classes would be announced and he'd be shown around. He wondered what classes they were going to get anyway. He hoped drama was one of them as he deemed himself quite capable of acting.

Glancing around, he wondered if he ought to come over to someone or if someone would come over to him. Not that it really mattered, he already had one friend, and Sir Crabcrawl gave him an encouraging nod, as far as worms and nods go.

Milly ran down the green hill and over the strip of land that connected Camalot academy to the land. The building looked even more beautiful close the towers rising into the sky. She passed the crumbling ruins of Tintagel Castle on her way down but her brain barely registered them, she would get to look at them later. Milly stopped breathless in front of the school and grinned to herself. Her previous school had been tiny but this was well... massive! Milly walked up the short flight of stairs and into the school building. There were corridors on the right and left and stairs in the middle that swept up to either side, seeing a teacher at the side Milly asked with a smile "Where do new kids go?"
Carl looked at the girl in front of him grinning cheerily. It was quite obvious she was new. He wondered if she would be in his class, she seemed pretty enthusiastic . " All new students are to go to the hall for an assembly, it's on your right." Carl said pointing with his arm."I'm Mr Baker by the way. You'll see what I teach if your in my class."

The girl looked at him curiously searching him for signs of what he might teach.

" Milly Sinpkins. " She replied before skipping into the assembly hall.

Faith stood atop the hill and looked down at the academy, luggage bag slug over her shoulder. Well this was it, strange new place here I come. With a sigh, she started across the grass, feeling out of place. From here the school already looked intimidating and way grander than anything she'd ever seen before, and she hadn't even stepped inside yet. As she stepped through the door, Faith's jaw dropped and her bag hit the floor, complete shock and slight awe overtaking her.

From the moment Lydia spotted her new schook, she knew that her normal life would change in so many ways as soon as she stepped inside. Dragging her bag, she rushed down the hill, breathing in the salty, sea air. As she reached the front door, Lydia saw a group of children filing in. She felt her cheeks burn as she slipped unnoticed through the crowd. With a jolt, Lydia realised that she didn't have a clue which way to go. I'll have to ask someone, she thought shuddering. She hated talking to people, especially ones she did not know. Breathing heavily, she walked towards an older girl with long blonde hair who was gazing round at the astonishing school. Heart thumping furiosly, Lydia shuffled towards her and murmured, "Exscuse me, where do the new children go?" Her hands were trembling now as the girl looked up at her.

Her head turned at the sound of a voice and looked down at a young girl stood beside her. "Heya" Faith said with a smile "Sorry, I don't quite know, I'm new here myself" she explained "But why don't we find out together, maybe the teacher over there can help?" came her suggestion before she headed over to the man stood at the bottom of the stairs after picking her bag back up. "Excuse me, could you tell me where the new kids are supposed to go?" Faith asked, smiling back at the girl who'd asked her

Marina, used to being strong and pushing her body kept on walking, just following the voices from the students who sounded like they were new by the words they said, and ended up in a hall full of tables and chairs. The bag landed on the flood, and she pulled a chair out from the table. There was a worm on the table, which was somewhere it had no excuse to be.

Picking up a hairpin from her bag, she flipped the worm off from the table, letting it fall to the ground before she turned to the boy next to her. "How come you just let that worm be on the table?"

Amelia smiled to each and everyone of the students she walked past, high-fiving some who she had been making bets with the year before, and making jokes with the young girls who were giggling like fools. It was fun to see how the students all changed from they got in there, from being young, unexperienced and often, not in control of their own actions, to gradute with grace and glory. It was what made her smile. It was how she had been once upon a time too. Walking into the assembly hall, with a grin as usual, a playful glint in her eyes and the dark hair pulled up in a ponytail, she was ready to see this new group turn into new knights.

Oblivious as he was to the outside world, he was made all too aware of it when a girl with dark-brown hair, eyes and firm brows sat down next to him -the horror- and flipped Sir Crabcrawl off the table as if he was but a worm in the mud. Which he was, but that was beside the point. "No!" Hugo called, but it was too late. The poor creature fell to the floor and met it's maker under the sole of a passer-by.

"You absolute nitwit!" he turned to scowl at the girl. "What did you do that for?" he demanded to know. Just a brief glance told him that she was some holier-than-thou, snobby know-it-all who would run away in horror at the faintest hint of dirt or mud, or blood.

Carl smiled as he saw to children walk up to him, a short one with red hair and a taller blonde one.

" Well were having the assembly for the new kids now, I'm Mr Baker by the way, the halls just through there." Carl took a hasty glance at his watch." As a matter of fact, I'd better be going too, come on then!"

Carl shepherded the two girls to their seats and went up to the small raised dais.

Milly peeped round the corner of the door to the hall which was filled with kids, mainly her age but a few that were older. She scanned the hall for a place to sit and found one, next to the window on the other side. Milly pushed her way through the ground weaving in and out of people to get to the place. She plonked herself down feeling suddenly content. Her eyes wandered to the other students who seemed okay. The two girls next to her looked nice too so she turned to them and said" Hello!I'm Milly Simpkins!"Milly extended her hand enthusiastically for the red headed girl to shake.

After flipping the worm away, she slipped the hairpin back down into the bag, and stayed calm, even as he called her a nitwit. Who even cared about such insults? No, she was too good to care for such a thing. "A worm shouldn't be on the table. It's unhygienic!" She crossed her legs, one over the other and motioned for the others around. "Do you really expect them to wish to have a creature that lives in mud and earth on a table? I certainly don't expect so."

Clearly, this was already going to go badly. That kid already gave off the vibe of being a little twat that did nothing but what he wanted to. "It's a wild animal anyway, you were probaly torturing it by keeping it out of the moist earth for so long."

"Torture? You just killed Sir Crabcrawl, how is that for torture! Just because you wear the same stuff as the bloody queen doesn't mean every bit of dust is unhygi- unhygienak- nick...nack- nick!" He glanced around the hall for support but no one seemed to be particulary interested in their petty argument. "Besides, Sir Crabcrawl could've been an honorary member of this school for all you know!" He threw is very inconsiderable weight behind the elbow that he thrusted into her side. By all that was holy, he prayed that the girl wasn't in his class.

Reluctuntly, Lydia shook the outstreched hand and smuled faintly at the confident girl next to her. Lydia was not feeling confident at all - she was scared and was feeling a little queasy.

"Hello. I'm Lydia..." She mumbled, staring at Milly's beaming face with big round eyes. Lydia shuffled closer to the kind girl who had sat with her. She felt a lot safer and calm at her side and at that moment, Lydia decided that she liked her a lot! More than the other one at any rate.

" By the way, I never got your name she said to the kind girl, "I am Lydia." For the first time in a while, Lydia smiled at someone besides her Mum.

"Thanks Mr Baker" Faith called after him as he left with a grin while she sat down. She laughed slightly as another girl sat down on the other side of her, sticking her hand across her as Faith leaned back to make it easier for the small girl. "Hi to you too Milly" she said meaning it.

A the red-head girl shuffled closer, Faith put her arm around the girl's shoulders "Nice to meet you Lydia, I'm Faith"

Carl clapped his hands for silence and watched as the hall began to quieten.

" Hello everyone and welcome to Camalot Academy! I hope that all going to try your hardest and do the school proud. There won't be any lessons this afternoon but they start tomorrow morning, you'll find your timetables in your dorm. Right now though you'll go straight to your dorms and get changed and unpacked then be down for dinner in a hour. Years 7,8 and 9 you'll go left at the top of the stairs to your respective dorms in which you'll be sorted by year and gender. Right I'll see you for dinner!"

"yes, torture! He needs moist! So to be killed is less of suffering than staying at the table for your entertainment" the girls voice was low as the teachers walked into the room. There was no way those two in their 20's were anything but teachers. When he pushed an elbow into her side, she let out a small groan, but placed her hand from the opposite side of the body against his arm. "You're supposed to be a knight? Grow up, you're a child" She glared at him before turning towards the dark haired man who clapped his hands.

So they had to go up there?

Alright, that she could do.

Ignoring the burning pain in her side, she picked up her bag again and threw it over her shoulder, walking straight towards the stairs and jumped up them, two steps at a time before she reached the top.

Milly jumped up once the teacher had finished and ran out of the room, she was so excited to see her dorm! Milly looked up the big staircase and sprinted and stood panting at the top. She looked at the students below milling around and a girl jumping up the stairs who Milly smiled to before turning left to her dorm and left again, following the signs to Yr 7 girls dorm. Finally she saw the door and let herself in and stood awed at what would be her home for the rest of her school life. There were four sets of bunk beds with cosy cushions and duvets. Milly jumped up to the top bunk on the left nearest the window and dumped her stuff.

When the speech was finished, Faith pulled her arm back and stood up "I'll see you around Lydia" Faith said with a smile as she turned and headed for the door, slinging her bag back across her shoulder. Once out into the hallway, she headed up the stairs and worked her way to what was going to be her dorm. This room was pretty cool as well, way bigger than any room at home she had to say. Flinging her bag on the top right bunk next to the window at the back, Faith stared out at the surroundings with a smile on her lips.

As Faith stood up to leave, Lydia felt alone. She was scared again. Slowly she got to her feet and looked round. She knew no one apart from... Rushing off, Lydia kept her eyes on Milly, who was sprinting to the dorm at lightning speed, and followed her. Breathless and excilarated, Lydia rounded a corner and - BAM! She slammed into Milly who had been admiring the room. The two girls tumbled to the floor and landed in a heap. Lydia looked at Milly's startled face, Milly looked at her red, embarrased face. Unable to hold it back much longer, Lydia collapsed in a fit of giggles. To her relief, Milly laughed too! Standing up, Lydia stared at her sleeping dorm and gasped.

"Can I sleep here?" She asked, pionting at a comfy looking bed.

" Sure!" Milly said glad for the icebreaker." I've already bagseed that one" Milly climbing back up to her bed. She took the school uniform out and put it on, the shirt scratching her skin." You know how to tie ties?" Milly asked holding out the navy and gold striped tie. Milly didn't have the slightest clue how to tie one, she thought she'd never need to know.

"As a matter of fact, I do!" Lydia answred in a small vioce. She got into her new uniform, the clean white shirt feeling fresh against her skin. After quickly tying her tie, she whizzed through the process of Milly's then started to unpack her bag.

" Thank you!" Molly said looking down at her tie before pulling her blazer on.

" It's dinner in a bit so we might as well go downstairs and explore!" Milly said dragging Lydia's sleeve and pushing the door open. She smiled happily, this place already felt like home.

"You're supposed to be a knight? Grow up, you're a child"

Bloody cow. No one had handed him the memo on becoming a knight, though he had, at times, craved to be one. Still, how could he possibly become a knight and assemble his grand army if this vicious wormslayer could kill off his friends without consequence? Oh no, there had to be consequence. Something about putting worms in her cereal struck him as an appropiate punishment, though he felt bad for the worms for being thrown into the yapping cavity that was the girl's mouth. And that they'd be eaten of course...

Hugo followed the teacher's instructions and, to his horror, noted that the girl was in the same year as him. Stepping inside his dorm he took little time to admire the bed, or the ceiling, or the tapestry. Instead, he belly-flopped onto the matress and pressed his nose in the cushion. Ah, was there any better smell then freshly washed linnen? As soon as his dorm mates started to arrive he slid off the bed and pretended to be unpacking, which wasn't as easy considering he'd forgotten to bring up his luggage. After a few moment of theatrical fumbling, not limited to reaching for objects that weren't there, he managed to find the way out and obtain his belongings.

It took him almost half an hour to get changed. Trousers were always a problem. He didn't want any of his dorm mates to see his skinny, pale legs or his too short undies. Hell, trousers involved more acrobatics and inconvenient positioning than putting on a swimming suit on a bloody beach. To his horror he discovered halfway through that he'd put his button up shirt on inside-out. The mess of flushed cheeks and not exactly co-operating clothes eventually managed to look somewhat reasonable, even if he had nearly choked himself with the tie. Already he could tell that none of the boys here would become his friend. They were talking about girls and breasts, yuck! As if that was interesting! They were damned traitors they were, mislead by the red jam girl's put on their lips and the black marker on their brows. He'd never quite understood why they were drawing on their own faces anyway, but it didn't matter. Girls were more his enemies than snails were. Snails always scared the living hell out of him.

Careful not to step on the dust mites in the tapestry, Hugo headed back down and waited for dinner to start. perhaps he could manage to toss a few chips off wood into the girl's soup. If they were having soup and if she dared to sit at the same table as him.
