Roleplay
This is a roleplay set in the middle-class/gentry society of Regency England, as depicted by Jane Austen. It takes place over the course of a ball, hopefully an occasion of comedy, romance, intrigue and scandal…
Setting
Sir Walter James and his family throw the most fashionable balls in the area, and always draw the entire neighbourhood to the festivities.
There is an entrance-hall, the main ballroom, the dining room/main drawing room (for supper, cards, conversation and whathaveyou, which also features a pianoforte and a harp for those young ladies who wish to perform), the ladies’ drawing room (where you might retire after dinner or for a quiet moment), the gentleman’s smoking room (no ladies allowed!)
In the early evening, the young ladies who have been invited to James House to dress finish their toilette as the house is made ready for the guests.
The festivities usually begin with the awkward trickle of early guests, who show themselves into the ballroom or mill around in the drawing room). Once enough guests have arrived there is dancing throughout the night. Supper is served at 8, and throughout the night tea and cards are provided for those who do not dance (or need a break from dancing).
To begin
Once we are ready, I will start the ball rolling with an intro.
If you want to join, see the expressions of interest thread!
