The year is currently 2070. You are a resident at an unknown facility, a member who has been "selected", or willing decided to join C.A.N.I.S. A woman in a white suit comes up to you with a smile and shakes your hand. "Hello. You're here to join? Wonderful! Here you will have food, medical care and shelter. Children will have a semi-education. Oh you see the fences? Don't worry, that's to keep you all safe. After all, we wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you." The person who is speaking to you smiles deviously which you don't notice. Shortly after your arrival you are led to an area known as the Testing Room and injected with a drug that you are told will help find a cure for the world illness that is affecting people globally. Yet something they give you makes you tired and you can't fight it. Upon waking you find yourself in a locked, windowless room that is bare of furniture where you will spend the next four days heavily monitored by hidden cameras. Should you survive at the end...well...you're never escaping here. "Welcome to C.A.N.I.S. Experiment Number_________."

Location: Adolescent Wing ​

Situated somewhere within the desert along the Utah and Arizona border was an unnamed facility that didn't exist on any map. Nor had it been able to be picked up by satellites years ago when first opened nor internet searches or phones could pick it up. However, as of a year ago, technology became obsolete with the gamma ray burst that had been predicted by astronomers and largely ignored by the world governments. These dredges of society, the people that didn't matter were located here within an unnamed facility, their records having been erased and now with technology down for who knew how long, would likely be unrecoverable. It was almost too good to be true in a way. The grounds themselves were a mixture of scrub land and desert. Situated far out in the wilderness, no telephone lines could be taken and no roads seemed to lead in or out. The people who lived here, patient and staff, also died here. How they got water for everyone was a mystery as was their food and medicine supplies, yet it was likely provided by the United States Government. Nobody knew how for any shipments in would be delivered when all the patients and staff were asleep.

A sharp knock came on the door of Room 12, situated on the left-hand side of the right branching hallway of the girl's side of the Adolescent Wing. Facing the south of the complex and connected to the Courtyard, it was where the three wings connected, each having an entrance and forming a triangle. "UP!" shouted a guard, the door hit again and the fifteen-year-old known as "Mouse" awoke with a start. "Inspection in five minutes!" The mute girl flinched violently at the shout and hurried to gather a change of clothing from her dresser. Grabbing a yellow blouse and some blue jeans, she quickly changed and ran a brush through her hair before rushing out the door and nearly crashing into the guard who glared at the mute lupine and stepped out of the way in the nick of time, causing the black-haired girl to fall on her face. Winching as she hit the floor, she bit her lip, yet no sounds escaped her. Instead she hurried to her feet and scrambled down the hallway to the reception desk where she quickly signed her number and room number onto the form. That was how you signed your name...well you now were a number once arriving here, your names....your identity disappearing as soon as you entered.

Somewhere within the Expanse, a brownish-black wolf lay stretched out within the den, night still upon the world. The sun had not yet risen and neither had the hulking beast that slept within the hidden den within a mountain, the brush concealing the entrance. He might have slept all day except dreams plagued his sleep, his body twitching and running in his sleep, until with a start he woke. Gold eyes blinking rapidly, the wolf tried to slow his beating heart and racing pulse. Urrng. Morning already? Yawning, the wolf slowly gathered his legs underneath him and pushed himself up before shaking his pelt out of dust and sand. The wolf shookhis head to clear the sleep from his eyes as his stomach rumbled. Ever since he had escaped from that place, he had been on his own and trying to survive in a harsh world. A world that was different from the stories of his parents. His nose twitched as he scented the air, scuffing a paw on the ground.

There were others there. Not like him and like him in a way. Not children born into the place but of people that were lupines...shifters. Humans with a wolf soul forced upon them. Was it fair to allow them to stay within that place, to live and die alone? Was it safe for him to return to such a place and risk his own capture or death? I have to try. There may be some who wish to get out...but there may be those who are happy there, strange as that is to think about. I need to think on this. His stomach growled and he flushed beneath his fur. Maybe after I catch a lizard for breakfast.

Alana awoke rather suddenly when her door was pounded upon, the female quickly changing into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt before pulling on a pair of plain black sneakers and rushing out her door. The guard who woke her had already moved onto the next room as she began jogging to the desk where she hurriedly signed her experiment number and room number before moving out the door and filing in with the rest of the adults. Her arrival was a rather calm one as she willingly came to the facility when she was approached about the C.A.N.I.S. Program, though she believed she was doing something good for humanity when she got the shot...

Lucifer had already been awake and dressed when his door was pounded on for inspection, the male having been wearing a plain black tank top, jeans, and sneakers. once the guard knocked on his door, he rose and left without a word, jogging to the desk and signing his experiment number and room number before he left the building and entering the courtyard. The male's arrival to the faclity was a slightly odd one, as he was picked up off the streets and brought to the facility. From the start he suspected the story about the shot being to help humanity was bull, and was given it while kicking and screaming.​

As the first knock came to his door, Carmine opened it before a second one had a chance to land. He'd been up, dressed, waiting, and listening throughout the morning hours. One thing he would never get used to was that knock, so he always tried to catch it. Affixing a killer smile as he opened the door, he let the guard know he was wide eyed and bushy tailed and maybe only vaguely going stir crazy with his grin. As he left the room to sign in, he muttered his name under his breath again and again, making the hum of his low voice sound like a song stuck in his head. Not loud enough to bother anyone, but just enough to try to maintain his wits.
Carmine strode to his respective spot awaiting morning inspection wearing his usual black athletic wear long sleeved zip-up top and non-descript dark jeans, nice and worn in like he preferred for movement. Not quick enough though, he thought as flashes of his unceremonious pick up caused bile to rise in his throat. A ghost, a spectre in the world he used to know now reduced to a number and a new onslaught of painful memories.​

The bed itself, although firm and plastic like, was probably one of the most comfortable places she has slept in a while. Despite knowing that it was hard to sleep. Dani tried to tell herself it was the new environment, but in reality she knew that it was the warmth of her mother beside her that she missed the most—not that she would ever admit that out loud. The sound of heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway and Dani listened as the stopped in front of the door. Three, boisterous knocks echoed through the small room followed by “inspection.” She could hear her roommate rustle and then still. Slowly and quietly the peachy-blonde locked girl grabbed clothes—jeans, a plain-t, and some shoes—and then meandered into the bathroom. Going through the morning routine she quickly finished and realized that her roommate was still not up.

“Hey,” Dani’s voice cut throw the silence, “You gotta get up.”

There was some minor grumbling, but no movement. Well, at least she tried. Dani glided through the door just as one of the guards was walking by. They narrowly missed each other only because she young girl managed to nimbly move out of the way. She muttered under her breathe, “Oh yeah. I’m do big and bad pushing children around. Look at me.” Suddenly the guard stopped and swiveled, but by that time Dani was already walking away at a casual pace toward the front desk. Standing on the tip-toes she signed in and walked through the door.

Out of everything Poppy was a graceful sleeper is not one of them. Her kinky honey chocolate curls shot out in a mass of chaos and half the covers had been pushed off the bed as if she had been tossing and turning in her sleep. At 6:00AM on the dot her upper body shot up and she raised both hands over her head to complete a massive back arching stretch. Getting up early had been a habit since the women was young. Rolling gracefully out of bed--and doing a couple more stretches--Poppy headed to the bathroom in the female wing. After a nice, relaxing shower she completed the rest of her morning routine, which included taming her wild hair. It had taken Poppy a long time to learn to love her hair. Several kids had made fund of her for it when she was younger, but now she appreciated it's beauty and uniqueness.

After getting it just right she exited the bathroom and started to get ready. Today was a dress day. Putting on the black pair of leggings, knee-high boots, and a dress Poppy proceeded to the final touches on when a knock sounded against the door and then a silvery voice said "inspection." Finishing up Poppy waited for the women to leave before exiting. Despite not wanting to be here she figured it was easier to play along instead of getting into the more trouble. Trouble is not who she was. Making her way to the front desk she signed in and then proceeded past the door. Today was the day.

Mazi was already awake when people started walking around, knocking on doors. She hadn’t slept at all the night before due to a pounding headache. She dressed herself in her typical over-sized hoodie and black leggings, tossing her hair up into a messy bun. She heard the door next door to hers get knocked on and as soon as the knocks finished on her neighbouring room, she opened hers and walked out, startling the guard who was about to knock on her room. She gave them a look that said “Don’t touch me, not in the mood.” And kept going without a word. She Signed her number and room and went to the spot she was to go for inspections crossing her arms and lowering her head to avoid the light as much as she could, which was irritating her head ache even more. She groaned and stood waiting for what would inevitably come next.

Silo groaned at the rapping on his door and begrudgingly rolled out of bed pulling on a pair of dark jeans, a white T-shirt, and a grey bomber jacket, his usual attire. He walked out the door and did a friendly smile to the staff member knocking on doors. As much as he hated this place, he tried to be as kind as he could without losing his cool. He made his way to sign himself in, yawning along the way and stretching. Yup. Still hate mornings. He thought to himself as he penned down his number and room making sure to repeat his name after so as not to become just a number. He walked to where he was supposed to wait for inspection and stood quietly. Let’s get this day started.

Grail S. Harrions-011-Alpha Male-Wolf Form

Grail left the cave where he had been spending his nights for the past week or so, having taken to wandering the Expanse as needed for water and hunting purposes. He never ventured beyond an immediate area of a couple miles so if he was going to do this and try to get people out, then it would be the first time that he had met another lupine or human even in quite some time. The wolf scrounged around for a meal, knowing with it being not daylight, he might have to dig for lizards or wait until later in the day to find one basking on a rock. If he was lucky he might be able to catch something else but with his size and build, it would be difficult to move like a female or a smaller male with agility. He hadn't inherited a ton of traits from his mother on the wild side of things which was a bit of a disappointment. He stopped in his tracks at the thought of his parents, despite everything they had been through they put on brave faces for the lupine when he'd been a child, the thought earning a passing wolfish smile and a sigh from the male's larynx. Grail pushed onwards through the vast desert with standing rocky bluffs and towers of rocks that were difficult to climb but well worth the effort of being able to see the world.

Serenity made her way towards the courtyard, heading out with the other patients in the adolescent wing, just as the residents of the adult male and female wings would be doing. The inspection would be the last time the patients would see the night guards until they got to evening, the day guards would soon be switching over and were likely now just awakening or perhaps still sleeping. Mouse didn't know, the staff lounge and staff wing was off limits, not that anyone wanted to go there anyways, even if they could get through security and into the north wing of facility. Shaking herself mentally, the black-haired fifteen-year-old made her way into the courtyard where the residents lined up according to wings and ages...sadly it meant the children that survived C.A.N.I.S. were in the front with the teens behind them. The girl shuddered at the flogging post that was within the center of the courtyard and kept her head down as she got into position, men and women forming up on either side with guards around and between them to keep them from interacting with other sections.

Mazikeen thought as she stood waiting for inspection to be finished with. She yawned and got lost in the thoughts of her head. A memory from childhood about her playing with her friends. 'Do they miss me?' She thought, furrowing her brow. She wondered how they were, how they'd changed and how she could get back to them. She knew the consequences for being caught trying to escape, or being caught outside of the facility, but she was nearing a point of insanity in her head where she was just about willing to go through with her plan. Maybe she could climb the fence? Or just sweet talk her way out? No, that one would never work. The staff wasn't that dumb.
She groaned and stretched a little more, yawning again. Could they take any longer with this? She was hungry! Mazi rolled her eyes and shifted her weight. Once again getting trapped inside her head, day-dreaming about being free again, running free for once as a wolf. She couldn't wait.
She needed to get out. She needed it bad. She was about to do something completely insane to achieve it too.

Silo looked around at the group of people around him and let out a little huff. The guards looked exhausted. That could be both a good and a bad thing. On the good side, It'd be easier to bend the rules and slip things by them. However, on the bad side, they would be much more irritable, and punishments wouldn't be dealt out with any remorse or holding back. They might even punish his fellow "Experiments" or him for no apparent reason, making you back talk just to get the ability to hurt you.
Silo was all too aware of this. He was the smallest of the adult males which made him the easiest target for punishments. He'd get picked on and he'd learnt to just take it in stride and let it happen. He wouldn't be able to prevent it. Unless a miracle happens and there's suddenly an uprising of all the wolves and they go berserk. That was a near impossible possibility though. He sighed and shook the sleep from his eyes again. God he wanted to run from this place.

'One day.' He promised himself. for now, he'd take life one minute at a time, just surviving this hell.

Esme slowly lifted her eyelids as if she was waiting for someone to jump at her if she opened them.When she opened them she saw light.Bright light,she bolted up and looked around at her surroundings.Just the regular a bed,better get up.Esme looked at herself in the mirror and remembered her aunt.She resembled her alot,her eyes and hair,even her face shape.Esme couldn't stop staring until she blinked.Esme looked past the mirror and noticed the guard was still in there staring at her."Um..Can you leave?"Esme didn't feel comfortable with him in there and as soon as she said that he left.He wasn't supposed to come in anyway.Esme digged inside a dresser and pulled out a pair of jeans and a shirt.Esme digged through the other which had under clothes and she got out a bra.Esme quickly slipped on her clothes and she was off to the courtyard.

Yong woke up an hour early, but simply laid in bed. He didnt want to move, at least for a little while anyway. Another day, which meant one more day missing his siblings.

Closing his brown eyes, Yong wasn't sure how long he ended up laying there before he fell asleep again. He woke with a slight start as a guard pounded on his door and grroaned softly as he stretched and got out of bed and got dressed in a black t-shirt, slightly worn black and white sneakers, and dark jeans.

Opening his door, he gave the guard who stood there a flirtatious wink, causing them to scowl at him. They were never amused with his antics, but that didn't stop him from trying to lighten the mood in his own way.

Without a word the guard huffed and turned to head down the hall. Pursing his lips in a small pout, Yong trudged his way to the front desk to sign his "name" and room number. From there he went to the Courtyard and got in line, waiting for inspection. He didn't even try to fix his hair either, simply ran his fingers through it and called it a day.

Really, with how much he was starting to miss his family what was the point in putting maximum effort? He hoped they were doing well in all honesty.​

With everyone in place front desk nursing staff appeared with checklists and had called off names to which each experiment was ordered to respond. The night guards, indeed the entire staff looked tired, the guards especially so as they were the ones to get supplies that were dropped off to the facility. Once the inspection was complete the head guard spoke. “Inspection complete. Breakfast in ten minutes and clean yourselves up.” The comment earned some lingering gazes from the guards on a few of the adolescent and adult females of the group, though there were males that got gazed as well. “Night shift dismissed!”
The guards saluted and walked off to the north wing as day guards began appearing behind the assembled group of patients.

Mouse had shivered slightly as a few guards had lingered their gazes on her and when they had been dismissed hurried towards the communal showers. Afterwards she would leave the Adolescent Wing and head to the main building where there was located the library, a lounge, infirmary, gym, the padded rooms...anything that was not a bedroom which were all centered in the four wings. Entering the cafeteria, guards would be there already eating breakfast while the patients began gathering in line for food. One knew one of the rules was not stealing food. The adolescent shook as she stood in line and upon getting her meal made her way for one of the booths and sat down, feeling slight comfort with her back and one side protected. There wasn’t assigned seating....guards sometimes sat with patients though one would be a fool to think it was for protection. Adults and adolescents might sit together while the few children usually huddled among themselves.

Carmine was dismissed from the inspection and broke off to eat quickly. He tucked away the information of any guard that might have looked at him when they mentioned cleaning, but since he was already freshened up Carmine headed for food. The line moved albeit slowly and Carmine couldn't help switching his weight back and forth between his feet. Slow, smooth movements that could easily turn into a sprint or a kick. Growing up selling taught him to be nimble and to not trust the surroundings; they could change at a moment. Even though this facility was scheduled and regimented, the guards weren't. He definitely had a few favorites, some that he could sing under his breath next to and they almost seemed to listen. His silver tongue didn't get him very far in here though and he had a few choice scars to prove it.

He tucked himself on the opposite wall of the cafeteria, a perfect vantage point to see the entrances and all the other experiments and guards present. He liked being a look out, liked the safety it afforded him to react even better. Carmine spotted Mouse off in a corner and had a puzzled look on his face. The girl confused him, she wouldn't survive a day in his life. He briefly wondered if he'd ever seen her form, sometimes all the wolves blurred together in his mind. Carmine chuckled through his next bite of food, 'Would be hilarious if she was this huge f**king thing' he thought, laughing softly and eating as quick as he could. He wanted to get to the gym and get his running in. Though he felt like a hamster on a wheel, Carmine prided himself on his speed.​

Not at all outwardly bothered by any stares he might have gotten (inwardly he was a bit uncomfortable at best), Yong frowned as he quickly went to clean up a bit before making his way to the cafeteria.

He wasn't in a rush when he finally got there, but was a bit distracted. Was Pan and Wendy eating all right? Were they looking out for each other and staying strong like he asked them to the last time he saw them?

Once he had his food he sat by himself, letting his worries continue to effect his overall mood. Maybe some exercise later will distract him? For now though, Yong wasn't in the mood to start much of a conversation, however he did spot Mouse and Carmine first and foremost, and was a bit curious.

When Esme was dismissed she left slowly as she looked around,people everywhere,loud voices.Esme blinked her eyes and carefully placed a string of hair behind her ear.She smiled at people as they walked past some smiled back,and some didn't.Esme could feel the hunger in her stomach,she didn't want to go to the cafeteria but she must so the hunger could stop.Esme walked past a group of guards who didn't smile back at her but just stared at her up and down.Esme tried to ignore their werid reaction and she kept on walking to the cafeteria.Esme kept thinking about her aunt and where she might be,she was really concerned but she still had a happy smile on her face.The cafeteria doors were finally up ahead as Esme walked in and got her food.Esme looked around and saw a person sitting alone.Esme didn't want to sit alone so she went and sat beside him.As Esme approached him she could tell he wasn't all that happy.Esme sat her food down and smiled at him and said"Hello!"Esme said it with a big happy smile as she waited for an answer.

Paws hurried across the ground, carrying the 7-foot tall beast across the earth. Pursuing a desert cottontail that darted over the landscape. Sand flew beneath his paws as he ran and within outstretched paw, swiped the creature’s paws, flipping it over before snapping his jaws around its skull and bit down. With a crushing blow, the rabbit fell limp and the beast began eating his meal, having caught a couple lizards which were already eaten. It was now dawn and the wolf raised his head, blood dripping from his fangs to watch it rise.

A sigh escaped him as he dug within the earth and pushed the bones into the earth, covering up the small hole. Rising to his paws, the wolf shook out his pelt. What should I do? Even if I could, how could I defeat all those guards...staff..,lupines that may choose to be here?

The ones who volunteered were usually the most loyal. Desperate souls who had nothing and nobody to lose. At least that was how Experiment 007 and Experiment 013 had been. He was sure there were others, but those two had said so personally to him and his father. Walking away from bones, the lone lupine began pacing, head bowed in thought.

The fifteen-year-old girl picked at her food as she sat in her corner. She could sense there were eyes on her and inched her shoulders in an effort to appear smaller than she was. Looking up from her meal, she could spot experiment 066 across the gathering of people in the cafeteria, noting the puzzled look as he stared at her. Mouse was not certain why he was looking at her nor why there was such an odd look on his face.

“Zero ninety-five,” a voice said as a guard appeared in front of her, blocking her view of anybody. “It has been decided that you will participate in fight room 1 during Adolescent Outdoor Period to Lunch. Failure to fight...earns subsequent punishments for each bout of disobedience.”

A shudder passed through her at hearing the change to her schedule, something staff sometimes did just to torture people here. Dropping her gaze back to her meal, Mouse flinched as the guard began laughing and walked off, leaving a shaken teenager. She pushed her plate away, suddenly not hungry. It was difficult to tell who was or would be assigned to fight, nor did she want to but would suffer more if she didn’t.

The sound of the guard talking to Mouse drew his eyes back over there and away from his food, for a moment. He shoved the last bite into his mouth and made to clear his table, always the tidy one. Carmine hated mess, it didn't allow his mind to think clearly. As time ticked away, he just continued to sit at his vantage point waiting for the gym to be open to him. He took this time to continue what he had been doing since day one; taking inventory and memorizing patterns. The way the guards moved, who was irritable and who had some patience, hell he even started to memorize people's biological clocks for heading to sh*t. Carmine didn't get to his spot on the outside by being passive, oh no, he got there by figuring out information people didn't even know they were giving up. The only time he couldn't think straight was when the wolves were involved, it still jumbled his mind. Scents though, he was surprised by everyone's scent.

That's it, he thought, I do know her. As he walked back from clearing his debris, he had picked up on distinct traces of vanilla and her form shot to the forefront of his brain. Carmine, in an act of being more aware, stopped watching the guards and started silently picking up on the scents around him instead of the facility. The wolf forms of those sitting around him finally presented themselves. Damn, need to get out into some fresh air. Some fresh ground. He unzipped his top down somewhat, the sudden feeling of being stifled by the collar overwhelming him for a second.

The female glanced around, checking to see if any of the guards were nearby before responding to Luci "soon. we'll escape separately... think you can make a distraction for me when we're all outside...? I promise, I'll come back for you, once I know there's somewhere safe." Alana then gave him a slightly pleading look, she was brought in just days before him, willingly, and wanted to escape from the place

Once inspection was over with, Mazikeen hurried to the cafeteria, not particularly caring if any of the staff thought she should fix herself up or not. She joined the ever-lengthening line and got ready to receive her meal. She huffed impatiently while waiting and shifted her weight periodically. Once she got her food she went to find a place to sit, and, not having many friends in this facility, decided to eat alone.

Mazi sat at a table near Lucifer and Alana before digging into the food which her grumbling stomach had been begging for. She chose to sit near the two lupines because she much preferred them to the others. Not for any specific reason, she just did. She tuned into their conversation, not having much else to occupy her brain with and continued to fill her tummy, which was thankfully quieting down. She made sure to watch the guards for any suspicious activity as well, she didn’t feel like being harassed today.

Silo obediently waited till the inspection was over, smirking at the comment about some lupines needing to clean themselves up. He got a few dirty stares himself, mainly because his freckles looked like dirt to some of the guards. Silo knew he looked good and decided to head straight for the food, his tummy was rumbling a little so it was a good idea anyways. He grabbed his food and went to an empty table, not really around anyone and started munching. He etched the others interact and kept his eyes on the guards, knowing him being alone would often lead to punishment of some sort, he was “fun” for the guards to toy with and hurt. So far no one had made a move but he was nervous anyways.

I have nothing to lose. I have to try. Maybe some good will come out of it. Grail rushed through the Expanse, his paws carrying him back to the facility that he’d escaped from years ago. Maybe...maybe he could deer the others...not knowing they had been killed after his escape. He’d no idea he would meet and rescue someone else. By now it was light out and the rabbit and lizards in his stomach had begun digesting. Hang on...I’m coming...

Alana had tucked a small change of clothes in a hoodie pocket, and now wore a black hoodie and sweats with her tennis shoes, the female intent on making her escape the very same day. After they were all outside, she made eye contact with Lucifer and nodded, waiting for him to distract all of the guards before she took off running, moving as fast as she could in order to escape, bursting through the doors and into the halls, headed straight for the exit of the facility, their prison, unaware that a savior would be there to help her

It was time for the adults to have their outdoor period and the adolescents to have lessons in the classrooms. Compared to the adolescent outdoor period, there were more guards out to watch the adults. One such guard was watching the adults move about, he was taken aback at one of the lupines shifting. “You know the....aghhhh!” He fried to dive out of the way but was knocked to the ground. Other guards turned at the cry, seeing Lucifer attacking. “Fight!”

Blood was drawn as claws sunk into flesh, the guard slamming a hand into or trying to in order to get the wolf off as others rushed forward, those who didn’t ordering the patients to get back and circling around them.

As this all happened, Grail could see the facility approaching and growled to himself. He hadn’t been here in five years, not since escaping. Ears flattened against his head, his body took in tough breaths of air as he drew closer. Closing in, he could see the place had changed. Approaching from the east, he could see there was a wing that hadn’t been there when he had lived here. What is going on?

Perking his ears up, Grail looked around, inhaling the air deeply into his lungs. More wolves? So mixed together...where are they? Shaking his head, he slunk around the facility, eyes and ears peeled for any sounds of approach. Grail had to be careful. One wrong move and he could get caught.
