Building Weapons w/ S&S

With the new artifact creation rules presented in Savant & Sorcerer, how many points to spread in increases to the base stat weapon, does each level of Power give? And how do you handle changing a bashing weapon into a lethal weapon (via mace/sledge to goremaul/grand-goremaul)

S&S is a bit vague on that, but I'll give it a shot.  This is the simple version.  In general, an artifact will have one power at its power level or three powers at one level lower or two powers at one level lower and three powers at two levels lower, etc.

Power One: +2 to any one statistic or +1 to any three statistics

Power Two: +4 to any one statistic

Power Three: +8 to any one statistic

Power Four: +10 to any one statistic

Power Five: Whatever the ST will let your sick and twisted mind get away with.

Note: Average the power level of the enchantment with the resource level of the weapon to get its final power level, which, in part, determines the commitment cost and artifact level.  For example, a spear (Resource 1) with a Power Five enchantment will have a final Power of 3.  This will mean, on average, that it will be a level three artifact and will require 10 motes to commit to.  It will probably have a +8 to Speed, Accuracy, Damage and Defence, a +4 to Rate, four other level three powers and two other level two powers, making it a truly frightning weapon. A smart Exalt will not bother with diaklaves, they will go make enchanted spears, maces, hammers and other cheap artifact weapons.

As for turning bashing damage to lethal, you seem to get that for free if you reduce the damage modifier by 1/4.  Otherwise, if you want to keep or enhance the damage modifier, I would say that it would be a level one power effect.  I would also say that piercing damage is a level one power effect, but that's just me.
