Bliss yelped and threw her hands up in fear as city officials, ones who were hunting her, unloaded bullets in her direction. She gasped as a weak shield of magic went up and temporarily protected her body from the biting guns. The shooting stopped and Bliss took this opportunity to bolt away as fast as she possibly could. She had been camped out in this city for several days, already knowing the lay out fairly well. Taking sharp corners and sometimes back tracking, the officers were soon lost, but that wouldn't keep them away forever. It was only a matter of time before the government swept the whole city, looking for her. Bliss had eves dropped on guards' conversations about the search for her, but occasionally it sounded as if there was more than one person they were looking for... A he and an it as the guards had put it.

Nate jumped from roof to roof, following a group of city officials as they chased a girl he'd never seen before. When he saw her hold up her hands he sighed, but was pleasantly surprised when he saw a magic shield show to protect her. "She's like me." He whispered, before following close behind as the girl ran. He had only recently found this city, but he could get around fine. He had put an enhancement charm on himself to make him able to jump higher, but it was only temporary. Soon the enhancement wore off and he found himself falling from a roof, straight at the girl, only luckily he slowed himself down and landed only a foot away from her.

Bliss was deep in thought, thinking about this other person that the guards had been talking about once again before she herd a thump, causing her to spin around and hold her a small knife that she had found... It had been her only weapon besides her magic. Bliss froze, seeing it a was boy. She crouched down a bit, still holding the knife up and ready before she picked up a shadow like it was sand, throwing it at his face. Turning and running, she climbed down the side of the building, hoping that he was still distracted as she climbed inside an open window. Bliss landed on the floor, breathing as lightly as possible as she listened for his pursuit.

Nate coughed the shadow away before jumping to his feet, ignoring the pain in his left hip. He then concentrated and merged into the ground, the only thing left was a black outline of himself. His own shadow. As the shadow walked it made no sound, and he followed in the direction the girl had gone. He contemplated calling out to her, telling her that he was like her, but instead he would just show her. When he found her he positioned his shadow in front of her, and merged out, black liquid falling from him, but he was not wet. "Hey." He said to her, holding up his hand. She feared she wouldn't see his pistol stuffed in the side of his pants, but if she did he would have to detain this small knife of hers.

Bliss closed her eyes and counted to five before opening them again. Still no sign of the boy. She smiled a bit, proud that her little "trick" had worked. She gasped and lay on her back, taking deep breaths, trying to regain her sanity after being shot at and chased. Bliss then yelped slightly, seeing the same boy suddenly appear before her, his hand outstretched. His simple, "Hey." didn't seem threatening at all and he was helping her off the ground.... Bliss gently took his hand and slowly stood, biting her lip. She looked him up and down, almost studying him as if he were a shirt for sale. "Who are you? How could you do that?" Bliss asked. Her voice was soft and mellow, but still curious and cautious.

"My name is Nate." He starts, his eyes traveling from her face to her feet and back again. "I found it in an ancient spell book of some sort." He says, brushing his light hair back slightly. "What's your name?" He asks, looking around them to make sure that no patrols were out looking for either of them. "We should move soon. It won't be long by the way." He didn't know if it was too soon to refer to them as a "we" but she was the only other person out there like him, or at least that's what he figured.

"I'm Bliss." She said simply, leaning out the window then back in, tackling Nate to the floor and laying on him, she closed her eyes and cloaked them in shadow right as a bright search light peered in the window from a government helicopter. The light soon went away and Bliss rolled off Nate, nodding at what he previously said. "Leaving would be nice... They're getting closer." She spoke lightly, not wanting to be herd by the officers. She stood, grabbing his shirt and pulling him to his feet.

When Bliss tackled him Nate was at first surprised, then confused, then grateful. "Thanks." He says, straightening his shirt and sneaking over to the door. He cracks it open just a bit and looks around, not seeing any foot soldiers, then he looks up, seeing the helicopter off in the distance searching the other districts. "Okay." He says, motioning for Bliss to follow. He would have shadowed himself, but doing that drained quite a lot of energy from him. He could only travel a short ways in shadow form, but he didn't know about Bliss.

Bliss nodded and followed him silently, biting her lip. She had to trust this boy, only for a little while until the officers and soliders were gone. Then should could question him, deciding whether or not to stay with him. Taking a deep breath, the girl peered behind her at the unforgiving darkness that had saved her multiple times. He better be like me... That shadow melting- Bliss started to think before shaking her head to herself and brushing off the thought. It was too much at once and she needed to calm down, take a deep breath, and figure out just what was going on.

As he walked, or more like sneaked, quietly down the street he contemplated climbing onto the roofs. They had saved him many times before, but he didn't want to leave Bliss behind, and he got quite a bit carried away when he jumped. He knew that she had questions, he had some of his own. But they would have to wait until they got out of city limits, because if they talked now it would be easier for the patrols to find them. He glimpsed the gates leading to woods not far away, and pointed them out to the girl.

OOC: Sorry, had to go to practice

Bliss easily followed the boy, Nate, as he called himself. She started to wonder why and how he was jumping so high, as well as how he stuck to the shadows.... Or they stuck to him. Shaking this off, Bliss kept following him, bubbling with questions but of course, she kept her mouth shut easily. Where are we going? How... Is he like me? She thought to herself, biting her lip gently as they went along. However, Bliss decided that he should question her first when they arrived to their destination, showing him she she could be trusted. Of course she wouldn't tell him anything that could threaten her...

When they arrived near the gate Nate motioned for Bliss to stop for a moment. Without warning he grabs the girl's hand and sucks them both into the shadow. He drags her by her hand through the gate and into the woods, where checked to make sure they were completely alone before he he released her and went back to his normal form. "That was a bit easier than I thought it would be. Maybe they're getting tired." He chuckles before sitting down and gathering twigs and leaves. With a snap of his fingers sparks fly onto the pile and ignite it in flame, warming the surrounding area.

Bliss tried to pull her hand away when he grabbed it, but he was stronger than she was and easily pulled her through the darkness. She blindly stumbled through with him and eventually saw sparks... Then a fire, light once more. Smiling, the short girl sat by the fire and yawned tiredly, rubbing one eye before nodding. Nate was right. The government was getting a bit lazy and not longer putting as much effort into finding them. Bliss hugged herself and pulled her navy blue hoodie tightly around her, shivering slightly. That was her only flaw with her magic. If she expended too much of it, she would grow cold, hungry, and very very tired.

Nate looked at the girl across from him. She looked cold, weak even. "Hey." He says, pulling off his large leather jacket and standing up. "I know you don't know me, but this will keep you warm." He says setting the jacket down on her shoulders and enhancing the heat of the fire. "I have a few questions, but can they wait til morning? I'm pretty tired." Nate says, a yawn coming from his wide mouth as he sits back down and lays down with his hands under his head.

Bliss slowly slid her arms through his jacket and she smiled a bit as it easily warmed her up. She nodded and lay on her back, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "Sure." She said softly, slowly falling asleep.

Fire. Everywhere. My mother stood on a pillar in front of me along with my father. They were drenched in blood and has nooses around their necks. My father opened his mouth to say something but the pillars fell out from under my parents, causing the nooses to pull tigh around their necks... SNAP. I broke down crying on a dirt floor and when I looked back up, the boy Nate was standing in front of me, holding my parents' heads-

Bliss gasped and sat up in a cold sweat. She was shaking and extremely cold and pale. She covered her face and took shaky, shallow breaths.

When Bliss awoke Nate jumped up, looking at her with worry in his eyes. "Are you alright?" He asks, his hand was on his pistol, ready to draw it to fight anybody who threatened the pair. Before he had woke he was dreaming of a place, where they'd be welcomed. There were people like them there, and his mother was there. But it was impossible, and it was just a dream that reoccurred almost every night.

(Sorry for late response, didn't show in notifications.)

Bliss rubbed her eyes with her palms and slowly nods, yawning a bit. She wiped away the tears and hugged her knees to her chest, taking shaky breaths. Deep breath. It's just a dream. Not real-... Bliss looked at Nate and bit her lip gently, still breathing softly.

Nate gave her a reassuring smile, standing up and looking around him. His stomach suddenly gave a growl and he patted it. "I'm going to hunt, you can join me if you want." He says, conjuring a shadowy bow and arrows to match.

Bliss shakily nodded and slowly stops before gasping and sinking to her knees. She took a deep breath and rubbed her eyes again, almost trying to wake herself up from this nightmare called her life. "Y-yeah. I'll go." She said gently, taking a deep breath and standing again.

Nate was going to help her, but he decided against it. "Okay." He says before he began to sneak further into the woods. There were a few small rabbits and some squirrels here and there, but he was looking for bigger, meatier game. (Going to bed, I'll post in the morning.)

Bliss sat there in th clearing alone, deciding that it would be better for him to go alone. Her loud stumbling around would scare off any game in the area, possibly starving them both. She sighed and lay on her back, waiting for Nate to return. Why am I all of a sudden so dependent on a stranger? She thought before shaking her head. I have nothing else to keep me alive. Might as well focus on him.

When Nate finds what he was looking for, a young stag who hadn't shed his antlers yet, he raises his shadow bow and crouches low to the ground. He strings an arrow and focuses mainly on the space between the Stag's shoulder and rib cage. When he looses the arrow it hits it's target in a mater of milliseconds and the stag began to struggle. He bleated loudly, jumping from one direction to another before shadows spread from the wound all around the stag and he fell to the ground dead. When Nate gets close to the stag he kneels beside it and begins to pray, an old prayer that his mother had taught him, and when he was finished he closed the stag's eyes and began dragging it back to camp.

Bliss looked up at the sky, hearing the scream like noise that came from the dying stag. She bit her lip before dropping her head, covering her ears with her hands as she tried to block out the sound. Ignore it-... Too much death here anyways. She thought to herself.

The boy made it back to the camp easily, he was quite strong and the stag wasn't as heavy as older ones. He saw Bliss with her hands over her ears and sighed. That girl, she's different than you, yet the same. His mind tells him, and he continues to pull a rope from his knapsack and hang the stag upside down from a tree limb. "Do you know how to skin a stag?" He asks, producing a large knife from his sack as well.
