Abraxas tried to stop his leg from bouncing under the Senior Council table, but it was hard. Today was a special day, and he was already late. His new residents were moving in, and he was excited and very nervous at the prospect of meeting them all. So it had taken all of his willpower not to groan when Mage Thelas had moved for a Senior Council vote on his latest proposal. Of course, this entailed discussion, arguments, counter arguments and more of a headache than it should have been. Finally, mercifully the Council came to a decision. Abraxas rushed to the door, checking his watch. He groaned as he realized the only chance he had of making it in time was to teleport. He let out a heavy sigh, digging his teleport stone out of his pocket.

"Please, PLEASE don't throw up in front of the new arrivals," he pleaded, before activating the stone and focusing his will on the gates of Broken Sword.

Meanwhile, the residents are met at the gates by a tall blonde in a light summer dress. Her eyes are a startingly bright green, and her skin is far pinker than it should be. She carried a clipboard, and checks names off her list as the newcomers arrive.

"Hello and welcome to Broken Sword! My name is Tilly Hobbes, and I am the Resident Manager here at Broken Sword. I'm responsible for all the day to day operations here. Seeing as the owner Mage Abraxas is running late, I thought I would meet you and show you all to your homes." At these words, there was a rush of air and a short young man appeared. He was pale and sweating, and looked queasy. He wore a big blue floppy hat, bright pink mage robes, and had a clawed necklace around his neck. He had various badges related to his skills and positions. He swallowed hard, and seemed to regain his composure.

"Whew. Made it just in time. And I didn't puke. Awesome." Noticing the group of people, he gave an awkward wave.

"Hey all, I'm Abraxas. Welcome to Broken Sword! I am the Owner here. " Tilly glared at him, and hissed:

"I already SAID the welcome, Boss!" Abraxas blushed bright red, and whispered a quick

"Sorry!" He smoothed his robes, before resuming his prepared spiel.
"So I am sure everyone is eager to move in, so why don't we show you to your new homes!" He quickly led each new resident to their front door, and handed them each a very unique looking keys.

"I am sure you all want to focus on moving in, so I won't keep you. If you have any questions, concernes or need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask myself or Tilly. I live in the mushroom at the end of the street, and my door is always open to any of you." After hesitating briefly to answer any questions, he made his was to his home. He had fashioned it similarly to a Telvanni House, with twisting spires that appeared to be mushrooms. Flopping on his front porch, he pulled out his letters and missives from the day and got to reading.

Strunmir was quiet as he pulled his suitcases behind him, following Abraxas to where his home was. He thanked the mage before taking the keys and entering his new home.

It felt a little odd, being in a house and not a trailer or tent. But it was an odd comfort.
He liked the rustic feel of his new home, complete with a hearth in the center but also a more modern kitchen off to one corner in case he needed it.

It reminded him a bit of his childhood, up in Greenland, but that was a very long time ago.

Strunmir brought his suitcases downstairs into the basement, where a door lead into a room fashioned into looking like a cave. The comforts of a cave, it felt very nice. It was almost exactly like the cave he grew up in, just missing an opening out onto a cliff over the ocean. But that wasn't very feasible here, so he hadn't asked for it. It was also more secluded this way. Easier to keep his hoard safe.

Strunmir then git to work unpacking his suitcases, which were mostly skeins of yarn and whatever finished projects he could salvage from the circus fire. He didn't exactly need clothes, his glamour covered that for him and when he wasn't glamoured it wasn't like he could wear human clothes anyways,

Speaking of the glamour, he let it deactivate, he was safe here, in his new home. He didnt need it at the moment.

Bran pulled his old, battered blue Volvo into the side parking lot next to the front gates. He took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself. He hadn't been near... anyone like him since he had fled into the night several years ago. His hands shook slightly as he slowly stepped out of the car. He opened the back, pulling out a large battered trunk and a smith's anvil out. He had had the rest of his things sent ahead, but these he had kept with him. Partly to stay busy, and partly because they were all he had left of his old life. Tucking the trunk under one arm, and lightly picking up the anvil with his other hand, he made his way over to where a group was slowly gathering. He took in the sights around him, admiring the craftsmanship of the various house, though the fungus tower in the back was a new one, even for him. He spared slight glances for the others with him, though he made no judgements. Other than they all seemed smaller than he had anticipated. His family's teachings came to the forefront of his mind, and he had to stop himself from seperating predator from prey. He smiled at the Resident Manager, and allowed himself to speak in public, something he wasn't altogether used to.
"Hello. It is nice to be here." He spoke with a slight Russian accent, and his friendly smile lit up his eyes. He turned to face the newcomer, and couldn't help but widen his eyes. This was the man who had invited him in. He was so young. Not to mention very small. Still, he supposed appearances could be deceiving. He awkwardly took the key, struggling not to set down his belongings.
"Thank you," he said, before turning to the others. "I look forward to getting to know each of you." He turned his warm smile on the others, before moving on to his new home. The outside was a beautiful hall, similar to those he had grown up in. He turned the key, smiling slightly as the smell of freshly sawn wood filled his nostrils. He moved through each room, smiling at the perfect details. The large pillars in the feasting halls. The large bookshelves that filled the library from the ten foot cielings nearly to the floor. He smiled at the reading nook, filled with his overstuffed chairs. His trunks were all packed and stowed in their proper rooms. He'd unpack them later. For now, he needed to see the most important aspect of his requests, besides the dragon-proofing. He headed out into the back yard area. There encompassed a large smithy, with a massive set of bellows and an enlarged trough for quenching. He could also sense the magical soundproofing he'd requested. He knew that some days he had to be up at four in the morning to work, and figured his neighbors wouldn't appreciate waking to the sound of hammer striking steel. He made a quiet grunt, before setting his anvil in its appointed place, and made sure everything was in perfect working order before heading in to change. He figured he'd give his neighbors a fair warning before he started smithing anything. He flopped in one of his leather seats, picked up a volume on Longfellow and sighed contentedly. Despite his concerns over Abraxas' appearance, this place seemed perfect. He hoped it could be a home for him. A sanctuary from the threats that had chased him for years.

Zee felt a lump of nervousness form in their throat as the taxi pulled up in front of the main gate. They paid and stepped out, a backpack on one shoulder, and a messenger bag on the other. As the taxi drove off, they took in the small crowd that had gathered.

There was no one Zee recognized, and while in most cases that would be a bummer, it gave them a sense of security. This was supposed to be a gated community where supernaturals could live in peace, but they held little trust in the actual people living there. The late arrival and rushed appearance of the owner did little to assure them their faith in the compound was founded either. Ah well, that was a problem for future Zee. Current Zee needed a nap and a sundae.

Zee watched in fascination as keys were passed out. (I'm assuming here) Each one different than the others, and Zee found themselves studying the houses, the individuals, and what they carried before making speculations about what they must do for a living, where they're from, etc. They strayed from speculating what supernatural being they were as Zee'd had no experience meeting any, and that kind of thing was what got them into this mess in the first place.

With an almost fake smile Zee took their key, thanked Abraxas and entered their own home. After making sure all the windows had privacy film installed, Zee took their hoodie off and let the glamour drop. They could make this work. If not, then.... Well, they'd cross that bridge when they came to it. If... If is good.

Doe stood away from the group that had gathered at the gates. His eyes darted anxiously between the other new residents. Unlike the others, Doe had no bags or belongings to bring with him. Only a small pamphlet advertising the Gated Community to others, people like him. Until now, Doe thought he was hallucinating, no one knew about Broken Sword, and everyone he showed the pamphlet to claimed it was just a blank piece of paper. The only one who could see it was him, well, him and the strange cat who gave it to him. Doe stopped fidgeting with the paper and flipped it open, looking over the information printed on it once again. 'A home for the strange and supernatural', yet all these people looked like regular humans to him. Maybe he really was crazy, for all he knew, this was some death trap, and these people were taking advantage of his delusions to lure him in.
A few more minutes passed by and the host was still missing. This was a bad idea. He shouldnt have come here. What was he thinking? He could find help elsewhere. Doe folded up the pamphlet and turned to leave. He only stopped when he felt something rub against his leg. He looked down at the petite black cat that blocked his path. She looked up at him with big golden eyes.
    "Mrow?"
She mewed, almost as if questioning him. From the outside, Albatross had merely meowed, but to him, her words were as clear as day. He hesitated answering the cat, knowing that doing so would make him look insane. He probably was insane.
    "Mauu!"
She pawed at his leg, her meow seemed more persistant this time. Doe sighed.
"Stop that, you cant actually talk. This isnt real."
Doe muttered quietly. Suddenly he felt the pin prick of tiny claws sinking into his leg.
    "Ow! Hey! bad kitty!"
He scolded her, picking her up to stop her from digging into his leg. Her face narrowed, as if scowling at him. She growled.
    "You can't--!"
Doe was cut off by Abraxas's greeting. He turned to look towards their hosts. A man in pink robes, and a girl in a nice dress. Though the man's outfit was questionable in his eyes... they seemed nice enough. As the group began to filter through the gates, Doe turned to look at Albatross again. She looked at the gates then back at him. She trilled at him, seemingly to urge him to follow the crowd. Doe hesitated, but sighed. and put the cat back down on the ground.
He had nothing. What was there to lose?
Without another word, Doe passed through the gates.
He gawked at the colorful houses that lined the streets. So many intricate and colorful designs, it made his house look plain in comparison. Maybe he should've been more specific in the details section of the application he filled out. Doe smiled at Abraxas as he handed him the key. He examined it carefully, despite the simplicity of his application, Abraxas somehow managed to craft a beautiful and intricate key.
It was made with some sort of redwood, which gave the key a pinkish hue. The teeth had small decorative flowers engraved into the sides of them, and the base of the key was shaped like a pair of dragonfly wings, at the center of which, had a carved crystal, shaped like a deer. Doe would have scoffed at the obvious pun, had a wave of deja-vu not overcome him first. He winced lightly and rubbed the back of his head, attempting to soothe the dull throbbing that shortly followed. That happened occasionally, the doctors said it was related to his head injury. The pain would go away with time, they told him. He looked away from the key and smiled at Abraxas.
"Thank you hun, You'll be the first to know i need anything!"
He waved the mage goodbye, watching him walk back to house--err, mushroom that sat at the end of the street. He turned to look back his house, it was a green 2 story log cabin, that doubled as a store front. That was one of the few things he did request when filling out the resident form. He wanted to be able to work from home. Even if he didnt need the money here, it gave him something to do, and funds to support him if this new living situation didnt work out.
Doe watch Albatross scamper to the front porch. She turned to look back at him. Doe hesitated, but then walked to the front door. He bent down to scratch Albatross's back before putting the key into the door. It opened with a quiet click.

    Welcome to Broken Sword.

Abraxas sat on his front porch, chewing enchanted gum and sending pink bubbles floating across the sky as he reviewed the papers in front of him. The vast majority of them were the usual missives: Invitations to some over swanky party, arguments for him to vote one way or another, some attempts to get him to introduce certain agendas. He laughed out loud when he realized two of them were marriage proposals. The fact is, he had no interest in marriage or politics. He was quite happy looking after Broken Sword for a while. His apprentice could vote for him, if needs became so great the devil was at the wheel. Not that he trusted the greasy lickspittle, but such was life. He cocked his head as the last two caught his attention. The first was an announcement of the death of Leodrick, a prominent Council member. He frowned at the words 'his death was accidental.' Leodrick had been a canny fox who had taken care of himself for decades. Abraxas set it aside to look at later. The other was a regal missive, carrying the scent of honeysuckle. Abraxas smiled as his memories flooded forward at the smell, but quickly went back to frowning as he read it. He sighed heavily, and set it into a separate pile. This one would require more of a... personal touch. Leaping up to his feet, he pondered his choices for a moment. Political etiquette told him he should wait until they were more settled. Abraxas, however, had never been the most tactful of people. So he marched over to Doe's house and gave a firm knock on his door.

Doe had been wandering around the first story of his new home. The store floor. It was pretty barebones, save for a basket of seeds and gardening tools packed neatly on the counter. He unfortunately, neglected to ask for any grown plants to start off with. Looks like Doe won't be selling flowers anytime soon. Doe turned to the backdoor. There was a window showing the outside, but it was blocked by frosted glass. He walked to the door and turned the knob.
Doe's jaw dropped at what he saw.
Flowers. Lots of them. They cover the backyard head-to-toe. Black-eyed Susan, Bittersweets, Anemone, Daisies, Rosemary... Doe lost track of the different flowers, so varied yet clearly planted carefully and intentionally. Even the walls were coated in a lush layer of Purple Morning Glories and Forget-Me-Nots. The only part that wasn't overtaken with flowers was the mossy cobblestone walkway, which paved a path through the garden and around the corner. However, before Doe could follow the path and investigate, there was a knock on the door. Doe turned his head. Who could that be? Doe stepped back inside and peered through the front door peephole. It was that weird man from earlier. He was the owner of the community wasnt he? What did he want with him?? He didnt do something wrong did he? Doe swallowed nervously before opening the door to greet him.
"O-Oh! hi there dear, D-Did you need somethin'?"

Strunmir nodded to himself in contentment as he finished setting out and organizing his hoard of crochet hooks and yarn. It took a lot of work to get it just perfect, especially since some of the skeins had come undone and had to be wound up again. But all that was done, and Strunmir could admire his work.

And now.... he was hungry.
He could hunt here, right? That  was allowed?
Well, he could just do it and face any potential consequences later. What's the worse that could happen?

Well, I guess they could kick him out, but he wasn't sure that that would be the result of a little hunting. Unless he accidentally killed one of the residents...

That wasn't going to happen again. No fire, just teeth and claws.

He climbed out of his cave basement and then out of the front door, nudging the door back closed with a flick of his tail, and turned towards the woods. Yeah, it was a bit anxiety-inducing to be out without a glamour, but he was amongst other supernaturals. It would be fine...

Abraxas had marched up to the door with the intention of getting answers to certain questions, but when Doe opened the door, all his inquiries died on his tongue. The poor man looked scared and completely out of his depth. Abraxas took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts.
'Don't freak out the newcomers. Act normal for once,' he thought, glancing at the multitude of flowers growing behind his new tenant. He had forgotten just how much he had grown for Doe, though given his expression, Abraxas hoped he hadn't noticed the quantities of things blooming far out of season. He realized he had been standing there awkwardly, so he cleared his throat and gave a little spiel.
"Hello! You go by Doe, correct? Is everything up to your standards?" He said all this in a cheery but inquisitive voice, despite the fact the other man kept looking at him like he was some kind of freak. Abraxas hoped he could make a good impression. It was bad enough dealing with Council judgement. At least most of them were stuffy old people. He just wasn't sure if he could stand for his new tenants to look at him the same way.

Zee cursed at the empty brownie container. They forgot they'd eaten the last during the looooooooong taxi ride. Ah, well. They'd just have to get more brownie stuff.

They shrugged their hoodie on and grabbed their keys and wallet. Double checking they had their keys, Zee locked the door, hooked the key to their belt loop, and turned around just in time to see a.... Something large and scaled.... Zee's eyes grew wide and all thoughts of sweets fled their mind. They'd half expected to see fae, or wizards, stereotypical supernatural beings. But a dragon?!

They tied their hoodie around their waist and ran to catch up, scaling a tree when they reached the forest. They'd never flown much in their life, so gliding from tree to tree made much more noise than they'd expected. But it was worth it, they were content with catching glimpses of the deep purple scales glinting in the speckled light. The fact that it could be one of their neighbors, and they could be considered a stalker never crossed their mind. Eventually their luck ran out and their hoodie snagged, falling to the forest floor. Zee watched in horror, frozen. The gravity of the situation finally setting in. "Well shit."

Strunmir began tracking a deer in the woods, stalking it. Until the shaking in the trees scared it away. He went back to tracking it, preferring to kill it in one swift bite. Only for this to repeat a few more times.
He was getting fed up with whatever was scaring his prey away, and turned towards the shaking trees to tell whoever was there off. But he turned just in time to watch Zee fall. He snorted in half-amusement, before remarking, "that's what you get for scaring my deer away."

Doe must look more out of place than he thought he did, if the owner himself wanted to check up on him. It was a thoughtful gesture but also slightly embarrassing. Doe smiled and nodded.
"Its lovely--way more than what I was expecting, and i haven't even been upstairs yet!"
He replied. Doe would have been grateful no matter what it looked like, anything would have been better than the alternative. Yet Abraxas went out of his way to customize the house just for him.
"I hope you didn't have too much trouble building it, my descriptions weren't exactly the most... uh, descriptive."
Doe rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled awkwardly. Had he known the buildings were going to be this personalized, he would've provided more details about what he liked. Instead he left Abraxas and whoever else worked on this house to do a guessing game. He felt a little bad for that, but it worked out in the end. Abraxas hit the nail right on the head, like he knew Doe better than he knew himself.

Zee would have held their breath as the dragon turned if it hadn't been knocked out of their lungs. As such it took a moment to register he had spoken. "Sorry. Not used to flying much more than a few feet." They groaned as they stood up, that was going to bruise in the morning. "I'm Zee. Aaaaand you're a dragon... Uh, sorry was not expecting dragons to talk. Too many fairytales I guess." They went to hold their hand out to shake, but at the last second dropped it to their side awkwardly.

Abraxas nodded at the man's words, though his brow furrowed at the mention of the upstairs. He wondered if the problem up there had been taken care of, or if it were another of his apprentice's mistakes he'd need to clean up. He gave a slight sigh, before flashing Doe a sunny smile. If he had to fix it he would, no sense worrying over something that hadn't caused him any trouble yet.
"Well, I'm glad you like the decorations. As you can see from my home, living construction is somewhat of a side interest of mine. If the flowers aren't to your liking, you just let me know." Abraxas kept up his smile for a moment, before gaining an expression of realization. He patted and dug his hands in the various pockets of his robes, before pulling out a notarized document.
"I almost forgot! This is for you. Your business paperwork for this place. You do still intend to run a shop out of your home, correct?"

"Of course I can talk. Any dragon can talk, people just don't bother to listen." Strunmir snorted, sounding offended.
"I assume you're one of my new neighbors? I'm strunmir. I'd say its a pleasure, but you keep scaring away my deer. "
He slowly sat down on the grass, curling his tail around his clawed hands and relaxing his wings a bit.

    Doe shook his head.
"No no, i love them! They're beautiful--If i need other flowers ill find a way to grow them myself!"
He said. If there was one thing Doe knew about himself, it was that he had a green thumb. The greenest there was. Before moving here Doe spent most of his time reviving dying plants and propagating freshly cut bouquets. Doe could coax even the most finicky of plants into blooming. It was a second nature, he found. One of the few things about himself he didn't lose. His love for gardening. Even with winter just around the corner, Doe have little problem keeping his new garden alive.

Doe listened attentively as Abraxas continued to talk, he took the papers from him when he held them out.
    "Oh! Thank you!"
He said. Doe had a feeling he would have trouble finding a job. He had no experience, no history, no.. well, anything really. And any place that did hire him likely wouldn't pay him enough to live, so he figured he would take this opportunity to build a business himself. It was nothing fancy--he didn't even have a full store front. Just a little something that would give him some money to fall back on if things didn't work out. Even if it wasn't a full on business, he still needed to get a sales permit.

Doe reached out to take the papers from Abraxas, but almost lost hold as a breeze blew passed. He clutched the papers tightly. He crumpled them somewhat as he did. Doe fumbled as he tried to smooth out the papers and reorganize them. After a taking a few seconds too long to fix the papers, Doe awkwardly gave up. He looked away and rubbed his neck with his free hand, trying to hide his red face. Ugh he was making himself look like fool He needed to change the subject, something, anything would work. The words were out of Doe's mouth before he could even think.
"Uh, t-the doorway isnt the best place to sit and chat, w-why don't you come inside for a minute?"
That was literally the worst thing he could do. This was awkward enough as it was, now its gonna be even more.
Well, its too late to take it back now.

Abraxas smiled charmingly at the other man, doing his best to put him at ease.
'Wow. He really is very anxious,' he thought. He nodded at Doe's mention of thanks.
"You are of course quite welcome. I would do anything to make sure everyone here is happy and comfortable with their living conditions. You should relax a little. I promise I am not singling you out. I intend to visit all of my new tenants over time. You simply seemed the most stressed and anxious, so you get the honor of a first day visit from silly little me." He gave Doe a little wink. Watching the man struggle to smooth out his papers, Abraxas gave his fingers a subtle flick. The papers slowly smoothed in his hands. Doe would find that barring being folded, those papers would be wrinkle free for days. He gave a deep, flourishing bow as Doe invited him in. He felt the threshold's barrier to him shrink down to nothing. It was a nice feeling, and he beamed at Doe's trust. Of course he was certain the amnesiac had no idea the level of trust he had just extended, but Abraxas felt warmth inside nonetheless. It was a good start.
"I would be honored to be your first house guest. I don't suppose you have any jasmine tea? It's a personal favorite. Reminds me of happier days."
He had a wistful look in his eyes for a moment, before producing a baker's tin from one of his pockets.
"Since it is exceptionally rude to show up empty handed, I brought stawberry shortbread cookies. Please take them. I truly despise strawberries, and these were a gift." He gave Doe a conspiratorial smile, and offered him the tin.

Doe laughed sheepishly as Abraxas mentioned his nervousness. Oh dear, it really WAS obvious.
"Oh you don't need to worry bout me--I appreciate the visit though!"
He replied, stepping to the side so Abraxas could come in. He raised an eyebrow at Abraxas's bow. The gesture was so formal and dramatic it almost seemed silly. Maybe that was the point? Doe didnt question it, and followed him into the house.
Doe placed the neatly filed paperwork on the counter. Relieved that he managed to smooth them out after all despite his struggle moments before. He turned around to address Abraxas again, only to be presented with a tin of cookies. Strawberry flavored cookies at that! He smiled and graciously took the tin from him.
"Oh! Strawberries just so happen to be one of my favorites! Your too kind, hun."
He said. He felt bad he didn't have anything to give Abraxas in return. Maybe he could put together some flowers for him later.
    "Mrew!"
Albatross mewed, she was now sitting on the counter, watching Abraxas curiously. Doe reached over to scratch her chin.
"Hmm. I'm not sure if i have jasmine tea, ill have to take a look in the pantry upstairs."

Doe had only asked they furnished his house, he didn't intend for it to include groceries, but he never specified either. For all he knew, his kitchen was jam-packed with food and drinks. Though, with Abraxas here, he could only hope there was food. He would feel terrible if he couldn't provide something for him to eat or drink. Doe rounded the counter, gesturing Abraxas to follow. He hadn't been able to find the stairs, maybe they were behind the counter? Doe opened the cabinet door, expecting to find stairs or an entrance of some sort, but he only found shelves. Huh. Doe looked up, the building was clearly two stories from the outside, and the ceiling wasn't high enough for it to account for both stories. Was he missing something obvious?
"I... I just need to figure out how we're supposed to get up there..."
    He muttered.
    Click!
Suddenly, Doe and Abraxas were being lifted off the ground. Doe turned face the cause of the movement. Albatross was resting her paw on a button embedded into the counter.
"Oh! That's how it works! Good girl Alba!"
He exclaimed, Doe peered over the edge. He couldnt see any hydrolics lifting the platform, but maybe they were just hidden from this angle.
That took longer than it should have, but at least he figured it out.

Zee hoisted themself onto a low hanging branch as Strunmir lay? sat? down. They sprawled out on it as best they could without using their wings for balance. Because let's face it, dragon or not, they were not about to advertise their wings anymore than they already had. "Again, sorry about that. I don't do meat, but I got some potato candy... It's got peanut butter, so it's protein? Probably too sweet tho... Oh! I forgot to ask if you can do peanuts... That's something people are allergic to..." They pulled a container from the pocket of their hoodie, not thinking anything of it.

They paused, remembering what they were doing when they got distracted. "Oh! Brownies! I was about to grab some black beans! Would you mind if I bugged you where the grocery store is? I haven't gotten a chance to memorize the map. I'll let you have half the first batch...." They grinned in a mischievously pleading manner. If he didn't take their bribe, they'd have to figure it out all by themself, and they really hated being lost, even for a few seconds.
DovahBeat DovahBeat

"Tempting..." Strunmir mused, watching Zee with intrigue.
"I don't know where the grocery store is, I kinda thought I wouldn't need it since we got perfectly good forests filled with deer here. But I can't imagine it'd be in the woods." He pointed out.
He stretched his wings out, enjoying the feeling of the sun on them before preening them with his claws. It'd been a while since he could have a good and proper preening, what with being glamoured almost all the time. That would be a welcome change now that he was living here.
"Tell you what, we'll find it together. Unseasoned meat isnt that great anyways, I should pick some spices up. What do you say?"

Abraxas gave a little nod as he mentioned being all right. He wasn't sure he believed the redhead, but he would let it go. No need to stress him out before it was necessary. He gave an almost sheepish grin as he noticed his bow was received with an eyebrow raise. He had forgotten for a moment that Doe had no memory of the formalities of the life they had previously lived, and resolved to try not to be overly formal in future.
"Ahh, that explains it! Grandmother must have intended the cookies for you. She knows the smell of them gives me headaches. Or perhaps she wanted to remind me to be humble. Either way, I hope you enjoy them." He paused at Doe's next words, trying to remember if he had stocked the pantries. He seemed to recall some basics, but nothing more.
"Well, I would also be perfectly happy with some water. Few things are better on a warm day than some nice cool water." He hoped the man would take the olive branch. The last thing he seemed to need was more anxiety. He might catch himself on fire if he kept up his nervous tics for too long. Abraxas tipped Albatross a sly wink as the cat activated the platform, forcing himself not to laugh at the obvious confusion on Doe's face as he tried to work out the lift's mechanics.
"Yes, well done, Kitty!" Abraxas gave a little clap, enjoying himself for the first time all day.

He repeated. Logically, there was no chance that Abraxas's grandmother would knew his past. He had no records, no friends and no family who claimed him. If someone knew him, they would have reached out sometime in the last month. Yet, Doe's stomach still fluttered at the thought the possibility. Albatross said that this place would help him find the answers he was looking for. Maybe she was right.
Or maybe Abraxas was just being rhetorical.
"Oh, I'll make sure not to eat these until later then."
He replied, after learning about Abraxas's allergy to strawberries. Doe pressed down on the lid, making sure it was shut. Knowing him, he would accidentally drop the tin and spill the cookies. He needed to make sure they were secure.
Albatross leapt onto the rising platform just as it reached counter height. She purred quietly, rubbing against Abraxas's leg. She seemed to be basking in the praise she received from pressing the button.
"She seems to really like you!"
He commented, smiling as he watched her flop over and bed Abraxas for attention. She was a very friendly cat, but it was rare to see even a cat as outgoing as her warm up to a stranger so quickly.
The platform slowed as it reached the top. It came to a smooth, gentle stop once it became level with the top floor and as if on cue, the lights flickered on. The room was empty, save for some cabinets and a washer dryer set. It was the laundry room. Doe stepped off the platform and towards the door. The kitchen must be in the next room.
"Feel free to make yourself comfortable, dear."
He said as he opened the door to the rest of the house.

Abraxas' eyes flashed wide for a second. Right. The amnesia. He really needed to stop forgetting that. He gave a soft laugh at his unintentional joke, before taking a look at the surroundings. So far his useless apprentice hadn't messed up the design too badly. Still Abraxas silently cursed the emergency that had kept him from finalizing certain details. He smiled as he felt the cat rub against him, reaching down to carefully scratch under her chin. In a near silent whisper, he muttered a greeting in the Tongue of Beasts, before straightening back up.
"Animals typically have always enjoyed my company. I was never certain why. There are a great many much more interesting people in this world." He nodded at Doe's invitation, idling towards what had come to be known as the "problem wall" during construction.
"I thank you again for the invitation. I would just like to ensure everything is in order." Moving quickly after his eyes caught a trace of movement, he blocked Doe's view of the wall, quickly slapping away a slithery grey tentacle that had begun phasing through. With a quick mutter, Abraxas put up a temporary ward, hoping he could fix the problem given enough time.
"With no attempt at ego, you do have a lovely home. How exactly did you come up with the design,if I might ask?"

A shadow flitted above even Zee in the trees. The man watched as the dragon and the... fairy? Continued to have a discussion. He watched carefully as the dragon seemed to shift slightly every now and then toward the line that marked the end of Abraxas's protection. Now they were discussing going to a store. For a moment his eyes narrowed, calculating the likelihood the dragon and the tiny sprite would be stupid enough not to glamour. He grimaced, but slid down the trees, landing directly in front of the dragon's nostrils. He glared at both of them.
"Stop. Abraxas is lenient. I am not. Follow the glamour rules, or I will make you follow them." The man touched the Goshawk shaped hilt of his sword. He was smaller than average height and slim, but he stared both of them down with ni fear in his eyes.

Zee sat up, stretching their arms above their head, thankful they had their hoodie tied around their waist as sun rays filtered through the canopy and warmed their shoulders. "True... Honestly hadn't planned on going in here until I saw you and got curious." They were glad they hadn't dropped the glamour on their height, 5'3" was short enough, and the dragon was intimidating enough without being towered over more. They dropped from the branch and took in their surroundings. "Let's see... Came from over there... Deer went that way... That's farther in... That way! Good a chance as any to be a store that way." They gave a half shrug as they pointed in a seemingly random direction, pulling a sucker from their jeans pocket.

Suddenly another figure dropped from the trees. Instinctively, Zee tucked their wings closer on their back and allowed glamour to conceal them. "Glamour rules? Ya mean the 'don't leave the community' or whatever the paper said 'in your true form?' Again or whatever fancy wording the paper said. I ain't got a problem with those rules." They popped the sucker in their mouth and spoke around it. "I didn't realize how far we'd gone in the woods. Oh! Want one? They're the 'good for your teeth' kind." They held out a small handful of suckers to the others, hand shaking slightly as the adrenaline spike made their heart thud in their chest.
