Reason for moving to Broken Sword: Hiding from family and familial duties.
Short Bio: Bran was raised as the elsdest son of his powerful father to be the perfect warrior. As he aged, only his grandfather believed in his true self. He made sure Bran focused on his own happiness, openly defying his son and Bran's father. Bran became a gifted smith and carpenter, channeling his immense strength into creativity, rather than violence. When he came out as both bi and a pacifist to his father, his father tried to kill him. Bran fled, and soon sought the protection of a powerful gated communtiy. There he lives out his days as a tinker and a poet, safely ensconced from his family.

Short Bio:
Eno was born to Euryale II and Medusa II, the first daughter of Stheno I. Her great-grandmother was the Stheno of ancient legends; elder sister to Medusa, known for being independent and ferocious. Greek mythology and her own family stories detail Stheno's proud and bloody history of being a killer of men, this title having reigned up on her long before her sister, Medusa was cursed and then slain by Perseus.

Fast forward several centuries and the world was anew; her family history had once been a warning to leave the Gorgons at peace is now simply an ancient myth that no one believes. Eno is thankful for this but also cautious; as there are always outlying humans 'conspiracy theorists' that somehow glimmer close to the truth.

Eno was raised by her mother and taught how to conceal herself, how to live among the humans and every two or three decades how to remake her human self and begin again. In this iteration of her existence, she started in her 'youth' as a no-one model and is now one of the top fashion designers known to mankind. Her trademark: the medusa head of ancient Greece.​

Short Bio: Zennia grew up in a large city, their parents stressing the importance of hiding their true identity. When they were 12, they were inspired to start studying to become a teacher. After graduation, and college courses, they finally got a job offer for an early education position. They just happened to catch wind of a gated community for supernaturals that was a better deal than the place they were looking at.

Short Bio: The last of Tenebrus' line with magical talent, Abraxus began his training at a young age with his grandmother, a powerful witch. It became clear to everyone but him that he possessed great magical talent. At the age of 17, he went out into the world as part of his journeyman training. It was there he rescued the daughter of the King of Unicorns. As a sign of the honor between them, the King gave his horn willingly to the young mage, who uses it now primarily as a wand. At nineteen, having passed his Master tests, he was granted a seat on the Senior Council. Many, himself included believed it was due to nepotism. Abraxas then used his newfound influence to create a Home, pouring all his defensive knowledge into wards and guardians.

born anastasia celine black, her mother, diana, was a peasant witch who made very little by healing the sick and wounded. due to anastasia's poor health, she could not bear a child. she wept for days trying many spells, rituals, potions, and incantations but nothing would for her. when one night, she got a visit from Lilith. diana cried to Lilith and begged her for a child. Lilith agreed to give her a child only if she promised to accept and take Lilith into her life, body, heart, and soul as her true religious deity. the deal was made and nine months later, anastasia was born. she was a very talented, intelligent, and gifted witch growing up. as she got older, she practiced different types of magic and trained her demon powers.

reason for moving to broken sword: anastasia never had the money for nice things growing up. a few months before she was born her mother decided she would find a better-paying job to support her and anastasia. nothing she owned was new but it was never damaged. when she reached adulthood she moved into the woods but left after hearing of broken sword. she is joining for lower living costs, extra security and protection, and to meet others like her or ones who are similar

Tell Tale Signs: (Only for supernaturals): During broad moonlight, you can see the silhouette of nine fox tails behind them if they're in their human form.
When shapeshifting, they must first resume their true form: a nine-tailed white fox with red markings. They're a kitsune in this form, and can utilize their abilities to a greater degree. However, given the fact they're the size of a fox, well, normal human-sized things get a lot tougher. In human form she is bound to a fox's mask, which forces her into her true form if destroyed.

Skills, Powers and Abilities:
Shapeshifting. Can assume the form of a humanoid, but not any animals unless they're foxes. One of Nines' most favored abilities( and the one they use a lot for their little tricks) happens to be the ability to change their face. They can alter their height, build, voice, facial features, and skin tone, among other things. Such changes are mostly cosmetic and minor in scope. More drastic shaping requires time and preparation beforehand, such as altering their bone structure, gender, adding more muscle, etc. It doesn't allow them to regrow a severed limb for instance, but does let them speed up its regrowth as well as keep themselves looking far younger than they actually are. As long as they keep shapeshifting, they're technically immortal.
Voice mimicry: Nines can perfectly mimic the voice of a humanoid they have heard before, so long as they aren't in full moonlight.
Fire and electricity generation. It most commonly used in forms of balls of energy thrown from the tips of their nine tails. It can be used in human form, but it significantly drains their energy.
Dream manifestation and manipulation. Nines can "walk" between dreams of others, but must be asleep while doing so. in such dreams, they can affect their surroundings to some extent and can communicate with the subject. They always appear as a nine-tailed fox in this form. Placing the subject in full moonlight or placing Nines' sleeping form in full moonlight breaks this.
Possessions. Nines can possess the bodies of other creatures. To do so, both Nines and the subject has to be asleep while they use their dream manipulation to "swap" bodies with the subject. This leaves their host body in a comatose state, and they cannot transform their normal body nor their possessed body. The possessed body can walk in full moonlight, but will not have Nine's nine fox tails silhouette.
Flight: While in their fox form, Nines can fly at a slightly slower pace than their walking speed or dash for roughly the same speed as their running speed. Normally used to just hover up and down tall spaces where they can't reach cause they're short as a fox.
Illusions. Nines' bread and butter! Nines can create illusions, the strongest being illusions capable of putting a single creature to "sleep" in a dream-like state for a few seconds up to a few minutes, just long enough for a speedy getaway. The illusions can be visible to one creature of many(although the later taxes them far more than just the former). Most of their illusions are harmless pranks though, however useful they may be for concealing the fact Nines just ate the whole cookie box. They resemble more like hallucinations, and most of the time do not deal lasting harm.
Con Artist and Pickpocket: Exactly what it says on the tin.
Luck Manipulation: It's unknown if Nines can even do this consciously, but for some unspeakable reason they're either really really lucky or really really unlucky. Can apply to others, but mostly just the "unlucky" part.
Reason For Moving to Broken Sword: They may or may not have conned the wrong person and decided they really needed a place to lie low for a while before getting back into their chaotic shenanigans.
Short Bio: Nines likes changing their face, their forms. Never staying never, always wandering. Always moving, as if they were a cursed traveller. They were a wanderer, one who would never settle, one who would strangely show up at houses in the middle of the day jollily asking for shelter for the night. Those who accepted them often found strange luck gracing their travels while those who refused mysteriously would find harmless, but annoying pranks being played upon them by mischievous spirits. Nines spent most of their years just wandering, drifting here and there, occasionally conning people out of a few hundred bucks when it seemed the mortal world was a bit cruel and a few pockets a bit too loose(hey, can't help a kleptomaniac fox can ya?), relying on their luck and trickster abilities. But it seems their luck has finally ran out after a disastrous con attempt gone wrong where they narrowly escaped with their nine tails, Nines decided that lying low from both police enforcements and public eye would be the best for a while until they could get back on the road. Perhaps they really really should rethink their formerly carefree lifestyle built off of tricks and "harmless" pranks involving a few thefts and shoplifting.

Short Bio: Strunmir used to be a fire juggler/breather for a circus, back when those were popular. He had viewed the other carnies as a family, even the unknowing humans. Then a tragic accident involving fire and their circus tent cost him everything, he lost his "family", his home, everything. With nowhere else to go, he moved to Broken Sword, where he lives off his savings while he tries to find a job that he's good at. Good thing he has a lot saved up from his hoarding habits.

Nature Affinity: Doe has a natural affinity for both plant and animal life alike. He can communicate with animals like he would an actual person, while animals are more inclined to like him, their opinion of him is still capable of being negative. He also has a green thumb, Plants will become fully grown within 24 hours and will begin flowering/fruiting (if applicable) 72 hours afterward.
Magic Magnet: The runes on Doe's back work by absorbing excess magic from Doe, but sometimes he emits too much magical energy for it to be absorbed properly. This excess magic often rubs off on the environment and can either cause something magical to happen or attracts something magical into Doe's general area (dude has come home to a unicorn in his house before, for reference). What happens and when is completely out of his control, most of the time the event is harmless, though a little bewildering.
Magic Resistance: Because the runes work by absorbing excess magic, Doe is resistant to many weaker spells. This does not work on stronger spells, as their magic too much for the runes to absorb.
Spells: Though he hasn't really used active magic at this point, Doe is capable of using magic without external sources, despite his hindrance.

Weaknesses
Iron: Doe is highly allergic to iron, just touching something made of iron will leave him with painful blisters. The sound of Iron against Iron (such as iron bells, or banging iron pots and pans) is also very painful to him.
Salt: while its not lethal like iron is, Doe has a low sodium tolerance, food with high salt content can make him very sick
Brutal Honesty: Like most Fae, Doe will always tell the truth, he may bend the truth and 'leave out' details but he can't outright lie to someone. Do note the truth is subject to Doe's perception of it, if he believes something is true when its not, he will still be able to say it as if it were true. Doe must also uphold his word at all times, if you ask him a favor and he agrees, he is bound by that favor until its fulfilled.

Short Bio:
Doe was born as a powerful Fae of the Summer Court, however a dispute led to him being cursed. The curse caused Doe to fall gravely ill, to save his life, Doe's family placed a spell binding rune on Doe to cancel out the effects of the curse and they swapped his place with a regular human so he could recover. While the rune was able to suppress the curse, it also suppressed his memories and innate magic. The last thing Doe remembers was waking up in the middle of nowhere, barely aware of who he even was. Human authorities found him and were concerned his situation was the result of foul play. They placed him under witness protection until their investigation was completed. When authorities failed to find any evidence Doe was in danger or dangerous himself, he was released from their protection and left to rebuild his life on his own. He now lives in Broken Sword and runs a flower shop.

Reason For Moving to Broken Sword: Shortly after he left witness protection, Doe met his pet cat, and good friend Albatross. She suggested that Broken Sword might have the answers he is looking for regarding his past and how to move forward.

Other:
- Hes pretty convinced hes just a regular human despite the painfully obvious signs that say otherwise lol
- He does have a pet cat who talks to him, but shes mostly there to look cute and doesn't affect much.
-he does have more active abilities but they're currently suppressed by the runes, i can list them out if you like or wait until it becomes relevant but idk if it ever will be.

Skills, Powers and Abilities:
Shapeshifting. Eiji can shapeshift, most often changing into human forms, altering; sex, skin & hair & eye color, voice, height, weight, facial and body features and structure (the whole nine yards). The more drastically different, the more energy it takes to shapeshift. He can also shapeshift into other animals as well (mythical animals are avoided, won't be used). As a kitsune he has a nine tailed fox form and a smaller fox form.

Voice: Eiji can mimic the voice of someone or animal they have heard before.

Energy Generation / Fox Fire. Eiji can generate fox fire, generally he uses it in place of flashlights. He can summon them like small fire balls, the color of this fire is blue. Using it for non-violent actions does not cost as much energy as it would if he were to try using it as an attack.

Dreamware. Eiji cannot walk or communicate with others between dreams unless they are of the same cloth (species), but he is aware when something or someone is entering his mind or dreams.

Illusions. Eiji can conjure illusions, the grander the more taxing. Some may be temporary while others are permanent (such as a false wall or natural barrier that hides entry to a room). Most illusions he creates are used as ways to trick criminals or runaway suspects into being caught to things such as catching someone in a lie.

Influence: Small but effective changes around him, often used while in close pursuit of a target. Things often considered "bad luck" by most people, such as someone running but they can't cross the street now because of oncoming traffic speeding up.

Reason For Moving to Broken Sword AND Short Bio:
Eiji comes from a family of foxes that by their whims were malevolent or mischievous with human kind and what ever other supernatural creatures came across them. Such antics were successfully challenged when one of their own cursed the family to instead protect, guide, and preserve life. Tension and strain on values and differences of perspective caused the family to collapse in on itself and scatter them throughout the world. Those that tried maintaining their more beastly natures were hunted by man, while those less so survive and wander. Some were sealed for their more persistent destructive behavior. Eiji moved here specifically to act as security for the community, both from external forces and civil affairs. (Maybe he was the person Nines tried to con if interest? Sunsmiter Sunsmiter )

Skills, Powers and Abilities:
Transformation: Can turn into a human form. Very good for not causing mass panic. Also can shift back into an angelic form. He, however, cannot hide his wings. Luckily they're surprisingly squishable, and can be concealed under a thick jacket. He can turn into his true form(biblically accurate true form that is) but that is...very not recommended.
Healing Touch: Can heal himself or others. Can cure diseases and possibly even suppress curses for a time.
Regeneration: His wounds close at a rapid rate, allowing him to stay ageless so long as he isn't destroyed.
Flight: These wings ain't for show!
Dream-walking(uncontrolled): Michael unfortunately gets bounced randomly into a dream whenever he goes to sleep. Used a long time ago by angelic prophets, this does nothing except annoy Michael since he very much would not like to be in a random dream with talking hot dogs, thank you very much. Ironically, the former angel has absolutely no control over who's dream he arrives in, nor any control over the dream itself, and also cannot exit the dream unless one of them wakes up.
Energy Generation: Michael can absorb vast amounts of energy via light or sunlight and actually is part of his light dependency. This can manifest as energy beams, really high body temperature, flaming wings, etc. One downside is how he apparently keeps on burning through his sweaters thanks to flaming wings. Also fairly uncontrolled since Michael can primary only use his abilities for defense.
Divine Senses: Michael is allergic to anything relating to fiends, undead or fallen angels.
Light: Michael can create light. He ironically cannot extinguish it and the light will burn until it exhausts itself.
Smite: Michael can channel radiant energy through any melee attack, so long as he has been in bright light within the last day. This is primary only effective against fiends or undead though.
Shield Guardian: Michael can attack via smite, however his power is greatly reduced compared to any other angelic creatures of a similar force. Michael instead has traded offense for defense, being adept at defending his allies or himself rather than fighting.
Chains of Heaven: Michael's punishment takes form as a length of chain made entirely out of light that wraps around the limbs. Michael can use the chain to wrap around a single creature. This creature cannot use any supernatural abilities and is restrained until the chain is broken or removed by an enchanted tool or weapon or until Michael is forced to let go of the chains/unlocks them willingly. While using the chain, all of Michael's abilities are heavily reduced. Normally the chains are wrapped around Michael's upper back, wrists, ankles and shoulders, manifesting as a ghostly mark that cannot be removed. Michael cannot use the ability if he does not have the chains. If the chains are broken, they reappear on Michael after 1 day has passed. While wearing these chains, Michael cannot planar travel and while he can access his true form, its power is greatly diminished. Michael himself cannot remove these chains and while they're on Michael they are unbreakable.
Power Negation: It's more of an inherent magic resistance than anything. Spells will have a reduced effect against Michael and he can negate one ability of his choice via touch. This ability will cause him to be unable to use any of his own abilities for 1 hour afterwards. A shapeshifer hit by this effect is forced into its own form, and a possessed creature will be no longer possessed.
Eldritch Form: Michael's true form has quite a lot more eyes and quite a lot more wings and quite a lot more fear factor than he needs.
Light dependence: Michael must remain in an area of bright light for at least 1 hour per day or suffer from a wasting illness that severely saps his strength.

Reason For Moving to Broken Sword: After the death of the one creature he was supposed to protect, the former guardian left what shattered remnants of a life he had, preferring to roll over and accept whatever divine punishment he might have in store. It's his form of exile, a form of repentance for what he failed to do.
Short Bio: Michael used to be an guardian angel. Used to being the key words. It ended when he failed, simple as that. The creature he was entrusted with the protection of died, and that was that. Now he bears chains made from light that remind him of the ward he left behind, and the regrets that were sure to never leave.

  • "Alchemy" - An incredibly strong grasp on chemistry and pharmaceuticals, but she insists on calling it alchemy. Anything she makes is a potion or an elixir.
  • Screech - A scream that is so loud that it shatters eardrums and glass alike.
  • Step - As a ghostly being, she can simply walk through any mundane material. Exceptions are silver, lead, and anything blessed.
  • Invisibility - When she so chooses, she can turn completely invisible. However, she cannot maintain it for long periods of time, and anyone who can see past illusions can see past it.
  • Fire Immunity - Many people have tried this, but it never works. Still hurts, though.
Short Bio/Reason: A long time ago, in a land far away, Beatrice Laxly was born to two farmers. However, when plague washed over the land, her entire village was razed in an attempt to prevent it from spreading. But for some reason, Beatrice was able to rise from her ashen grave. She travelled the land in search of the answer as to why, learning the art of alchemy along the way. At first the world welcomed her, her knowledge in potion-making hailed as a godsend in times when new plagues spread. In the past few centuries, hostility towards witches has risen. The first time she was burned at the stake was a surprise, but by the tenth time she moved to a new village and was promptly burned, she could see the pattern. If these youngsters wouldn't accept her, perhaps it was time for her to get a little hideaway. She's still a wanderer at heart, moving to a new home every century or so, but for now she has chosen Broken Sword to settle down.

Perfect heat control: Her species are innately endowed with perfect heat control. They can create flames. They can charge up energy and release big flames rather than just exhaling normal flames. They cannot make heat dissipate, however, only move around/compress it.
Magical core: Some of their species, her included, are born with capacity for controlling magical energy.
Anti-affinity for water and cold magic manipulation.
Due to the harsh environment of Suffocating Hotlands where her species resided for all of their evolutionary history, they have evolved bodily mechanisms to redirect heat away from their bodies into the environment, making it even hotter over millions of years, because they cannot destroy heat, only control and create it. Thus, their species are poorly adapted to living in normal environments without causing their surroundings to heat immensely, thus the survivors of the apocalypse settling in coldest possible places on Earth's subspace realms where they can safely exhude heat without destroying their living place.

As she had nowhere to turn being the last of her species, Abraxas offered her to join his community which she readily accepted.
Short Bio: The species of dragon named Suffocating Hotlands Dragons evolved in a realm named Suffocating Hotlands, which is a big amount of rocky, bony land of immensely high temperatures, where the air is so hot it is almost magma. Suffocating Hotlands Dragons evolved to redirect the heat of the environment away from their bodies, making the original habitat even hotter over thousands of millenia. The dragons live around 10,000 years unless killed and have a life cycle which is about the same as in humans multiplied by 100. Near the end of their lifespans, they leave enormous skeletons, which over the millions of years, created the characteristic mix of rock and bone which is Suffocating Hotlands' ground. The species' history was from the beginning one of endless cannibalism - the only food supply they have had. "Dragon eat dragon" was literally the rule of their "jungle". This chaotic lifestyle continued as they evolved for millions of years in this isolated subspace realm on Earth. Eventually, however, the realm was disturbed and made uninhabitable by a meteorite which destroyed the precarious eco-system, causing the realm to lose it's ability to house so many Suffocating Hotlands Dragons and caused a mass, but far from complete, extinction. She was one of the three dozen dragon babies conceived within decades after the "apocalypse" occured and due to uninhabitability of the now destroyed Suffocating Hotlands' eco-system, a tribe to which she was born was forced to escape the realm and look for another such subspace. No other suitable subspace realm existed in the Earth's deserts, but luckily they found one that was extremely cold in the Arctics. However, even despite mass extinction, the small habitable Arctic realm was not enough to house all survivors and the "dragon eat dragon" continued until even her parents, a hardy survivors who took everything in stride up until now fell to infighting. With no where to go and no one to eat, she remained the sole survivor in the realm left for dead. That is, until by accident Abraxas found and saved her and created a white magical puffer jacket for her which absorbs heat generated by her body, allowing her to be the first and last of her species to ever be able to live in normal environments.
