Your points in a specific area will determine your ability to attack, counter or defend against other students in that specific area, as well as your success in classes.​
The point system is used to determine to what extend people can use their abilities. So Teachers at Bright are top in the world, maxing out 1 skill at 150 points. They can basically do anything within a field, leaving battles between them up to how the players act a battle out.

So example :

If a student with 15 points in Water magic tries to block a water (or another element) attack from a student with 30 points in water magic, they would most likely not succeed. As students make up their own spells up I will add them to the Lore page, where students can consult if they are looking for a reference for battles (Not necessary but if desired). Here the points would determine how successful a player would be in casting it. EG. If a player with 30 points in water magic tried to recreate a spell taught in class, rated at 45 points, They have a less than average chance of pulling it off. They still can, but it would be a lot harder and a bit of a risk.

This is just to keep characters from being over-powered all at once, and giving players a chance to see their characters advance :) We can definitely come up with an easier system if you would prefer that though <3 . Teachers are a little OP in their area of expertise but they won't really be battling students :P

History/Background: Elise Lockwood is the youngest Head of Bright Academy in history. Born in the city, to a family of Fire mages, she learnt how to wield the flame before she knew how to walk. She attended Bright her entire school career, and prides herself on a lineage rich in former Bright students. Never married and without any children of her own she strives to bring out only the best in each student. She was the first to initiate the Dueling system in Bright Academy. She says that it's for the purpose of building stronger students, with more desire for success... but is that the whole story?

Personality: Elise is a strict, highly-organised and disciplined woman. While rare to exhibit excess affection, she is kind at heart with a soft spot for sincere students. Witty and intelligent, she makes a ruthless teacher. It will take more than your fair share to impress this lady.

History/Background: Casey's parents weren't too wealthy, nor did they have any background in magic, but they loved her dearly. When her letter came, Casey was shocked but excited to venture into a world she had only dreamed of. The saddest part about leaving home was that her parents, and even her cat Jesse, were bewitched into forgetting her existence, with the promise that when she completed her studies the spell would be removed.

Personality: Casey is a sweet, bubbly girl eager to befriend the world. She is amazed by the world of magic, finding even the smallest feats awe-inspiring. With a deep love of animals she is often found practicing manifesting them. She's no great mage, but her innocent love for magic more than makes up for it.

History/Background: Shin has come from a very large, yet poor background. Even with many siblings Coal is not his father's son. He is the bastard in the family and is treated like one. Besides his mother, Shin finds himself as the black sheep in the family. Growing up on the rough streets of the city life, he has grasped the raw truth of life in general. You only survive if you fight. So when given the opportunity to attend a school for magic, of course he kept this to himself. He figured out his little 'gifts' came from his real father's side.

Shin doesn't know too much about his magic. From what he has placed together and what he has figured out, he can do multiple things with Electricity and things relevant to the element. Going to this school could open new doors for him and his magic. It also may open the door to where he can discover who his real father is.

Personality: Shin speaks in sarcasm mostly. he comes off as stuck up or just down right rude. He doesn't play well with others and can be seen more as a delinquent or the first to throw a punch in a fight if he feels you deserve it. He's hard headed when it comes to conflict. He will not back down from a fight and try and play it off as, "No, officer, I didn't punch him.... I high fived him in the face... With my fist...."

Shin also has a knack for learning. Curious and hopes to expand his horizons with this new school.

Growing up, Taliya had always caused her parents trouble. Having religious, strict parents caused the three of them to clash on almost every issue, from whether Taliya should adopt her parent's religion, to the day she came home with her floral tattoo that covered a good third of her body. By the time Taliya had reached her 17th birthday, she was practically living with her best friend. It was during this six months before their letters arrived that they discovered their abilities.

On the day that Taliya was invited to this so-called "Bright Academy," Taliya didn't even inform her parents- it's not like they would notice her absence, anyways.

Taliya is quite bold and assertive of what she thinks is best. She's perfectly used to arguing and debating against those who had a differing opinion than hers, and sometimes she'll even find enjoyment in said conversations. Though Taliya likes making friends, she has no problem making enemies of her peers, as well. In the rare instance a friendly debate would turn violent, she tends to keep her strong attitude despite the fact that she hasn't a single minute of combat oriented training.

Tristan grew up in a rather wealthy family, and was the middle child of five. Despite the large household, she shone through and became closest to her father. Though this doesn't mean the others were neglected, but the two of them held a certain love for martial arts. For as long as she could remember, she's watched the movies, and tried to practice the moves. However, when she turned 10, her father finally allowed her to start classes. Of course, she was able to learn from a personal teacher, without the distractions of other students. During the next six years, she was able to become proficient in multiple styles.

However, during this time, she had met Taliya Shadid- a seemingly delinquent child from a middle class family. Tristan was reluctant at first, but soon became close with the girl. Eventually, they became nearly inseparable. After a particularly bad fight between Taliya and her parents, she seemed to simply move in with Tristan.

Tristan is quite friendly, but lacks the confidence that her best friend does to make many acquaintances. Though she finds it good entertainment when Taliya gets into debates, it can sometimes go too far, and she has to be the "mature" one, ironically, and break up the soon-to-be fight. When she's with someone she knows well enough, Tristan likes to make jokes, which can either be hit or miss(mostly a miss, as she's terrible at coming up with jokes).

Growing up with elemental parents, Elicio is no stranger to powers such as those seen in the academy, having grown up in a family of magic users. He comes from a middle-class background, and spent most of his life living in the normal world, attending average school. Which explains his lack of skill when it comes to his abilites. Upon getting the request to join Bright Academy, he may have danced a little. Just a bit. He was slightly sad at the thought of having to leave home, but what's better than an adventure? Snacks, but you can bring those!

Elicio is laid back and easy going, he enjoys idle discussion and gaining new interests. He can be a little odd sometimes, with his head stuck in the clouds. He talks to everyone like their his friend, which may not be always wanted. He doesn't take himself or others very seriously, and tries to avoid deep conversation and confrontation as much as possible. If he feels that someone is a negative influence, he will cease communication in its entirety. He doesn't like the idea of offending people, and tends to keep himself to himself as a result. Despite the fact that Elicio is quick to trust others, he feigns being more naive than he is. Rai is fond of cooking and aquatic animals (but he doesn't mix the two! This dude is living off a vegan diet), having brought one too many pet fish back to his dorm. He keeps his favorite plush whale shark on his nightstand, he swears he doesn't hug it when he sleeps, that would be embarrassing! Elicio prefers what is comfortable, and occasionally feels rather home sick. While an outgoing and happy person, he meanders close to sorrow and is prone to having off-days where he just doesn't feel up to going outside. Overall, he's a relaxed teen who wishes the best for others, but won't let himself be pushed by their whims.

Alice was born and raised in an extremely wealthy magic family a family well known for its support-type magic, healing, and enchantment mostly and much like the rest of her family Alice fell right into the roots of her family. It didn't take long for Alice's skill to shine in these fields becoming one of the most skilled in her family and becoming renown worldwide for her skill in support magic. She ended up going to Bright Academy and graduating with one of the highest scores in Healing magic recorded. After her graduation, she adventured around a bit going town to town healing and helping out those in need before returning to Bright Academy hearing about a Healing teacher position going. Thanks to her overall expertise and her record of her time in Bright Academy she was easily accepted for the position.

Regen Weiss's mother immigrated to Austria shortly after she was born, finding love and marrying a man to whom has been the only father Regen ever cared to have. Through virtue of being kind of a lil' troll Regen started all kinds of problems for her parents and friends, making them quite worried for her future. Regen spent most of her days chilling by the lake, skipping school like a punk. She's never been mistreated or in a dire situation in her life, or at least viewed situations like that - but she's always been a reckless one, jumping into situations without thinking.

Tuesday has a poor sense of memory and doesn't recall much of his early life. The child of a wealthy heiress, he was never want for much aside from the attention of his mother, who was often away. He lived a sheltered existence, being primarily cared for by house staff. Tuesday would take long walks each day, during which he developed a love for the transient beauty of the natural world and the large lakes surrounding his home. Noire displayed a prowess for the magical arts during his schooling, so it was no surprise when he received an invitation to attend Bright Academy, having no exceptionally strong ties to his local made his acceptance an easy one.

Tuesday is a reserved studious type. He has sensitive sensibilities and a fondness for nature. While Tuesday is introverted, he does not struggle to keep conversations going once they've begun. He's prone to dressing a little bizarrely and appears to put stickers on everything he owns. He has an attachment to a silver comb, which is presumably an enchanted object made from moonbeams. Tuesday is admittedly a bit of a pushover and would very easily succumb to such things as peer pressure. He wants to be both impressive and respected in the eyes of those around him.

Juniper comes from a long line of magic users and Bright Academy alumni. Magic was a regular part of her childhood. While most of her family practiced some form of elemental magic or illusion magic, Juniper had taken to none other than Necromancy, but the light kind, so that was okay, right?

Juniper inherited some of her families elemental magic, but it became apparent at the age of five that her true calling was going to be in Light Necromancy. Her parents had taken her to a funeral when her babysitter had been unable to watch her. Her parents took her up to see her mother's coworker in her casket and Juniper remembers asking why mommy;s friend was in her sleeping box and standing next to it. Her parents promptly scooped her up and promptly left. Over the years, her encounters have been few and far in between, but she has developed an sense for auras. She can't see into peoples minds or souls, but every now and then, she will catch a glimpse of someones aura. It usually tells her simply what kind of mood they're in. She's hoping that with training at the academy, she will be able to harness the true powers of Light Necromancy.

Home life for Juniper was normal. She didn't typically talk about her powers or auras or what the dead were up to recently. Even coming from an all magical family, it was still a rather strange area of study and people tended to get creeped out by it. While her parents were shocked that her natural magical ability was light necromancy, it didn't change their love for her. She grew up with a loving family and some close friends. So with a strong support system behind her, she packed her things and headed for Bright.

Juniper is a very bubbly, friendly, and outgoing person. Some might consider her obnoxious at times, but she was always encouraged to be herself growing up and that support inspired much of her generous and affectionate personality. She's not particularly stubborn. She tends to do as she's told and doesn't usually question an authority figure. Depending on the situation, she might be quick to anger, but for the most part, Juniper tries to keep things warm and happy. Easily excited, she loves surprises and making people laugh.

People that don't know her well might consider her strange. She'll treat someone likes she's known them her whole life and sometimes her coming on so strong turns people off. Making friends is comes easy to her (if they haven't already been turned off by her strong personality), but while she's only ever had platonic relationships, she's incredibly awkward and shy when it comes to anything serious. It's something she wants, but any attempt at serious flirting or charming comes off clumsy.

She can't cook, bites her nails when she's nervous, and can't sleep without background noise.

Background: Grimlock is a contract spirit that, for a small portion of one's soul energy, has been contracted by many powerful wizards, headmasters, and headmistresses, to help them protect Bright Academy in times of need. Which was never written in the history of the school. But after not having to be summoned for a long time, he has grown weak and desires a new host.
After "accidentally" being summoned by one of the classmates, they have become his new host and Grimlock must help them achieve their goals for he must feed.

Clean Necromancy: 151

Clean Necromancy is the branch of necromancy where things like warding areas against the undead, communing with hallowed spirits and channeling holy energy to purge reanimated corpses is filed. Professor Garland was one of the pioneers of this type of Necromancy and remains among its most skilled practitioners.
Known spells:
Least Undead Disruption:

Requiring a Clean Necromancy skill of 3 Least Undead Disruption charges your non-dominant hand with an aura of vital energy, which will! Burn and sear anything powered by death energy.
Least Undead Disruption Ray:
Requiring a Clean Necromancy skill of 5 this is much the same, save fired from the index finger as a momentary ray of vital energy.
Least Undead Disruption Spray:
Much the same as the above, but fired from the spread fingers of one hand as a sheet of holy light. Requires a clean necromancy skill of 10.
Least 'Comune With The Departed':
Requiring Clean Necromancy Score of 20 this spell allows you to summon the soul of a recently deceased individual (less than 1 hour per point of Clean Necromancy skill,) and ask it (# = clean necromancy skill) questions of no more than (# = clean necromancy skill) words each. The shade is under no obligation to answer those questions, and can (if it prefers,) lie. To cast the spell you must have possession of the majority of the deceased's bones, which must include the skull. The soul summoned cannot answer anything it didn't know in life, nor can it communicate in any manner that was not possible in life. The soul manifests as an illusory translucent ghost suffused with vital energy, which cannot affect the real world except as per the abilities of the weakest ghost or by casting any spells it knew at the time of its death.
Spurn Death's Call:
Requiring a Clean Necromancy skill of 120 this spell suffuses the caster with an immense charge of Vital Energy, staving off death. The caster will not age further for the next cycle of their planet around their sun. The spell can also reverse the aging process somewhat, over many years, turning the individual younger by 1/10th of a planetary orbit if cast about half that time before the previous casting would expire. Beware of greed for youth, however, because of casting it any more often than that inevitably causes cancer. This spell requires a specially prepared vat of healing elixir made from expensive alchemical reagents, distilled water, and a pint of the willingly donated blood of a virgin, into which the caster suffuses the vital energy and submerges themselves for a full 25 hours. Drowning is possible and the caster must not foul the elixir with 'bodily wastes' or the spell will cause cancer instead of halt their aging process. The caster, therefore, will be well advised to fast and drink sparingly for at least a week before attempting the spell.
The preparations for this spell require a minimum skill of Enchantment 20, Healing 10, and Alchemy 20, though if the caster trusts their helpers these steps can be done by other mages.

Foul Necromancy: 50*
Foul Necromancy, by contrast, is where all the reanimating corpses, summoning shades and specters and turning yourself into a Litch come into the picture. 'Foul' necromancy cannot be practiced by those pure of heart, though they can understand the theoretical side of it, and slowly corrupts those who use it, no matter how noble their intentions. For this reason, the Bright Academy only teaches the theoretical side of Foul Necromancy, and even then only with the written permission of the headmaster/headmistress.

Relationships: John is and has been in a Heterosexual life partnership with his best friend Robbert for over three-thousand years. The two have had numerous lovers and even wives, but they are and remain closer than brothers. Just recently, about a year ago, John lost his 36th wife to old age, and is mourning her loss, as he has for each of his wives before her, dressing exclusively in black and wearing a mourning brooch of blackened iron set with Jet at the closure of his cloak. History/Background: One of the greatest luminaries of the field of Clean Necromancy, Professor Jonathan Garland has worked for the Bright Academy for hundreds of years. Born over three-thousand years ago, John pioneered most of the major early advances in Clean Necromancy, alongside his best friend Robbert, especially the Immortality Elixer necessary for the proper function of the spell 'Spurn Death's Call'. This spell, risky though it is, was the first fully viable alternative to the evil magical process which creates a Litch and was largely responsible for the fall of the Litch-Kings that ruled much of the world at the time. In the countless years since, Jonathan and Robert have lived their lives, both together and apart, but always valuing their friendship and deep spiritual connection. They have been both old and young, had many lovers and wives, and watched the world evolve away from magic and arcane power to embrace science and technology.
Personality: Just recently, John looked back over his several the
thousand years of life and realized that he had not bothered to learn much since the death of his first wife over 3000 years ago. In a moment of prescient clarity he remembered what it was like to study and discover, and as his class size is the lightest it has been for centuries this semester, he has decided he will 'audit' the courses of other professors as his schedule permits for the next century or so: which is a perk of his job with the academy that he's never used until now...

On a more personal note, John is a very calm, laid back, and collected fellow: one does exceed 3000 years of age without learning that "this too shall pass" and he mostly sticks to his routine and keeps to himself. John remains rather, 'old-fashioned', in his social practices. As an example, when he starts looking for a new wife, generally about 21-25 years after the previous one's death from old age, he begins by consulting a matchmaker, not with going to bars or downloading an app. Then, when he finds a woman he is sure he wishes to marry, he first obtains the blessing of her parents: and then has the 'banns' published in the local news outlets for three consecutive Sundays at least a month111 in advance of the wedding day.
Description:
Standing 6'4" with a perpetually amused expression Professor Jonathan Garland looks like a Norman king from a coin. He currently wears only black, a mourning tradition dating back to his youth in pre-Roman Etruria. Though he has updated his wardrobe with more modern clothes such as suit jackets and ties, he still wears a Norman style cloak with a detachable hood and carries an enchanted Arming Sword at his belt. Physically John is a muscular and pale skinned individual who appears to be in his late 20s. He has short black hair, brown eyes, and a Roman nose, with an 'olive' skin complexion. He is clean-shaven, on not only his face but all areas of the body except his head and eyebrows.

(Dark Blood is like humans, or looks like them mixed with a hint of Elf. Their life expectancy runs from a few hundred years to around 800 or eve 1200. None have lived past 1216. They have the ability to regenerate their own limbs, even if their head was cut from their bodies. But if you kill the brain you kill them... They are not prone to diseases and can die form poison of illnesses. Their bodies just grow at a slower rate... Giving them longer lives.)

History/Background: Graves was born and raised in Romania. His parents were full Dark Blooded and they were already far deep into Foul Necromancy long before Graves was even born. When he was born they taught him from a very young age. He showed potential and great abilities with his Foul craft. He was known mostly for his time in wars and in battles. Animating the those that had fallen to turn the tides and tables on the field of blood.

Eventually after many, many years of study and war, Grave's parents passed and he was left on his own for many years to come. He eventually came to terms that his craft was.... Not normal, nor was it good and many ways. Graves turned his studies and life to understanding what he did and then some. Soon he found himself teaching Advanced Mythical Biology to students who wanted to further their knowledge. Still strange to many people, Graves furthered his career as a Professor and traveled the world... He now teaches at Bright Academy, and has been there for only a few years.

Orientation: Graves if open to all genders... He is just trying to find that one person that loves him for him.

Personality: Graves has a dark humor and a strange way of looking at things. He is fond of sweet things and loves to take things apart... And then put them back together... then take them apart gain....

He is very open with his feelings, but only shares what he thinks is worth sharing. He can either be quiet or loud. Some people might say he has two personalities, but really his actions depend on his moods. If he is happy, he is joyful in a dull expression. If he is sad, he is quiet and very content and restricting with his thoughts. But on the majority of his personality, he is very open to others and will help in anyway he can.

You could call him a cracker of jokes. A riser of atmosphere. He can make the atmosphere of almost any situation about 100 times better. He likes to wander and explore, he wants to take in all the sights, which is unusual for a Golem, especially stone ones. He's fully aware he's the only Golem in the school and will often make jokes about it. He can also tell you anything about Stone Golems or other Golems, their behavior and strengths and weaknesses.

He was raised by the staff and grew to despise his parents over the years, which he managed through a charming kind of sarcasm. Quick note on the Denki race.

If your character's parents are Denki and they are involved in their lives... (raising them) They wouldn't let their children have open relationships unless it's with another Denki seeing as the race is almost extinct. Arranged marriages to other Denkis are not taken lightly. Even if the parents are free spirits or relaxed in any nature, they would understand that trying to keep their race alive is more important. And if the parents don't agree the Denki's have a high council in place to honor traditions and to make sure their race does not become extinct.
