The Chocobo Champion
The Kingdom of Rivienne
Within the Grand Desert lies Grenouille, the capital of the Rivienne Kingdom. The city is built around the largest oasis in the in desert, with the king’s palace having been built directly above it. The capital is well protected by its high walls and elite guards, and is rich off the profits from mining and water distribution. Other cities and villages in the kingdom however, are far worse off. Those without their own water sources are forced to rely of inconsistent supplies from other cities. As a result, most of the kingdom besides the capital is terribly poor. Beneath the kingdom is a vast network of tunnels. In this network lies a great underground river. This river is the lifeblood of the kingdom, and provides the capital city with the great oasis it is so proud of. It is said that this river leads to the heart of the Goddess Rivienne herself.
The Church of Leau’s main temple is built directly next to the royal palace. Unlike the palace, the temple is made of gray stone. It’s age is more than visible, and its architecture is noticeably different from the rest of the city. The church has numerous members, but their most prominent, besides the high priest, is General Goldelle. As the most renown general in Rivienne's army, she holds an immense amount of power. Many say she and her troops are the church's personal army.

The Land of Feurey
The Land of Feurey is home to a massive jungle where the trees reach to the skies, and animals roam abundantly. Towns and villages are built in the few open areas within the forests, and along the coasts. The most populated city in this region is next to the Lake of Rage, where it is said the God Feurey once crashed into Lunacresta. Although the lifestyle of most citizen of the Clans of Feurey aren't lavish, their culture has always revolved around letting no one go without want. Help your neighbor survive, and they will surely help you in return. This attitude has built up an unbreakable unity between the three clans. It is also the reason they haven't been defeated by the Kingdom to the West.
The Three Clans:
Crane: The Crane Clan is commonly the keepers of shrines and temples. They are well versed in healing magic, and are the keepers of Feurey’s Crystal. They keep such places safe with their strong and disciplined samurai. Anything concerning the protection of the crystal generally falls under their jurisdiction.
Tiger: The Tiger Clan is the powerhouse of this nation. With the biggest family, they normally call the shots. They’re well known for their naval prowess, and tendency to take more loot that they can carry. You’ll find members of this clan leading the charge into battle more often than not, or battling pirates at sea.
Rat: No one really knows exactly where the Rat Clan is at, but they usually find you before you can find them. They handle the dirty under-the-table action, and are excellent spies. Many practitioners of dark magic also find their way into this clan’s ranks.

Excerpt from the Book of the Crystals
In the beginning, there had always been two beings: Nouvellen, the God of Light and Life; and Finnell, the Goddess of Darkness and Death. They are known as the Eternal Beings. Through their union the universe was created, and through their existence it is maintained. Eventually, the Eternal Beings gave birth to three children.
The first was Feurey, the god of Heat and Flames. He was a rebellious child, and was prone to ‘accidentally’ destroying things his parents would create. In time, he would learn to control his power.
The second child was Rivienne, The goddess of water. At first, the goddess was quite subconscious about her lack of power compared to her parents and elder brother, but Nouvellen promised she would one day discover her true strength.
The third child was Ventin. A cold and calculated god of the wind and sky. He cared little for his siblings, but even less so for his parents. He would soon find just how important it was to care for his family.
The Elemental Children came together to make a creation of their own. This creation became known as Lunacresta. The Children then created humanity. Humans were weak and frail, but multiplied and adapted quickly. They were quite entertaining to watch as well. However, Feurey had other plans for the humans besides simple entertainment...
War...
The Elemental Children sought the Eternal Beings’ powers. Together with humanity they battled for eons, in a conflict known as the Ancient War. Slowly but surely the Elder Beings gained the upper hand, prepared to crush their children and humanity. It seemed that they were invincible! However, a group of humans known as the Warriors of Light emerged. Together with the Elemental Children, they were able to subdue Nouvellen and Finnell. The Eternal Beings had their power split apart, and sealed within three unbreakable crystals.
In the fallout of the Ancient War, monsters began to rise across Lunacresta, slaughtering nearly all of humanity. The Elemental Children gathered the remaining humans on a single continent, and with the three crystals, formed a barrier of magical energy around the continent. This energy prevents monsters from entering, but allowed humans to pass through. It was this barrier that was the Elemental Childrens’ gift to humanity for battling alongside them.

Since the final battle of the Ancient War, humanity has not made contact with the Elemental Children. All they have left is the Book of the Crystals, and the teaching of various religious orders.
