History: The Technocratic United States of the Pacific Ocean were formed very recently by a referendum in the nations of Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. The Neoliberal party took these nations by storm, promising a state where the poor would be helped without punishing the rich. The party promised a nation that would give refuge to those in need and fight facts like climate change. They promised a state where science guided policy. They promised a state where trade and cultural exchange would be fostered and encouraged. This new globalist ideology appealed to many, enough that a referendum was set up. All three nations voted yes to a new, unified nation, with each country retaining degrees of independence. While it hasn't been enough time to know for sure, the new neoliberal state is definitely prospering, and referendums in Argentina, Colombia, and Costa Rica are scheduled within a few years, and both Mexico and New Zealand have special status within the union. While not full members, they have close ties with the new union and may join it at some point in the future.

In 2015, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe publicly apologized on behalf of the Japanese Government to Korea for it's wartime atrocities. The negotiations that had been going on for years, was finally agreed upon as Japan committed to paying 1bn Yen. Which was the amount needed for the South Korean government to fund the surviving comfort women.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-35188135
http://thediplomat.com/2017/01/the-...apan-south-korea-comfort-women-deal-unravels/
With President Park ousted in late 2016, and the ushering of a new president, Moon Jae In, the president has committed to settling the contravertial issue of comfort women once and for all, and expresses that the issue shouldn't affect or deteriorate the overall relations between the two countries.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/11/asia/south-korea-japan-comfort-women/
After intensive negotiations, the new agreement will not change the 1bn yen payment. But, Japan, has agreed that it will recognize the full emotional and cultural impact and damage it has caused. Under the agreement that Korea will no longer use the issue of comfort women to antagonize and harass Japan. And that it will re-locate the comfort women statue in front of the Japanese Embassy.

With the increasing threat of North Korean nuclear program, along with the protests from China, which has boycotted Korea.
http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-china-blog-39254254
http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20...t-numbers-plummet-china-boycott/#.WSdts2jytEY
Because of China's aggressive moves, the Korean government has begun seeking for a stronger alliance with a weary Japan. As both the US and North Korea, whom both have taken an agressive stance against each other and are escalating tensions within the region.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39623882
Both South Korea and Japan began negotiations to counter the North Korean and Chinese threat. And with already good economic relations that were established by President Park Chung Hee back in the 1960s, and with korea and japan having multiple talks of Free trade over the past few years, Korea has decided to push faster for an overall trade deal, that will benefit both Korea and Japan.
https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/biz/2017/01/367_222846.html
Korea, which put a ban on Japanese products, but was partially lifted under President Kim Dae Jung, has offered to completely lift the ban, which was met with a lot of positivism from Japanese investors. And with the Korean Cultural Wave, still continuing within Japan, many Japanese supported the idea of stronger economic, and trading ties among-st the two countries. Especially from the younger population from both nations, whom wanted to start fresh relations with the other. By November of 2017, the two countries finally negotiated an FTA deal.

With the Korea-Japan Military PACT that was signed in 2012, the two countries negotiated to expand the alliance from simply intelligence sharing to a full-scale, to an Alliance government. Due to the fear of nuclear threat from North Korea, including missile strikes, as both countries are within North Korean ICBM range. And the increasing aggression from China, which has also isolated South Korea Economically, following the installation of THAAD. It was agreed that the new Country would use both Seoul and Tokyo as their Administrative regions, and capitals. Along with the merging of both the ROK Military and JSDF Forces into a single military force. Under the leadership of the East-Pacific Government.

Events of the last year:
After increasing tensions and mounting aggression from Indian Muslim Extremists, support grew for the BJP. It soon became clear that Amit Shah was simply not willing to make the changes necessary. So the Cheif of Army Staff soon found his way leading the party. Juggling political engagements with his position leading the Indian Military. When the government building was bombed by a Pakistani based Extremist group in August 4th 2017, killing the President and Prime-Minister, causing a firefight between Hindu Nationalists and the Islam Extremists on the steps of the building. The firefight then led to the death of the Vice President. By the time the Military had quelled the situation and retaken the building from the Islam Extremists, that had attempted to storm it, there was no one to lead the nation. Bipin saw the opportunity and claimed the victory as his own, calling an emergency election. On August 12th the BJP had won by a landslide majority and Bipin was named President. As tensions grew, and constant fights, both armed and otherwise, broke out between extreme Hindu and Islam groups all over the country. A repeat of the time before the two party state was enacted seemed to be occurring. A mass exodus of Islamic Indians took place, either voluntarily or by force, displacing their populations into Pakistan. As the situation seemed to be improving, Bipin claimed it as yet another of his victories. Using his new Political power and influence to name himself Loknayak. Leader of the People. Political enemies of the BJP then soon began to disappear, however the nation continued to state it was an free and equal democratic nation. While this was not ignored by the Global community, Bipin made great efforts to improve diplomatic relations, knowing he had set back Indias chance at being the next Permanent UNSC member and perhaps lost some international respect he looked to strengthen relations with the UK, hoping India could find a strong place within the Commonwealth.

Recent History:

Since 2017, Italy's faith in the EU has been rocked by the ongoing migrant crisis and the backlash of Brexit. Many people in Italy are pushing to leave the EU, and Italy is already beginning to wean off the Euro, all the while building up it's armed forces, with President Mattarella predicting a "coming time of instability" for the world. This expanison, along with new economic reforms, have negated the recent economic downturn and the economy is once more improving.
