Multiple Settings Bored'n'Searchin'

Hey there.

I've been rather bored recently and had little to no luck with any group roleplays, so I decided I'd give this a shot. I can get down to roleplaying basically anything, save for highschool, trashy romance and well... okay, maybe I lied just a little a bit. In short, I despise generic writing that offers nothing new to set itself apart from the millions of other works, doing exactly the same thing. I don't like fantasy settings that just lowkey rip off Tolkien, that kind of stuff.

Experimentation is something I can truly get down to, with settings, genres, characters, whatever. Concerning characters, exploring personalities and mindsets alien to my own is what I enjoy the most, pushing myself as best as possible to understand things from the viewpoint of someone very unlike me. I also roleplay to amuse myself, not to sit through endless paragraphs of pain, suffering and/or abuse, themes like that I save for conventional writing for the most part. Although, I'm willing to delve into them if appropriate, just not overly so.

Before I start one on one roleplays, I prefer to talk for a while. About the roleplay itself, the possible characters and themes, all of the good stuff, as to get a proper feel for it before it begins. I'm also an ardent world builder, but there's no need to indulge in that with me, it's just something I do in my spare time.

So yeah, that's about it, idk what else to put here, I'm new to this. If you're interested, just hmu I guess? Any questions I'll answer either here or in dms.

Genre : Urban Fantasy

"Young magic users traveling the world learning magic."
Genre : Fantasy

"World where humans are broken into power class with assigned soulmates."
Genre: Sci Fi, Fantasy

"New magic user in dark world filled with blood sacrifice, possession, etc."
Genre: Fantasy or Urban Fantasy

Genre : Urban Fantasy

Not something that would normally draw my interest, I don't think. Just doesn't feel like there's much to do with that for long, the concept, in my opinion having quite the high chance of simply devolving into a slice of life, just in a zoo. If I were to put that on my list of things to try out, it wouldn't be too high.

Genre : Fantasy

A flexible enough concept, a fairly inviting one. You can do essentially anything here, that's good. As much as it is a bit overplayed, a fine amount of twists can be thrown at it, giving it a sense of uniqueness of its own. I'd say that it's a good idea to turn to when you just wanna do something fun and casual, in a good way.

Unfortunately, I don't really know what to imagine here. Power class in what sense? Soulmates as in... lovers, friends? I'd need some more info to evaluate this one.

Well, it is spooky season, I suppose. On a more serious note though, it really depends on what "dark" means. If it's killing children and dogs for no real reason kind of dark, then that's a definite no. If it's dark in the sense that it truly goes out of its way to test the resolve and determination of the characters, pushing them over the edge to reach a better future (one that can actually be reached, because why bother if there's nothing waiting at the end of the tunnel), then sure, no reason to not consider that.
