This is where the lore and bits of random trivia will be kept. Will likely always be growing. If there is any information you would like me to add, please contact me through either the OOC thread or a PM.

General Lore
Despite what some may believe, becoming bonded does not actually chain humans and demons together, though the two do become connected. It is not restrictive to either party and they can indeed live separately. They need to be in close proximity for approximately six hours per week, which can be spread throughout that span. Basically, they can just hang out for an hour a day and still get full benefits from the bond.
The bonding itself used to involve complex rituals but has since been toned down to a single, basic binding ceremony, not unlike a wedding. (Just to be clear, it's not unlike a demonic wedding ceremony, or at least an exchange of vows for the human side of things. There is generally no cake involved. Sorry.) The ceremony is witnessed by a human church official and a High Demon, as well as anyone either party wishes to invite. (This was made popular from the very beginning as the humans wanted family protection or at least for someone to know what had happened if the demon decided to tweak the ceremony to instead absorb their own life force as well. Humans are a paranoid lot, especially when it comes to demonic rituals.)
The world the humans live in is much like the one we know, except there are also demons walking freely, even creating their own lives in the mortal realm. The demons, on the other hand, do not live in Hell, like we've been taught to believe. They reside in a similar realm of their own, if leaning more towards a somewhat medieval setting. They have a nobility system, but no actual government. The reigning Grand High Demon is constantly changing as wars are fought and won, creating a general anarchy. (Not to be confused with a monarchy.) Also, demons can travel freely between the two realms with little to no difficulty, but humans must be accompanied by a demon to make the trip. Most demons can only travel with one or sometimes two, but there has been the occasional three-human trip. There has never been a report of any demon bringing four humans across the "line" and it is thought to be impossible.
It is possible for a demon to bond with a different human but it is more difficult. The degree of increased difficulty depends on how compatible the two are with each other. There is only one human for each demon that is 100% compatible and vice versa but it is also possible to be 80% compatible or 50% and so on. Some demons even bond with several humans throughout their lifetime.
