It had taken everyone a few days to adjust to the new ship and most of the crew members seemed to agree that it was lacking many personal touches that everyone had come to love on Charybdis. Scarlet had to admit that their new vessel was lovely in many ways, but all of her things had been lost and she missed all of what she had had. At least her red ribbon had been in her hair. Given what had happened, she vowed never to leave it behind. She wouldn’t even leave it on her own ship lest the ship become someone else’s somewhere along the way.
Scarlet was almost certain that she wasn’t the only one who had lost things on Charybdis either. She glanced back towards Jasper, the man at the helm, and then ahead, towards the island that would be their final destination before they reached the Grand Line. Jasper had been her longest crew member. Surely he had lost something precious to him and some of the other crew members had also brought along some of their own things. That was why they were stopping. Scarlet hoped that she and some of her crewmates could acquire new precious possessions… or at least, new possessions. It would take time for them to become precious and she knew that. Most of all, Scarlet needed clothes. All of her outfits were gone, she’d been wearing the same outfit for two days, and she felt absolutely disgusting.
And, according to Ed, they needed something called a Log Pose. Their new navigator had said it was the only way to navigate the Grand Line and many of their other crewmates seemed to know similar things. Scarlet still considered that to be secondary to getting clothes, though.
The ship itself seemed to have plenty of supplies. Wasabi had been able to provide delicious meals for everyone on the crew and Scarlet was really glad they had the cook along for the ride. A few weapons had been left behind by some of the scurrying marines and Scarlet had picked up one or two although she didn’t really know how to use them. She figured she could figure out some use for them eventually… or Jasper or Arlen could teach her. That was for later, though. Shopping first.
Throughout their journey, Cletus had seemed to be keeping himself busy. It was a new ship and he obviously had a few things to fix up since they’d been in a firefight with it. It was in better condition than Charybdis would’ve been, though. Scarlet had essentially given him permission to do whatever he felt needed to be done. They still needed a name for their new home on the water, though, and Scarlet was open to suggestions. Every evening at dinner, she would ask all of her crewmates to offer suggestions for names, and she was still not settled on anything.
She had a feeling, though, about the island they were sailing towards. It was called Balaggan Port and it was literally the last island before the Grand Line in the West Blue. After this, there would be no more stops until they were there. They had found the captain of the ship’s money supply so they had plenty of coin. Everyone was charged with making sure they were stocked enough to survive the journey and that was that. That was the task.
At a few suggestions, Scarlet had pulled down their flag before they got close enough to be noticed and then they would land as though they were merchants. They didn’t have the old merchant flag they’d stolen at Mirstone, but it wouldn’t matter. Balaggan Port wasn’t too picky about who landed.
“LAND HO!” Scarlet called out to her crew, giggling the whole while. It was a fun and piratey thing to say.
Jumping into action, she pulled out the ropes that would tie their ship to the dock as they came in slowly and then they lowered the gangplank to get started on their newest adventure. Everyone had been given an equal share of their finds on their new ship and everyone likely had things they needed. After all, no one had really been able to stock in The Hallows. Before she let anyone venture out, though, Scarlet called out to them, “Everyone needs to be back here before sunset! I’m not having us lose people here again because that was awful. Everyone here is a part of my family. Keep that in mind!”
Then, making her way over to Nerissa and Limstella, Scarlet asked them if they wanted to come shopping with her. Among all of her crewmates, they were the two who seemed as though they would enjoy that the most.

Jin Flyheart
Jin could not deny the fact that he was feeling a tad bit nervous, the sudden explosion of new crew members into the Horizon Stride Pirates had caught him completely off guard, albeit this was a much welcome surprise. Whatever their circumstances were, Jin was never the type to deny one from joining him in his adventures. Their backgrounds and the like were of little importance to him, for like his father had always said, you only truly get to know what a person is like by experiencing the world with one another. Jin could not be any happier than he was now, having his 'family' as he liked to call it grown to its current size. Things were only going to get livelier now. The newest additions to the Horizon Stride pirates were a group of Pirates, formerly belonging to the 'ShatterCrest Pirate's' led by the Captain Garret Z. Allistair, though for reasons not privy to Jin, the crew had decided to split up; those no longer travelling with Garret, now finding themselves members of Jin's 'Family'.
Even before words were exchanged, Jin was well aware of the underlying potential that each and every one of them had, not necessarily the potential to fight but rather the potential to experience truly miraculous and unique adventures with and while the future of the Horizon Stride Pirates looked Grandiose, Jin also sought to delve deeper into each of their past's, to hear and learn the stories of their prior adventures.
Jin's initial impression of Jayjay was admittedly of fear, after all the man was a zombie; the walking undead. It was only natural for someone to recoil purely on instinct, however Jin quickly got over such a trivial detail, the man's sheer awkwardness and outlandish behaviour was of far more importance to Jin then what the man looked like, the energy he carried and radiated as he spoke were gifts he eagerly welcomed into his ship. His expertise as a doctor were just an added bonus.
Alex on the other hand, had taken Jin by surprise. Jin had thought himself to be a pretty good drinker, however the first night he had spent with his new crewmates had quickly put him in his place. The amount of booze that Alex had managed to drink and the way she had handled herself in the aftermath of all that alcohol had truly surprised him and if anything, it helped Jin to feel more at ease with the newest members. Jin could surmise that Alex was someone confident in herself and her abilities, a no nonsense individual that could handle most situations that came her way. No doubt, Jin knew that he could trust her to get a job done.
Ichiro on the other hand, Jin could not get a good gauge on. The man had been respectful throughout all their conversations and was clearly someone with a vast amount of experience, however Jin could not help but feel that the man held secrets. Perhaps it's the glasses he wore or simply the way he carried himself, Jin could not help but feel a tad uneasy. Though that isn't to say that Jin was suspicious of the man, after all it had only been a few days since they had all met one another, it would take varying amount of time for everyone to feel comfortable with one another.
Yukihime, was probably the second member to catch Jin's eyes' purely on her appearance alone, only falling behind JayJay. Being a young man, Jin had to admit that he found her appearance to be rather attractive, the allure of an older women also didn't help in this regard. Well mannered and polite, Jin has only begun to scratch the surface of Yukihime and like Ichiro, he suspects that she too has a web of secrets hidden behind that smile of hers.
Logan, the avid musician that like the rest had agreed to venture the grand line with Jin, was another that Jin struggled to gain any information on. The man had been very sociable during the welcoming festivities that had taken place aboard the ship, however he had also been rather tight lipped about himself, often changing the subject whenever Jin tried to pry a little. Jin paid little attention to this however, assuming his reasons for doing as such to be similar to that of Ichiro's. Not many people liked to splurge about their life story to someone they just met. All that aside, Jin did have to hand it to him; the man was a talented musician and easily someone that could have made a living solely on his ability with the Violin. Learning about his decision to sail the seven Sea's and Join a pirate crew was definitely something Jin wanted to hear about from him.
Last of the additions to the Horizon Stride Pirates was Stacy, the Shattercrest Pirates former Shipwright; her talents in such department put on display almost immediately as she organized the repair of Garret's ship. For someone so young to be that talented as well as commanding was truly impressive. Jin had seen sturdier men of experience attempt to repair ships, yet none of their work seemed to match the intricate details and care that Stacy had shown whilst she got to work. Truly, she was in her element when it came to the craft. Her talents aside though, Jin did find her to be a 'bit sharp' around the edges. Regarding her position as the shipwright, Jin could not think of anyone better for that role.
Opening his eyes and returning to the present, Jin smiled softly, tightening his grip on the wheel of the ship and inhaling deeply. The feeling of satisfaction radiated through his body as he looked beyond the hull of his ship naturally embracing the gust of wind that swept through his golden hair, the morning's breeze bringing with it a breath of fresh air. Only those that allowed them self to embrace the freedom of the high sea's were granted such a refreshing reward; the tinge of saltiness from the sea sending a tingle down his spine. The morning wonders aside, the destination that Jin presently sailed towards was the Island of Balaggan,
Balaggan; an island known for its booming trade industry. A place where the Merchants themselves were often far more fearsome and conniving then any known Pirate in the surrounding seas. It was a place frequented by many, a place where even the rarest of items could often be found on the black market. If there was something you needed, then the Island of Baraggan was a good place to start. Pub's along every street, Taverns ready and willing to turn a blind eye for a few extra pieces of gold, Brothels that welcomed any and all that dared enter. Whatever it was you were searching for, there was a good chance that someone on Balaggan would have it.
"Everyone!" he shouted, hoping that his crew mates were all awake. "Balaggan Port!, Dead Ahead and Ready to accept the Horizon Stride Pirates!"
It was a good twenty minutes or so before the Dawn Chaser found its way into one of the vacant docks at the harbor, by now the Jolly Roger of the Horizon Strides firmly hidden away from sight. Whilst the locals seemingly had no problems with pirates; provided they behaved, there was always the risk of certain greedy individuals that lurked in the shadows seeking to make a quick fortune by snitching on them to the marines.
“Alright everyone” spoke Jin, stepping down onto the main deck of their ship, his hands against his sides as he addressed those that had gathered here as well. “I don’t know how many of you have been here before, but Balaggan Island is famous for its market. You name it and it's almost guaranteed that someone here has it… or so I’ve heard..”he offered a smile, placing one hand behind his head as he did so .“There are a few items that I’d like to gather before we enter the Grand Line… things I couldn’t find back on Neogenesis.. “ he paused, turning to look over at a minor commotion that had caught his attention. From what he could see, it looked to be a group of 6 individuals squabbling among one another, three Bartenders forming a wall between a young waitress and two men; still drunk from last night’s escapades.
Jin sighed... “Guys.. let’s try not to attract any unwanted attention towards ourselves while we are here”.
Walking along the wooden dock, Jin kept his eyes fixed upon the commotion that was taking place outside the nearby pub; the name of which he could just about make out to be “The Scribbler’s Sea Stallion’, a rather fanciful name if he had to say so himself. By now, the young waitress had been brought inside the premise, clearly shaken by the whole ordeal of having two drunken men approach her. Jin could not even begin to imagine how that must have felt, however with the young lady being escorted away, the two men seemingly had little if any interest to stay any longer.
Another sigh escaped Jin’s mouth, as he pocketed both his hands into his trouser pockets. He had a clear goal of what he needed to retrieve and wanted to spend as little time as possible venturing through the market bazaar. The last time he was here, he had almost spent a small fortune on an assortment of goods that he soon found out to be utterly worthless. The merchants themselves had made it sound like he was buying a bargain, when in fact it was the clear opposite. He shuddered slightly as he thought back on it. For the few days after the whole ordeal, Jin had felt like a fool… after all the amount of detail that the merchant had put into the sale should have been enough to warn him that it would be to good to be true. Lesson learnt, Jin simply wanted this to be a quick grab and go, the less time spent in the market bazaar the better.

Cait Merlin
Being promoted to captain was a surreal experience for Cait. It seemed like a dream. Day after day, her new status as captain slowly cemented itself as she woke up in the captain's quarters every morning. The triangular captain's hat provided by Risa, the Red Wave's resident hat maker, also helped; though Cait found her usual attire of plaid bikini top, aquatic shorts, and sandals to be lacking in the pirate captain-y department. Other than adding clothes to her shopping list, there was nothing she could do about that now.
In addition to her outfit, there were two other things she wanted to change: the name of the crew and a pirate flag to go along with it. She had wrestled long and hard with the idea on keeping the Red Wave name. One argument for keeping it was to honor Sora, but as she thought about it, she figured making the crew her own would be something he would have wanted her to do as the new captain. Despite these plans for change, Cait didn't change much as a person. Her sisterly personality shined through as she gently guided the crew. Although she didn't really find herself in any situations that required her to bark orders while they were sailing to their next destination.
Still a musician at heart, Cait played her guitar after supper and sang for any crew member willing to listen. She also played in the mornings, usually for herself. It was during one such morning that Cait spotted an island in the distance. Balaggan Port, the last stop in the West Blue before entering the Grand Line. From her fisherman days, Cait knew that this island was home to many merchants. It would be a good idea to stop and restock on supplies. She could even get a more captan-y attire and a pirate flag.
"Get ready to dock, everyone!" she called out as she put her guitar back in it's case and slung the strap around her shoulder. She grabbed the railing of the Lucky Nova with one hand and pointed to the island with the other one. "Next stop, Balaggan Port!"
Shortly after the Lucky Nova docked, Cait gathered the crew together onto the deck. "This is our last stop before the Grand Line. Elijah, Marcus, and Norman, now's the last chance to restock before we enter new waters," she explained. "Feel free to do your own shopping, everyone. I have a list of my own I'm going to be focusing on. If you want to relax, that's fine too, just try not to cause any trouble and be back here by nightfall; unless you don't want to enter the Grand Line as a Tiger Shark Pirate," she added, though she figured only Syrin would take her up on the offer to leave her crew. "That's all I wanted to say. I'll catch you guys later."
Cait whistled as she walked down the gangplank and onto the solid ground that made up Balaggan Port. With shopping list in hand, she began heading off toward a cluster of shops. Written down on her shopping list were clothes, a pirate flag, and a Log Pose: an important item for sailing the Grand Line according to her mother. Cait was just a child when her mother told her that, but she knew her mother wouldn't have lied to her. In the hustle and bustle of shops, a Log Pose might be harder to come across though. "Might as well start shopping by visiting the tailor," Cait thought to herself. She already had some idea about what she wanted her captain-y attire to look like.

Balaggan Port
Balaggan Port was not necessarily a pirate island, but it was certainly rough enough to welcome those kinds of people and that was mostly because of how the merchants who lived there had learned how to sell. They weren’t exactly known to be the most honest of people because dishonesty was what sold their goods the most. . Their goods didn’t tend to be the best, either, though. Well, there are exceptions to the rule, but in general, they weren’t.
Yet, it was the last place to stop. It was the last reprieve before anyone entered the graveyard that was the Grand Line. That meant that almost everyone stopped there.
The sun rose over the horizon to the island creating quite a quaint little scene. Yet even as ships pulled in, they could hear the ruckus of the market, of people screaming out for someone to come buy their wares and of people wandering around still intoxicated from the antics of the night. There was even one particular bar close to the dock where a man was shouting, “Ye been ‘ere all night! Get yur asses ‘ome now!” Anyone who wandered over there would see that his words weren’t really working, though.
The actual market was further in and almost anything anyone could want to buy was there, though. A woman ran through the streets, ecstatic at her most recent purchase of a scarf from Blue Rose Fashion. She was waving it around everywhere and showing it off quite happily.
Beyond that, there were two potentially familiar faces wandering around… a man carrying a massive hammer over his shoulder and a woman with long silver hair who dissolved into smoke after snatching an apple. Then, of course, there was the outcry of “Thief! Thief!” No one else on the island really seemed to care. As far as the market went, it was every salesperson for themselves.
All in all, Balaggan Port was an easy place to get into trouble, and plenty of interesting persons to encounter were there.
