Name: Chuul

Aura: Sloth
Aura Resistances: N/a
Aura Immunities:
Sloth
Aura Absorption:

Aura Weakness:
Diligence
Spells & Abilities:
Hibernate
Restrictions:
Once used, this creature can not move for at least one year.
Effect:
This ability drops the Chuul into a very deep sleep as well as slows it's metabolism to such a degree, that it can not die. It's heart only beats sixty times in one year and as it sits, land accumulates over it disguising the creature underneath a camouflage of dirt and foliage.
Ambush
Restrictions:
This ability can only be used after a year of Hibernation has taken effect.
Effect:
The Chuul, having been disguised by its long period of inactivity, prepares itself for slightly more effort. It opens it's mouth and waits for prey to enter it's jaws. As its jaws are capable of opening to a 180 degree angle, it lies in a position best suited to making it's mouth appear to be part of the floor or ground. A creature that steps into its jaws must make a 1d6 roll against the reflexes of the Chuul, shown through its own 1d6 roll. However, due to the long periods of inactivity, the Chuul is slower than most creatures, and receives an inherent minus one penalty to it's roll. If the Chuul succeeds, the creature is trapped within the Chuul's jaws.
Death Roll
Restrictions:
Target creature must be affected by the effects of an Ambush from the Chuul that is using this ability.
Effects:
The Chuul allows gravity to kill it's prey, saving as much energy as it can. It simply allows one side of its body to relax the legs, and rolls across the ground. The roll forces its jaws to compress tightly. This causes the prey within its mouth to be tossed around by the force of the roll, and also either dismembered or lacerated by the closing jaws. The blood of the target begins to leak out of their body, and the Chuul enjoys its meal. Target takes 3d6 damage this round, and an additional 1d6 until healed.
Burrow
Restrictions:
A Chuul will not use this ability until after it has either succeeded on a Death Roll, or failed an Ambush.
Effects:
Upon the failure of its other abilities, the Chuul decides to not waste energy fighting for it's food, and simply burrows under the ground, hidden from all observers. It will not return to the surface for at least 3 days after using this ability.
Appearance: The Chuul, is a slovenly creature, that if one were to see it above ground, would appear to resemble Rays and other types of demersal fish. It's teeth are a sickly yellow, but razor sharp, and strong enough to easily cut through bone. Chuul are usually covered with moss and other plant life, making their true coloration difficult to discern, though most that have been studied or killed have been revealed to be a stone grey or dark brown. On rare occasions when they have been seen above ground, the underbelly of some of these creatures has been observed to be a bright blue and orange mixture. Its flexible body is filled with cartilage instead of bone, and its six legs give it an intimidating height. The eyes of a Chuul are especially haunting, as they appear to be completely white when above ground, as the pupil is uniquely suited to seeing in the dark. It's habitat is actually widely varied, and some exist in deserts, while others exist in forests. A Chuul is on average about 10 feet wide, and 30 feet long. It is only about 2 feet high, though it is able to stretch it's body to hold large prey easily. On average, a Chuul weighs in at approximately 1,740 pounds,(Approximately 800 kilograms)
Important Notes: The underbelly carries a fluid within a water sac, that allows for the storage of massive amounts of water for long periods of time with little to no evaporation occurring. Furthermore, it is recommended to simply avoid these creatures, though if one is encountered and is unavoidable, massive hemorrhaging is the only known way to kill one, as it is difficult to dismember and seems to have few, if any organs. Furthermore, the rubbery hide of the creature seems to be resistant to most slashing or bludgeoning attacks. It is recommend that one uses weapons capable of piercing, and aiming for eyes when possessing archers.
