Midnight...
The sky is oily black.
The stars are dazzling white.
The moon is sanguine red.
No one knows how this happened. One hot July night, from the night sky in the entire northern hemisphere descended a fine red mist.
Within two nights, thousands of people were found dead. Eviscerated. Ripped apart, leaving nothing more than rags, masses of torn flesh and a whole lot of blood. By the morning, the blood was gone.
Within the next few nights, hundreds of thousands were dead.
Flights to everywhere in the northern half of the planet were cancelled. Barricades were built in towns and cities. The public were urged to stay in their houses at night from nine at night until nine in the morning. Most of the population were imprisoned in their own homes by the mist. The moon had turned blood red, and the people who stayed outside were...

CHARACTER SHEET
BESTIARY
Berserker: the only playable creature. It's the only conscious mutant in the sense of it knows what it's doing. Every night if left in direct moonlight it will get extremely violent and strong, able to rip apart a human in minutes. If it tastes blood, it will feel an extremely pleasurable adrenaline rush. It looks completely human except for its eyes, which are red and goat-pupilled (when they taste blood).
Haemolupis: the mammal-like reptile genes have been unlocked by the mist, making the victim faster, more agile and more sporadic outbursts of violence.
Flitter: they have wings. What else is there to say?
Maw: small, vicious buggers. They attack in large packs, and usually Zerg their prey.
Nockjaw: the reptilian genes have been unlocked. They are slow, small, but very, very strong. Nockjaws have thick, pebbled skin than can repel a lot of attack forms, as well as wide-opening jaws and a slash-and-dash pack hunting strategy.
Tell me if I missed anything!

RULES
Standard RPnation rules apply.
Romances of all sexual orientations are allowed, just don't get kinky.
This is a MODERN DAY roleplay. Your main weapons (if you have them) are going to be guns and knives. Don't restrict yourself to those, obviously, but just be aware of your time period.
Blood and gore are most definitely allowed. By all means, go nuts, it's an RP based around blood, for God's sake. Just be wary about realistic biology. The human body contains around seven pints of blood. Keep that in mind.
This is a primarily character-driven story. As a GM, I will have minimal say in what goes on, but if you do something that I see as wrong or bad, I will notify you and I will deal with it as is fit.
I reserve the right to deny your character for reasons I see fit and to draw your attention to rule-breaking and general irritating actions. I do not, however, reserve the right to be an arsehole to you, so I will try my very best to avoid that happening.
