Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

"Hmm? Oh, no. I got what I was looking for" Mia replied. She had stuffed it into her pocket before when she had started to look for them. Didn't want to forget them this time again "How long has he been up?" She asked as she started to walk back along with him.

Tome made a sort of face like he didn't want to say. "He was up for maybe ten seconds before he decided to look for you and fell off the bed. No injuries, though. I think one of his wings is just sore." He shook his head. "After that, we spent . . . a while, looking for you."

"A while" It had been a while, huh? Besides, he had fallen off the bed. It was a good thing, though, that he hadn't got injure. On the other hand, it must have hurt "What will I do if my confident gets hurt, hmm?" She said in an affectionate tone of voice at Joachim "Then I guess everyone heard him" She'd have to apologize for that as well.

Tome made a little bit of a face again, and was happy to hide it behind a sort of worried-guilty expression for Joachim's crying. "Yes, and I believe everyone is probably going to think I hurt him somehow. Honestly. The looks they were giving me. Like I'd purposely dropped him on his head or something."

Mia made a look between guilty and amused "Did they now? He must have been crying pretty hard then" Well those women who she had heard talking before had been blaming it on him. Well she wasn't gonna tell him that though.

Tome rubbed at the side of his head a little, instinctive though he knew touching his ear wasn't going to help. "I may have temporary hearing damage for an hour or so." It was mostly light hearted, a dryly told joke, but he wasn't sure if it was true or not. Joachim had been loud. "He has a lot of volume for such a small thing."

A small chuckle escaped her lips, though it was not because of his first remark but because of the last one "Well there are a lot of things you wouldn't expect from this small thing" She stated. Clearly, he did never really stopped surprising her. Most of it, because she felt as if he developed pretty quickly.

Tome looked at Joachim and nodded a little as they walked, hands laced loosely together behind his back. "He's getting bigger every day. I wonder how soon before you won't be able to carry him anymore. And then how soon before I won't be able to." The day would come, he just didn't know how far off it would be.

Mia made a little bit of a face as if she wasn't quite looking forward to that "I wish it wouldn't be that soon though" They had only had Joachim with them a couple of days, it was not like she wanted for him to grow that quickly. Besides, she pretty much liked to carry him, like a really big baby.

Tome shrugged slightly. "I think we've got a while of carrying him around still. Just . . . We'll have to ween him off before he's too big, or he'll expect it even when he weighs more than us, I think." He wasnt sure. He'd never raised children, only taken care of one that was mostly grown.

"Will you be the one to tell this little thing 'no'?" Honestly, as long as he wanted to be carried by her, she wouldn't mind trying. Of course, if he weighted more than her, it would be quite difficult.

Tome glanced at her and frowned a little in a way that was almost a pout, unconsciously. "He . . . Well, I'm certainly not going to let him crush you." But how was he supposed to say no to those big, sad eyes? He hated when the poor little thing cried. It made him feel like he'd kicked a baby animal or something.

Mia glanced up at him and she couldn’t help it but smile a bit as his expression “Hmm I hope there’s still plenty of time until he’s able to do so. Either way if he’d like to get carried by us when we can’t, how will you stop him? I believe you’ll pamper him more than I” She commented. It was not in an accusing nor reproaching tone of voice though, more like a bit of an affectionate one. Because she believed that the way Tone seemed to treat Joachim was absolutely…. adorable.

Tome blinked, surprised, and kicked his feet a little as they walked. "I . . . I will not. . ." God, he was lying through his teeth and it didnt even sound close to believable. Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair. "I try not to spoil him. . ." He just, didnt succeed very often. He wanted Joachim to be healthy, and perhaps he was overcompensating for his own lack of knowledge.

Mia looked at him and remained silent for a few seconds. Finally, a smile was drawn on her features "I know you try" Didn't succeed as much, but she knew he tried. Of course, how could he? It was difficult not to give Joachim what he asked for.

Joachim mrred happily in Mia's arms and Tome managed a faint smile, even though he knew he was probably failing as a dragon parent. "Malia is a good teacher." He said, a note of fondness in his voice that not even he noticed. "I think we'll be able to care for him well enough."

Mia noticed in him the change of tone and she slowly looked away back at Joachim. There it was again... jealousy. A ping of jealousy. It was a faint sensation that she was getting better at pushing aside "Indeed she is" She agreed, though there was not a smile on her face anymore. Not a sad expression either, just a bit of neutral. She had to admit it, Malia was a really good teacher and a really good person as well. She wouldn't allow her self to think the contrary because of such silly feelings.

It took Tome too long to catch on, lost in his thoughts. Too long to realize she hadnt said anything and looked sort of like she usually did when he said something unendingly stupid. ". . . Is something wrong?" He asked, a little quieter, as they approached the gates of the dragonry. "Are you all right?"

Mia got lost on her own thoughts until Tome spoke up again. ". . . Is something wrong?" She was about to deny it when she realized they had already reached the Dragonry. It made her feel a bit disappointed, she had enjoyed the stroll "Are you all right?" At his next question she noticed she hadn't answer yet "Oh, yeah. Just sort of sad to be back already" Which was partly true.

Tome frowned slightly. "Did . . . Was there something else you needed to do?" Had she not finished her errand? He didn't understand why she ddint want to be here. They'd come all this way from home just to be here.

"There you are!" A cheerful call came from the gates and Tome looked up to see Malia waiting for then, a smile on her face and a rag in her hands, no doubt ridding herself of whatever mess come of her latest task. "I was beginning to worry about you, dear." She said, smiling gently at Mia. "Joachim was worried too, it seems." She laughed softly. "I hope he didnt disturb you two too much."

"No, I just-" But Mia was cut off before finishing her sentence when Malia spoke. Looking to the front, Mia couldn't help it but smile back at the woman. "Joachim was worried too, it seems." Shaking her head a bit, a sigh left her lips "I know. I'm sorry about that. I didn't know he'd cause such an uproar" She apologized.

Malia shook her head and just walked forward to meet them, smiling gently. "It's all right, children. Everyone here is used to our little guests making noise. I'm sure it's not a bother. We just have to remember that even though he's going to be a large, powerful creature one day, right now he's still just a baby, and needs to be coddled more than you'd think. I'm sure he was just worried about you." She stopped next to them, putting a hand on Mia,s shoulr rather than on Joachim. "He was abandoned as an egg, so even if he doesn't actively remember it, he may have some attachment issues as he matures. It will all be all right. Don't you worry."

((Night!))

Malia's word were comforting. And for a moment there, she even felt guilty for having been jealous of her. Of course Tome'd like her, she was a really fine lady. "Thank you" She said with a somewhat small and shy smile. Having gone there, had been indeed the best decision they could have made.

(G'Night ^^)

Malia nodded, smiled and ushered her along, giving Tome's arm a little pat to get him to come with them as well. "Let's get him back inside and see about supper, shall we?" There was something that felt almost . . . familiar about it, the way she touched him, and the way she spoke, but he couldn't place it. He shook it off and just followed, watching Joachim start to cheer up as they got back into the dragonry. The little dragon always found it entertaining to watch the bigger dragons moving around.

Mia was glad to see that Joachim was cheering up as they entered the dragonry. She had never really seen him so upset before and it made her guilty as well as sad that she had been the cause to it. Truly, she'd have to be much careful with her actions from then on.
