Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

Mia slowly pulled her arms away when he stopped. A bit reluctantly though, if only because even if she was the one hugging him, she herself felt comfort on it as well. She scooted back a little with the help of only her left hand and scrambled to her feet "I bet your throat must feel a bit dry" She said, funnily enough her voice still didn't raised from just a whisper. "I brought you tea, but it may be cold by now" She picked it up from the floor. There was no need for her to say anything more about his loss, surely he wouldn't like it "I'll reheat it".

Tome wanted to tell her to stop, that he didn't care if it was warmed up or not, but he let her go and just tried to collect himself. He rolled backwards onto the floor after she'd walked out, an arm over his eyes as he tried to calm down, and he knew he must look a wreck. He didn't care too much, but he still had those preconceived notions of being strong, of not showing weakness. He just . . . didn't care so much about it anymore. He felt like he'd gone days without sleeping or eating, like back in the castle dungeons, without ever having been touched. He ached all over and wanted nothing more than to crawl into a dark hole and never come out. But he was stuck here, lost and left alive to deal with it. He wasn't quite sure he preferred that over the alternative.

A couple of minutes later, Mia was pouring the hot tea on the mug once again. She felt... Tired. Ah, so, so worn out. She absently reached for the mug with her right hand as she was already turning on her heels to walk out the kitchen, it simply just slipped from her fingers. The mug fell to the floor with a loud shattering noise and Mia blinked, her gaze falling on her hand. It had just... numbed. She tried to move her fingertips but flinched as she felt a sharp pain that was formed on her wrist and spread to her whole hand. Perhaps, she had made it worse by not giving that hand the proper rest it needed to heal on its own.

A low and exasperated sigh escaped her pursed together lips and she slowly bended down to pick up the porcelain pieces. She was such an idiot. Tears streamed down her cheeks when she cut her finger lightly with one of the broken pieces and she pulled it back, holding it against her chest. It hurt... It hurt so much. A whimper made its way out of her mouth as she held her hand tighter to herself.

It's okay, it's okay. She told herself, she could keep it together. She could right? Slowly, really slowly, she let go of her hand and reached out for yet another piece, her hand shaking a bit.

((I'll reply in the morning, sorry -_- Been trying to type up bios and am really sleepy. Night))
Tome tensed when he heard the crash from the kitchen, but for too long didnt even attempt getting up. Bt the instincts he'd learned over the years hadnt just disappeared with Fawn's death, and he immediately began picturing injuries and what he needed to do to heal them. He got up, wobbling a bit on his feet before righting himself, and made his way out of the room.

He could hear the faint whimpering from below as he moved quietly down the stairs, and Mia's back was to him when he reached the kitchen, tea and broken pottery on the floor. He walked up behind her, sunk silently to his knees, and wrapped his arms around her from behind, a hand coming around to slip gently beneath hers, to support it and keep her from using it anymore. He could almost feel the pain radiating from her wrist, and whispered a few quiet, elvish words into her hair until his hand began to glow. He wrapped his fingers around her wrist, knowing the healing spell would keep it from hurting, and did his best to soothe away her hurts.

He was exhausted and magic didnt help, but she was all he had left, now. It was the least he could do.

Mia had felt as if she couldn't stop her tears and had even felt like she was suffocating as she did her best to stop the sobs from escaping her lips. She had been so immersed on her own little world, which now consisted solely of the broken porcelain and her crying, that she had nearly let out a yelp when she felt an unexpected body against hers. Her whole body stiffened and she threw a glance back over her shoulder, eyes wide.

When her eyes met with Tome's pair of ones, though shocking, she felt herself relaxing as an undeniable warm feeling flooded her heart. She heard his voice practically against her ear and she couldn't help it but shiver a little, though perhaps it had been because of how the pain on her wrist vanished as he spoke. She sighed with relief and she could already feel how everything around her was just disappearing. Her eyes slowly closed and once the pain was gone she gave in to the tiredness, going limp as everything turned black.

These sorts of actions were automatic, borne out of years of practice. He picked her up, carried her to her room, and got her under the covers without waking her. When she was settled comfortably, he went down and threw away the pieces, cleaned the floor and put everything away. After that, he went back up to her, laid down at the side of her bed and curled into a ball with his eyes closed. He wouldn't have thought crying was so exhausting until it happened, but after the wear of the last few days, the last week, he managed to fall into a sleep too deep to be fitful.

"Mmm" Mia complained quietly as the first sun ray fell directly on her closed eyelids. The first? No... It was not the first. She blinked once, twice, before rolling on her side and glancing up at her room's window. That was not early morning sunlight, that was for sure. What time was it? She covered her mouth with one of her hands to hide a yawn as she used the other to help herself to get into a sitting position. The previous days memories were rather hasty and hence she couldn't even remember how had she even gotten into her room.

She noiselessly slid her legs to the bed's edge before holding back a surprised gasp. What was he doing there? Her brows scrunched together while she pursed her lips together, it wouldn't do him any good if he was not to sleep on a bed. She reached for him, leaning over a bit, but before her fingertips could even brush against his body she froze on her place. At least he was finally sleeping. With a shake of her head, she pulled the covers off her bed and tossed them gently over him so as not to wake him up.

Silently, she planted her feet on the floor, before walking out of the room. Now that she was finally awake, she highly doubted she could drift back to sleep, much less when he was there as well. In a quiet manner, she made her way all the way down to the first floor and headed to the kitchen. She twisted the sink handle a bit and used the small amount of water to wash her face.

Tome woke still curled on the floor, feeling not quite as tired but still like he hadn't gotten a proper rest in weeks. His head was pounding and his muscles were sore, and he realized he felt warm when he saw the blanket at the corner of his vision. He got carefully up, folded it as best he could with fuzzy vision, and walked out. After walking straight into a door frame, he made his way into the bathroom to take a bath, rather than a shower, hoping to heal his aches. He'd heard Mia downstairs, and he remembered healing her, so he didn't feel the need to check on her yet.

Mia raised her eyebrow when she heard the familiar low and faint sound of running water. She raised her head and glanced up at the ceiling. Oh, she had kinda wished he had rested a bit longer. She stretched her stiff muscles a bit and walked out of the kitchen. As she set foot on the sitting room, her eyes inevitably fell on the piano that stood there and she stared at it in awe. Would he mind...? He had once told her he wouldn't mind as long as Fawn was awake. Mia placed her hand absently on top of her chest at the thought... Fawn...

She dragged her feet to the bench and slowly sat down, breathing in softly before letting out the air in a long sigh. Gently, she raised the fallboard and placed her fingers on top of the over so cool and smooth keys. Before she even realized it, her hands were already pressing against them, allowing her to play to melody she knew by heart.

(It's something like this ^^)

((It's so pretty O_O And sad. But pretty!))

Tome was just lowering himself into the near-scalding hot water when he heard the first few notes of the piano from below. He sat still in the water and listened, until the final notes faded away and he felt almost like crying again because Fawn had always loved the piano, even if she'd never been able to play for herself. The sound faded, and he lowered himself into the water so that it covered him entirely, until the memory of the music played in his mind as just his heartbeat filled the water around him. There was a whole left in his heart that would never be filled, but here it still beat and was strong, and he would keep living as he had, only with everything changed. With the ground pulled out from beneath him, he would fall. But eventually he would hit the bottom, he knew, and he would heal his wounds and carry on. Just like he always had. Perhaps his horrid life had prepared him for this day, when his heart would be stolen from him by the greedy hands of darkness. Perhaps. Perhaps.

(I couldn't help it but imagine Tome there so sad because he thought of Fawn :( Lol I always imagine all of these things so anime like, can't help it ^^ Uh oh! Speaking about anime today my dad got me Sakura's staff in dormant form, I was so happy! xD )

Mia lowered her face a little when she was done playing. The melody still resonated on her ears... on her heart and it frankly overwhelmed her. When the coldness of the piano's keys brushed against her forehead she let out a sigh and her fingers curled into loose fists on top of them. Everyone dealt with their own portion of sadness on their own way. She thought of Fawn, of course, but most of all she thought of her mother.

When Mia was little, her mom had tried to taught her million of melodies. Unfortunately, that was the only one she could recall. It was so... sad, because it had been the sole melody her mother had played over and over again once she found out Elliot was sick and they were too poor to even get him some medicine. Yeah, Mia could remember that clearly. The tears staining her poor mother's pale and sickly face, the shaky fingers dancing over the keys as they always did. It broke her heart. It broke both of their hearts.

Now, Mia didn't know if she was to feel happy about having playing it or not. Because apart from her own face on the mirror, it was the only memento she had left from her.

((Ooooooooo O.o Cool!))

Tome stayed in the bath water long after it had gone cold, until the point that he was nearly shivering when he got out. He stumbled, feeling almost numb, and fell briefly before picking himself up and drying off. He stepped out when he'd dressed and shuddered at the cold that still lingered in his very bones, walking to his own bedroom and just flopping down on top of the blankets. He laid there on his stomach, head turned a bit to see out the window, and wondered if he should just keep sleeping. Maybe it would hurt less if he slept until he didn't wake up again.

Mia stayed still on that same position before she was fed up with it. She sat back straight and pushed herself up from the bench. She'd make breakfast. Yeah, that would be enough for now. Or lunch... Well whichever but she was going to cook something. In a quick pace she headed to the kitchen and though she didn't really know what to cook at the beginning she decided to go with a stew. It didn't take her long and when she was almost done with it she could've swear she heard the bathroom's door opening and closing, if only because the house was so quiet that it allowed that.

He needed to eat something as well. She pulled out a plate and served the food. With that done, she carefully made her way upstairs and quietly, she stood by Tome's door. "Here's some food" She declared.

Tome stayed still for too long. Still, after a long moment, he shivered slightly and pushed himself slowly up into a sit. Slower still, he turned enough to look at her, mourning the loss of the warm spot his body heat had begun to make on the bed. He felt cold again already. "Okay." He said finally, his voice a slightly croaky whisper from disuse, and when she came forward and handed him the plate he took it one handed. The other reached out for her and gripped gently at her wrist. ". . . Stay?" If she wouldn't stay here with him, he could go with her. Somehow, he didn't much feel like being alone anymore. It felt so empty without at least the sound of someone breathing nearby.

Mia's eyes widened when he grasped her wrist and she had to fight the impulse to pull back her hand at his touch. His hand was just so cold! Her gaze went up from his hand to his eyes, his question finally reaching her brain, and she slowly nodded. She pulled her hand back gently to pull on Tome's bed sheets and used them to cover his body, rubbing his arms lightly as she did so "I'll stay, you eat that. Maybe it'll help to warm you up as well"

Tome let her go when she pulled away, and sat patiently even though he cringed a little when she started rubbing at his arms. It did help a bit, having her warmth close, and when she'd stopped moving so much he nodded and obeyed, beginning to eat slowly. It was only once he had a little food in his stomach that he realized he'd been hungry, and he decided that he should probably eat more regularly now. Deep down, he knew Fawn wouldn't want him to die, especially not for her.

Mia didn't bother to hold back a satisfied smile and she let herself fall down on the room's floor with a low thud. It was enough for her it Tome ate. She brushed her hair absently with her hands as she patiently waited for him to finish, sort of hoping for him to allow her to get him a bit more if he wanted to. As she raked her hands across her light colored hair she raised it in front of her, maybe she should cut it soon? She tilted her head to the side as she opened her hand and let her hair fall back down, looking up at the man in front of her "Would you like something to drink?" She asked.

Lost in thought - or at least, lost in trying not to think - it took Tome a few seconds to finally register that she'd spoken. He glanced at the plate in his lap, saw just a little bit of food left, and nodded. "I can get it." He said, because he instinctively didn't think of being taken care of, and wobbled a bit to his feet. He needed to move now or he felt he would never move ever again. He couldn't just keep laying around. He had to find something to do.
((Going to bed now. Night :) ))

Mia had automatically scrambled to her feet when she saw Tome wobbling but fortunately stopped herself from grabbing him. She couldn't help it. Well that was a good thing, he really did needed to move around a little. "I'll go with you" She stated as she took a step forward "I left my food downstairs" She added.

(Night! Sleep well ^^)

Tome looked at her, briefly, then finally just nodded and started to walk. The stairs were more difficult, and he held the plate carefully so it wouldn't spill since he doubted his own balance. Once downstairs, he got a cup from the cabinets, and just filled it with water, then stood leaning against a counter to drink it. When Mia followed, he just tracked her with his eyes. ". . . Thank you."

"Don't mention it" Mia declared as she stood on her tiptoes to reach a clean plate. Setting the plate on the counter, she served herself a bit, not really a lot, if only because her stomach felt rather weird and she doubted she could get much food inside. The lack of a determined amount of food sometimes caused her to feel like that "Would you like more?" She asked as she threw him a glance over her shoulder.

(Oh lord! Look what I found! Couldn't help it but think of Fawn! ^w^)

((Oh god the emotion >_<,))

Tome glanced at the food and considered, then just shrugged. "I might as well." He knew he needed it, even if he wasnt hungry. He couldn't say he was just waiting for Fawn anymore. He was going to have to take better care of himself. He only had Mia to worry about now. He'd have to take care of her too, soon enough.

Mia smiled a bit and nodded. She reached for his plate and gave it back to him when he was done serving. She then picked up a spoon for herself and sat down on the table. "Would you mind if I go to town tomorrow? I think there are some things that need to be bought" She leaned her head on top of her palm as she glanced at him.

Tome ate slowly but was grateful for the warmth of the food, even if it wasnt quite so hot as when he'd first started. He blinked when she spoke and looked at her again. ". . . Ill go with you." He didn't like the thought of her being alone anywhere, somehow. She was all he and left to hold on to, and he hadnt even realized he was holding on before.

Mia raised her eyebrow "... Ok" Funny, she had sworn he didn't like to have her around. "Thanks" She smiled politely and was soon done with the share she had ate of her stew. She stood and washed her plate. Well, it was always nice to have company, she didn't have to feel as lonely. Though the whole thing was new to her.
