Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

((It's cool. I worked))

Tome hung out the window for much too long, shell-shocked, before it registered what Mia said and he pulled back inside so fast he hit his head against the window on the way. It didn't matter. It was an insignificant pain. He looked at her and fought the urge to just walk over and grab her, shake her and demand answers. "Where?" He growled instead, fingers curled so tight he was almost drawing blood from his palms. "Explain it to me." He would find her. If there was some tiny, infinitesimal way to find her, he would do it.

"I-I dont' know" She stammered, quite taken aback by his growl for a moment. She shook her head, there was no time for that "I mean, I'm not even sure if it is the same... 'thing' " She tightened the grip around her arms, digging her fingers into her flesh before she looked aside, quite altered "But I know someone who I think would be able to give you some answers"

Tome glared at her for a long moment, rage and fear and pain and loss twisting and burning together inside him. He snapped out of it, finally, and stalked past her towards his own bedroom, pulling off his nightclothes as he went and just tossing them on the ground because he couldn't be bothered with putting them away. "Walk and explain it to me." He demanded, even as he pulled out new clothes and pulled them on. He would pack one small bag with a few things, strap enough weapons to himself to take down an army, and they would leave.

"A couple of years before there was some similar things going on a village. Kids disappeared or something like that. I'm sorry Tome, but I myself don't remember about it much. I just happen to know a man who lives on that place" She explained as she followed him. It was true, she had heard some stories like that when she dropped by that village years before, right now, she just knew one man that lived there, it was the only thing she could give him right now.

Tome gave a frustrated sound, and the noise that followed was his fist breaking through a wall. He shook his head, threw a bag onto the bed, and started gathering his knifes and their holsters. "Get dressed." He barked. "Wherever this man is, we're finding him, and we're leaving. Now." If she would hurry the hell up, they could be on the road in less than an hour. Every second counted.

Mia's brows furrowed and she huffed. Now he was just being rude. Nevertheless, if she did fight back things wouldn't really work and... Ugh! He was the one who asked her to explain to begin with! If it wasn't for Fawn... she turned on her heels and rushed to her room. What was there to pack anyway? She just changed her clothes and shoved some other she still had there inside a backpack she had happened to find. She didn't even take long.

By the time Mia was ready, Tome was done packing and already waiting in the hall for her. He was armed to the teeth and looked ready for war. A pack of throwing knives was strapped to one hip, two swords at the other, a dagger strapped to his left thigh, and at his feet he had quiver of arrows. He was pulling on a cloak as she exited her room, flipping the hood up over his head and slinging his back over his shoulder, quiver in place on his back and bow in hand. He hardly spared her a glance before turning to walk down the stairs. "Let's go."

Mia narrowed her eyes but again she kept her mouth shut. He's dead worried, he's dead worried She told herself as she walked down the stairs "The village is called Ladavia. We'll have to head west from our current position" She explained. He would surely had demanded her that information rudely soon, it was better ofr her to give it now.

Tome nodded, wordlessly, as he shoved out the front door and just kept walking, heading towards the closest town for a horse or two. He had enough silver with him for it, purposefully, and it was going to be a thirty minute walk just to get there so there was no time for slowing down. "Then we'll head west." He said, and didn't say anything afterwards. He had a direction to go in now, a place to chase his sister to. All that mattered was getting her back. If he had to run himself ragged to do it, he would, without hesitation.

Mia nodded and just followed him close behind, though at times it was not really easy to keep up with his pace. Thanks God, she had recovered by now and she was able to move freely like that. She brushed her hair off her face as her eyes lowered to the ground, to her and Tome's feet. Honestly, she would never have imagined that there would come a day she would willingly go into that town again.

They walked at a quick pace and silently until they reached the city, and when they had Tome didn't enter it very far. The first farm on the fringes of the city that had a good number of hours, he picked out two of the strongest and paid the owners handsomely for them because they hadn't been for sale in the first place, but no one of their meager means could say no to that much silver for just two horses. When the horses were saddled, Tome swung up onto one and looked over at Mia. "Can you keep up?" He wasn't sure if she knew how to ride very well or not.

"I'd say so" It had been a long time since she had rode a horse, well at least on her own. She used to be pretty good at it though, she could grant herself that. She placed her left foot into the stirrup, held the saddle, bounced gently in the stirrup and effortlessly swung her right leg over the horse, sitting down in the saddle. She then took the reins with both of her hands before squeezing the horse with her calves to move forward.

Tome only nodded, acknowledging that she at least seemed practiced at the motions of it, and eased his horse into a walk. When they were clear of the city, he pushed them slowly faster and faster until they were at an all out run. He would continue that way until the horses tired, then get off and walk a while, feed them so they could recover, and begin the process all over again. They would hardly be stopping to sleep.

Mia smiled at the mild - relatively strong - wind that blew against her face as they rode. It didn't even left time to speak, not that she would engage in a conversation in that kind of situation, even less considering her partner. As they speeded up, she dropped her rains down a little and leaned forward a bit, feeling how her horse seemed to react to her position and lope, if possible, faster.

They rode and walked for most of the day, and though Tome wanted to press on, he knew that Mia was growing tired. She'd recovered from her injuries, but he knew that she wasn't as strong as he was, and wasn't as used to pushing oneself beyond limits so much, so he forced himself to stop. They had reached a small town, and he took the horses to a stable and Mia to an inn. They could sleep a while, then leave again.

Mia threw herself on the bed as soon as she stepped into the room. Ah... What a day. Though if she was feeling like that, she couldn't even imagine how would Tome be feeling at the moment. If something like that had happened to Elliot she... Well let's say it wouldn't have been pretty. She clenched her hands a bit before a sigh escaped her parted lips.

While Mia flopped onto the bed, Tome started taking off his weapons. He left the swords, throwing knives, bow and quiver on the floor and just kept his dagger, walking back to the door as soon as he'd set everything down. "I'll see what I can do about supplies," He said, toneless and expressionless while he opened the door. "Sleep while you can." He doubted he would sleep much at all this night. He had work to do, and very possibly liquor to drink.

Mia blinked and pushed herself up with her hands, looking at Tome "Do you need any help?" She asked, slipping her legs to the side as she straightened in a sit up position. Unfortunately, with Tome, Mia never knew if he would accept her help at all.

Tome paused, briefly, and shook his head. "Just sleep. We'll be riding hard until we get there, and you'll need your rest." He left after that, and went searching for any place that was still open where he could gather supplies for them, and even a few places that weren't. He was still debating on the liquor as he searched, and wondering if it was actually worth it.

Mia sighed a bit as she laid down again, her face facing the pillow. She was not that weak, was she? She could go on without sleeping at least a day or two. She shook her head and pushed herself into a sitting position again. The window on her room faced the street and she decided to peek out her head for a moment before going to sleep. She smiled at the cool and refreshing breeze that just seemed to caress her face as she leaned her chin on top of the window's frame. Would she be able to see Tome from there? She guessed he had gone out right?

In the end, Tome did end up finding the bar nearest the inn and storing the supplies he'd gotten in the shadowed space between two buildings to be retrieved later. There weren't many people in the bar, as it was rather late, so he got to sit in silence and just start drinking, until his vision blurred a little and he felt almost like he could stop thinking. If he got himself drunk enough, perhaps he actually would.

In the distance, Mia had swore she had seen Tome entering a rather small building. She tilted her head to the side a little when she noticed what it was and a sigh escaped her. To drown the pain on alcohol really seemed to be things people liked to do. No... Not really liked to do, but she had heard some say that sometimes they just felt they didn't have any other option. She waited a bit for him to come out, her eyes glued on the bar doors. Her sleepiness seemed to disappear each minute that went by as a growing anxiousness replaced it. After a while, she finally pushed herself from the window, brows furrowed, and she made her way to the door. He couldn't be serious!

((Sorry, had to go pick up dry cleaning and then cook dinner))

Tome's empty glasses had been taken away to wash as he went on, but he could still keep track of how many drinks he'd had while slowly getting himself plastered. He'd just asked for the strongest thing they had, and though it wasn't quite as strong as he'd expected - something to do with his mixed blood gave him a high tolerance - he was well past bussed when on his fourth tall glass. He didn't really intend to stop. Hopefully he would remember where he'd left the supplies in the morning.
