For as long as mankind can remember, there have been rumours of wild beasts that lurk deep within the forests. Creatures that bare fangs as long as branches and claws as sharp as blades, each and every family tells the tales differently but they all share the same realisation. That these beasts are things of legend and not reality. Or are they?
Be it a blessing or a curse, the blood of wolves runs through your veins. It's time to ask yourself... Who are you?
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Blessing of the Moon is a fantasy slice of life roleplay which involves the supernatural and mystical. There is plenty of lore to sink your fangs into and please feel free to give it a read. The premise of this roleplay is similar to most werewolf fiction in that there are rival packs in the world as well as many external enemies your characters will have to face. This particular roleplay includes gods, humans and werewolves alike, all out to cause mayhem for you and your character.
Each pack has different relationships with humans and the world outside their commune. You can find information about each pack and their traditions further down the page. You can also find the available ranks here and see your fellow pack mates. These will be updated as characters are accepted.
Some of your characters will receive a blessing from the gods and this will grant them powers. Only a limited amount of characters will be granted this power and it is chosen at random once they have been approved. We'll be using a generator to choose these so it's completely fair. When filling out your character sheet, put the power that your character would have if they were to be chosen. If you don't want your character to have a power, that is totally fine and you can just remove that section of the form. Blessings may also occur throughout the RP so if your character isn't chosen now, they may be chosen later.
The setting is modern and so technology is available to use. This includes transport such as cars and wonders like the great world wide web. The universe itself is loosely connected to ours but current events won't play a part here. Yes, that means no coronavirus or US election nonsense. This is a safe space. Make sure you read the rules before applying as they are important and breaking these rules will have consequences. As usual, ensure that you are following the RPN rules.
Now, onto the good stuff! If you have any questions about the roleplay, rules or character creation, drop it down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Power:
When creating a power, make sure that it has a weakness so that it's balanced. For example: Invisibility - but it only lasts for a certain length of time or while
certain conditions are met. If you're not sure what to put, feel free to use the examples or ask me.- Powers are only for those chosen, but add what your character would have if they are blessed by the moon.
Click here for lots of different examples.
Remember that all powers must have limitations to them. Also, when choosing a power, avoid god-like powers that might make your character invincible.
There are numerous Gods in this universe, much like there are in our own. Every god from all pantheons in existence are present but there are five important deities involved in the creation of werewolves.
Hala
Hala is the goddess of the moon. She is the head of the Nature Gods and holds the most power out of the four. Her love of nature and preservation is as strong as her light but rarely does she interfere unless she has to. She is one of the mothers of the Star Child who saves nature during the Great War. Hala and Atlanta are wives and you can often find tributes made to them together.
Atlanta
Atlanta, also known as the Huntress, is the goddess of the Hunt. A valiant warrior who made it into the stars by the will of her wife, Hala. Her domain covers much of the wolves day to day life and protects the balance of life for plants and animals. People and wolves may pray to her when looking to have success on hunting trips or when they want to succeed in competition.
Flora
Flora is the god of plant life and designed each flora that grows and lives within the forests. He has a flamboyant personality and often wonders the forests talking to plant life and gardens in villages.
Fauna
Fauna, the oldest of the forest twins, is responsible for the design of all animals that live within the forests. He is playful like his brother but has a maturity that his twin lacks.
Kali
Kali is an anomaly in the universe. She holds the power to create and destroy all of reality and yet does not interfere with mortal life. She helped in granting the creation of the Star Child, unbeknownst to Atlanta.
The creation of werewolves occurred over a thousand years ago, when the first war between nature and man began bubbling below the surface. The five gods of nature agreed that the wilderness needed protecting. They created 5 guardians that were in tune with each element and combined would be able to defend every living thing. These colossal form-shifters were powerful in their elements of earth, air, fire, water and metal. They were made from the very fabric of reality and unpredictable. And so, the gods needed a mediator, someone who could watch over both man and nature. This resulted in the creation of a sixth element, the Ether.
After centuries, it seemed that the Guardians had done their job. Both nature and man were thriving and balance appeared to be restored. The Guardians were able to relax and some spent time learning about people and their customs; some even developed relationships. Despite the Ether's warnings, the inevitable happened. A Guardian and a human conceived and the first werewolf was born. It was a child with immense power, directly connected to it's paternal element as well as baring the blood of a wolf. It wasn't long before more of these children were born and the world began to notice. Outrage amongst humanity erupted and the war that had been prophesised finally arrived.- After the discovery of werewolves exploded across the nations, tensions rose and the Great War broke out. For years, humans hunted wolves and wolves pillaged towns. There was unrest all over. The founding five packs had established themselves and each alpha had their own stance on what to do. The Ironclaw and the Dawnguard fought side by side on the front lines, neither taking prisoners as they destroyed hundreds of homes. The Rivercrest wolves dried up the wells and prevented ships from taking the humans to safety. The Briarwoods were unable to contribute to the war, they risked losing their already precious members and begged their great ancestors to give them to strength to join the fight. This resulted in the gods interfering and blessing those in the Briarwood pack. This not only fueled the war but meant that the other packs became resentful of the new power the Briarwood wolves now had.
With the world seemingly descending into pure destruction, the gods decided to interfere once again. Hala and Atlanta used their combined love to create a being that would be able to bring the massacres to an end. The Star Child was formed from love and star dust, and sent down to the battlefield to stop the fighting. They tried peaceful methods, calling the leaders of each group to discuss their issues. This included the great guardians that had started the whole thing. However the discussions quickly became hostile and all sides tore into each other.
It seemed nothing would protect the humans or wolves from themselves, so something drastic had to be done. Gathering all their strength, the Star Child rose above the land, dark clouds swarming around their celestial form. In a thundering crack of lightning, an epic surge of power consumed the memories of all around. The memories of man and wolf were wiped and replaced with legends and bed time stories to keep them from recalling the horrific massacres.
After the events of that day, peace was restored to the world. But at a cost. The Star Child had disintegrated into nothing but star dust, returning to the fabric of reality where they had been formed.
The Starlight Spirits are aids of the Star Child. These mischievous sprites appear throughout the forests and cause either blessings or tricks. Spotting one of these beings is a sign that the gods are watching you or you have caused a shift in the balance of nature. It could also be that you have been chosen as the next play thing for these playful wanderers.
Some believe that when the Star Child is due to return to the mortal realm, the Starlight Spirits will meet at the heart of Odin's Beard where their creator will rise again.
Alpha
Alphas are the head of the pack and the ones with the most responsibility. Although they are not required to hunt with the pack, most normally do. It is expected that all members of the pack respect their alphas and follow the orders set by them. Alphas are in the position to exile, banish or even kill those who break the laws or act against the best interest of the pack.
Becoming an alpha can be done through two streams: being promoted from beta after the death of an alpha or by challenging one. A challenge is a very formal event and is either to the death or surrender. The surrendering wolf is then exiled from the pack. Some alphas don't follow this tradition so it varies from pack to pack.
Some alphas have mates but this isn't a requirement as breeding pairs can be any rank. Additionally, alphas can be male or female depending on each pack.
Beta
The beta is the second in command and enforces the law when the current alpha is not present. Betas fill in the role of alpha when the existing one passes away. Betas act as a consultant to the alpha, providing recommendations and counsel. With each new alpha, new betas are appointed and while the new betas are typically chosen by the current alpha, this choice can be contested. A pack meeting can be called where wolves may nominate a candidate. These candidates will be voted on by the upper ranking wolves: lead enforcer, lead scout and finally the alpha.
Enforcers
These wolves are the muscles of the pack. They are responsible for guarding the vulnerable or their alphas during inter-pack meetings. Handpicked by the alpha, these wolves must prove their strength through trials and athleticism. It is a true sign of strength to be enrolled into this group.
Lead Enforcer
Wolves in this role have higher skill levels or qualities that make them better qualified to lead the enforcers. These skills might be in strength or strategy which make them an asset in combat and defence. Lead enforcers are promoted from the role of enforcer and must have served time in this role before moving up. The lead enforcer is responsible for the safety of the alpha and must protect them at all costs. They are also expected to lead training for prospecting wolves that have potential to join the enforcers. The lead enforcer will ensure their underlings are trained correctly to safeguard the pack. Some lead enforcers take their job of protecting the pack to the extreme and use their authority and strength to keep pack members in line, in some cases against the will of their alpha.
Scouts
A wolf's duty as a scout is to patrol and assess the lands surrounding their packs residential area for any possible threats, typically working in rotations. They are responsible for tracking the herd migrations and other patterns of outsiders to assist with various activities; such as a hunt or move.
Lead Scout
The lead scout recruits and trains potential scouts. They report directly to the alpha - like the lead enforcer - and are typically present during pack meetings among the upper ranks. They relay any important information gathered by their troops and ensure that all tracing is up to date.
Healers
Healers are the medical branch of the pack, using their skills and knowledge of many different forms of medical practices. Although typically using herbal remedies, the wolves of today have access to modern medicine and machinery. Their responsibilities range from making sure a cut will not get infected, to delivering pups, and even life-saving procedures. Healers are vital to a pack as wolves are unable to visit human hospitals for risk of exposure.
Nurses
Nurse wolves are primarily responsible for the upbringing and education of the pups in their pack. Sometimes referred to as "Den Mothers", these wolves act as nursery works and school teachers. They can also be called to aid a healer in the delivery of new-born pups.
Pups
Pups are the offspring of wolves. They age much like humans but are far stronger physically. A female wolf carries for an average of 9 months, like humans, and a sign of pregnancy is the lack of ability to shift. The further along in their cycle, the less they are able to change forms. The likelihood of multiples is much higher in werewolves but not guaranteed. Although it is rare, the offspring of a wolf may not share their parents blood. This chance is higher in those who have a human parent. Most pups will have their first transformation after their first full moon cycle. This means it is possible to confirm if the child has wolf's blood after 29 days since their birth. This isn't a concrete rule but has proved accurate for most full-blooded wolves.
Omegas
Omegas are the lowest ranking of the pack. Typically the sick, elderly or otherwise vulnerable, these wolves tend to socialise within their own rank. While the rank of an omega is always the same, their treatment varies from pack to pack. Some packs strive to protect their weaker units, acknowledging their role in the circle of life. While others may view them as weak and a burden to the pack. In packs such as this, it's not unlikely to see a wolf demoted to omega simply for displeasing the alpha.
These wolves live in one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. They own the whole building but reside in the top half while renting the lower floors to humans. As a group that integrate well with humans, it's no surprise they run the Breezy Briar club and lounge under the tower. They have contact with the other packs except for Ironclaw since the two have a long history of not getting along. Wolves in this pack are usually in agreement that humans and wolves are all part of the same circle of life and neither one is better or worse than the other.

The wolves of the Rivercrest pack prefer the quiet life in the portside town of Laketon, about an hour's drive from the main city. They keep to themselves but engage with the locals. They run a small fishery which delivers to the restaurants in the port town and some in the city. Similar to the Dawnguard's, those in Rivercrest do their best to respect the balance of nature and avoid confrontation with humans or other packs. Since the town is fairly small, some of the wolves have emerged as members of the human society. This is done against the will of some of the older wolves who fear that getting involved with humans will reveal their true identities.

The Dawnguard are considered the strongest pack out of the founding five. They put their strength to good use and work as mercenaries for the surrounding cities. Some work as body-guards for some of the richest CEOs in the city as they are some of the only people who can afford their high fees. Although not as friendly with humans as the Galestorms, these wolves respect the balance between wolf and man. Their base is located out in the desert away from prying eyes as outsiders find the heat difficult to handle. They're the most protective wolves and are considered vigilant and defensive.

The Ironclaws have the most extreme view on the balance between humans and werewolves. They believe themselves to be superior to humans and anyone else that works with them. Rarely have they gotten along with the other packs but they have an understanding with the Dawnguards and Briarwoods. These wolves are based in an abandoned warehouse just outside the city and heavily guard their territory. Despite being the most violent of the founding five, not all Ironclaws are ruthless. Some are secretive and have a knack for keeping their shady dealings hidden.

The Briarwood Pack live well away from civilisation in the deep forests in the east. The hundreds of acres of trees are commonly referred to as Odin's Beard and the Briarwood wolves tend to the forest as their great ancestors have done for hundreds of years. The wolves in this pack are deeply connected to the spirits of old and have the strongest bond to the gods. They are able to channel their connection to their guardian ancestors and embrace the chaotic nature of the Starlight Spirits.
