That one thing from the other day
cs page

1. please ask before making a captain in order to prevent confusion. you may do so in the occ or directly messaging me, odds are if the captain for the desired company isnt taken already you will get to play them.

2. fairness in bleach is kinda hard to come by, so ill be asking that you dont make a character with the intention of being unbeatable. everyone has strengths and weaknesses and certain people will have disadvantages or advantages against your character. Dont let this discourage you if your character cannot win the current situation then odds are one of your allies will have an advantage.

3. craziness and insanity are always welcome in a story like this however you must be functional enough to work with others as teamwork will be very important given the previous rule. you must also be sane enough that the gotei 13 and the central 46 must be able to justify your being given the skills and abilities of a soul reaper...after aizen they are a lot more careful even if the recruitment was rushed

4.these expectations are not hard set rules and certain stretches can be applied. if you feel like your character idea is a stretch consult me and i can confirm or deny the idea based upon the aforementioned expectations and my personal knowledge of the planned plot.

Enemies: (this need not be a bitter "to the death" kind of enemy, parhaps one of the other companies hates the way you work, or a jealous ally wants to sabotage you and steal your thunder. or maybe its just a smash on sight type thing you decide.)
Personality: Senzen is an oddly somber man for being a soldier, he seems to constantly maintain a cold collected calm, as if he makes a conscious effort to appear in control of himself. Yet behind closed doors his past haunts him, he awakens fairly regularly in a panicky state and in a puddle of sweat. while in the pressence of others he maintains a calm, however in combat he takes it to the extreame seeming to leave all emotion behind and becoming numb to the death occuring around him. whether it be allies falling to his sides or enemies being mutilated he manages to take it in stride pushing it deep within his psyche and never seeming to address it. he views displays of emotion from others as unprofessional and weak, seeing it as the duty of the soul reapers who guard the seireitei to keep themselves in full control of themselves as mistakes they make can cost the lives of those they protect. After becoming the captain of the 11th company he began to train each member of his company to work not as a lone warrior but as an effective unit capable of covering one anothers weaknesses to form the piercing spearhead of the seireitei's 13 court guard companies. that said unlike most members of the 11th company senzen does not enjoy combat nor does he hold disain for it, rather he understands the necessity of conflict and struggle seeing it as a fundamental part all forms of life, entropy brings death and chaos to all things life is simply a temporary state of warfare against this entropy. he does not see himself as better than any of him squad members, fellow captains,or any other shinigami because if you were to ask him he would say he never belonged in the Seireitei to begin with, after all hell is full of men like him whose deeds have caused suffering and pain to those around him.

Strengths: Adaptability, huge Spirit pressure reserves, unpredictability.

Zanpaku-to
yahata.jpg
Name: Yahata No Heiki-ko (Armory of Hachiman)
Incantation: "Let the widows Wail, Yahata No Heiki-Ko"
Special properties: Yahata No Heiki-Ko possesses an additional seal before its shikai thats a sort of half release. it grants no bonus to the power of senzen but it awakens a few base abilities of the zanpaku-to
False shikai abilities: "Tetsu No Jidai" (age of iron)- in this state the prideful nature of Yahata no heiki-ko is glaringly apparent. it refuses to share its power with senzen meaning triggering this state results in no boost to his reiatsu whatsoever. by giving Yahata no heiki-ko his own reiatsu he can coax the zanpaku-to into changing its form though this also gives hi no bonus to his reiatsu. the weapon can take 1 of 4 forms and must be given reiatsu to change to any of these forms. the first is its sword form which resembles the sealed form of his zanpaku-to but it is less likely to break and seems in better condition. its second possible form is a heavy headed spear that possesses a very sharp point and is ideal for penetrating defenses. the third possible form is an iron kanabo which can easily throw foes off balance with its heavy weight. the fourth possible form is a bow with twelve arrows that have ropes attached to them allowing them to move around the battlefied or move his foes around them. in any state the transformation looks as if the weapon heats up and explodes into shards of steel that deal no damage, a fraction of a second later the pieces will recombine into the desired now form. Most confuse this with the true release of his shikai.

Shikai abilities: "Sangyo No Jidai" (age of industry)- the true shikai of Yahata no heiki-ko, only usable if yahata has a moderate respect for the foe, though senzen can convince yahata of why a foe is worthy of respect if he tries. this shikai grants senzen a fivefold multiplier to his spiritual pressure which makes it powerful enough to be felt all the way to the rukon districts. like his false shikai the main property of this zanpakuto is its ability to morph into four different types of weapon at will with each form having different abilities. the first of its forms is a set of akimbo .45 pistols each holding eleven rounds. these rounds are made of condensed reiatsu and will bounce off of hard things without losing any momentum allowing them to ricochet indefinitely until the round either hits a soft target or is destroyed. its second form is a pump action 12 gauge shotgun holding 8 rounds of 3" magnum bird shot pellets also made of condensed reiatsu, however these pellets explode a fraction of a second after impact allowing them to detonate within a target quickly stacking up massive damage on a foe usually being enough to end them outright. the third form is a barret .50 caliber sniper rifle holding 5 rounds which will home in on the target and perforate whatever it hits only to swing around and hit them again, each round can be focused on a single target and will continue chasing and piercing them until then round is destroyed. the fourth form of the weapon is an m-16a2 assault rifle which holds 30 rounds and is capable of punching through thick armor and even hitting targets through small buildings and structures. the rounds of each weapon are fixed and if he runs out of ammo he must switch weapons however if all 4 weapons run out of ammo the shikai will end and revert to his sealed sword even disallowing him to use his false shikai for a few hours as the blade recharges, that said it will allow progression to bankai if called upon shortly after the weapons run empty. .

Bankai abilities: "Mirai No Jidai" (age of the future)- redacted

Social awareness: A handful of captains have seen his true shikai, though only shunsui and the central 46 know of his bankai. it is well known that he is forbidden from using his bankai within the seireitei. Most believe his false shikai to be the real one.

Title: The heir of the Sakaido clan.
Allies: any of the kuchichi clan
Enemies: Captain senzen
Personality: Toki is a quite and reserved young man with seemingly low ambition and a lack of desire to advance. he seems to find the most joy while in the rukon districts where he spends time with the less fortunate using his families wealth to attempt and solve problems. of course this is not something his clan appreciates but he is the only one of the Sakaido clan who is in the 13 court guard squads at least until his younger cousin completes her training. His concern for others tends to keep him moving forward despite his generally lax demeanor and a desire to spend most of his time sipping hot tea. despite 500 years as a souls reaper his progression has been slow and is wholly attributed to his families influence causing other soul reapers especially in the 11th squad to look down on him. however he does seem to find some form of respect when it comes to kido spells as he has masted booth hado and bakudo to the point of not needing incantions though he will often still use them for added power, due to this he has been suggested for the kido corps but he declines each offer thinking he can best provide aide in the 13 companies.

Zanpaku-to
29d52a569e338de1d62da4af8ad471fd(1).jpg
Name: Kowareta Kagami (broken mirrors.)
Incantation: "make visible all flaws, Kowareta kagami"
Special properties: kowareta kagami is regarded as one of the most beautiful zanpaku-to's, its cracks along its length refract light making the blade seem to shine in a variety of colors once activated.
Shikai abilities: broken mirrors reflects/deflects any ranged energy based attacks such as hado, cero, bala, or even ranged attacks of other zanpaku-to abilities. the reflection is only 1/3rd as powerful as the original attack with the rest of the energy being absorbed by the blade. once enough energy has been absorbed or if the blade is struck by a physical attack the blade will shatter into several dozen inch to inch and a half shards though this is by design. these shards will reflect energy attacks off of them as well allowing for a more encompassing defense. these shards will float like mines and can be moved with toki's willpower. once full of energy they begin to reflect/deflect 100% of the energy. as a secondary effect the fully charged shards will move towards foes slowly at first but the closer they get the faster they move. once they make it within two meters of the target they will violently explode peppering the area with razor sharp glass shrapnel. the blade can be pulled back together at will and the fragments which detonate will reform a few seconds later but will be completely emptied of their power requiring more reflection/deflection to charge. luckily toki can use his own hado techniques to charge them while bouncing said hado around making it harder to respond to them. that is in fact his primary application of this ability. sadly the shikai provides a very low multiplier to his power putting him slightly below other members of the same rank within the gotei 13. he makes up for this with tactical usage of his abilities.
Bankai abilities: Not Yet Applicable
Social awareness: kowareta kagami is a famous sword throughout the soul society, known for its beauty and for the legend saying it was broken saving the seireitei 1000 years ago. due to it being broken in its bankai state it has yet to recover fully but it allegedly grows more powerful with each shinigami it is passed down to resulting in the sakaido clan ensuring that at least one of their members joins the gotei 13 with each generation.

Name: Yaiba Kochou
Age: 298
Race: Shinigami
Gender: Female
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Red
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 120lbs
Appearance:
Kochou, now a striking, inexplicably stunning woman at the forefront of Soul Society's military, was born among mortal men in the realm of the living—a jewel hidden in coarse sand. The cultural norms of her home village manifested themselves in those around her, who found her fragile voice irritating and her soft skin incapable of helping their society run, confining her to the most basic family chores. They saw her as a piece of property, a girl lucky enough to be destined for prettiness in a way that would eventually attract a husband, yet poor enough that her dowry would be insubstantial and troublesome for any honest man to burden himself with. They saw her as a young girl with bright eyes that would never be worth the trouble. It was a tragic position, one from which there was no escape. And for all of her natural beauty, still brilliant and gleaming beneath the mud, dirt, and scorn, there were too few open eyes to appreciate it. Instead, they remained shut—ignorant—as life continued on in that perfectly detrimental way that it sometimes can.

It saddened only her parents when Kochou's human body failed. She succumbed to a disease in her late youth, cursed by her poverty to have no chance of survival. But when she found herself in Soul Society, a tremendous spiritual power was unleashed within her, and it manifested itself by fortifying her natural beauty. In life, her hair was a subtle amber, with sweeping tones of orange and strawberry that flickered and danced in the morning light. As a spirit, these locks turned into a deep, vibrant red. They became waves of fire and passion, unleashed by the change of fate and the grand destiny that now stood before a girl who had nothing in life, and who now sped through the trials of the Shinigami and gained captaincy in impressive time. Over the years, she has worn in it many different ways: cropped short and tomboyish, tied into a long tail reaching down to the mid-back, and dozens of other styles. What she has finally settled on is a somewhat simplistic yet elegant format; her hair is long in the back and sides and sweeping bangs help keep her face obscured.

One would never expect such a beautiful woman to hide her face so timidly, yet Kochou feels that she has no choice. Although most of her memories were swept clean upon her arrival in Soul Society, the impact of her tragic place in life never quite vanished. Instead, it burrowed itself into her new personality deeper than ever, causing a level of self-consciousness (only about appearances) that is known in the human world as body dysmorphia. This is why her bangs are kept long to help shield the peripheries of her face. It is the reason why her crystal blue eyes, which could melt the ice from a cruel man's heart, hide behind the shadows of a white hood. One could search through Soul Society from top to bottom in order to find a single person who fails to see the inherent, transcendent elegance of Kochou's face, but they would come back empty handed. The Captain herself is the only one who actively believes that her appearance is anything less than perfect.

It is this self-depreciation that sits as the root of the most apparent physical characteristic of Kochou's Shinigami uniform—her hood. Seamlessly attached to her Captain's haori, the white hood rests over her head like a sheet over an embarrassed bride, trapping her flowing red hair between her back and the cloth of her rank-symbol. With this piece of clothing draped over her head, resting just above her face, not a single soul can see anything but her thin yet well-formed lips, and sometimes, if the light strikes just right, her gently pointed nose. The shadows produced by the hood serve to secret away her identity, robbing the world of a view in favor of her own comfort. No matter where she goes or what she does, her haori and uniform always trail along with her; they always protect her, not from the judgment of others, but from the demons within her own heart that tear down her confidence and seed her thoughts with doubt and self-loathing. Only by hiding her face is she able to suppress this feeling on a day-to-day basis.

The rest of Kochou's haori is tame and unaltered, excluding its sleeveless design. Otherwise, it fits the normal specifications for the average Captain-class Shinigami. The white cloth pattern droops across her frame, stopping just above her ankles. Symbolic black diamond shapes are sewn into the hems—a recognizable feature of rank. On her back rests the 3rd Division insignia, which proclaims her as its sole leader and one of the most powerful bodies of defense in all of Soul Society. Simply by looking at this symbol, which represents the group of soldiers waiting in the wings to reinforce anyone who needs martial assistance, one can feel a sense of respect welling within their chests, beating the inside of their ribs like a call-to-war. It is Kochou's division that truly embodies the camaraderie born in battle. It is the men and women under her command that show up when the fighting is at its worst, replacing lost Shinigami with their own ranks until the war is won. Her haori symbolizes this ideal, and she wears it with a certain brand of respectful pride, despite the fact that a hood continually shadows her face from the outside world.

What the 'Butterfly' lacks in confidence (regarding her appearance), she makes up for in fluid purpose and tranquil beauty of movement. Where others move with a sense of repetition and instinct, one step in front of the other in a predictable line, hands and arms swaying along the same paths, Kochou seems to shift and change as she walks from place to place. It is as if she is aware of every move that she makes, whether or not the action is of any real significance. And in this one might find a major part of what makes the 'Jewel' so intriguing to watch; her precision of swordplay and her mystical aura bleed through into so many other facets of her existence. In a way, watching her walk can be as mesmerizing as witnessing an example of her masterful skills in weaponry, which are considered far beyond the capabilities of any other Shinigami, within or without the Captain class.

Kochou's body rests within her uniform like a butterfly in its chrysalis. She stands at about five feet and eight inches in height, with a slender yet uniquely fit form hiding beneath the folds of white and black cloth. Her bust is relatively large, yet her breasts never seem to get in the way of her fluid movements or actions. And while she enters battle quicker than most other Shinigami, always willing to test her mettle against the foes of Soul Society, her skin is devoid of scars. This is due to her reliance on the talents of the 4th Division, who know just how fragile her self-confidence is. They do their utmost to ensure that no wound leaves a visible marring on the Jewel of the Gotei 13.

StatusFaction: 3rd Division
"When Shinigami find themselves overwhelmed in a fight, it's the 3rd Division that they hope to see in the wings. They always have your back."
The 3rd Division is designated as a combat relief unit and source of outside consultation/training during times of peace and war. They are contacted by other divisions and civilian groups when troops are in need of combat support or additional training in areas ill-suited to standard regiments. They are often looked down upon by those who do not recognize the value of these services. Those same individuals generally take back their sentiments when a squad of 3rd Division Shinigami arrive during a brutal situation to provide combat relief. Although they are far more active during times of war, the members of this division are always ready to deploy their services whenever they are called upon.

Shinigami who apply to this division come from all walks of life. They have extremely varied skill-sets that cannot be categorized as easily as some of the other groups in the Gotei 13. The only common thread that runs through most of the members of the 3rd Division are the propensities towards protecting others, sacrificing oneself, and teaching individuals how to fend for themselves. The most common personality trait among its members is that 'protectiveness' commonly associated with siblings or military squad-mates. As such, many individuals see members of this group in a very good light, regardless of whether or not they have ever met them before. Their skills in combat are generally broad to accommodate many situations.
Rank: Captain
Title: The Hooded Master
Allies: ???
Enemies: ???
Personality:
Body dysmorphia is a mental condition that causes the sufferer to see brutal flaws in their visual appearance no matter the situation, even if their objective beauty is reinforced by loved ones on a near-constant basis. Kochou is affected heavily from this disorder, which was brought over from the disrespect she suffered through in life. It has supplanted itself deep in her psyche, and no manner of emotional training or mental fortification has been able to relieve the pain of seeing herself in the mirror. This is why the Butterfly, who seems so stunning to the outside world, can do nothing but hide her face within the unnatural shadow of a white hood; it is why she must appease the irrational beast that lurks within her own self-image, no matter the cost to her personal pride or the curious stares of those who wonder at the meaning of her actions.

In social situations, this personality trait is most clearly seen when Kochou receives a compliment on her looks. Where a mentally healthy individual might express thanks for the gesture, Captain Yaiba looks down and covers more of her face with the shadow, often with a frown or a horribly embarrassed pursing of her lips. Sometimes, if the words come from someone she feels particularly comfortable with, she will simply blush and turn away, which is a sign that while she very much disagrees with their opinion, she does not harbor resentment at their comment. The only individual who is capable of complimenting her without receiving a visible reaction was her surrogate father. This is simply due to the extreme consistency of these compliments, which have turned into a measure of bonding between the two of them. He would mostly do it to tease the now Captain, and as such, Kochou hardly recognized the link to her actual appearance within the words.

Another incredibly important facet of Kochou's personality is her status as the Grandmaster of Zanjutsu, a title given to her after decades of training under the previous holder of the position—a man she once considered a surrogate father. He had found her on the streets of Rukongai and had recognized in her a level of potential that no one else had; he was the one who gave her the nickname 'Butterfly', which has traveled with her to her current position. The man trained her, enrolled her in the Shinō Academy, and helped her rise in the ranks until she attained the position of Captain. Then, when she could rise no higher, he challenged her to a fight to the death, seeing in her a strength he found lacking in himself. Despite Kochou's protests, she eventually accepted the duel, and after a battle that lasted three hours and resulted in the death of her closest friend, she found herself christened with the title of 'Grandmaster'.

It was in her path towards Grandmaster that Kochou found her passion: swordplay. Her natural talents for it were so prodigal that they bordered on the unthinkable. She discovered that, through Zanjutsu, her self-confidence found a certain indelible, unshakable balance, and that feature of her personal reality has sewn itself into the fabric of her life in no small way. Eight hours of every day is spent purely on continuing her endless mastery of her blades, whether it be through meditation or combat drills or actual contact-sparring. It is a thing that functions similarly to therapy, as her feelings are best expressed and relieved through Zanjutsu. And not only has it culminated as a level of perfection in the arts of swordplay, but it has also allowed her to retain a functional mental status despite her crippling self-image.

While it would be difficult to suspect through conversation, Kochou has a tremendous—although fundamentally justified—ego about her abilities with Zanjutsu. In almost all facets of her personal life, the Jewel is relatively meek. Even in her professional actions as leader of a division within the Gotei 13, which she takes seriously, she seems neutral and accepting of her limitations. With her swords, however, there is no boundary that her mind is unwilling to cross, and her belief in herself is beyond compare. Kochou fully (and rightly) believes that she is the most capable swordsman in the Gotei 13, despite others being stronger physically or perhaps beyond the grasp of her current power.

During battle, Kochou thrives. The issues with her self-confidence are stripped away when her blades clash against steel, unleashing a side of her personality that only the strongest ever see. She becomes self-assured and can communicate in ways that would have been impossible in any normal setting. As such, she is a strong believer in the concept of sparring, where two allied combatants can communicate through movements and conflict what neither of them could either say with words.

Name: Shōtotsu Ken no Chō (Butterfly of the Clashing Swords)
Incantation: Spread your wings, Shōtotsu Ken no Chō."
Special properties:
Kochou's Zanpakutō is of a particularly rare breed, and its uniqueness has often been cited as the source of the Captain's flawless swordplay by those who have studied Shinigami weapons. It takes the form of two completely separate katana. This alone is quite uncommon, being a cause for celebration when such sought-after manifestation of inner power is expressed. Kochou's, however, is stranger still. While most dual-bladed Zanpakutō represent two inner spirits that function both simultaneously and separately, hers are only tied to one, Shōtotsu Ken no Chō. Scholars, baffled by this fact, spent many decades questioning how a lonesome entity could manifest itself in two separate places at once, leaving no physical connection between the katana. They have a similarly difficult time knowing whether to call her blades by singular or plural descriptors. While they have yet to reach a satisfying conclusion, all of them agree that its duality remains a fundamental trait that helps explain the immense fluidity and connection that Kochou displays in combat.

Beyond their uniqueness, the Butterfly's Zanpakutō are widely admired for their aesthetic qualities: one is a brilliant shade of sky blue while the other is a light crimson. The blue weapon features silver accents while the other has gold. Their colors dance across the grips of the weapons in crisscross patterns, intersected by the precious metal that lies beneath. Those who respect a Shinigami for the care that they show to their Zanpakutō would both love and hate Kochou based solely on these handles. For the most part, she is a model by which all should judge their weapon upkeep; she cleans the delicate cloth on a daily basis, buffs the metal to a mirror-shine, and stores her Zanpakutō prominently in her quarters, beautiful grips visible above the saya. However, during training, she is not opposed to unfolding the colored wrappings and using them to afford herself an extra sliver of grip, nor is she against slamming the handles against an opponent should the opportunity present itself. The damage caused by these strategies can be quite visible, but she always seems to find the time to repair it all through meditation.

The pommels of the Zanpakutō feature tufts of cloth strings in the shape of tassels that match the color of the weapons. The fibers within these visually pleasing accessories are stronger than steel, despite being made from a material that feels as soft as a bushel of silk strands. It is this unusual resilience that allows Kochou to wield her swords when using the Tsumujikaze style of Zanjutsu, in which she spins the full weight of her blades in circular motions while gripping tightly on the tassels. At the base of the strands rests a very small, silver (for the blue katana) or gold (for the red katana) ring that seems loosely attached to the grip; it allows the strings to move freely and entirely without friction, which increases the speed of the centrifugal movements of Tsumujikaze, thus improving cutting power. It is a design that astounds Zanpakutō scholars even more, as its intuitive, streamlined grasp of physics displays an incredible damage-dealing potential. And, for many enthusiasts, another level of functional 'beauty'.

Shōtotsu Ken no Chō has two equal length blades—just above simple oval tsuba—that mimic the exact dimensions of the average katana, making them visually unspectacular in comparison to the exquisite handles. Despite the care that Kochou shows for them, buffing the metal until it gleans in the sun, they always sustain a good amount of damage during her daily training exercises, making the care and wear a circular pattern that she follows on a day-to-day basis. But she always enters a battle with freshly polished blades if she can help it, which she then uses to distract enemies or blind their eyes with reflected light. This small advantage rarely lasts long, however, as her favoritism towards melee Zanjutsu guarantees that her swords see plenty of use during each battle in as many capacities as she can manage. The way that they look are only a concern to the Butterfly when the fight is over. Until then, they serve as weapons of war, not pieces of art to be admired.

It is a rare thing to see the 3rd Division Captain without her Zanpakutō, even in times of peace. After proving to Central 46 that her particularly focused skills in Zanjutsu demanded special privileges, she was awarded the right to carry Shōtotsu Ken no Chō with her at all times. Only during specific ceremonies—Captain's meeting, funerals, or other solemn events—does she leave her weapons behind in her personal quarters. Otherwise, they can be seen dangling from the left side of her hip, ready to be drawn at any moment. In combat, she is almost always the first to draw her swords, knowing that they will be the deciding factor in whether she wins or loses. Her connection to them is seamless, and it shows in many ways.
Shikai abilities:
Kochou is a combatant who lies somewhere in the middle in regard to when she will release her Zanpakutō. Many choose to enter Shikai as quickly as possible to gain an immediate upper hand, taking their enemies by storm and overpowering them with the unique abilities granted by their release. Others keep their weapons sealed for as long as they can, hoping to hide their potential from their opponents so that they can use advanced tactics in order to capitalize on surprise, misinformation, and misdirection. Kochou is a Captain who simply releases when she feels that it will give her the advantage she needs to win the fight. If she believes that she can defeat her opponent with Zanjutsu alone, she might never unseal her Shikai. On the flip-side of the same coin, if she feels like her rival is powerful enough or has a technique that requires the use of her release, she will unleash it without hesitation. This makes her a rather practical fighter whose actions depend on the circumstances.

When she deems it necessary to enter Shikai, Kochou rarely announces it openly. Being a Captain, a rank of Shinigami who often have an intimate connection with their Zanpakutō, she does not need to say its release phrase in order to shift its form, nor does she generally elect to. Instead, the Butterfly's two katana often change mid-swing at a particularly advantageous moment, shifting their power and shape in a way that turns a normal transformation into an attack of its own. However, should she ever find herself in a situation where saying the phrase has no drawbacks, such as a sparring match or exhibition, the Jewel holds both of her swords to her sides with extended arms, blades pointing slightly higher than shoulder-level. She then states:

"Spread your wings, Shōtotsu Ken no Chō."

No matter the circumstance in which Kochou enters Shikai, the Reiatsu that bursts forward from her form is always overpowering and worthy of her station, able to seriously injure individuals who fail to avoid the immediate area. Tides of this crimson energy sweep up the blades from the grips, which remain entirely unchanged, over the tsuba (which vanish entirely), and down to the tips of the swords, shifting their physical forms at identical rates until the transformation is complete. The speed of this change depends on Kochou's own intent. Should she be in the middle of an attack, it is almost immediate. If, however, she has time to spare and has released far from her opponent, the shifting forms of the weapons can take up to a few seconds to change. There is no difference in power or function between these two options of transformation; it is simply a matter of comfort, as a quicker release takes slightly more Reiryoku to fuel.

When the transformation is finished, the Butterfly stands holding two bulky, double-edged, beautifully shaped blades that seem horrifically unwieldy in comparison to the sleek, functional katana of her sealed form; each is nearly the size of the woman wielding it. However, these weapons weigh absolutely nothing to Kochou, as is often the case for Zanpakutō and the Shinigami who own them. The excessive dimensions of the two blades are as natural to her as her own limbs, and as she swings them flawlessly and seemingly without effort, the real threat of their size becomes painfully apparent to those who wasted time judging them by their 'unwieldiness'; it becomes a strength, not a weakness.

The altered forms of the swords are both curious and beautiful in their fluid design, with two distinct sections of shape and style on each. The first begins at the base of the blades until about three-quarters of the way to the tips. This area is rectangular, with two sharp edges on either side so thick that they meet in the middle. It is a simple design that is perfect for cutting or chopping, much like a thick claymore or longsword. The heads of the blades, however, are very unique in their shape. Where the rectangular, thick portion of sword ends, the metal seems to flatten out into a continuous, paper-thin sheet. It then curves in on itself, making crescent-shaped indents into the steel. On the other side of the indents, at the very tip of the weapon, rests a final, large curve of the blade that looks like the head of a battle-axe, made for swiping and cutting in sweeping arcs of motion. It is a distinctly dangerous design.

While the shapes of the weapons draw interest on their own, it is what lies within the axe-like crescent at the tip of the blades that contributes to the comments of beauty circling around Kochou's Shikai. A large circle is hollowed out in each, and within them float stunning orbs of energy and vibrant color that seem locked in place by some unknown force. The colors of these glass-like jewels mimic the grip and tassel of the sword in which they rest—either sky-blue or a stunning shade of crimson. The energy within them swirls and pulses with a tangible power that can be felt by everyone with the slightest spiritual sense, especially those who are familiar with its properties.

Shikai Powers:
Chi Orbs: Despite being a highly physical Zanpakutō, Shōtotsu Ken no Chō has a unique ability in the form of the two orbs of brilliantly colored energy floating within the hollow section of its blades. These are not simply aesthetic additions to its form; they are thin globes of glass filled with dangerously high amounts of compressed spiritual energy. Should one of them break open for any reason, the resulting explosion could cause craters in solid stone walls, break bones from impact trauma, or even obliterate the bodies of weaker opponents entirely. The real danger is posed by the fact that these glass containers are quite fragile. They never break while Kochou is swinging her weapons because they are perfectly suspended in the hollow opening meant to keep them in place. However, should they be hit with even a minuscule amount of force, they violently shatter and release the compacted, tumultuous Reiatsu stored within. Kochou and her weapons are immune to the brunt of the damage. Others are rarely as fortunate, as the Captain is more than willing to slam a blade flat-side first into the body of her opponent, setting off a fearsome explosion. She is also known to block with that portion of her blades. There is a little difference between the colors of the orbs, with the red causing the blue to to home in and vis verse.
Orb Regeneration: Once an orb is broken, the spiritual energy within it is completely expended. When Kochou originally unlocked her Shikai, breaking both the red and blue orb was enough to exhaust her, and neither would be replaced until she rested and released her weapons again. Since she rose in the ranks and became a Captain, her tolerance and stores of energy have vastly increased, allowing her to potentially fill over two-thousand of these expendable weapons before succumbing to unthinkable exhaustion. As her power advanced to this now incredible level and her connectivity to Shōtotsu Ken no Chō improved, the Butterfly discovered that she had become capable of replacing the orbs by concentrating her spiritual energy through her blades. The rapidity of this 'reloading' action depends on the amount of mental effort she chooses to focus on the task. A simple thought—effortless and instant—is enough to begin the process and form it within a few seconds. To replace it immediately, however, Kochou must perform the mental equivalent of tensing all of the muscles in her body, which, if done repetitively, can be quite draining.
Orb Propulsion: The orbs within the blades are kept stationary by a constantly shifting field of Reiatsu, preventing them from touching the inside edges of their holding places, which would break the glass and prematurely cause an explosion and a waste of energy. After many years of training, Kochou discovered that she could sever this field, letting gravity take its natural control, or even alter it to 'fire' an orb like a projectile from its place within the blade. Using this ability, the Butterfly can attack enemies at a distance with minimal effort. Although she must be wary to avoid wasteful rapid-fire due to the eventual limit on her spiritual power, it remains an open option for her when faced with opponents who rely on speed and range to avoid the edges of her blades. Once released she may control these orbs independently to track targets while still pushing forward with Zanjutsu strikes or use their detonation to propel stikes with even more force and speed.
Redirection: When force strikes her blades, be it physical strikes or energy blasts she can store this force and redirect it to her other blade to empower her strikes or store it in a empowered orb for use with her other abilitys. By applying this ability she may counter attack with extremely powerful stikes combining both her own attack and that of her opponent.
Bankai abilities:
Like Kochou's Shikai state, the Bankai form of her Zanpakutō is released on a situation-by-situation basis, judged by how necessary she believes its use to be. To the outside world, where its form is somewhat of a common topic, there is always an open desire to see it utilized as quickly and as often as possible. This widely expressed wish is due to its status as the 'most beautiful Bankai in Soul Society', a title which Kochou herself has mixed feelings about, given the fact that her face can be seen once it has been activated. Despite the occasional protest or blush from the Captain, the rumors of its vivid appearance have spread far from their home in the Seireitei.

To begin the transformation, which requires far more ritual and power than the simple Shikai release, Kochou clears the area around her and takes to the air. She prefers to do this with a flourish of her blades or an explosion from the orbs within their tips. However, should she be forced to retreat using Shunpo, she will, and the Captain is not above releasing a tremendous amount of spiritual power to slow opponents in their pursuit. Once she has ample room, the Butterfly flips her Zanpakutō into the air. In the short window of time when her weapons spin above her, she slips off her hood and discards her haori, which would be vaporized due to the nature of her Bankai. It is a sign that she has chosen to transform her weapons, and viewing her beauty is commonly seen as both a gift and a curse. She then catches the two Zanpakutō so that the blades point towards the ground instead of in front of her. The Butterfly then brings the weapons behind her and touches their pommels against one another, just below the small of her back. She states:

"Bankai."

Brilliant waves of crimson energy spill forth from Kochou in all directions, pouring a suffocating amount of power over anyone who happens to be nearby. Although most Captains would find themselves capable of holding their ground within this impressive display of potency, almost all Lieutenants would find themselves struggling to stand, and those weaker than that risk being ripped apart by the force of the spiritual energy. Two mammoth, twisting wings of blue and red Reiatsu bloom from the waves where Kochou's hidden body once stood, reaching nearly fifty feet in diameter before dissipating into the atmosphere.

When the flow of energy ceases and Kochou becomes visible once again, the final form of her Zanpakutō—the most beautiful Bankai is Soul Society—is plainly visible. Without her haori to veil her hair and face in shadow, the Jewel's brilliantly colored eyes and stunning hair are free to strike at the hearts of those still around to view her. Under most circumstances, this open expression of her looks would be enough to cripple Kochou and send her into a state of self-loathing, depression, and uncertainty. However, once Bankai has been released, her mind becomes absolutely occupied with the task at hand. She becomes a floating, living embodiment of Zanjutsu, allowing her to compartmentalize her psychological condition until the battle is over, after which she invariably scoops up her haori and quickly tends to her wounded psyche.

The upper-half of the Shinigami uniform, which is stripped away from her torso during the transformation, is replaced by an elegant golden breastplate that curves delicately around her chest. This ornate design is an expression of her Zanpakutō spirit, which protects her heart and body, encasing them in armor to protect the only part of her that remains fragile. A matching golden choker adorned with three brilliantly cut rubies is clasped around her slender neck, attached to the breastplate by two strings of pearls. Although this part offers little protection, taking up only a small portion of her throat, it manages to add to the regal beauty of her Bankai state.

The most apparent, stunning, and fearsome change to Kochou's Zanpakutō takes the form of sixteen additional swords that float in a set pattern behind her back, eight on each side, mimicking the wings of a butterfly. Although different, with deadly curved edges and no tassels, the general shape and size of these blades does not drastically change from Shikai to Bankai. The blue and red colored orbs and grips remain, set in an alternating pattern within the 'wings' that create a mixing of colors and a beautiful contrast. The orbs seem to appear like eyespots on the wings of a butterfly, just like the Zanpakutō spirit which they represent. They watch over the battlefield and await the mental command of the woman to which they are bound, and they are capable of functioning in the same capacity as they did in her Shikai form though independently of her primary two blades.

Bankai Powers:
In addition to her previous abilities, this transformation grants several more as well as empowering all previous ones.
Organ/Limb Replacement: As one might expect, Kochou generally dives straight into close combat as soon as she is able, taking hold of one or two of the swords on her back, mentally detaching them from their place, and using them in the same manner as she would her Shikai blades and mentally commanding the others. Against powerful opponents, it is possible that this relish for melee battle can cause her to sustain serious injury—even limb loss. Should this happen, the Butterfly can hold one of her sixteen blades to the site of the wound, touching any part of the weapon to its surface. Each of the Zanpakutō holds a orb composed of a tremendous amount of spiritual energy, and by using her close attunement to Shōtotsu Ken no Chō, she can transfer the power into her own body, rapidly replacing the lost flesh at an incredible speed as the energy from the orb molds to take its place. This technique can replace entire limbs, organs, and sections of muscle tissue within seconds, allowing Kochou to continue fighting when it would have otherwise been impossible, the new tissue functions as if it were her own flesh and blood.
Kemushi (Caterpillar): With the transformation into Bankai comes an incredible increase of functionality to the orbs within Kochou's blades. No longer does she have to concentrate to reform them or launch them from their place, increasing their potential rate of fire drastically. In addition, the newly tapped resource of energy allows her to access a vastly increased supply of ammunition, many times the amount she was capable of producing in her Shikai state. The Kemushi is the ultimate expression of these functional changes. It begins by launching dozens of orbs from each blade in an instinctual, perfectly timed cascade. As the first orb makes contact with a solid surface, it explodes. The force of that eruption breaks the next closet orb, which continues the chain in a cacophony of crimson and sky-blue bursts of energy that trail like a caterpillar in whatever direction Kochou chooses. Not only does this ability cover a vast area in a staggering, confusing trail of colorful explosions, potentially cornering enemies, it also allows Kochou to create a path of destruction as she moves. By starting the Kemushi chain behind her, launching the orbs backwards instead of forwards, the Butterfly can create a caterpillar-like trail of force that appears to chase her as she moves. This use of the technique makes it incredibly difficult to follow her.
Chō no Shi (Death of a Butterfly): This technique is the ultimate expression of her power. It is the only ability that she cannot use in a sparring match, due to a combination of its destructive capability and the damage that it does to her own body, which is completely incapacitated once the technique is launched. By curving the blades on her back inward, as if she were folding her 'wings' around her front, Kochou can aim their orbs towards the center of her chi, which is just a foot away from the middle of her breastplate. She then focuses all of the energy of each Zanpakutō into the orbs that rest in their tips, filling them to absolute capacity and rendering the blades themselves useless and fragile, before launching them towards that single point. The globes shatter as they collide, releasing a torrent of blue and crimson energy. Kochou's chi contains this explosion in front of her, focusing it into a swirling ball that is oddly similar to the beginning state of a Cero. Then, by releasing her hold on her meditative energy, an act that causes her to instantly pass out and enter a coma-like state, Kochou can direct the massive torrent wherever she chooses. The resulting beam is composed of twisting colors of Reiatsu and can completely vaporize an entire city before trailing off. But the most incredible feature of the Chō no Shi is the echo that it leaves behind: specks of floating energy that flutter like colorful butterflies before shooting after several other targets or after the initial one.

Allies: (you may put whatever you wish but none of the canon characters besides shunsui can be put here.) ???
Enemies: (this need not be a bitter "to the death" kind of enemy, parhaps one of the other companies hates the way you work, or a jealous ally wants to sabotage you and steal your thunder. or maybe its just a smash on sight type thing you decide.) ???
