  Being born the Salvatore was a commitment in itself. And while the middle children were usually the most “normal” ones of the litter, it definitely didn’t apply to this family. Gianna was born a few years after her older brother and since the family already had the male heir they required, Gia was mostly off the hook for majority of the tasks. It was her brother's role to lead the family when his time came and naturally, before their youngest sister was born, it was Gia who was daddy's little sweetheart.
  
  Gianna had her typical rich kid childhood, nothing was ever taken away from her, daddy made sure his little treasure had everything her heart yearned for and Gia enjoyed herself very much. She grew up as entitled, spoiled rich brat and always expected things to happen for her because she was a Salvatore. Her name gave her a lot of benefits but also a lot of trouble. In her case, boy trouble. Everyone wanted their shot at getting into that family but Gia was looking for that special someone. No one was exactly good enough and if she liked him, he still had to pass her father's test. And this ordeal was going on until she thought there was no one for this Salvatore out there. Until one day.
  
  Leon Giordano was her perfect match. Good family background, handsome as the devil, sharp as a tack. They shared a lot of common interests and enjoyed one another a lot. So much that they actually dated for four years and then Leon knelt down, asking for Gia’s hand in marriage. The thing was, while Gia was over the moon, her family was not. The Giordano’s were a rich family but insignificant. By marrying one of them, Gia would earn nothing. Her family would earn nothing. And that was unacceptable. But considering who Gianna was, she simply decided to go for it. After all, she loved Leon more than the world and not even her father would be able to stop her at this point. Gia fell hard and deep and already saw her future with Leon happening, all fantasies in pink.
  
  Until that one day when she just found the perfect dress and came over to Leon’s to celebrate. The man didn’t expect her and so Gia found her future husband tangled in sheets. And in the endless legs of some fucking slut she didn’t know. Gia’s world crumbled in front of her tear-filled eyes and she ran out of that apartment at the speed of sound. Leon realized he screwed up and tried to get her back but Gianna’s revengeful Salvatore nature awoke and when he came with all his idiotic excuses, they got in the fight which ended up with Gia pulling the trigger, killing her fiancé in cold blood. He was lying there at her feet, his corpse slowly becoming cold and not one tear rolled down the girl's cheek. The pool of blood was slowly becoming larger and larger, staining the expensive Persian carpet any yet, she never moved. That was exactly how her brother found her. Towering over the dead man, a revolver in her hand and a stone-cold look in her eyes.
  
  Of course, her family took care of it, it basically never happened and life went on as always. Or not. Gianna was never the same after this incident. Her heart turned into a rock and the sound of a bullet leaving the barrel became too appealing. For the first time, she realized she could be of more use to her family than she thought before. Men became a thing of the past, or at least loving them. They turned into a tool to satisfy her primal needs. She used them and threw them away. And if they insisted on staying, they faced a choice. Either they would leave or they would join Tony Giordano's lifeless body at the bottom of a ditch. Focusing mostly on the family business, Gia took martial arts classes and spent her days honing her skills, ever supported by her father.   Backstory:
  
  When Alessandro was born, the Morellos were ecstatic. He was their first child and the boy which meant, the heir. The family was already high on the social ladder in Nevada only because they decided to take the greatest risk ever. Ignoring the fact that Las Vegas was already booming with business, the Morellos decided to build their own casino empire outside of Vegas. It was pretty reckless but they managed to do so and the business sprung up soon after the gates of their first casino opened.
  
  Of course, they were not the only ones who found this a good idea. The Salvatore family has always been there, they basically coexisted with each other. But the Morellos tried to work hard and be on top all the time, they would fight anyone and everyone. Old Don Morello was a ruthless man and he brought his son Alessandro the same way. He carried a heavy hand and Sandro felt it more often than not. Father was a mean bastard and his enemies trembled in front of him. And not only his enemies.
  
  Sandro was raised as the future Don of the family and though he had mind of his own, father’s upbringing signed on him a lot. He became cold and manipulative, sharp shooter handled all kinds of weapons – guns or knives, was skilled in negotiation of all kinds and understood the politics perfectly. Father gave him one of the family casinos to manage and that was the final exam. Sandro fucked up. Not much. But he did cost the family a lot of money. He will never forget the day when his father entered his office, calm as ever and announced him that he could choose the body part he was about to lose. The young man looked at his father and no matter how grown up he was, the old man could still make him shake like a willow tree. Fortunately, no cutting body parts off occurred that day but the punishment came anyway. Sandro still has a scar on two on his back. But he learned his lesson and he learned it well. The words have been etched on his mind ever since. You have one last chance to prove you♥re worthy of being my son, Alessandro. And boy, did he try to be the best version of himself or what?
  
  Since that moment, Sandro worked his ass off, learned a lot about running a casino. But with the mob, things are not rainbows and unicorns. Ever. Soon he was supposed to get married and the bride was already arranged for him. All Sandro had to do was to come to the church and say “I do”. And he did. One lesson from his father’s hunting knife was enough. Sandro never disobeyed and married Laura only to live in the loveless marriage that was going to be cursed by hatred and toxic vibes. From the very first day, Sandro and Laura knew that this union was going to kill them both. They would probably murder each other in sleep. Laura was a spoiled Sicilian brat who never had to work a day in her life, everything was presented to her on a silver platter and she was the mistress of the household. Most of her habits didn't sit well with Sandro and the fact that the two were unable to conceive a child didn't help. Naturally, Sandro grew fed up and decided he could not live this way anymore. Risking his father's wrat, he had divorce papers drawn and to his greatest surprise, Laura agreed to sign them. After their divorce was finalized, Sandro was a free man and planned on enjoying that very much.
  
  When the old Don ate the bullet, fired by nameless enemy, the Morello family was devastated. Sandro was not ready. But it happened, the throne was empty. The Don is dead, long live the Don. Sandro became the new head of the Morello family and knew he needed to keep the family glory up. He couldn’t afford to lose anything his father had earned and his merciless and cold nature intensified, trying to keep and expand the Morello empire. But only after the last will and testament were opened, Sandro realized that his father managed to screw him up one last time.   Malia is very hard working and very serious. For the past few years, she has not had much of a social life outside of work, as she has devoted herself to the FBI and her goal to find justice for her family. Malia has learned to become independent, though she misses having people in her life to care about. The young woman has a big heart, but she has tried to do her best to lock it away until she gets the revenge she seeks. Now the only emotions she allows herself to feel are often those of anger or frustration. She loses her temper quite easily but is trying to work on that, and channels her anger into running and kickboxing.
  
  As her alias Leandra, she acts more sociable, though still retains an air of seriousness. She is professional when needed, but doesn’t want to come across as too uptight, so she’ll let her hair down when the situation calls for it. She uses being a beautiful woman amongst a business largely run by men to her advantage, and is much more comfortable flirting while hiding behind her mask as Leandra than as herself.   Malia grew up in a loving household. Her father, Robert, worked as a judge and her mother stayed at home to raise her and her younger sister, Emily. Malia was a smart girl with a bright future ahead of her. Unfortunately, during her senior year of high school, Malia’s father found himself presiding over a case that involved lackeys of the Morello Family. From what Malia was later told, the Morellos tried to bribe her father into dismissing the case or ruling in their favor, but he wouldn’t take their money. On a stormy night, Malia returned home from a friend’s house to find that her family had been murdered in cold blood. Her entire world was turned upside down that night, but instead of letting her anger and despair lead her down a dark path, she turned to law enforcement.
  
  The police were never able to charge the Morellos with the murder of Malia’s family, so she joined the FBI training program in the hopes that one day she could avenge her parents and Emily and bring down the mob family. Malia quickly rose to the top of her class and graduated in less time than usual. Since joining the FBI as a junior agent, Malia has been requesting to be on the investigation into the Morello family. Due to the conflict of interest though, her superiors have refused to allow her to look into the mob family. Until now.
  
  One of the head agents who was part of the investigation into her father’s murder seven years ago decided to give her a chance. After hearing that there were some shakeups happening with the Morello family, the FBI has decided to take advantage of the Don’s death and insert an undercover agent to get her information about the new Don and how he is running things. A few agents were sent into try to earn a spot within the Morellos’ circle, however Malia was the only one to successfully be brought in.
  
  Serving as a fixer for the Morellos named Leandra Tedesco, Malia’s mission is simply to observe the family in order to gain more information and report it back to the FBI, who are building a larger case against the Morellos. Her supervisors have made it very clear that she not do anything reckless and try to take things into her own hands.   Malia has been undercover living as Leandra and working for the Morellos for a few months now. So far she’s worked to fix some public image stuff and hide a few crimes here and there, but nothing that’s gotten her hands too dirty yet. For the most part, she’s made herself useful to the Don and others by dealing with tasks they don’t want to. Such as the logistics for large dinners, parties, or sit downs. Or dealing with the fallout of the Don’s divorce and his soon to be ex. Making sure the publicity their casinos and hotels get is good, and burying the bad gossip.   Unbeknownst to Malia, her father wasn’t the upstanding citizen and judge that she thought he was. He’d already been involved with the Morellos long before the fated case that caused the Augustine Family to be murdered. In fact, the FBI had approached Robert with an ultimatum- face jail time for his affiliation with the Morellos, or turn on them and earn immunity. Robert was promised that after the trial he and his family would be placed under witness protection. Unfortunately, a couple days before the trial it was somehow leaked that Robert was a rat, and he and his family were taken out, allegedly by someone affiliated with the Morello family. Unfortunately, after evidence went missing, nothing could ever be proven.   In his youth, Vietto was a pretty laidback guy. He didn’t have to earn his place, so his work ethic could have used a little work. Vietto would have rather been riding his motorcycle on a desert highway than working, but he did what he was told by the Don and his father. While lazy, Vietto hadn’t fucked up any of his assignments and was charming enough when he got in trouble to keep him from being dismissed or put in the ground. Over the years though, Vietto has grown up into a responsible man who has earned the title of underboss.
  
  These days he puts the Salvatore family’s needs before his own, for the most part. He still has a selfish streak that comes out every now and then, particularly if he’s been drinking. All in all though, he realizes that the younger generation will take over for the Don someday, and has put his playboy days behind him. Now he is more interested in business than just money and getting laid. Still, Vietto can be a flirt, but hates rejection so typically pursues women he thinks are sure bets.
  
  The dark side of Vietto comes out when he’s drunk, and he loses control of his temper. He’s currently a month sober, and trying to stay on the wagon, which is difficult in this lifestyle. Fortunately, he doesn’t need alcohol to have a good time.

  Vietto never knew the father he was named after, having been raised by his mother and uncle, who served as a de facto father figure. His uncle, Rio, was was the Underboss for the Salvatores, so Vietto grew up in the world of crime and money. From a young age Vietto showed little interest in following his uncle’s footsteps, but when Rio caught a couple bullets in the back and was paralyzed from the waist down, he campaigned for his nephew to take his place once he was trained. Vietto reluctantly accepted his new role, learning from his uncle and serving as the muscle to the immobilized Rio’s brain. Though this was not a responsibility he had wanted to take on, Vietto grew up into a man under his uncle’s advisory.

Gemma is the last born Salvatore, and she's definitely the wildest of the bunch. With her older brother and sister, she's always been well protected and well cared for. A daddy's girl to the bone, she always used that and her family's position and power to her advantage, even from a young age. She's got quite a mouth on her, not a filter anywhere in her brain. She never really got along with her mother, since the two never connected in the way a mother and daughter should. Having been in the mob lifestyle for so long, the woman knew there was very little place for sensitivity, even for her only daughter.

Gemma spent many years of her childhood trying to establish that connection with her mother. Trying to impress her and be on her good side, but it seemed that no matter what Gem did, it was never good enough. Tessa Salvatore was never the loving type; she knows the mob business in and out, and Gemma can probably count on one hand the times she saw the woman smile, or even got a hug from her.

It was when Gemma became a teenager that the rebellion actually started to show. She never went completely out of line, as it was made clear that she would be excommunicated without remorse. But Gem continuously toed that line, causing more tension between her and the family, her mother especially. But with her father wrapped around her finger, Gemma's rebellious streak only widened as she got older. This led to her having a secret fling with one of her father's men when she was around 17. The guy was young, in his early 20s, and Gemma really did fall for him.

But when she turned out to be pregnant, somehow her family found out. Gemma was forced to get rid of her child, and the guy disappeared from the family home, never to be seen or heard from again. Gemma has no idea if he's even alive or dead, and has no way of getting in touch with him or anyone to find out. Her family definitely won't tell her. She sank into a depression after that, her mood swings off the chart, almost uncontrollable. She's since calmed down, but only slightly.

Antonio is the first born of the Salvatore children, and because of this, he was expected to be the heir. Despite his reckless nature that portrayed itself even as a child, his father had high hopes for his son. They would come to find out later that Antonio was and would never be in any shape to be an heir, but since they didn't know this at the time, Antonio was brought up as his father had been. His mother wasn't the touchy feely type, and neither was the Salvatore Don. Antonio learned from a young age what his father was, what his family was. He attended meetings, saw things no child should ever see. Perhaps that was the reason he rebelled so young, or perhaps it was just engrained in him.

Either way, Tony knew that being the next Don wasn't what he wanted. He slacked off any chance he got, showed his ass at the wrong times, and got severely punished for it. But even the punishments weren't enough to put him back on the right track. As soon as he was old enough, he started spending more time away from home, usually over at a friends house or roaming the neighborhood. Much like his younger sister Gemma, he used his family's name to his advantage. That didn't mean he didn't get his ass kicked at times, but he learned to fight back, and usually came out on top. Again, this led to punishments by his father, who still held onto the hope that his son would turn himself around and take his job as heir seriously. It wouldn't happen.

He just got wilder and wilder. There's only a couple people who can reign him in, one of those being his sister Gia. The other is the Salvatore underboss, Vietto. There are few others who can stop him from being a jackass like they can. He's made it clear to his father that he doesn't want to take over, hence why his father arranged the marriage for Gemma. While he doesn't agree with it, Tony can't help but feel relieved that the weight isn't on his shoulders anymore. It gives him more time to go out and party, getting drunk on this or high on that, sleeping with anyone he wants. His father threatens to cut him off at least a handful of times a week, but Tony likes to think he won't. So he continues his party lifestyle, only reigning himself in when absolutely necessary.

Valentina Esposito was born to Giorgio Esposito and Madeline Blake. They were relatively young parents, in their mid-20s at the time of Val's birth. But their relationship was anything but normal. Madeline was a young professional, up and coming in the field of fashion. She came from a wealthy family had a promising future ahead of her, an internship at a big-name fashion house in New York City, and a side business selling her handmade designs. Giorgio, however, couldn't be any more different. He barely graduated high school, had been in and out of trouble since an early age, and just happened to be descended from a long line of criminals. The Esposito family had served the Morello crime family for generations, generally as a higher-up or even the underboss/second-in-command. So, it was only natural that Val followed in his footsteps.

Giorgio and Madeline met at a casino. She was in Vegas for a friend's bachelorette party, he was working as an enforcer for a small-time loan scheme. A few drinks in, and they found themselves between the sheets of Madeline's luxurious hotel bed. The following morning, they parted ways civilly. It was a fun night, but that was all it would be. Or so they thought. Madeline would learn a couple of months later that she was pregnant. She had her whole life ahead of her, and she wasn't about to let it be ruined by a child. She worked from home, stayed out of the public eye for the most part, and kept the pregnancy a secret from everyone, even her family. Just a mere few weeks after Valentina was born, Madeline returned to Las Vegas, found Giorgio, and left the infant with him. That was the last time Valentina saw her mother.

Growing up without a maternal figure wasn't easy for Val. Her father did his best to take care of her with the help of the others in the family. But he didn't have any idea what he was doing, and so he raised her as his father had raised him: to be a trusted soldier of the Morellos. As a woman in a crime family, Valentina had to work harder than her male counterparts to earn respect. She had to have better aim, quicker movements, more strategic hand-to-hand combat skills. Regardless of how successful she was on the jobs she was sent out to do, she was criticized for every minor misstep, told she wasn't cold enough, brushed off. Still, Giorgio taught his daughter to be brave, independent, intuitive, and a perfectionist. And so, regardless of what the other, lower-level Morello soldiers said and did to her, Val continued to come out on top.

Despite her unorthodox upbringing, Valentina wouldn't change it for the world. She had a built-in family with the Morellos and her father's higher-up friends. She and Giorgio were super close, a father-daughter dynamic duo. And that was why his untimely death hit her so hard. The worst part was that he wasn't even killed for being an underboss or a Morello. No, h was killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, gunned down in a convenience store at night. Shot in the back before he even knew what was going on by some low life who wanted to rob the place and thought the older man buying a soda was a threat. That was the day that Valentina Esposito changed. Her heart became stone, closed off from the rest of the world. After she learned of what happened, she immediately went after the shooter. And when she found him, she did what he couldn't: she made him look her in the eye as she put her barrel to his forehead, saw the look of fear just before she pulled the trigger.

That very same day, Valentina was appointed the new underboss to the Morellos, following in her father's footsteps. No one dares disrespect her anymore, and God pity the fool who gets on her bad side.

Lucius Vietto didn't have an easy childhood in any sense of the word. His father, Gregory Vietto II was an insatiable lady's man, spending all day drinking and betting what little money he had at the casinos. At night, he usually found a woman to take him home, either through his good looks and charm, or because he was the high roller of the day. The latter was how he met Rosaria Cavaletti. Young, brunette, and absolutely stunning, she had made her way to Las Vegas shortly after graduating high school with hopes of becoming a showgirl. However, she didn't have much money and, after spending everything she had on moving and renting a studio apartment in a not-so-great part of town, she was forced to turn to sex work to make enough money to get by. She was a few years into new work when she met Gregory at a local casino. He was winning big at the roulette table, and she knew then that he would be an easy mark. But she certainly didn't expect the consequences.

When Rosa found out she was pregnant, she immediately went to Gregory and told him. Because he had already gotten another woman pregnant the year before and he ran, Greg felt a bit guilty. And so, though he was never going to take full custody or responsibility of a kid, he and Rosaria decided to co-parent. The real problem was that neither of them knew how to parent. They didn't change any part of their lifestyle. Gregory still went to the casinos and drank all day, Rosaria still worked the men at night. From a young age, Lucius was required to fend for himself. He learned to microwave canned or frozen meals as a toddler and could cook on the stove by elementary school. He walked himself to and from school as early as kindergarten. He even found out how to take money from his father's wallet while he was passed out to pay for school lunches. The relationship Gregory and Rosaria had was open, each still sleeping with other people. Eventually, they did get married, realizing that the tax benefits of marriage and a child dependent were worth it.

By middle school, Luca was already getting in trouble. Stealing from the corner stores, drinking and smoking with his friends, even dabbling with illegal drugs. By high school, he had spent his fair share of time in juvenile detention, to which his parents were notified but didn't care to help or bail him out. To them, juvie meant free babysitting and meals for their kid. By high school, Luca had been suspended several times and was on the verge of expulsion. While skipping school one day freshman year, he ended up in a particularly rough part of town, trying to make a buy. It was then that he stumbled upon a deal gone wrong. A couple of guys were ganging up on a single kid, about the same age as Luca. Something in him switched, almost like he blacked out. When he came to, the assailants were rolling and groaning on the ground, bleeding and injured, while the kid and Lucius stood over them with bloodied fists. The kid happened to be Sandro Morello, and that was Luca's first interaction with the Morello family.

They took him in, treated him better than his parents ever had. They saw potential in him when no one else did. Especially in his ability to just turn things off. Eventually, Lucius dropped out of high school, settling on getting his GED instead. He focused everything on being the best soldier the Morello's had ever seen, a common goal for those they raised from adolescence. He was only 18 when he made his first kill, something he was somehow able to disconnect from. He was apathetic, able to switch off his mind so that he wouldn't be affected by it later. At least, not consciously. When the Don died and Sandro took over, it was only natural that Luca become his consigliere, his most loyal adviser and friend. It was his destiny.
