IMANI A. PRINCE
BASICS
Name: Imani Azalea Prince
Nickname(s): Mani, NiNi
Age: 17
Year: Junior
Birthday: February 22nd
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Twitter Handle: @manibear
Club/Society Memberships: Track (Sprinter), The Hens
APPEARANCE
Height: 5'3
Weight: 132 lbs
Eye Color: Light Brown
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Body Modifications: Imani has gotten two cartilage piercings that are identical on both of her ears. She's had her earlobes pieced since birth, but decide to pierce her upper earlobes as well. Her final piercing appears on her stomach, as she finally got a belly button piercing on her 16th birthday.
Distinguishing Features: Imani's dark and smooth skin has always been distinguishing enough for her, but she has a light dimple on her right cheek when she smiles.
Style: Imani loves fashion, but in a more casual and lowkey sense. She'd rather wear the newest edition of Jordan's than buy a new pair of Christian Louboutin heel's. It's safe to say she knows how to pair an outfit, but unlike many other girls her age she'd rather not wear a dress or heels. Jean jackets, ripped jeans, tube tops, even tracksuits are all in her domain, but a dress is most definitely not.
PERSONA:
Imani is a real softy, and would put anyone's happiness before hers in a heartbeat. She's shy during first introductions, but once you get closer to her she'll slowly and progressively start to open up. Her grades never fall short of exceptional and she's always set high goals for herself, so laziness isn't in her dictionary. She has a smile that could brighten a whole room, and when she's lively she loves to crack jokes and make people laugh. Although she could fit in to the stereotypical rich kid, she was too much of a shy kid growing up that she chose against the latter. Cheer and track has pushed her more into the scene and she's relatively popular, but she's too kind and quiet to ever make a scene like many other students with the same title.
When looking at another dimension of Imani, you see a girl who's still reserved to others. She's friendly around people, but she's more of an observer at first which made it harder at young ages for her to socialize and make friends. Sleep is another word that is nonexistent in Imani's dictionary, and her insomnia stems from the constant arguing in her home when she was younger due to her parents differences. Since going to Black Mill her sleep schedule still has not been corrected and there have been many occasions where she's been sent back to her dorm because she looked sleep deprived, but she has somewhat perfected the act of hiding her sleep deficiency. Since she is timid she tends to take what people say to heart because if they didn't mean it they wouldn't have said it, but the introvert in her wouldn't allow her to confront anyone. Her brain seems like her worst enemy when she's alone because it just repeats the words her parents said when they found out she was bisexual, but on the bright side she hasn't fallen into the pit of self-harm.
Likes: music, dancing, watching sports, the beach, romcoms, disney movies, dogs, clothes, shoes, singing, reading
Dislikes: homophobes, racists, cats, sushi, casserole, drama, being the center of attention, her parents
HISTORY:
On February 22nd, Imani Azalea Prince was born to Diane and Jeremy Prince. Her two parents had never actually wanted to get married or stay together, but once Diane realized she was pregnant after a hookup with Jeremy the two were forced to wed so Imani wouldn't be deemed a bastard child. Her father, a reputable businessman, and her mother, a top notch lawyer, had tried for years to at least pretend as if there was love between the two, but everything came crashing down when Jeremy admitted he had stepped out of their marriage. Diane had no love for the man, but she was enraged due to the disrespect she felt was directed towards her and all hell rained in the Prince home from that day on.
It only got worse when Jeremy began to bring his mistresses into their family home, and the room that he shared with Diane, but the two couldn't divorce is what they always said. It was never how is our daughter affected by all this, rather how would our names look in the news if this all got out. Don't get it twisted, Diane and Jeremy Prince loved their little darkskin princess with all their heart, but they were rather oblivious to the toll all their bickering was taking on Imani. The many different woman she had seen walk with father into their home, right in front of her mother to commit their sinful acts on the same bed her mother laid on at night. At least their mass amount of wealth made it easier as she got older to disappear into the many rooms of the Prince manor, but she still heard and saw it all.
As a child, Imani was always more reserved than the other children and was too timid to strike conversations. Her teachers constantly repeated the fact that every child is different to her parents, and they shouldn't urge her out of her shell but they didn't listen. Although they meant well, the way the approached the topic of her shyness always made it seem as if Imani was born with a defect. The older she got, the more she forced herself to try harder to socialize and leave her little bubble, but it seemed it was never enough for her parents. She'd say she made two new friends and their response would always be "why not four?". What they didn't know was that being a darkskin girl at prestigious private schools made her subject to bullying and children saying she didn't belong, but Imani would never say anything. It was always easier for her to just say it was her fault than point out that there may have been some foul play.
Even with her timidness, church every Sunday was a must and it was a Sunday when she was thirteen that she met her first girlfriend, Alex. She was a lightskin girl who had just moved to the church, and unlike everyone else she didn't seem to have a problem with Imani's quietness. The two went everywhere together and she was Imani's first kiss, everything was perfect. It wasn't until her parents found out and they had a fit of outrage that she had fear in her eyes while looking at the two. They called her an abomination and disgrace, forbidding her from interacting with Alex since she "destroyed" their precious little girl. Imani tried to reassure them by letting them know she was bisexual, and she just liked both genders but it just earned her a slap from her father. That confrontation with her parents haunts her to date, and it was one of the reasons she was scared to come out in sophomore year.
Her parents decided that since she was going to high school the year after, it be better to send her to a school where she would dorm there and be far away from Alex. Since prestigious and expensive school's were the only type she was allowed to attend, Black Mill was where she was hauled of to and has been attending for three years now. Coming home from school is always dreadful and she can't find it in her to forgive her parents, but she'd never speak out her thoughts. Their choice was rather stupid when you look at the type of school Black Mill truly is, but she had grown accustomed here. New friends, new Imani who wasn't always quiet, and new hobbies including track. Dance and gymnastics had always been a part of her, as well as singing, but she was too cared to sing in front of others so joining The Hens where she could utilize dance and gymnastics was ideal. Track was more or less just a time filler, but she enjoyed running and she was pretty darn good as well.
