Bittersweet Revenge

Slader laughed and shook his head quickly. "I hesitated on cute because I'm sure there are more appropriate words for it. Like hot. Sexy, etc." He clarified.

Derek glanced over at Cambree and smirked. "So this is the product of Slader's first 'girlfriend'. Well done, man." He laughed, slapping Slader on the back.

Rolling his eyes, Slader blew some smoke away from Cam before putting it out and kissing her forehead.

Cambree smiled and laughed, taking a step away from her. "I can do with those," She told him with a grin. She didn't mind being called sexy or hot, especially when it came from him.

Her eyes shifted over to Derek and she grinned a little bit. "We're not dating," She informed him before glaring playfully at Slader with a little smirk on her lips,"He's too wimp to ask me out." She was only messing with him. She didn't really care about their title. The fact that he was there was enough for her.

She moved closer to him again and leaned against him. "Are you busy today?" She asked him curiously, wanting to know if he had any plans before she asked him what she wanted to.

Slader brushed off her teasing and glanced down at her. "Not that I'm aware of. I was probably just going to get high, but I'll reschedule. Why?" He asked.

A group of sophomore girls walked past, giggling at Slader and Derek. Derek grinned mischievously and caught up to them, immediately beginning to flirt.

"He's such a tease. He'd never actually date one of them or anything. Poor little things," he muttered.

"You can still do that," Cambree assured him. Her focus was pulled away from Slader and towards the group of young girls who walked by and she laughed a little bit.

"It's a shame; they don't even know," She agreed with a nod before looking back to Slader. At least she knew when she was getting mixed up with Slader that he was a player. He was different now though.

"I was going to look at apartments," She continued on with why she'd asked in the first place,"And I thought maybe you'd want to come... If you still wanted to like, move in together and stuff.." It was so weird saying... The idea of them living together. She wasn't sure which was more weird though. That or her being pregnant with some living, breathing thing.

Slader flicked his eyes back to Cambree, a smile dancing across his features. "Yeah, that'd be fun." He replied. "Of course I still want to. I'm kind of committed now," he teased, ruffling her hair before brushing her lips with a soft kiss. He didn't want to kiss her too hard, his breathe still smelled of cigarettes.

"The bell is going to ring, let's head in." He said softly to her. Then, to Derek, "Yo! Asshat, let's go! Leave the poor confused girls alone and get moving ya bastard!" He called out, quickly ushering Cam through the door.

Cambree smiled happily when he agreed to going with her and then assured her that he was still all for moving in with him. She poked his abs excitedly a few times and then kissed him back softly. She'd gotten use to the smell of the smoke and she'd even ended up trying it a few times at parties so it wasn't really the worse thing in the world.

She giggled at what he said to Derek and walked ahead of him, heading through the door to the hallway. "I hate school," She noted, looking around the hallways. She was so happy to be almost done. These last few days were boring as hell. It was weird though that they'd be leaving this place behind for good after being here for four years of their lives. She was ready to move on to bigger and better things though.

Slader nodded. "I completely agree." He responded as a few girls shot flirtatious smiles his way. "Ugh, that's so annoying." He muttered.

It used to be nice, but for some odd reason it was beginning to annoy him a bunch. It no longer phased him when girls asked him for his number, he just moved on.

"Alright, imma get to class. I'll see to after school," he kissed her cheek and walked to class. People typically made way for him; he was 6 foot 2, muscular, and a bit imposing. Or they thought he was too hot for his own good and they needed to move. Slader sighed.

Cambree made a face, watching a few girls who looked their way. She knew it was to be expected. He was the Slader after all. "Maybe if I pee on you and mark my territory, they'll fuck off," She joked with him, bumping into him as they walked through the hallway.

She grinned and nodded. "I'll see you," She agreed before parting ways with him and heading to her class. She smiled at a few friends that she passed, then headed into her English room and took her assigned seat. Only three more days... Just three more days and then I'm free...

Slader was waiting out by his truck when school had ended. His last period teacher somehow loved him, and let him out screw minutes earlier.

The bell had rung a few minutes ago, and a few people had accumulated around him and his truck. Derek, Jack, the blonde, and two other girls who were looking for a good time with one of the guys.

"Sooo... Slader, you free tonight?" One of them drawled as she moved to touch his chest. He tensed, and backed away. "Sorry, I'm actually busy. Derek will screw you though." He responded before quickly moving out of the circle.

Cambree walked out of the school and headed in the direction of where Slader's truck was always parked. Even though they drove separately, they both still talked after school to discuss their plans and whatever else. As she approached, she rolled her eyes, seeing some stupid girl hanging all over him. There was always that little doubt in her mind that he'd take one of them up on their offer. Lucky for her, he never fell for any of their little tricks.

She smiled to herself when he stared away from the girl. She strolled up to him and instead of saying hello, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down for one hell of a passionate kiss. She pulled away after a minute and smiled at up him, then looked over at the group of girls with like a 'really bitch?' face and a smirk. "Did you want to drive or me?" She asked, turning her attention back to Slader.

Slader, surprised, gasped a little as she pulled him down for a kiss. His hands instinctively found her waist, sliding down and grabbing her hips for leverage.

"Umm..I..." He glanced over at the girls. Their 'ugh' noises and rolling of eyes made him want to laugh. "I'll drive. Just please behave," he mumbled with a laugh as he opened the passenger side door for her.

"Sorry ladies, gents, I have stuff to do. Enjoy yourselves." He winked at his two friends and slid around to start up the truck.

Cambree smirked a little bit to herself, listening to Slader as she walked around to his side of the car. "They deserved it," She told him simply as she got in. She closed the door, then buckled up and waited for Slader.

She waved goodbye to Derek and Jack, mostly because it bothered them that they were stealing their little Slader away and then sighed happily as she leaned back into her seat. "Sooo. There's a lot to look at. I just didn't know how far or close you wanted to be from here," She began. They could move towns all together and start new but she didn't know. She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she'd be moving out with him and having a child..

Slader glanced over at her a moment as he pulled out of the parking lot. He passed a tired hand over his face, noting the stubble that was covering his chin. He should shave, but that took effort.

"Really, it's up to you. My dad could care less, and it's not like I particularly like this place that much anyways. Whatever you want to do." He replied, turning onto Main.

"Where to?"

Cambree pursed her lips in thought, trying to decide which one of the ones she'd look at on the internet last night we be best to start with. "There's one at 32nd and Wright we could check out," She suggested, looking over at him with a grin.

She couldn't believe that they were actually doing this. It was so weird. Still weird, even though it'd been nearly a month since they'd decided to stick together through this whole thing. Maybe it'd get more real when you could actually tell that she was pregnant.

Slader nodded and turned left, heading toward 32nd. After driving a few blocks, he turned onto the street then found Wright, and with it the apartment complex.

He pulled into one of the parking spots and shut off the ignition. Taking in a deep breath, he turned to Cambree with a slight smile. "Alright. Let's do this."

He opened his door and got out of the truck, walking around to open her door for her

Cambree grinned when Slader opened up the door for her. She hopped out, stood on her tip toes to kiss him on the lips.

"Are you sure you're not going to pass out with all of this relationship stuff?" She asked him teasingly with a smile, interlacing her fingers with his.

This was kind of a big deal. Most people didn't move in with each other until they were dating for a pretty long time, and usually they were older.

Slader sighed, arching his back to stretch it. "Don't remind me," he replied before shooting her a soft smile.

In truth, it was a lot for him to wrap his head around, but he'd be okay. He just needed a drink. "I'll be okay. Just don't... Get mad at me if I can't immediately stop my habits. That's not changing for a long time, or I may go insane." Last time he tried to stop, he got terrible withdrawals.

He began walking toward the main office building, pullig Cam behind him.

Cambree giggled and narrowed her eyes playfully at him.

She shook her head. "No, I know. You can do whatever you want. I'm not here to stop you or control or whatever. 420 blaze to your heart's content," She told him with a little grin. Sure, the idea of him being drunk or high all the time while trying to figure out how to raise a kid wasn't the best, but as long as he wasn't sleeping around she'd be fine.

She walked along with him to the leasing office. She walked inside with him with a smile. She was absolutely terrified but kind of excited too. When one of the leasing agents come over to her, she grinned and asked if they could see one of their two bedrooms. She kind of just assumed Slader would be cool with sharing a bedroom and she'd feel silly asking.

The agent lead them to a nice, somewhat small-ish apartment. There was two bedrooms, a living space attached to a kitchen, and a patio since it was on the ground floor.

Slader leaned against the nearest wall. He'd let Cambree deal with this, he didn't have much of a preference.

"What do you think?" The agent asked the two of them, eyes eager.

Once in the apartment, Cambree took a good look around. It wasn't bad or anything, but she wasn't super wowed either.

She crossed her arms and looked over at Slader who already looked bored and then looked back to the agent with a smile. "It's lovely but we still have a few more to look at," She responded.

The agent and the couple walked out with them, they said their goodbyes, and they headed back to the car.

---

Slader stood on the back deck, cigarette in hand, eyes closed. Cambree and himself had picked an apartment that was twenty minutes away from their high school. It was on the second floor, and had a back balcony sort of thing.

It was his escape; not that it was tough living with her. Just the whole raising a kid thing was crashing down on him now that you could visibly see she was pregnant.

Sighing, he took another puff of his cigarette and ran a finger over the railing, his mind racing.

Cambree was standing in their bedroom, looking at herself in the full length mirror. She was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and sadly, you could obviously tell now that she was pregnant. Because she was so damn skinny, it didn't seem to matter what she wore, you could always see the now obvious baby bump on her lean body.

It was starting to hit her like a ton of bricks. Maybe she really wasn't ready for this. Like, she been reading books and researching and talking to her reluctant mother but she still felt like she didn't know what to fuck she was doing.

She turned to her side and bit down on her lip, looking at herself. She just didn't feel prettier anymore either. She was use to being this stupercute, lean chick with boobs and an ass and now she just felt like a stupid, fat teenager...

She frowned and ran a hand through her hair, taking a deep breath.

After putting out his cigarette, Slader turned and pushed open the screen door, closing it behind him. He began walking toward the kitchen, but noticed a distressed Cambree out of the corner of his eye.

To afford the apartment, he had gotten a job down at a mechanics shop where Derek worked. It was Saturday, so he was home.

"You alright?" He asked Cam as he came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and leaning his chin on the top of her head. "You look cute."

Cambree grinned slightly when Slader walked up behind her but was still biting her lip. I was nice having him around, it really was... She was doubt it sometimes. It seemed like he didn't totally want to be there. Not that she could blame him.

"That," She answered,"I'm "cute"..." She sighed deeply, knowing that it was really stupid. Yeah, she was gaining weight but she had a reason. It wasn't like she was just packing on the pounds for the hell of it. "I'm not pretty anymore," She told him quietly, feeling her eyes well up with tears. Ugh, it was so stupid. She was literally the exact some person but with a baby bump. She was pretty sure it was just the idea of actually, seriously being pregnant that was freaking her out. She blinked her eyes quickly a few times and looked away from the mirror. She was just doubting everything.

Slader turned her around to face him, his hands reaching up to hold her face. "You definitely are," he whispered. "This doesn't change that." He added after running a hand gently over her stomach.

He leaned down and gently connected their lips, his hand moving from her cheek to her neck. "It'll be okay. I'm not going anywhere."

Slader grabbed her hand and pulled her to the kitchen. He poured them each a glass of soda and grabbed some chips and led her toward the couch.

He put the food and drinks on the coffee table and pulled her on top of him. "Still sexy as hell." He murmured, the end of his lip curling up.
