Setting

Set in the sleepy town of Frostwood in 2010, players find themselves divided into two opposing factions...

- The Pack -
Elusive and mysterious, the Pack are the unlucky few who still carry on the curse of the First. Doomed to shift painfully into a wolf when the temperatures begin to drop, these poor individuals have found each other despite the harsh reality of their lives. Abandoned by their families, they live in a 'community' home, located deep in the woods. While they interact with the humans of the town, they tend to keep the relationships short and sweet. Through trial and error, discoveries about the curse that plagues them have been discovered.

1. The curse can only be spread through bites in the wolf form. Over the course of a week, the bitten will painfully shift back and forth between their forms regardless of the temperature. The shifts are random, and it's nearly impossible to predict when they'll happen. Hence, newly bit individuals are kept under close watch at the home.

2. The first few shifts are always the most painful. Overtime, it becomes less and less painful to the individual. Still, however, every shift brings some amount of pain.

3. Everyone stops shifting once they turn thirty. No one knows why, and there's no known cure to stop this. Moving to warmer climates may delay the permanent shift, but one will shift instantly at the first presence of slight cold.

4. Only select older Pack members may turn others. Anyone else who turns someone will be punished.

5. There are hunters. They're looking specifically for the cursed, so be wary. Always stick with the pack. Trust no humans truly.

- The Guild -
Formed long ago, these hunters are trained to rid the world of the curse that plagues it. The unnatural wolves of the cold must be exterminated, before they spread their disease throughout the world. Young and athletic, the Guild is filled with eager hunters ready to cleanse the world of these non human abominations. Trained with several different weapons, all hunters are trained to spot Pact members in both their human and wolf forms. Though they've recently been quiet, the surge in wolves has caused them to resurfaced. It's only a matter of time before the first life is claimed, and another trophy is added to their lodge.

As a Guild member, it's important you uphold the rules of the faction. You are the last line of defense between this curse, and the rest of the world.

1. Show no mercy. These creatures may act human, and they may look human, but they're cold-blooded killers in the end.
2. Never reveal your status to the humans of the town. They mustn't know of the wolves.
3. Always bring back a trophy. A fang, some of their pelt, or even their human body. Bring it back for the Guide.
4. Hunt alone. The wolves are wary when they smell groups, so it's best to hunt by yourself.
5. If you can, follow one of them back. They're slippery, but they must be living somewhere during the summer.

If you have any questions about the lore, please ask it in the OOC thread! I'll be happy to answer them there. Please refer to the rules below.

Rules of Bitter Winters
1. Follow the guidelines of RPNation. (Duh) If you're seen breaking any of the rules, you'll be removed from the RP.
2. We're looking for a minimum of at least ten sentences per post. Of course, exceptions can be made. Still, it's good to keep in mind this amount when writing, so everyone will be giving and receiving the same amount of effort in their RP.
3. Character sheets are required. You may stylize them anyway you want, but you must be able to present a literate sheet for reference.

4. Be literate in posts. Complete sentences, with minimum grammatical mistakes. (Again, slightly more lenient on grammatical mistakes, as they do happen in RPs.)
5. Be mature.
6. Do not force relationships IC. It can make people uncomfortable, so it's always best to ask permission about those sorts of things. Pushing to have a relationship from day one is inappropriate, and can upset the mood of the RP.
7. Be semi-active.
8. Have fun! This is supposed to be a fun writing activity for all, so if something is making you upset, don't
hesitate to reach out to me!
