β the lore
A gentle echoing of footsteps on stone, the sounds of flickering flames as they devour the pale wax, leaving behind nothing but a lingering scent. Music can be heard floating on the air as mist seems to fill the head of anyone who is out of bed. The moon is full and quietly leading a girl through the school, down the hall, and through a dark corridor, only accompanied by the small candle clasped in her hand. A ghost of a smile stains her lips as she twirls and dancing along to the instruments, letting every beautiful moment fill her completely. It gets so intoxicating that the girl doesnβt even notice the door closing behind her nor the teeth that sink into her flesh without a second to waste. It is done. The sacrifice has been collected.
The University of Lioncourt is practically as old as time. The large buildingβs architecture is similar to that of a castle and its grounds extend quite far, allowing the students the peace and quiet that comes with attending school on an estate. There has always been mystery surrounding this school as it never seems to age and even the students themselves all seem very similar. There is a certain air to it when you step onto the campus, almost as if it suspended in time. You feel transported in the best of ways and you donβt ever want to leave. Naturally, itβs not surprising that this esteemed university attracted Europeβs finest scholars that are looking to learn in a unique environment that takes them right back to the year of their major. Whether itβs Greek studies or literature, every major and department seems to send you into a time machine, allowing you to fall deeper into what can only be deemed a fairy tale.
Now while education here is in the top 5% of the entire country, there is more to it than meets the eye. Rumors and whispers linger within the walls of the school, only spread between the students of it as nobody outside will believe them. Thereβs talk of ghosts, ghouls, witches, and vampires constantly floating around alongside the frantic concern about students that disappear without a trace, nor memory of their existence outside of the student body. Everyone at the school knows to be careful, not to prod or dig too deep because they could very well be next. Unsure of what lay hidden behind closed doors or secret passageways, there are strict rules in place to keep students out of trouble. They are not allowed to leave their dorms past 10 PM and nobody is to be out of bed any earlier than 6 AM. The diet of every student is constantly monitored along with their health, both physically and mentally. Jobs are provided on campus for those who need them and letters are always encouraged to be written to family members that donβt get to see their children that often. The rules are necessary to survive, and the students are very cautious about following them. Well, most of the students.
This roleplay is focusing on the lives of a literature club within the University of Lioncourt when one of their members (and friend), Katherine Ainsworth, goes missing. Missing students is relatively normal within the school but literally, nobody talks about it, not even the families of the missing students. So it gets swept under the rug and people tend to forget about it. However, what makes this time different is that another member of the club saw Katherine disappear seemingly behind a wall that was never there in the first place. So they start investigating and digging into the mysteries surrounding their school. As they dig and get closer to the truth, they are bringing themselves within the grasp of death itself. You can learn more about the mysterious forces at work when the lore page is up!
