I've always loved the tale of Peter Pan and the variations that come with it. A lot of ways to tell the tale of an immortal boy whisking people off to a land where they do not age. Fantasy creatures, pirates, and a mystery island full of adventure. This has sparked me to have a variety of ideas, or twists on the tale itself. Ranging from focusing on different characters. Peter as a villain and Captain Hook as a hero twisted by stories and tales to be made the villain by a young boy wishing to assert his power. All the way to changing Neverland to a gang fuel city in the 1920's. Peter and Hook rival gang leaders trying to run the city. I will share a few twists on the story I have and feel free to bring your own. Or twist up other fairytales.
Lets cover the basics first. A bit about me, a bit about what I'm looking for in a partner. You know the drill.
- I love to dive into darker themes. Violence, foul language, use of illicit substance, and more. Of course keeping it site friendly. Characters what to do the dirty deed its lights out and we move on. That being said I much prefer my roleplay partners to be above the age of 18. And all main characters we play in the RP will be over the age of 18 as well. Side characters can be under the age.
- A roleplay is a story between two people. We work together to make the plot move. To keep the story going. To help both our characters grow. 50/50 is what I ask for.
- I am ghost friendly. I'm guilty of it. A variety of health and mental issues make it hard for me. I try my best to tell people I'm not interested and ask the same is done to me. However I will not fault you for just dropping. We are human. Life happens. Or we merely do not mesh as roleplay partners. That is all.
- More than happy to double, triple, or more for the story. Multiple characters can keep things going.
- I'm friendly. I like to OOC chat.
- As stated above. I deal with chronic health issues. I don't always post daily. I don't always answer OOC PM's daily. I also have a life outside of things. Monday's I play dungeons and dragons. I am in a fairly active guild on WoW and we do shit a lot. Evenings I am sometimes too busy to post, but during the day I am often chilling out and not doing much. Maybe just sleeping or at a variety of doctors that I have to see all the damn time.
- Ideas will most likely be written as heterosexual pairings. However I am more than happy to change the pairings up and am LGBTQ+ friendly. I am non binary myself. A NAP as my partner likes to say. (non binary, asexual, poly-romantic) Don't be afraid to ask to change up the pairings.
The first twist on Peter Pan.
Neverland has always been Peter's playground. The Lost Boys taken from around the world and follow him without question. He plays on their love for adventure, games, and violence. From time to time one steps out of line with Peter and they seem to disappear from the island or they are victims of one of Peter's many games. They still eagerly follow the young man and his pixie companion. No one quiet knows if Peter is human or if he is something else. Another creature that might have darker desires on his mind.
James Hook and the pirates of the Jolly Roger arrived at Neverland years ago. They are unsure how long it has been, but they have been victims of Peter and the Lost Boys many times. It lead to the unfortunate event in which Hook lost his hand and it was fed to a gator by Peter as he taunted the pirate. He had seen his men killed off in games. Found men washed up on shore after being dragged to Neverland for whatever reason Peter has. Taking them into the crew and teaching them about Neverland and its dangers.
Wendy Darling and her brothers were stuck in a war torn home. Hiding away as the bombs and fighting happened around them. Their father at war, they weren't sure if he was alive or not. Their mother hadn't come back after going to aid their neighbors. They were hungry and scared. Wendy doing her best to protect her siblings. Their shelter opened, fearing it was enemy soldiers, Wendy was ready to fight. Only to see the glow of a pixie and the young man enter. Saying he could take them away from the war. To somewhere filled with laughter and happy thoughts. Somewhere safe. Whisked off to Neverland, Wendy didn't think twice about it.
Michael and John were happy in Neverland. They were able to be young boys. Play in the mud, learn to fight with swords, and adventure on the island. Peter showed Wendy around, she met the mermaids and the other natives of the island. He pointed out the pirate ship that sat out in the endless blue ocean around them. Saying that Captain Hook was dangerous and to not let her guard down when it came to pirates. They went out and spent time together, just the two of them. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. The dates with Peter were less frequent until they didn't happen anymore. Wendy cooked and cleaned up after the Lost Boys more than anything else.
And then John disappeared. Never coming back from an outing with Peter. Michael not saying anything. Wendy wanting to get to the bottom of it and is looking to what happened to her brother. Finding Peter's dirty secret. The bodies. John with them. Michael not wanting to leave as Wendy tried to get him and Peter starting to grow frustrated with her.
So she turned to the one person who might be able to help her. Peter's sworn enemy. Captain Hook.
Captain Hook has grown tired of fighting against Peter Pan and the Lost Boys. Neverland isn't their home and it never would be. The crew is growing restless, wanting to be pirates again. To sail the endless seas. To gain riches and gold. See new and exotic places. They left Neverland and didn't think of turning back once they set sail. Off on new adventures.
Months at sea and they were successful. They found gold and riches. Food and women. New recruit eager to take on the sea. Captain James Hook was feeling like himself again, as the feared pirate that he was before they got stuck in Neverland. The Jolly Roger was sailing on, but after a rather harsh storm and the ship was battered. Needing to be fixed and soon. They came across a new island in time, filled with trees and supplies that could be used to keep them sailing. Uncharted according to the maps.
The island was home to other natives. The first a small tribe of elves that lived deep in the lush forest of the island. Among nature and kept themselves well hidden. The small village tucked high in trees and could only be found if someone knew what they were looking for. They feared the other natives of the island. The ones that lived up on the mountains and deep within them. The vicious and brutal orcs that had nearly killed off the elves. They still sent raiding parties to search for their elusive enemies.
The pirates grabbed the attention of both. The elves angry with the strange men come to their home and ripping down the trees they used to hide. The trees they felt deep connections to. They stalked the strange men, picking off pirates that ventures out on their own. Or that got too close to them. Ones that fell into traps they made. One particular elf takes it on themselves to raid on of their camps one night. Wanting information and to get rid of as many enemies as they can. Slipping up and getting caught. Being brought to Hook.
What happens next is up to us.
My preferred character in this would be Wendy.
Lets change Neverland from an island, to a city in the 1920's. One ran by two gangs. James Hook leading the Jolly Rogers. An established gang that has its hands in many places. Bootlegging and booze running. Drugs. Women and more. They are known to be brutal, killing anyone that stands in their way. Lining the pockets of corrupt cops and politicians to keep them blind to what they are doing. Internal fighting happens, but is often taken care of by higher ranking members of the gang, or the leader himself. Feared by most of the city and had been for years.
The second is a rather new gang. Peter Pan and his Lost Boys. A small but tight knit gang. Close and getting well known for their own bootlegging themselves. Weapon running is a good way to get money and they aren't afraid to steal from the Jolly Rogers. The Lost Boys seem to run with more morals, they don't sell women or children. They stray from violence the best they can and often step in when the Jolly Rogers are demanding payment from people that can't afford it. Favored by the public, it makes it easy for them to hide. They are well liked and it is increasing their power.
The story starts from here. A love triangle between Wendy, Peter, and Hook. Wendy and Peter grew up together. Childhood best friends until life took them away from each other. Wendy moving in order to seek medical treatment for one of her brothers. Their parents wanting to move closer to a hospital that was offering the best medical treatment that the time had. Peter would lose both his parents and end up in an orphanage that was far from pleasant. The two grew up in very different lives. Wendy would lose her brother to his sickness and it broke the family. Her mother growing depressed and blamed herself which would eventual lead her to an intuition. Her father sank into booze. She raised her other brother. Giving him the best life she could. Peter had it hard, but grew close the other others in the orphanage. Leaving and sticking together with a small group that would eventually become the Lost Boys.
Wendy had always loved singing and the theater. Often dreaming of being on stage in a Broadway show or singing in a jazz lounge. As he brother went to college she started to focus on herself. Singing at no name bars. Until James Hook would find her when he went to the small bar she was working in. Singing for the rowdy crowd of drunks that only cared about the pretty girl over her voice. As one tried to reach out for her he stepped in. Offering her a chance to sing at his club. A safe place and a chance to be found. She took it and within a few months the two were going steady.
Peter comes to the city with the Lost Boys. Stepping on the Jolly Rogers toes and being a nuisance to the established gang. Eventually Wendy and Peter run into each other again. Wendy in ignorantly bliss she is dating a gang leader, thinking James is just a club owner along with a few other businesses. Then her childhood bestfriend. Her Peter is back.
The love triangle begins. Peter having feelings for Wendy and she has some for him as well. But she cares deeply for James, for what he has given her. Hook just wanted to have the best singer in town on his arm, but Wendy was digging out the soft side of the gang leader. Her smile or positive outlook on life was getting to him. He wanted to protect her from the ugly life he lived. Keep her out of the gang war, but its hard as the leader of the Lost Boys seems to be getting close to her again.
Other characters can come into play. Tinkerbell as Peter's second in command. Maybe a young woman with feelings for Peter after they grew up in the orphanage took. Hook's first mate that can view Wendy as a weakness for the gang leader. Wanting her to be taken out of the picture as the two leaders are starting to fight over a woman instead of the city. A third gang wanting to step in as the two gangs are weak. Lots of ideas we can brainstorm here.
