Year: 2063 AD - July 16th at 3:17pm Eastern Standard Time
Humanity at this time was undergoing the beginnings of a crisis, induced by the Earths magnetic poles shifting alongside with the reduction of air pollution. This event was referred to as 'The Great Freezing' in later generations, but at the time humanity didn't realize how bad it would become. Humans had installed thousands of CO2 trapping facilities within the first few months of 2027, and by 2034 there were millions of facilities across the globe actively reversing human impact on Global Warming. With stricter environmental laws being enforced alongside public outcry to restore the forests cut down by logging companies, the forests began to creep closer and closer to cities as humanity began farming a majority of their crops within massive high-rise complexes. Due to the inefficiency of traditional farming more people moved into the rapidly progressing cities, with the smaller towns either expanding into their own cities or being abandoned and demolished. This sudden explosion of progression that was mostly confined to the USA began to spread rapidly across the globe, though some countries such as France or England saw less change than those around them. Cars that relied on fossil fuels were completely banned, power production switched from fossil fuels to nuclear energy, and cities began to implement automated transportation and cut the need for traditional driving almost in half. It was with all these changes within the span of a decade that humanity didn't account for the decade previous, as they not only cut out fossil fuels from almost all aspects of life; they also added too many countermeasures while implementing massive changes. The decade following would see the decline of world wide temperatures to that before the Industrial Revolution, with the decade afterward seeing a continued downward trend. Before humanity could properly react to the disaster they created, the human-induced Ice-Age was now upon them.

Most of humanity now resided beneath the crust of the earth in large and expansive bunkers. Despite their efforts to reverse the affects that caused the Ice Age, there was nothing they could realistically do at that point. And so, a global effort to create a safe-haven for all life of Earth began. An international government funded company named Whiteout Industries emerged, and quickly began drawing up designs for thousands of city-sized bunkers and began their construction. Two additional companies followed soon after, one by the name of Heavens Ladder and the other being called Eves Solutions. Heavens Ladder was specialized in automated space travel, and it's task was to bring smaller asteroids within Earths orbit to begin excavation of precious materials needed for the bunkers; shipping them down to the surface via space-craft designed for repeated low-earth orbit missions. Eves Solutions was a back-up plan in the event that humanity couldn't save itself or the majority of life from extinction, with the plan being to obtain the DNA of every species on earth and creating an AI that would restart life on earth after the Ice Age ended. With all three plans in place humanity continued living life as if nothing was changing, with the governments of the world keeping the public ignorant of the issue as they rushed to ensure they could save as many people and as much wildlife as they could. After nearly 3 decades the bunkers were ready, with each one capable of housing up to 3 million people; for a collective total of 2.73 Billion worldwide. Despite the massive protests that ensued after the public reveal of the bunkers, those that couldn't be housed within the bunkers were still able to live daily life; even if it would be hard to endure a much harsher climate.

Around this time the Ice Age began to recede and humanity had survived the Ice Age in relative comfort, the bunkers opening back up for the first time in over 1,667 years. Within that large span of time technology had progressed just as rapidly as it did before, with the revolutionary introduction to Androids to better improve efficiency and to devote less humans to harmful workplace environments. As mining materials from asteroids became much more profitable over the years, the need to harvest materials from the earth itself was now redundant. Now humans were completely self-sustaining, no longer needing to harm nature for the products they needed. Nuclear Reactors were soon outclassed by the innovations of Hydrogen Fusion Reactors, and new technology such as the Atomic Assembler began to make recycling all forms of waste into an easy task. Activists began to strive for a cleaner and healthier way of life, and it didn't take too long afterwards for companies to start complying to the new standards set. Due to the averted crisis thanks to the efforts from all nations across the globe, a general agreement for cooperation between all nations was reached. Whether it was in part due to almost going extinct or due to a shift in political views no one knew, but this wouldn't be the end of the troubles humanity would have to endure.

Humanity was once again living inside of the bunkers, and has been ever since. This was due to an unprecedented event known as 'The Departure'. Observatories around the world 90 years prior detected abnormal bending of light while observing Alpha Centauri, and discovered that a Black Hole was rapidly approaching the solar system. Its mass was about 32 solar masses, and the orbits of the planets had already started to become altered; and it was approximately 2147 astronomical units (AU) away with an estimated time of 59 years before the two masses would fly by each other. Due to this sudden news Eves Solutions began an immediate preparation to launch a variety of space-shuttles into space containing the DNA of every living thing on Earth, launching over 100 different shuttles in a desperate attempt to save life on earth if the worst came to pass. News broke to the public due to mismanagement of information and the public went wild, with a completely societal breakdown happening within the span of a few months. Asteroid mining ceased due to the gravity of the Black Hole messing with the orbits of the asteroids and causing some to slam down onto the Earth's surface, and as the years crept by the skies of Earth grew darker and darker as light was bent away from the planet; bringing about another Ice Age that was much more bitter than the last. The day of the event humanity looked up towards the sky, seeing the distorted stars in the sky alongside the sun. In horror they watched as the sun was slowly ripped to shreds and as their only source of sunlight grew further and further away, with Mars and Mercury falling into the Black Hole as all of the other planets were either ejected or kept their orbit for a time. More years flew by and Saturn eventually met the same fate as the previous two, with Jupiter swallowing both Pluto and Venus. By the time the remnants of humanity became settled inside of the bunkers Earth was caught by Jupiter, with the former planet full of life becoming one of the gas giants most massive moons.

Historical evidence of the event that sent Earth and Jupiter into the void of space has been locked behind massive amounts of security, as to avoid having the public masses tamper with the valuable information. Alongside of that were rested a vast majority of human history, and such a long period of time since The Departure has seen the rise and fall of new religions and new governments. The US government dissolved around 3,270 years after The Departure, and has since been replaced by several governmental bodies that all cooperate with each other very closely, with Mexico having dissolved completely due to massive anarchy while Canada cut contact with all of the other bunkers for unknown reasons. Europe as a whole weren't peaceful due to unrest between the former UK and Germany, Japan was erased from the map outside of the capital city, and China had it's bunkers suffering from an unknown ailment that spread quickly and killed large swaths of their overpopulated bunkers. Africa and Australia weren't responding due to communication issues, and South America was more or less united under the goal of finding a new home. With cooperation between the bunkers that could and would still communicate, they decided upon locking away historical evidence in the name of preservation; as any hard proof that The Departure happened alongside a majority of human history prior could easily be permanently erased. The conversion from physical to virtual was slow, but eventually it all paid off.
