So as of right now we're all leaning towards surrendering right?

Also how would they deal with Juniper when deciding a punishment? In her current state she's more akin to someone being mind-controlled than anything else. Who knows if she will ever recover from her mental breakdown.

You mean, how would she be sentenced in a potential trial? I dunno. She lived her life as a brigand and then as a loyal soldier in an enemy army. I don't know what kinds of things she's responsible for doing in either of those roles, but her punishment would presumably be tied to the severity of those crimes.

As a general, she might have similar political value to Rai in that enemy soldiers might decide not to keep fighting if her life is leveraged in exchange for peace.

Also worth noting that she, like Silver, was raised into her situation and may not have had any choice but to become what she did. Despite that, like Silver, she not only surrendered peacefully (in this scenario), but she also helped Arryn save his friend's life. He might be willing to vouch for her because of it. I can't say how the sentence would he decided ultimately because it's a genuinely hard question and I don't know, but I suppose all those things would be considered.

As for her mental status, I guess whatever her punishment (short of death), she would be treated to the Aetherian version of psychotherapy, if they have that. Of course, we're talking about a medieval justice system in a fantasy kingdom, so who even knows if psychology and/or therapy is a thing there? Worst case scenario, she might just be sentenced and then left to fend for herself with whatever baggage she has to carry as the punishment is carried out.

So this is just gonna be for Character Creation but ima whack it here now for reference. I dunno, it was fun. Magic Tiers of power in Aether:

Tier 0
Inexperienced or untrained in matters of magic. Anyone can use tier 0. Closer to harmless tricks than anything substantial. Totally harmless. Used for parlor tricks. Might be entertaining to small children.

Tier 1
Common magic level for most members who learn any practical powers through study and training. Many common soldiers have access to Tier 1 magic. Useful for practical purposes, but even this low tier is unreachable for those who lack any magical talent.

Tier 2
The common goal for dedicated magic casters. Standard mages with over five years training usually inhabit this tier. Usually respected and well paid - a Tier 2 capable individual can expect lucrative employment.

Tier 3
The elite. Few reach Tier 3 - and usually only after a lifetime of study or those born with some innate talent for magic in the blood. One might expect to see Arch Mages, Lord Paladins and Church Sentinels within this tier.

Tier 4
The absolute Human limit that can not be exceeded without exceptional circumstance. A rare breed of Arcane mastery that is only seen a few times every generation. High Sentinel Staxos inhabits this tier.

Tier 5
The tier of legendary heroes, spoken of in awe and fear - A tier 5 caster is capable of turning the tide of any battle to their favor. The world of Aether has a population of approximately 100 million individuals - there have only been a dozen cases of Tier 5 magic users in the last century. Usually restricted to Elves and other magically aligned races.

Tier 6
The realm of Angels, Demons, Dragons and other mythical creatures. Though there are examples throughout history of individuals forming contracts with these creatures to gain access to the sixth tier - every story ends in disaster and Armageddon.

Tier 7
Old Magic. Borderline Lovecraftian. An individual can be driven insane simply by sensing it. Used in the first days as a tool of creation by the forerunner races and long since thought lost.

Final Tier
Creation Magic. Power of the Gods.

We're just deciding whether our characters are going to surrender to the church of light and face our punishments or go out in a ball of glory and try to fight. Not gonna lie, looks like we're leaning towards surrendering.

"Oh, yeah, totally harmless. "
*has face clawed off by a mountain lion*

Well that's her racial ability. It's like a bird flying. It doesn't mean she has any particular talent for anything else - she hasn't studied or anything. She's low tier in actual magical ability.

true
I mean, compared to other's of her species she's actually pretty weak
(I'm going to write something about that, but for now i need to sleep)

I imagine Tannur would take great offence at being referred to as just a thief, you know what a real master thief does at a time like this? Makes something clever up on the spot and runs away, or stalls until he comes up with something.

I feel like we're gonna discuss a huge buff for this guy in the next chapter.

Well if you hadn't dropped a fully magicked up git on us I thought he would've been in the best man for this fight.

I thought only people already here got to have Aetherian peeps or did you change your mind?

So where are we right now in terms of who's character is going to surrender and who's not?

Also WillfulWren WillfulWren don't worry, we can be the Yamcha and Sokka of the group. Useful early on but extremely outclassed later on!

Surrender or suicide by Staxos? Well I have a third option in mind, let me get a post out in a bit.

Rai has those Tier 6 magicks. Gonna whoop Staxos's butt if he had his powers. Just goes pew pew, boom boom and Staxos is just a bloody puddle. XD
