These few, born and raised in the ghetto, will show just how when its all brought from behind closed doors can and will change everything. What you dont know cant hurt you but when you find out? Kordell was sitting on the. Side of the road, a drink in his hand, half asleep. He slowly got up, looking at his surroundings. There was a hotel about three blocks away from where he was, and he figured he could stay there a few nights before people started to get suspicious. He headed in that direction, throwing the bottole in the street. He pulled his hood up over his face, hoping to make it clear that he didnt really want to talk to anybody. As far as he could see it, he didnt need anything from them. Everyone just wanted to bring him down, and he didnt want that to happen anymore. When he finally made it to the hotel, He went in as if he was there to somebody. He headed up to the top floor, picking the lock for and executive suite. He flopped on the bed and sighed, he was feeling a feeling that he hadnt felt in a while.

---------

ShaRhonda awoke from her nap to the usual sound of her aunt and uncle fighting about something. She sighed, sliding on a pair of flip flops and going outside until the whole thing blew over. She looked up at the sunset, twirling her fingers in her hair wondering if things would get better between them. She got up, having heard the yeloing stopped. She went into the kitchen, getting herself a bowl of cereal and plopping on the couch. She didnt bother to intervene and check on them.

Neva sat in her cramped room, her headphones on. She was trying to drown out the sound of her screaming parents below her, but even at its loudest, the music didn't seem to work. She glanced out the window of her rundown yard, covered in weeds and who knows what else.

Giving up on her music, she decided to head out. She opened her window, making sure it was not in place to lock when she closed it, before slipping outside. She had done it a million times; she clung to the tree beside her, the rough bark scraping her bare legs. Her shorts didn't give her much protection, but they were easier to run in, if necessary. Neva closed the window before shimmying down the trunk, heading down the street towards the Embersonn's house.

Kordell looked down out the hotel, seeing a purple-haired girl running down the street. He whistled, hoping to get her attention, not everyday you see someone like that. He of course, was expecting a pretty supermodel girl who would be willing to come up to his room. But then again, he was a guy. He pulled up a chair to the window, just in case there was a bit of a fight.

---------

ShaRhonda finished her cereal, heading to her room. She turned on her ipod, putting her earphones in her ear. Maybe if her uncle wasnt so cheap, shed have a tv to look at. She stared ahead at the empty wall, wishing she had somebody to call over. She shortly fell asleep after a few minutes of intense thinking.

Hearing a whistle, Neva's head whipped around. She glanced up, seeing a guy in the hotel window. She glared up at him; he clearly only had one thing on his mind. Whipping her hair around over her shoulder she continued on her way.

Guys like that infuriated her. For some reason, they thought most alt girls were whores or something. Of course, most guys thought all girls were there to be their whores, so Neva tried not to take it too personally.

Kordell shrugged as he watched her continue. "Oh well...." He said to himself. "There's always the next girl." He moved back from the window and went to explore the hotel room. He left it open for a bit of cold air. He made his way to another room, which looked like a living room. He went inside of it and plopped down on the couch, grabbing the remote, he flipped through channels, making sure at the same time to stay as quiet as possible.

------------

ShaRhonda forced herself awake after five minutes. She really didnt want to be up at night in this neighbornood. She went out the back door and into the grassy field behind her house. She wouldnt dare go out the front while they were in the living room. She followed down and stopped when she got to the river that separated the back of her neighborhood from the urban area and sat down. She threw a fewstones in it, looking around for anyone.

Auriel

Auriel had just finished up with her shift at the nearby grocery store. She was completely exhausted and just wanted to go home and rest. She began walking home. She had this odd feeling in her stomach, she felt something in her throat as well. She was half way home, when she ran to a nearby trashcan and began throwing up. She was a bit of a germaphobe, which didn't make her feel any better.

She then grabbed a water bottle and rinsed her mouth out. She then continued walking home, this time with a headache.

Alena

Alena was sitting in the kitchen. Her dad was in the living room taking a nap, empty whiskey bottles surrounded him. She rolled her eyes at him and decided to make herself a sandwich, making sure not to wake him. She also left a few snacks for Auriel, she knew and appreciated how hard she worked.

Neva finally reached the Embersonn's house. She hopped the rickety backyard fence and knocked on the back door. She could see Alena through the glass, and waved a bit, hoping to catch her attention.

Kordell turned off the tv after a while and stole one of the extra keys in the room, making his way out. He went downstairs, and walked down the street to a convenience store. He went in, checking how much money he had. He has $7, and he figured that would be enough to get a few snacks. He grabbed everything that he wanted and headed up to the cashier.

--------

ShaRhonda got up and sighed. She looked around, then started to walk up the length of the river. After about thirty minutes, she realized that it was starting to get dark. She made her way back down, not wanting to get in trouble for being out late since she would already be in enough trouble for leaving without permission anyway. "Chances are theyll probably be fighting with each other anyway..." she muttered under her breath. It started to get cold, and shed wished that shed gone out in more than just some shorts and a tank top.

Auriel

Auriel finally arrived home and slowly and quietly shut the door behind her. She then quietly went up the stairs to her bedroom. She sighed and hopped on her bed. She smiled when she saw the food on the top of her drawer. She smiled and began eating it, which made her feel a lot better. She knew Alena made it, she knew her sister cared.

Alena

Alena heard a knock at the back door and saw Neva waving. She smiled and quietly went outside.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" She raised an eyebrow, and stuffed her face with her Peanut butter jelly sandwich. "You want one?"

"Nah, I ate already," she lied. She was honestly starving, but she didn't accept food from anyone. She only stole from the people who she felt deserved it - the houses in the super nice neighborhood a short walk from theirs, or the clerks at the nicer convenience stores. Most of the time, she didn't even kept what she stole for herself. She'd only take what she needed, then distribute it to the young kids growing up in the neighborhood. She fancied herself a sort of Robin Hood.

"Want to do something?" Neva asked. "My parents are fighting again. I had to get out of the house before I stabbed something. Again." She rolled her eyes; last time it had been a pillow, the time before the wall of the bathroom.

Alena

Alena knew Neva was hungry a lot of the time, but never said anything. She knew how kind of a person Neva was, even though some people didn't see it.

"Sure," she smiled "I'll bring us some snacks."

"At least your house isn't filled with whiskey and vodka bottles and a guy who thinks breaking the TV will fix it." Alena smirked and rolled her eyes. She despised the fact that she was related to a delirious d-bag, that she's unfortunately forced to call 'Father'.

Kordell took his bag and headed back to the hotel, only to find there was someone who already checked in. He slouched a bit, and decided hed just find someone who would let a 'starving' stranger in their house, not likely but worth a shot. He crossed a river and headed into a neighborhood that looked similar to the one he grew up in.

----------

ShaRhonda went back up to the grassy field which led to her house. She snuck in the back door and upstairs to her room. She sighed, wrapping herself in a blanket and looing out the window. She wondered if it would be better for her to run away and not look back.

"My dad drinks enough beer to equal that," Neva shrugged. She paused. "We're not telling your goody-two-shoes sister about this, right?" The last thing she needed was to get in trouble with her uncle.

Trey was sitting on his porch smoking, looking out at the street nodding silently at everybody who walked pass the house his speakers blasting music throughout the whole block it was getting late but he wasn't worried nobody ever tried anything on this block mainly out of respect or fear of his gang the Red Jacks but he grew up here so he knew everyone and everything that went on around here, "damn it's quiet today" he said out loud as he turned his red hat backwards It was a little cold but that probably had to do with the fact that he wasn't wearing a shirt you'd never really see him with a shirt on unless he was going somewhere the guy loved showing off his tattoos and the body he'd built around them during his time away, he sighed heavily as he blew out several rings of smoke while staring out at the street.

ShaRhonda decided that she could at least leave for a few days, maybe crash with an old friend. She packed up a duffle bag, threw on a pair of beat-up looking converse, and made her way out the back door. She walked out the high grass in the back of the house and walked through the streets in the middle of the night.

Kordell kept walking from street to street, looking for a house nice enough that hed like. While he was walking, he thought he saw that same purple haired girl from the hotel through a glass door. He doubted it was her, but to see he did the same whistle and ducked down behind the old fence.

Alena

Alena smirked, "No, she just got off work, she'll probably take a nap or something." She explained as they walked down the block. "So, what do you want to do?"

Auriel

Auriel finished her snacks and felt completely bored. She knew how late it was, but she felt like going out. She sighed and peeked out of her bedroom door to see if her dad was awake. He was dead asleep, and was soaked in drool. She silently walked downstairs and left the house. She sighed and began walking around the neighborhood.

Trey decided that he was done sitting around so he grabbed his leaving the house essentials which were his phone, some money, and a gun he locked the door behind him as he walked out into the streets looking around at the houses he didn't have anything to smoke with him so it was a pretty dull walk, he noticed a guy ducked behind a fence as two girls on the other side talked "you see the strangest things at night" he said as he threw his shirt over his shoulder and headed across the street halfway he noticed a girl with blonde hair leaving the house, she was pretty and something about her that you never saw in other girls around here "might as well make a move" trey said as he walked up to her putting on his best smile "Sup girl where you headed?".

Neva whirled around, searching for the source of the whistle. She scanned the surrounding area, not spotting anybody. "Strange, I though..." She shook her head. "Never mind." Turning back to Alena, she answered, "Let's go do something fun. I don't care what."

Kordell Was peeking through a hole in the gate and laughed as he got up, pulling his snack bag up on his shoulder.

ShaRhonda kept going until she found herself in a dark alleyway where there was nothing but a ladder. She threw her bag up to the top and climbed up the ladder, making her way inside. It was just as she remebered it; everything in its same place. She found refuge here whenever she was feeling down or needed space from anyone, just a room in an abandoned factory. She set her bag down on the floor.

Neva spotted the guy. She stormed over to him. "You!" she spat, temporarily forgetting Alena was there. "You're the guy from the hotel! The one who keeps whistling at me." She raised her hand, slapping him, before preparing for another one.

Kordells face turns into a frown. "Chill! Just having a little fun is all. And I think your cute." He said, rubbing his face and forcing himself not to return the favor.

"Well whistling's a hell of a way to show it," Neva snapped. She flipped her hair over her shoulder, remembering Alena. She glanced at her, then back at the guy. "I'm sorry I slapped you." She raised an eyebrow, only half apologetic. "You aren't from around here, are you?"

"Well, its what I learned. Its cool I guess. No im not....." Kordell said, kicking a can down the street to help release his anger. He figured the girl was going to try to have a long conversation, so he wanted to get himself ready to listen rather than talk. He slipped his hoodie off of him, holding it in his other hand.

"I can tell." Neva glanced down, then back up again. "You aren't part of any gangs, are you?" she asked, suddenly wary. Her hand strayed to her back pocket nonchalantly. No one except for Alena knew that was where she kept her knife.
