Beautiful Secret

Ananfal

Music soothes the savage beast
@Akio

It is medieval times. A king leads the country, one just appointed through the blood of war. This King appointed his Knights as Nobles and gave them cities to watch over. One such city is Porter, where the people have started an underground rebellion. They have a plan to assassinate the Knight who rules over them, and then fight for their country's independence.

That plan is marriage.

The knight leader of Porter was Garen Crownguard. He was a tall Raven haired man about 6'1. He was thin wiry muscle rather then most hulking massive knights and a purposeful stride. But his loyalty gave him a city and his loyalty was legendary. Garen hadn't involved himself in the city so much, leaving it to the governor for unknown reasons.

Rita was a beautiful woman. That was why she had been chosen for the task of becoming Knight Garen's wife. And killing him, of course. The underground rebellion could not take open action until the Knight was dead and it fell to Rita to do so.

So the marriage proposal was sent.

Her proposal came back rejected, the knight had gotten many proposals all over from many different woman. Some looking for wealth, some for political power, and others. It was doubtful he even saw it, she would have to take a more hands on approach.

"Just climb into his room at night, they said." She grumbled to herself as She wedged a foot into yet another crack on the wall. "It would be romantic, they said." She cursed as the wind almost plucked her off the side of the wall and co spidering she was five stories up into the air, that wouldn't be good for her. "Bastards didn't say that the tower is freakin 7 stories up in the air and he only sleeps in that tower." With a sigh she steeled herself to climb another two stories.

Garen was asleep in his bead or seemed to be. There was a ravenhaired man in the bed with the covers wrapped tightly around him. He didn't even stir as she came threw the window.

Tumbling onto the ground with a solid thump, she held her breath to see if the man woke up. Sighing when he didn't, she got up and went over to the bed, drawing back the covers and sliding in underneath them. "Damn then I hope this works..." She grumbled under her breath.

The man finally opened his eyes and looked at her and let out a yelp and jumped um in his bed. She should have seen enough pictures of Garen and him enough at public events to know this wasent him but his squire. "Hey how!" And then Garen walked in opening the door and seeing the two of them. He just smiled. "Interesting night Marcus? Have fun with it?" With that he left leaving the squire sputtering.

A small sigh. "Take my advice, just pretend this is a dream." She patted the man on the head like a child and slid out of the bed, heading to the door in a rush with the hopes of catching up to Garen. "Sir Knight!" She called out, racing after him. "Sir Knight! I wish to speak with you!"

He looked behind him at her, it seemed he had been reading by the book in his hand and he looked at her still in good humor from what he walked in on. "Ah yes?" He said his eyes still twinkling with amusement,

"I apologize for the scene you walked in on. I had thought that tower was yours and assumed that bed would be yours... as well..." She trailed off by the end, her cheeks flushing with heat as she realized just what she was saying. "It would have been romantic..." She murmured, looking away and down to the ground.

"The bed is usually mine but i had trained him today and he was quite tired and i wanted to read so i allowed him to sleep here. But still you were searching for me it seems, not many girls would climb a castle wall to prove thier feelings to someone." He said with a kind smile.

"My marriage proposal was rejected, and I thought perhaps a more direct approach was needed." She blushed again, on her own now. The rebellion leaders had never been able to figure out if she would get this far and so she had to make her own plans. "I hope you are not offended, Sir Knight... I was merely trying to gain your attention..." She blushed harder.

"Marriage proposal? Well I don't even see most of those but still your quite brave to climb a castle wall. I will ask you not to risk your life like that again." He said looking at her though he had to admit he was impressed by what she had done. "Though i do wonder why you wish to marry me so badly, ive heard a lot of different reasons." He asked curiously.

"Ah..." She looked to the side, furiously thinking. This had never come up in the planning sessions! "Well, you see..." She said, coming up with something on the spot. "I'm in love with you!" She nodded with a smile... before she realized what she had just said and her cheeks flamed up, causing her to turn away and put her hands up to her cheeks.

"But why, we have never met before today and you don't know anything about me at the moment. While what you did was brave I still don't understand why you say you love me." He said looking at her, he didn't seem supisious only curious.

"I-I believe in love at first sight, don't you?" She laughed nervously and looked at the ground. "I saw you a while ago at a public appearance and I knew that I l-loved you right then and there. I hope you don't mind my bluntness..." She was going to ruin this! Why didn't they send someone else?!

"I don't unfortunly, I find love on first sight is based more on appearance and soon falls stale." Still he didn't want to discourage her too much. "Still if you want you can stay here tonight." He gave her a gentle smile. "Perhaps we can find out more about each other in the morning."

Perhaps she hadn't failed after all. "That would be nice." She said, relaxing slightly and giving him a small smile. "But... Where would I sleep? Did you not say that you had given your bed up to your apprentice?" Her eyes drifted over his face, then over his well formed body before she blushed.

We have plenty of guest rooms even just in the tower and I'm not likely to sleep much tonight regardless, I'm still mid book after all." He said giving a grin. "I'll send someone to wake you in the morning."

She frowned slightly. "But it's not healthy for you to not sleep all night." She said, forgetting about her mission to kill him. "It deteriorates your body and mind, proper rest is important for a fit body and sharp mind." She tsked at him and grabbed his book, marking the page carefully before putting aside. "Now you don't have an excuse to not go to bed." She frowned at him disapprovingly.

He starred at her for several long moments blinking just once without saying a word. He may occur to her around now that he could ordered her excited or thrown out if he wanted. Then he suddenly started laughing, it was a happy laugh with no trace of malice. "Can't say I've ever had that happen before, my servants usually just let me read. I'll take your advice tonight, feel free to take any of the guest rooms my lady." He said guestering to the rooms around them before striding off amused to his own room still chuckling.

A bit taken aback by his good nature, and finally aware of the danger she had placed herself in, she shakily selected a random room and sank down on the bed inside. This mission was dangerous... More dangerous then she knew. And then with a sigh, she settled down to sleep.

The next day she had been allowed to sleep for some time but soon someone knocked on her door waiting for entry. It was one of his younger servants, a 14 year old girl with bright green eyes carrying a tray of food. She wore a simple dress and when she opened the door looked at her carefully. "Food my lady." She said offering the tray.
