epic score
overview.
The Inner Sphere was used to war. For hundreds of years after the collapse of the Star League the Five Great Houses fought each other in seemingly endless Succession Wars. They knew war by aerofighter, by infantry, and most of all by BattleMech. But they were not prepared for an attack from the Deep Periphery, beyond the edges of known space.
The invaders had technology beyond what any of the Five Houses had, tech beyond even the lost glory days of the Star League. Some claimed they were aliens. The truth, once known, was harder to swallow: these were the descendants of the Star League Defense Force that had left with Aleksandr Kerensky after the Civil War hundreds of years ago. Multiple planets in the Draconis Combine, Federated Commonwealth, and Free Rasalhague Republic have fallen under control of Clans Jade Falcon, Smoke Jaguar, Wolf, and Ghost Bear. The governments of these two great houses and one independent state are scrambling to defend their people from further waves of invasions.
This is where we come in. A rag tag little merc lance, we're nothing fancy. But we've got 'Mechs and we're not opposed to kicking Clan ass for cold hard cash.

the veteran
taken
An old hand at combat, the veteran's survived more battles than some of the crew have ever seen.
Control
open
Not one to take the field, Control mans the comms and keeps the team in communication.
the Greenhorn
open
The newest member of the team. Maybe fresh out of an academy, maybe just stubborn and scrappy enough to get the commander's attention. Either way, they've got a lot to learn.

rule one.
I want to run a little adventure heavily inspired by BattleTech: the Animated Series (1994), and play a little merc team frolicking around the Free Rasalhague Republic and bothering Clan Wolf during the Clan Invasions. If you don't know anything about BattleTech don't worry, all you really need to know is that you're (probably) a 'Mech pilot and that's VERY sexy of you.
rule two.
Legally I am required to remind you of rpn's tos. You are reminded? You have rotated the tos in your mind? Fantastic. Thank you.
rule three.
There will be a discord for ooc, mostly because this is the easiest way for y'all to contact me. I also enjoy the ease of real time spitballing, as well as having a dedicated place to share memes.
rule four.
This is not first come first serve, I will be reading through sheets to determine what characters will be the best fit and considering team dynamics. That said I'm very willing to work with a character who's not quite up to snuff if I think you've got a concept that could be really cool! If you have other ideas for characters outside of the listed roles, please pitch them!
rule five.
I intend to run this as an episodic series of missions. Depending on how many players I get I might pick up one or more of the core characters to flesh out the lance, otherwise I'll strictly stick to npcs and bad guys and be more of a ttrpg style GM. I may be using dice/random generators to determine the outcomes of skirmishes and battles, to save us all the trouble of making decisions. This will be up for discussion by the group once we're chosen to determine if we want this, and if so how crunchy we want to get.
rule six.
Last but not least: BattleTech is for everyone. There is no room for bigotry in this game, and your gm is queer. Be nice or I'll squish you with my Ice Ferret.
That said this is also a war game, and we will be necessarily dealing with the horrors. Between that and my being 30+, I would prefer players to be 18+
