I've listed five roles--a lance of four and their mission control--but I'm down for other concepts and roles outside of this. If you have other concepts you're excited about pitch them! Four/five players is simply my ideal size for this game, but I'm willing to go a bit bigger.

Appearance
Though strongly built, Matteo is a bit smaller than you might expect the pilot of an assault mech to be. Just below average height, and narrow-shouldered. And in many respects, he seems plain, with brown hair and brown eyes, and little other than a slightly sharp, well-shaven jaw to set him apart. But that's ignoring the scars. The right half of his face, his right arm, and his right ribs are heavily scarred, with damage comparable to a grenade, though no burns are present. He does not sport prosthetics, but in his own words, "I won't be surprised if I need 'em before I'm done." Clothing-wise, he typically remains in his fatigues or his mechwarrior's cooling wear. But, if you can convince him to leave base, he might throw on a beanie, jeans, and a weather-appropriate jacket. The military boots stay though.
Personality
Sullen, Disillusioned, heavily sarcastic. But, he clearly cares about the safety of his lance. And if you get a few drinks in him, even he might crack a joke or two.
Bio
There was a time that Matteo was Loyal to Andurien. A time he sympathized with their dissatisfaction towards the FWL, and House Marik. So when his unit stayed with Andurien during their attempt to Secede in 3030, he felt righteous. He believed that what he did was what needed to be done, and that he was justified in this battle. But that only lasted a year. He fought, and stayed in the fight. He fought, and his Banshee had to be repaired, and stayed. His unit ran out of spare PPCs, and the techs improvised, and he stayed. The war stopped meaning anything...

In the sixth year, he got into a fistfight with an Archer. A fistfight that a Banshee should, by all rights, have won. Instead, the Archer's fist slammed into the cockpit, shrapnel spalled, and he lost consciousness. He asked to rotate to the rear. His command asked him if he'd prefer to transfer mechs or keep fighting. Matteo stayed. But he'd lost so much. His friends, his face, his faith in the house of Andurien... He took a gamble, and made secret contact with the mercenaries known as the Head Hunters. He betrayed his unit. He joined these mercenaries. And though he had regrets, he was free. He worked with the headhunters through the rest of the war, and when they went to Vanra to rebuild, he requested to leave, as they were still aligned with House Marik, and the FWL. He couldn't work under those fractious people anymore... Once he'd paid for his passage, they let him go.

After that, he drifted from unit to unit, and even briefly threw himself into the pits of Solaris. And though his time there hadn't been kind to him, his machine grew ever more foreboding and terrifying. But, in this unit, this new company... He feels he might've finally found some friends again. People who care about him. People who he cares about in turn. And he'll be damned or dead before he loses any of them.
Skills
Brawling, both in and out of a mech. Keeping a level head even in combat. Heat management.
Mech
Matteo Lehner pilots an imposing, highly customized Banshee, formerly a BNC-3M. A 95 ton assault mech with plenty of armor and strength... He calls it Thunderhead.
Mech Loadout
Thunderhead still bears many of its weapons from its life as a Banshee 3M, those being two Medium lasers, one in each side torso, and one Small laser, mounted in the head. But the twin PPCs have been traded away for Large Lasers, and during his time on Solaris, his mech's heat sinks were exchanged for double-strength models, and by removing a few, they found room to place a fearsome Hatchet in its right hand...​
 
Sierra "Mama" Martinez

Appearance - A rather tall (5'11") woman with chest-length blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a round face with high cheekbones. On her left hip rests a tattoo of a muscly soldier wrestling a bull by the horns (regimental symbol).

Personality - Martinez fits the description of a flirtatious nurse, except this one climbs into a 50 ton mech and blows stuff up. She's constantly checking up on her team, making sure everyone is in good spirits. She knows how to have fun, kick back and relax. It goes without saying that everything is an "experience" with her. It practically becomes a contest to see how much of a reaction she can get out of whatever's going on. Turn that walk around the block into a 10k marathon. Order a t-bone steak with that pork sandwich, and throw some jalapenos on there. Live life bigger.

Bio - ( *I'm introducing a fictitious event called the Zathras Conflict as part of my character's backstory. Let me know whether it needs to be changed.* )

In her late teens/early 20's she eked out a scandalous existence as a showgirl in one of Tarol IV's pleasure districts. Her family disapproved as they were puritans. However, Martinez had completely bought into the New Hedon philosophy. Who cared about good grades and working towards the future when the world was practically ending? As far as she was concerned, performing in front of a crowd felt exhilarating. And while the money was good, she did everything she could to chase that "high". Call it an adrenaline rush, succumbing to lust or what have you. It provided her with contentment and apparently others also found that to be the case...

Now like many New Hedons, she yearned to explore new avenues. Beyond Tarol existed thousands of other planets and with that new experiences. Martinez understood she'd have to change careers in order to travel the known stars, so she joined up with the 3rd Canopian Fusiliers. They initially placed her in an armored unit despite her request to take the BattleMech entrance exam. "You got no family, no home regiment, and to top it off your school transcripts are dog meat. I'll tell ya what I tell everybody else: slug it out with those treadheads and maybe...just maybe you'll get your chance," said the recruiter. By slug it out, what he really meant was twiddling her thumbs and watching paint dry. Of course, patience always proved virtuous.

Indeed, she'd have a chance to distinguish herself during the Zathras Conflict which was ignited by the planetary governor Kellan Nexis. At this stage he already declared independence and styled himself as "Emperor". Given his defensive position, the planet was considered nearly impregnable. Nearly. A number of bright minds came up with the idea to strip down their dropships to allow Pike support vehicles to land quickly and establish a beachhead. Dozens of ships landed in good order, Martinez being among them. She racked up six confirmed vehicles destroyed before being promoted to Star Corporal (equivalent to Master Sergeant). Mid-conflict, given her impressive kill sheet, she was finally permitted to take the BattleMech entrance exam and passed by the skin of her teeth.

The 3rd Fusiliers redeployed her in a 2nd generation Shadow Hawk as part of a three-man lance (the other two ejected earlier in the conflict). Despite an initial period of learning, Martinez adapted on the go. She scored a devastating blow against a Locust and damaged the heat sink on a Crusader. Her unit even managed to storm the east gate at Zastavna before quitting the field. Their efforts enabled ground forces to eventually take the city. Following the Zathras Conflict, she mustered out as the senior battalion NCO before taking on a contract with a mercenary lance.

Skills:

Morale Booster - Martinez knows how to put everyone's minds at ease. Whether it's just the right choice of words or a promise she can't keep, morale tends to improve fairly quickly.
Jump Tactics - Has a superior understanding of jump jets and how to shoot more accurately when jumping.
Aggressive - She never hesitates when facing the enemy. Always on the attack, pressing every advantage.
