A perfectionist when it comes to her craft, Holly can often be found practicing dances, oftentimes neglecting her health in order to put the finishing touches on her newest routine. Min Holli, known as Holly to her friends outside of her home in Busan, South Korea, grew up in a semi-wealthy family. Her early years can only be described as a typical upbringing, expected to take a job in an office or with her lawyer father when she grew up though that outlook was very quickly washed away.

At 14, Holly knew she didn't want the same job her father did, or any other job that required doing boring paperwork. Instead, she set her sights on stardom and became obsessed with the world of music and acting. Her parents hated this development, and did their best to discourage her, going so far as to throw away pamphlets for auditions to trainee programs in Seoul. Disheartened, Holly began to plan her move from Busan without her parents knowledge and would've succeeded if not for her elder brother Dae-hyun who caught onto her plans and stopped her from moving to Seoul with barely enough money for food. The then-17 year old girl's dreams were repeatedly talked down by her parents and she began taking lessons in dance when she started a part-time job to pay for them. She soon proved to be an incredible dancer, specialising in contemporary and hip-hop, her teachers suggested multiple times to her to join a trainee-ship to become a dancer for a girl group but she never had an opportunity to fulfil that dream.

When Holly turned 19, she decided to move away from South Korea and moved to America. It took her some time to find where she wanted to be, but eventually she came across Taking Back Spring, a band that became her new family and new life doing what she always wanted to do. Dance. She is a perfectionist when it comes to dancing for the band and is known amongst the members to be one to neglect her health to perfect a new routine. Since joining the band, there has been two incidents where she has collapsed after a show due to pushing herself too hard, once when the band was already off-stage and once as the band was leaving the stage. After the on-stage incident, Holly received a lot of worried comments from fans of the band which she addressed in a live, promising to take better care of herself though to this day she has changed her ways barely, if at all.

Em isn’t the most socially graceful person. They don’t tend to filter their words or thoughts around anyone, so they can come off as crass and loud. They can get very animated with their strong emotions, getting excited easily and becoming quite reactive. This can be a mixed bag, especially if their reaction is negative, which is quite often due to their anger problems. They have been working on it lately, trying to help level out their reactions. Honestly though? They haven’t learned to cope with this very well and instead tend to just bottle up their feelings before exploding even bigger than before. This causes them to often have huge mood swings where they seem good for a while before having an extreme negative dip, sending themselves into a long spiral.

Em isn’t a hateful person though, they just feel their emotions strongly. They think kindness is one of the most important things and tend to feel very empathetic towards those that other people might not see the beauty of. Meaning that if you are cruel to anyone that they love or someone they perceive as the underdog, their wrath will be directed towards you. At first glance, Em seems pretty intimidating, but when you get to know them they would probably give you the shirt off their back.

Em’s father died in a car accident when they were 2, leaving their single mother to raise them and their 6 year old sister on her own. While there were some struggles, their lives were full of love and never wanting for the necessities. Maybe they didn’t have the extras, but they didn’t mind — they got toys on Christmas, new clothes on their birthdays, and every holiday was a special occasion, even when money was tight. Em’s mother was really into the holidays and made every one of them feel important and special, even if they didn’t have much material things.

Em wasn’t particularly popular in school, and blended into the shadows often. However, they collected misfits with them as the years went by, and eventually they were all into the alternative/punk scene and learned to give each other piercings, stick and poke tattoos, haircuts and even how to diy their clothes. Em was usually first in line to be a practice dummy for any of their friends, and their favorite pastime was changing up their appearance, dying their hair every couple of months and constantly changing its style (they have had long hair, liberty spikes, a mullet, etc). This lead to Em exploring their gender presentation a bit, eventually discovering that they didn’t really much care for/align with a gender.

During this same time, Em’s mom had gotten back into dating and was getting ready to marry her boyfriend, Steve, who had moved in around the same time Em’s sister (Clementine) was leaving for college. This caused a huge shift in the dynamics of the house and Em’s connection to their mom and the loving environment began to fade. Steve wasn’t terrible to their mother, but was very restrictive and negative to Em for their anti-conformity. This didn’t stop Em from experimenting with their presentation and rejecting Steve’s authority. When Steve caught wind of Em wearing skirts in public and in school, he confronted them and told them in very clear terms that they would either stop that behavior immediately or they would get out from under his roof. That night, 17 year old Em packed a bag and crashed on a friend’s couch before eventually moving in with their sister. They refused to be stifled like that, and as much as they loved their mom, if she was going to stand by Steve, they needed some space.

Since then, Em hasn’t seen their mom much, holding a little bit of a grudge, even though they miss her.

Violet has often found herself in the middle of conflict, being a mediator between her mom and her brother quite often. she often finds herself trying to mediate conflict and taking on the burdens of her friends to make their lives easier. a certified “mom friend,” her bag is always full of whatever you could need for an emergency. she always carries a first aid kit, some snacks, an extra pad, you name it and she probably has it. she doesn’t claim the “mom friend” title when people try to assign it to her because she doesn’t think that she’s super motherly, but she does have the resources of one.

otherwise, violet is pretty childish. she is always telling jokes and deflecting talking about her feelings or anything that makes her uncomfortable. She never really learned how to deal with her emotions in a healthy way, so now she feels everything super intensely and if she gets upset, she gets really upset. Usually her reaction is to cry. she’s overwhelmed? cry. she’s sad? cry. She's being confronted? probably cry. even when she’s angry, she cries instead of actually getting angry. this causes people to see her as childish often, but she isn’t crying to try to get out of being held accountable or learning from her mistakes, she just feels her emotions in a big way and has no other way to express it. She gets frustrated when this causes people to not take her seriously, so she is really trying to work on it. This often causes her to seem detached when negative things are happening instead.

This doesn’t mean that Violet is always crying though, and usually she is seeing things on the bright side and trying to cheer people up around her, or she’s just watching the people around her, picking up on the photos she should/could be taking. Violet is often really nervous and biting her nails, but she tries to put off the personality of a coolly detached artist girl most of the time.

Violet’s parents were pretty middle class, so she and her twin brother, Tyler never really wanted for much in their childhood. They were fairly happy, but Violet’s parents were usually pretty busy working or having some kind of social life, leaving Violet and Ty to really lean into each other for support and dependence. That was fine with them, and they found methods to keep themselves occupied. While they were growing up, their parents began to bury themselves deeper and deeper into their respective work, leaving the twins to fend for themselves while their parents neglected their children and each other. Unsurprisingly, by the time Violet was 11, they announced that they were planning on getting a divorce.

Also unsurprisingly, at 12 years old, Violet and Tyler were quite rebellious. Going back and forth between their parents houses put a lot of strain on them and their individual relationships with their parents. It was a struggle for a while, and their mother tightened her restrictions on them a lot more and this caused her brother to lash out, as the twins were used to being on their own and felt like they didn’t need her to intervene a decade too late to start raising them. So they kept sneaking out, eventually with a group of kids a few grades above who were really into graffiti and would sneak out to tag things, tagging throughout their high school years. They were only ever caught once, but the blowback was astronomical and their mother grounded them essentially until graduation.

This didn’t stop Tyler from going and rebelling in his own way, but Violet would often stay at home because she didn’t want to get into more trouble. Her mother’s punishment for Violet was often worse, as “she should know better,” and her mother expected more out of her than she did Tyler. This led the twins to grow apart a little bit in the year leading up to their first year of college, away from home. Not in a negative way, just they were on their own paths, and Violet could feel it, but she didn’t know what to do.

When they left home, they went to different colleges. Tyler had a scholarship for computer science at a prestigious state school, and Violet went to the local college a few towns over. She got a job at a record store to pay her way through and got really into music and the local music scene, but she was more interested in capturing the scene through a camera lens than participating in it. She was going to college for hospitality management, an ultimately boring degree that she was planning on using to be a wedding planner, but deep down all she really wanted to do was be a photographer.

She dropped out of school due to not really having the money or the drive to keep going, but before that, she started to reach out to take wedding photos for local brides and she had a pretty good side business going, but ultimately she wanted to take photos of bands to combine her two loves. She reached out to the local bands through the record store, offering up her services for promotion pictures and stuff like that. She wanted to go on a big tour and be able to capture the whole scene through her own eyes. She wanted to experience every last second of everything if she could, but she truly never thought that she’d end up here.
