The Thundering Mustelid
Overview: The town if Baja appeared in the 70's with no warning. Most people don't even know of its existence but it is arguably the most interesting and mysterious place in the world. Surrounded by cursed beaches and forests, ancient ruins, and government facilities the town has a rich culture of urban legends and mysticism. Beneath all the Intrigue however there is a dark undertone. People disappear, People achieve the Impossible, and people rarely leave. However things are about to reach their boiling point after the death of Daryl Corráin causes secrets hidden for thousands of years to spill out into the open. The greatest of these secrets being the totems...

Corner St. University- A small College that holds only 100 students. It is a very selective private school that brings in teachers from abroad to teach whatever subject a student desires. Their Dean Yuri Ellis handpicks students from across the globe granting them free access to one of the worlds most prestigious education programs.

The Line- The main street in Baja Beach home to all of the small businesses in the town. From Zeller's cellar the local bar, To the Baja beach PD with all of their 8 officers. College students and Townsfolk alike gather for food, movies, church, bowling, or even Indoor ice skating which is the newest attraction.

The Crevice- About 14 miles east of the small town of Baja is a deep canyon rivaling the Grand Canyon in depth but not width. Ruins of a long lost ancient civilization are there. However, the deed to the land belongs to Daryl Corráin who both discovered and has prevented exploration of it for the past 25 years.

Baja Beach- the beautiful black sand beach to the west that the town has earned its namesake from. Though its gorgeousness is unrivaled by any other beach in Cali, it is never occupied at night due to several disappearances over the past 30 years.most say it is cursed.

Arbor forest- The densely packed forests to the north of town are where most of the residents dwell houses built on the edge of town with the trees behind them act as a sort of barrier. However if one goes beyond the homes they find a seemingly endless maze of trees and dense foliage that grows more unnervingly silent the deeper you go. It is said that 15 miles into the woods and no birds or even insects can be heard.

Orion Govt facility- A research test facility sponsored by the government and believed to be home to dangerous experiments. No one has been able to find its location and it is rumored to be located deep in the forests to the north. Mr Zimmer can be seen venturing into the woods at midnight every night with a few other unsavory characters from town. Any attempt to follow them fails as they seem to vanish without after a certain point. Only to return at around noon the next day.

Tiny island- south of the town and across 7 miles of sea lies Tiny island, a obviously small island populated by a small indigenous tribe of fishermen. The people of this community are incredibly hospitable and treat guests as if they were kings.

The Totems-

These stones were created over 5000 years ago by the Self proclaims cosmic chaos god Sylus after he discovered the Mayans tapping into the same chaos energy that fueled his own power. In his amused frame of mind he set up a rigged contest he gifted them with five powerful totems and gave them 5 years to master their power which he claimed could stop him when he came to destroy them afterwards. However the Mayans saw through his deception and spent 4 of the 5 years boosting the totems power with their own spirit and nature magic. Unfortunately the mayans could not master the totems in the time they had left. So they hid the totems and accepted their fate confident that someday someone would use them to destroy the chaos god. Daryl Corráin found these totems 25 years ago and has kept them hidden...until now.

Raven Totem- The raven totem grants its user Flight and the ability to generate any sound and even manipulate their own produced sound into powerful sonic attacks. When armored the totem grants the user a chestplate, gauntlets, greaves, Magic metal wings with regenerating razor sharp feathers and a bow which can fire the feathers while increasing the base powers effectiveness 100 fold.

Wolf Totem- the wolf totem grants the user superhuman speed and reflexes, plus a minor boost to the senses to compensate for the high speed movement. When armored the totem grants the user lightweight armor of a chestplate, bracers, boots, and a pair of razor claw gauntlets. Along with the 100 times power boost accompanied by armor form.

Bear Totem- The bear totem grants the user the ability to store vast amounts of energy by ingesting large quantities of food. The stored energy can then be unleashed as point counters to almost any form of attack, by using this they can apply the same amount of energy as was applied to them effectively negating the damage altogether. In their armored form the bear gains a heavy suit of full plate armor which allows their energy absorption to be applied to outside sources of energy such as a punch or an explosion. This stored energy can be expended via striking with his weighted bear claw shaped flail heads attached by an magically extending chain. This is accompanied by the 100 fold armor multiplier.

Shark Totem- The wielder of this totem gains the ability to breath under water and an immunity to pressure, in addition to a 10x multiplier to alm of their physical attributes, which becomes 100x when under water. Lastly they have an electrical sense which can even detect something as small as an insect by registering its bioelectric aura. When armored all the powers granted are increased 100x plus the user gains a suit of scale mail armor and a glaive shaped like the tail of a shark and lines with shark teeth that can be launched at his foes.

Bison totem- The wielder of the Bison totem gains immense superhuman strength, durability, and stamina not to mention a powerful resistance to mental manipulations. In the armored form the bison gains a thick chestplate, one armored sleeve akin to a gladiator, greaves, and an indestructible hammer which weighs as much as the bisons max strength but presents no burden to the user this is of course in addition to the 100x multiplier to the base powers.


In addition each if the totem wielders gain physics immunity in association with their powers. For example no matter how strong you are picking up a skyscraper is impossible it is not only so heavy that it would drive you into the ground like a hammer drives a nail into a board, but no point of the building can bear all of its weight. Unless of course you have the Bison stone. Another example is that no human could breakneck turns or impacts at supersonic speeds, unless they held the wolf stone. Normally it is physically impossible to eat a metric ton unless you hold the bear totem. Each stone protects the user from such pesky things as universal laws at least to a certain extent.

Character Guidelines

Several aspects of the CS may seem foreign so for that i will help answer frequently asked questions here.


Can i make multiple characters? ~ Yes!!! In fact I encourage you to do so. Each player must make 1 of the totem wielders because they are the main cast, but after that you can make any number of allies or enemies of our main cast.


Are there any age restrictions? ~ Yes. Totem Wielders must be 18-21 years old. We need them old enough to have full autonomy with their decision making but young enough to be new to it. For non totem wielders the age restriction is non existent.


What do i put in powers? ~ Totem wielders get the listed powers and they are rigidly set. I have a power progression planned for the main characters so there will be no modifications or substitutions allowed. For any Non totem wielder you can put what you want but i reserve the right to decline or request changes to characters as needed to adhere to the plot.


What is the ranking system? ~ the most powerful magic users in the town have set up a way to help a town full of monsters, gods, transdimensional beings, and magic users not murder each other as often and also help regulate the towns overall power. The ranking system is an actual enchantment that the town has that makes a colored ribbon appear somewhere on the residents person. White ribbons are normal people, Yellow ribbons are beings slightly above human levels such as a werewolf or vampire, orange is well above human capability such as a giant or Ogre. Red ribbons are indicators of high class threats such as demons, angels, and dragons they are quite powerful. Purple is for beings who are well beyond even angels and demons. Archangels and archdemons fall into this category as well as lesser deities and demigods. Finally Black is a ranking reserved by the mightiest of beings in the town.


What about those stats? ~ the minimum for any stat is 1 which is base human level. 100 is godlike, however all stats have their perks, for example a high utility allows your character to be useful in nearly any situation, whereas a high blast stat allows for huge damage potential. Mix and match the stats to make your character effective. Unless you are a totem user...then you are kinda restricted.


Can i use any picture? ~ yeah whatever you want. Hell you can bring in Batman but keep in mind any character imported from another universe will lose their plot armor and there will always be a “Bigger fish” don't worry about making the strongest character it cannot be done.


What makes the Totems so powerful? ~ Firstly the physics immunity puts them in a category of their own. On top of that the growth rate of the totems is ridiculous and their max power has never been seen before. They may not start off very strong, but the totem users have the potential to beat multiple Gods at once in their peak levels.
