Minutes passed and finally the double oak doors opened, revealing a rather strict looking man in butler attire. His sharp eyes raked through Rozal to his wet air and messy clothing. His eyes narrowed as he made eye contact with boy. "I'm sorry we weren't expecting visitors" He stated, stiff and curt "I'm afraid you'll have to lea--". But before the man could finish his sentence, a feather duster hit him squarely in the back of the head followed by a shout of protest and a girl shoving him a side. "Why hello!~" She exclaimed, huffing a bit as if she had been running "Please come in, come in!". She opened the doors farther and gestured for Rozal to enter.

"And what, may I ask are you doing, Aria?" He near hissed as he fixed his glasses. The maid immediately turned on him and slapped his arm. "So help me, Alistair, I will shove-" She began when a soft bell resounded through the cavernous room. The two servants immediately turned their attention to the sound, spotting a small albino kitten strutting into the room. "Move! Move!! MOVE!!!" Aria shouted, pushing and pulling Rozal down a near-by hallway and out of sight. Alistair immediately began fixing his tie and turned to face the cat just as a mans figure came rounding the corner. The maid looked back, heaving a sigh of relief. The escape had been successful.

"He's earlier than usual..." Aria muttered before turning her attention to Rozal, a preppy smile stretched across her face. "Ah! Right what can I do for you?" She asked.

Aria nodded her head in understanding. She had witnessed prejudice first hand before but as much as she wanted to hire him, she knew it wasn't her place. She looked him up and down, clicking her tongue. If she couldn't employ the boy then the least she could do was to make him presentable for the master. "Alright but this" Aria said, gesturing at his attire "Needs to be changed. Immediately".

Aria abruptly pulled Rozal forward so that his shoulders were just below her head. "Hmmm it'll be a little too big but Maria can fix it..." She mumbled before straightening him up once again. "Well then its decided!" She exclaimed, one hand on his shoulder as she steered him farther down the hall and into the servants quarters. She opened one of the doors, revealing a simple but neat bedroom. Aria began shifting through one of the drawers and pulled out what seemed to be butler attire. She stood back up and continued to drag him down the corridor until she reached an open doorway. "Maria!" She called, poking her head inside the room. A girl with red hair and sparkling blue eyes stepped out from the corner, a smile spread across her face. "Good afternoon Aria" She greeted when her eyes fell on Rozal "And who is this?".

Maria shook his hand with a smile "Nice to meet you Rozal, my names Maria". Aria clapped her hands, getting both of their attentions. "Good now that the introductions are good and done with" She said before handing the clothing to Rozal and lightly nudging him forward "Can you fit him in those?". Maria took the black attire from his hands and slowly looked it over before nodding her head. "Yes, of course...hmm don't these belon-" She began to say when Aria cut her off with a fit of over exaggerated coughing. Maria seemed to get the hint as she gestured for Rozal to sit on a near-by stool.

"Alright first we've got to measure the size..." Maria explained, taking out a white measuring tape "So shirt off please". She stood expectantly in front of him with a patient smile across her face.

Maria could feel the sudden change in the boys tone and smiled reassuringly. However when she stepped to the side to measure the width of his shoulders, the smile was completely dropped from her face. Maria let a slight frown settle in its place as she saw the small but prominent symbol etched onto his back. She resisted the urge to examine the mark further and continued with her work as if nothing had happened, though a bit quicker now that she realized what the source of his discomfort was. After she was finished with the measurements, Maria snatched the white undershirt from his lap and promptly draped it over Rozal's shoulders.

"We'll fix that one first" She explained, turning towards her work table to give him some privacy.

"Hah?" Auria blinked slightly in surprise at the sudden question before giving a laugh. "The masters in odd one, he is!" She exclaimed before wilting slightly at Maria's stern stare. "Ahaha sorry sorry what I mean't to say was that he's odd but kind! Saved most of the servants working here right from the streets, including Maria, Alistair, and I. God knows I would be long dead if I hadn't tried to pick his pockets that day!" Auria let out another laugh as look of nostalgia settled in her eyes. She seemed to have been in deep thought before suddenly jumping up as her cheerful disposition returned. "But the twat can be a right piece of work sometimes! Always making a big mess with all the convoluted ideas he has in that thick skull of his! Just last week I had to spend my entire afternoon cleaning up blood stai-". But her ranting seemed to have been cut short as Maria slammed a pair of silver scissors onto her work table. A dark aura seemed to radiate off of her before she turned around with a perfectly normal smile across her face, the strange atmosphere dissipating. "Don't you think Alistair would need help with the tables?" Maria asked, matter-of-factly. Auria giggled nervously before rapidly nodding her head and waved a little good bye to Rozal before quickly rushing out of the room. "If anyone here has a thick skull, it would be Auria" Maria sighed, grabbing a box of needles and making her way towards the boy. "The master is very lenient with the servants here so you have nothing to worry about" She said reassuringly when a sudden thought came to mind. "Are you going to be serving at the ball tonight?"

Maria blinked twice, first in shock then silent realization. "That girl...I swear..." She sighed before continuing on with her task. She had been suspicious that of all times to hire a new butler it would be on the day of the ball. Though she knew her master wouldn't have cared either way, Alistair would have been a tough barrier to get past. Auria did have her ways to bypass the strict man but with the tense and foul attitude he's been having for the entire week, Maria was surprised Auria had even managed to get a word in! But now that she had discovered that he hadn't even met the master yet and, as much as she wouldn't care to admit it, his strange appearance made this whole mess even more complicated. The young duke of Vesalius had always been fascinated by the strange enigmas of life but others were not as accepting as he for the more unusual things in life. "Rozal...if you somehow didn't qualify for this job...do you have anywhere else you might go?" She asked cautiously.

Maria's hand faltered slightly as she listened quietly to Rozal's story. She hadn't realized his current situation was so terrible...if she had only known she would have never had asked if he had anywhere else to go. She also realized how it could have sounded like she was trying to push him away. The silence stretched on as Maria thought on and on over her apology when she realized that she had already finished her work. She blinked a bit in slight surprise before clearing her throat to announce her finished product. "Rozal..." She began though was promptly interrupted as a sharp knock reverberated through out the room. Maria had barely gotten out a "Come in" before Alistair came bursting into the room followed by a flustered Auria. His eyes narrowed once again as they settled on Rozal, sharp and calculating. "S-see he's perfect!" Auria exclaimed, giving the butler an 'I told you so look'. Maria just looked on at the two, confused at what exactly was transpiring.

"...He'll do. Bring him along" Alistair commanded, completely ignoring Rozal's question. He turned back towards the exit and had barely taken a step forward before Maria protested that she had only gotten done on the shirt and hadn't even started on the pants yet. "It won't be necessary" He interrupted, not even bothering to turn around. Maria gave Alistair an incredulous look before turning on Auria who was all about trying to avoid the other woman's gaze. "Auria...what is going on?" Maria asked, raising her eyebrows questioningly. The other maid bit her lower lip before looking up at Rozal then at Maria. "I...well you see...!!" But before she could finish, Alistair cut in. "Enough. We have limited time as it is. If he does not wish to come I won't force him but if he cannot comply to this simple request then he is not qualified to be employed as a butler at this manor". A heavy silence fell among the group as they waited for the boy's reaction.

"Then follow me and keep up, she does not like to be kept waiting". And with that, Alistair walked out of the room and took off down the hall. He didn't bother looking back if the boy was indeed keeping up or not, taking the opportunity to test his over all physical shape. He purposely quickened his pace, seemingly flying down the corridors and abruptly turning sharp corners as he went. Alistair never looked back or faltered from his pace until they reached what seemed to be their destination. Large mahogany double doors, carved with intricate designs towered high above them. The butler reached for one of the gold and silver knobs and pushed them aside, revealing a spire like staircase that seemed to ascend into the heavens. He turned to face Rozal, as Auria had called the boy before and gestured for him to come forward. "She will be waiting at the room above. Knock once and do not enter until requested". And with that, Alistair walked off, leaving the boy with the surprising and sudden event.

"Come in" A soft but firm voice called from the beyond the less extravagant door. Well compared to the ones that led to the tower spire this one was rather ordinary. It was the color of white chocolate, nicely furbished with a single silver door knob to open it by. That and a little bird carved into the upper most middle. All in all it was a simple door. Though even then only the rich could afford it.

(You can make your next post reaallyy short Waifu-chan, even a one liner is okay since I haven't really described the lay out of the room yes ^ ^; ;)
