General lore:
Werewolves are in many ways similar to humans but their traditions have many parts that most humans would be disgusted with. For example once a werewolf reaches the age of 16 they are of age to find a mate but females don’t have the ability to become pregnant until the age of 18. But once they reach 16 years old they are considered an adult and are allowed to become mates with who ever they choose as long as the one they choose is also of age and agrees to be their mate. Mates are able to split up and find a different mate if they are unhappy with the relationship but once they have pups they are effectively bound together until all of they’re pups are of age.
Age and Ranks:
Werewolves between 1 and 6 years old are considered pups and generally stay at home with their mother or father. Between 7 and 16 years old they are considered younglings and are given a list of jobs they can learn for their adult lives and are allowed to participate in the rank fights. Rank fights are contests for individual ranks within the pack. This usually happens once a year but if a new youngling feels they are more capable of a position they can challenge the current holder of the position, However younglings cannot challenge the alpha. If an adult member challenges the alpha it is often a fight to the death. If not the loser will most likely be banished from the pack. If both are killed the alpha’s oldest son will take over. If the alpha had no male children of age or only had no child at all the alpha’s mate will take over until there is an eligible candidate to take the place of alpha.
