Introduction

Azrael is primarily based upon the original biblical representations of angels, and actually started off life as a fandom OC before being revamped into a completely original character.

  Commonly, angels have three forms; a disguised form- or glamour- which is usually either human or beast, their true form (which defies the common stereotype of angels just being attractive humans with wings and halos; of course, they still have wings and halos, but any resemblance to the common stereotype ends there) and an “in-between” form, which merges both their disguised form and their true form, most commonly showing their wings and other angelic features. This is, presumably, where the common stereotype originated.
  
  
  Azrael's disguised form resembles a pale, tall (6'11, to be exact), rather lanky fellow, looking to be in his mid-to-late twenties. His eyes appear to be grey, as does his hair, which is long and often tied up in a ponytail. He often wears clothes that cover most of his skin, and multiple layers- things like sweaters and coats over dress shirts and such, and dress trousers. He often also wears tall boots or spats, depending on what he feels like at the time. The main flaws in his disguise- the flaws that angels usually cannot get rid of in their disguised forms- are his sigil and the marking of his First Death. The marking is a purplish-greyish mark that resembles both a bruise and the imprint a tightened coil of rope may leave on one's skin, and his sigil- used to identify and summon a specific angel- is the alchemical symbol for ashes. Both are located on his neck; the mark of his First Death wraps around the entirety of his neck, while his sigil is located on the back of it. In the in-between form, his appearance stays mostly the same apart from the addition of three pairs of wings and multiple eyes scattered around his body, clustering mostly around his wings and forehead.
  
  
  
• Personality
  
  Intelligent, sharp-witted and verbose, though can often be somewhat distant towards others and enjoys being cryptic in his replies. Somewhat introverted, though strong-willed to a fault. Tends to warm up to people.
  
  
  
• History
  
  In the 19th century, during the dawn of the industrial revolution, there was a great tyranny in England, one that Azrael- then named Abel Icarus Dechiel- was greatly opposed to. He soon began to conspire against it, eventually coming to lead a rebellion before being captured and sentenced to public execution to make an example out of him. On the night prior to his execution date, he managed to take his life by hanging himself as one last act of rebellion. He was chosen to have the opportunity to be resurrected as an angel through this somewhat heroic death and willing sacrifice, and in the afterlife he was given a choice: pass onto heaven with no knowledge as to if the rebellion will succeed or not, or become an angel and serve as a knight and guardian in return for the promise that it will emerge victorious. He chose the latter and, whilst the rebellion was inevitably forgotten, he still feels as though he made the right choice.

  Flight, immortality and glowing. Though the immortality works in a revival-esque method; instead of just being stabbed, bleeding out but being generally unaffected, Azrael will, if injured enough, fall unconcious- "dying" momentarily- while his body slowly heals itself. This can leave the attacker with a chance to escape, but it can also give Azrael the benefit of surprising his opponent if this was unnexpected.

  He can swordfight rather well, is a good tactician and can also play the piano.
