Award Badges

I think award badges for accomplishing certain things on the forums would be a cool idea. Another community I'm a part of uses them, and gives them out for example when you make your first 100 posts, 500 posts and 1000 posts.


They could be displayed under your posts like this:

You could also get an award for a certain amount of likes, and there could be another suggestion thread where other users can suggest ideas for new award badges.

There is already a 'reward system' in place based on post count. If someone does not set themselves a custom title on their profile (the lines of text under your username and profile), the site will automagically change it to something based on the number of posts you have made. There are several unique and fun ones out there.

Oh yeah I know about that, I just think it would be fun to include reward badges as well as most people change their custom title to something different.

Maybe just one badge. I was part of a community or something which I hazily remember that gave you a special status when you hit 1337 posts. Because then you were 'lite. ( ) It may be fun to do a funny little nod. I agree the current system's sufficient, but there's always room to grow~.

Well there's the member of the month achievement, there could maybe be something as well as that that can be earned every month too

It seems like it would be best to limit badge giving to very specific or notable achievements. Otherwise, as Captain said, we would end up with an absurd number of badges. Heck, as cool as they are, I could see donation badges getting nuts at a certain number. Not to mention someone has to make the extra badges. Someone has to alter post layout to accommodate for extra badges, and then we have a massive badgefest on our hands that ends up being a contest to see who can get the most badges.


I call it badgesanity. Let chaos reign.
