That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
Welcome everyone to my AVP: Ceasefire Interest Check!

Please read EVERYTHING before attempting to join the RP or you will find a rather harsh surprise waiting for you!

So this RP has a rather traditional setting in mind for the three primary factions of the AVP universe, so I hope you enjoy it!

The idea is that humanity is colonizing space and things go horribly wrong.

Like I said, traditional.

But do please keep reading as it gets better. I promise.

The backstory of this RP goes that on board one particular vessel, named the Typhoon, there are a total of 50 families (around 230 people) of colonists and a detachment consisting of 100 Marines to protect them as they begin the colonization process of a new and very Earth-like world which was recently discovered. This world is called Nexus 3, in reference to the fact that it (like Earth) is the third planet from its respective sun in its solar system and seems to serve as a kind of stellar bridge between the second and fourth worlds. The three worlds are similar in size to one another and sport a kind of space dust "bridge" or "link" between themselves, hence the moniker "Nexus."

The colonization begins with the colonists establishing atmospheric processing factories to help change the oxygen content of the world (as was originally at an oxygen content of only 7%). Over the years (about 80 or so since the colonization effort began) the processors have done their job and the oxygen content of the planet's atmosphere is now 21.4%, slightly higher than Earth's.

This is where our story's more recent events begin...

The colony has grown tremendously since it began its colonization efforts 80 years ago. There are now a total of 96 families, massive crop fields, cattle farms, and resource management and refinement processing plants. The oxygen is kept stable thanks to the atmospheric processors at 21.4%, allowing the crops to grow larger and faster, the animals to grow larger and produce more nutrient rich meat and hide/leather products, and overall has become a major success story for humanity.

The colony first experiences an S.O.S. transmission from one of its mining teams, and dispatches a team of Marines to investigate. What they find is not the Aliens, as some of you may have expected, but something else altogether. A new species of subterranean mammalians whom they hadn't encountered previously emerges from underground and, due to being excited and curious about the world above, begin rampaging throughout the surface for several miles in all directions destroying forest land and devastating the local flora in their quest for food. One area in particular where these creatures end up is another subterranean pocket exposed by their  eroding of the land by uprooting several trees and chasing after small groundhog-like creatures which they view as prey.

This new pocket sports a black gooey substance covering the walls and strange eggs spread out everywhere covered in a layer of condensed fog... And that's when the fun begins.

Our characters will erect a barrier against these large subterranean mammalians to protect their crops and homes, and will begin to set the Marines loose on them as they don't seem to sport much armor making them easy to deal with. The Marines close off the tunnels from which the creatures emerged and declare it a no-go zone. But by the time the detachment to close the mine comes back, something is going wrong at homestead. One Marine was brought back from the purging efforts outside the barricade with a strange creature on his face and is rushed to the medical bay where they kill him attempting to take it off. They run scans and discover the now dead embryo of an Alien in his chest, analyzing it and determining that this little "face hugger" and the parasitic creature it placed in his chest are a threat to the natural world.

They issue a mandate for the Marines to wear protective masks to prevent them from being infected by the parasites when venturing beyond the barricade, but this measure (and several others) are not enough to prevent the newly discovered species from infecting a handful of other scientists who weren't able to return to the safety of the barricade before being caught by a group of the parasitic organisms.

And so we begin our story proper as the Aliens erupt from the bodies of their hosts, now prepared to propagate the species and prepare the Queen's Egg for its new host body as it waits patiently in the nest site deep in the forest beyond the borders of the colony's barricade.

And so we begin.

We will all be playing either a Marine or a Colonist, as the Aliens and the Predator (yes, one Predator) will be NPC's.

As Marines, it will be our character's jobs to protect the colonists from falling prey to the Alien Hive which has begun the first stages of its expansion by preying on the local fauna to boost its numbers and produce Runner and Drone caste members who alternate between expanding the Hive's presence and hunting for the right host to use as a host for the Queen.

As the RP begins and as it advances through its story we will continue encountering new types of Alien castes to keep things interesting and keep our characters guessing and on their toes.

The Predator of this RP is an Elite of the highest caliber, and his basic information is as follows:

Sex: Male

Age: 676 Earth years

Height: 254 cm (8' 4")

Weight: 200 kg (440 lbs)

Weaponry:

* Tempered Wrist Blades - don't melt when doused in xenomorph blood

* Tempered Net Mines - safely captures and constricts xenomorphs and other life forms

Speargun - Fires long barbed projectiles which open inside the target to decimate internal organs

Bio Mask - The classic mask of the Yautja species, complete with over 30 vision modes

* Upgraded Active Camouflage - A higher grade and more efficient version of the Yautja cloaking technology

* Tempered Shurikens - Tempered throwing disks with long razor-like clawed extensions which automatically return after 2.5 seconds

Tempered Combi-Stick - Tempered extendable fighting staff for close quarters combat; can also be thrown like a javelin

* Bisected Plasmacaster - The classic shoulder-mounted plasma bolt weapon of the Yautja species; double barreled to fire two bolts at up to two separate targets

This Predator (Yautja) has come to this world upon the release of the Xenomorph specimens from their pocket beneath the surface of the planet. The Predators had been monitoring this hive ever since they discovered the nest, and because of the size of the nest they declared it too dangerous to serve as a hunting ground and did what they could to prevent the nest from being exposed to invading host organisms. The humans setting the rampaging mammalians free has put a hole in those plans, literally, and now this Elite is here to clean up the mess before it gets out of hand and return the Hive to its dormant state.

Why not just nuke the nest?

It's dishonorable to kill those who cannot defend themselves, no matter how dangerous they may otherwise be.

This Predator, whom I will refer to from now on as Edge, is also on the hunt for something else while he's here. Another being lurks on this planet, and he has tracked it here after many years of searching and he's not about to let anything get in his way of bringing it down. The fact that it landed on this planet as well makes Edge's job that much easier. At least that's what he thought when he arrived in his pod. But the presence of the humans and the growing numbers of Xenomorphs now have him on high alert. His hunt is just beginning, but he's already beginning to think that perhaps he should call for backup. He may be an Elite among Elites, but he's no fool to think he can handle this kind of Hive alone if it manages to get up to speed.

Not only that, but he has plans to punish the humans for their folly once he's dealt with the Hive.

So we have Xenomorphs lurking in the shadows and a souped up Predator with a vendetta against those who set the Xenomorphs free and a grudge match waiting with another being who has landed on this world... Could our situation get much worse?

Well, yes. Yes it could. And it will.

I have big plans for this RP.

If you find yourself interested please tag me in a greeting message!

Once I make the RP I do not want to see random submissions to join from people I haven't heard from. If you have not tagged me in a message here informing me of your interest in joining, and you submit a request to join the RP, I will ban you from joining for failure to follow this simple direction. Please don't make me do that, as I will accept no excuses or "I'm sorry! I didn't see that part until just now when I reread it!" messages. If you didn't read this short paragraph and understand my rather simple process for joining the RP properly, you aren't ready for the RP and I don't want you in it. Cold, I know. But it's the honest truth. Simple directions like this one leave no room for excuses from dedicated and skilled role-players.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to meeting my fellow AVP fans very soon!!

@ChoShadow I would be interested in joining the RP even if it hasn't taken off for the 9 days it has been up. If you have abandoned the RP then a sign of it would be helpful.

The RP is still up and open to new members interested in joining.

Thanks for the interest.
