Fandom Avatar: The Last Airbender

While Amu was helping her mom she couldn't help thinking about that dream. "Hey mom?" Amu said. "Yes dear?" Her mother answered back. Amu thought for a min and said "Um did ever wonder if you were meant do something but didn't no what it was? Like you were meant to do something really big and important like destiny was calling your name." Her mother froze and looked at her daughter and said. "Why do you ask?" Amu looked at her mom and said "Well I had this strange dream. There was this voice and it said "The time has come. You must begin your journey." Then it said "It's time to wake up Amu your destiny begins now". What do you think that means?" Her mother knew what it meant but didn't want her daughter to know all Amu's life her and her husband kept it a secret from her. Amu was the avatar and there was know way they were going to let daughter get hurt. Her smiled turned to her daughter and said "Sweetie it's just a dream it doesn't mean a thing ok don't worry about it your meant to stay right where you are safe from all of the evil in the world. Now you go ahead and hang out with your friends ok?" "ok mama" Amu said. She got up and went to look for her friends.

"Thank you."

Removing a small pouch from one of his pockets, a gloved hand would dip into it's depths to remove two gold coins. Handing it to the cook, he got a response regarding his food, which was to be ready in fifteen minutes. To kill time, Jayce figured that he would walk around the marketplace to see just what the Fire Nation had to offer. His feet would lead him down the strip a couple of times, but eventually didn't find anything that caught his eye. There were scroll shops, food stands, toy shops, convenience shops, weapon shops. None of these places of business had anything to offer Jayce. On his way back to the establishment he had stopped by originally to get food, however, Jayce would encounter an event that would ultimately cause his intervention.

There were four men, one of which was currently attempting to take a woman's knapsack off of her back. She was putting up a but of a struggle the entire time, but by the time Jayce actually caught on to what was going on, it was too late. One of the men, a fire bender, sent a fist that was engulfed in flame into the back of her neck, knocking her unconscious. Not able to particularly see her body drop, Jayce heard it; in response, the cloaked figure jetted off toward the group of men, running as fast as he could toward them. There was about a hundred feet between them, but it wasn't a particularly long distance. It could be traversed quickly.

While the group of men were going through the backpack, Jayce hopped into the air, using his momentum to continue moving forward through the air. Twisting his body around three hundred and sixty degrees, he would send a spinning roundhouse kick into the face of the closest man to him. Since his back was facing Jayce, his foot slammed into the cheek of the fire bender. This caused him to completely fall over, his face skidding into the dirt for a couple of feet. The other three men were stunned momentarily, but it wasn't long before they all attacked. Fire benders were so hostile, sometimes.

Lifting his hands up to his face and keeping them open, Jayce got into a muy-thai stance. He bent backwards slightly to dodge the first punch that came from directly in front of him, before hopping up into the air to dodge a blast of fire which surged two or three feet onto the ground - coming from the left. His feet landed on the ground, before he began his offensive attempt. A gust of air sent the man in front of him barreling backwards, tumbling along the ground upon landing before his back slammed through a huge wooden pile belonging to a merchant's hut, causing the tiles on top to fall upon his frame. His right fist found the man's face on the left, then he immediately ducked; the other man's fist missed his head and surged into the face of the other fire bender, breaking his nose and knocking him out.

Shifting his feet slightly while he kept low to the ground, Jayce sweeped the final fire bender, causing his body to fall. Before he hit the ground, however, Jayce stood up fully - raising his arm as well as his outstretched hand from the ground into the air in the process. This caused the man's body to lift into high up into the air, about eight feet off of the ground. As the last of the group of fire benders tried to straighten himself out into the air, Jayce punched the air in his general direction with his left hand. Then, he did it with his right. This continued a couple of times, at an extremely fast pace. As a result, hard gusts of air began slamming into the body of the fire bender; the first three hit his torso fiercely, causing it to jerk back each time. The rest carried the man off into the air, sending him into the distance. Eventually, gravity took his body down; but Jayce wasn't able to see where. He was far gone.

Looking upon the men he had just taken down was a particularly hilarious sight, at least for him. One had his face practically buried into the ground along with his knees, which rested on the same surface. His bottom protruded into the air, causing it to be one of the funniest KO positions that Jayce had ever seen. Another was buried in tile, and the third was bleeding profusely from the nose, having been hit by his own man. What a mess. Was this how the fire nation trained their people to fight?

Jayce's feet eventually led him back to the female, who was still unconscious on the ground. He kneeled beside her, his fingers grasping the fabrics belonging to her backpack which lay on the ground a couple feet beside her. Placing it on the ground in front of him, Jayce removed a rolled-up paper filled with tobacco from his pocket. The young man put one of the ends between his lips and stood up, warning one of the locals who had stopped to stare at him in awe about her presence, asking him to watch her. He agreed and even provided the flame for the end of his cigarette before he began to walk off.

Owain was about to whip out some ice-water and begin to fire away but the Olive-eyed woman stumbled once first then collapsed much to his surprise.

Vallery was on her first but Suka seemed to know better what to do, he let her press cooling water on the stranger's forehead and skip-jumped a little ways away so he had bending room then drew over a large fist of water from the ice tent. The extremely short yet fat snake of crystal clear water swam between the trees and wound itself into as perfect a ball as you were going to find then he brought his hands together quickly shooting one up and the other down, the ball stretched both ways to follow and the outside froze solid in the shape of a cup that sloshed with near slush-water.

Owain came over to the new girl, and dropped to his haunches so he could offer her the refreshment. She had tried to look up but did more just lolled her head back and forth before letting it sing back down.

"
Better get this into before you pass out again," he pressed a little sterner with the ice-cup, "I'm.. Raemus but everyone just call me Rae,"

His older brother's name, Owain didn't think he would mind his borrowing of it not that he thought he would everr see his brother again but what if he did get ticked..

Well whatever, cross that bridge when we get to it,

Nichole feels an ice cold cup pressed up to her lips. She feels cool, refreshing water reach her dry lips and she opens her mouth just enough for water to trickle in. He feels the water trickle down her throat and into her digestive system. She takes a deep breath and then she hears a voice. Some one saying their name is Raemus. Nichole flicks through her mind, trying to find any similarities with the name but he finds none. She opens her eyes just barely, she feels them shaking. He finely gets a good look around her. The same fire benders are all leaning over her. One is applying cold water to her head. Another is the supplying her drink. The last one is standing supervising it all. I don't get it. These people are fire benders but here's on of then applying water to my head with water bending and another supplying me a drink with water bending. What's two water benders doing in the fire nation dressed as fire nation people? Confused, Nichole furrows on her eyebrows. She opens her eyes all the way and looks around as best as she can.

Vallery raised an eyebrow at Owain, mouthing, "Rae?" But she turns her head back to the earth bender, finding that she is waking up. Vallery smiles a bit, introducing herself, "Hi! I'm Vallery, a fire bender." Vallery watched as the other two water bent. Vallery's eye's showed obvious awe, thinking, wow... their so delicate.. with their water, I mean.. and what's an earth-bender doing out here? She looked around, Vallery trying to see if the other earth benders that were chasing her earlier were around, but soon returns her gaze to the waking girl.

Amu's mother walked up to her father and said "she starting to have dreams do you know what this means?" The father looked at her and said" Yes I do I told you one day this was going to happen and mark my words very soon her destiny as the avatar will begin" The mother sad sat next to her husband and started crying not knowing what the future held in store.

Nichole listens as the true fire bender reveals her name. Still debating on whether or not to give her real name, Nichole just looks around, taking in any possible exits if necessary. Seeing no harm in revealing her name, "I'm Nichole, and I'll leave it to you to figure out what I am." She states, being half friendly and half protective never did any one any harm.

Owain let the girl drink her fill then set the cup down near her, it was sweating already. She had opened her eyes wide this time and was actually taking in her surroundings.

An earth-bender cleary and they could use a rock magician, hard defense and brick-train for offense if she was good. They had to be careful who they trusted though this was not his land,
trust your instincts and follow the flow, the floooooooow

A smile tried to creep onto his lips as he reminisced of a season of his life not so long ago.

"
You good?" Owain got to his feet and regarded Vallery with a wave and turned towards her, then mouthed the words 'The hell are we going to do with her?'

"Yes, thank you for asking, Rae." She watches as Rae/Owain mouths something to the fire bender Vallery. He squints her eyes suspiciously. If they planned any sneak attacks all she had to do was her favorite move. There's nothing better and more simple than her rock ball. She smiles to her self as she tries to sit up again. Straining, she make it. She crosses her legs as though she was in a meditating stance. Getting an even better view of her surroundings, her green eyes float around. Getting bored of just sitting there, Nichole slowly stands up, careful to no fall over again. With one quick motion of her hands, she swipes all of the dust off her body from the hard, dry ground. But it was still ground. Missing the soft grass from her home city, she plays around with a few pebbles as she makes them twirl around each other and then fall down to the ground.

Vallery shrugged to what Owain mouthed, not knowing what to do with her. "Umm, we were about to head to the town, soo.... we'll be going now,you can come to, if you want... they have medical buildings there, and food stores... soo..." Vallery shifted on her feet, not really knowing what to do in this awkward situation. Vallery started walking to the town, hoping Owain and Suka would get the hint to follow. Vallery walked slowly so the earth bender could make up her mind, but still kept walking.

Owain sighed, gave Nichole a shrug as he trotted after Vallery.

"We could use someone of your talents," he shot a look back, but only the one.

"We figured we'd adopt new names y'know? little less Water-Tribe-ish and a little more.. brazen," he talked in a low voice so even if someone approached they shouldn't be able to hear.

"I know what the town has. I've been there." Nichole replies as she watches the fire bender walk off. Deciding that a group of 4 people is better than an unstable lone earth bender, she follows. As she walks she keeps an eye out for multiple emergency exits, careful of who she's with. After all, she is in the fire nation. The place where she was born and yet where her mother died. The world was funny like that. Lives being taken and made in just a matter of hours. Who knows, she might even die here too like many others. Or maybe her father would.

Suka was relieved the girl was okay. She gave a sigh with smile following it. She stood up as the stranger did. When the girl introduced herself as Nichole, Suka bowed in greeting. She didnt say anything, she was shy at first but opened up to Owain and Vallery quickly as she knew she needed allies, she had no choice but go come out of her comfort zone and talk to them and eventually befriend them. But now that she trusted them, she was more weary about others. She followed them and kept her lips shut as she just listened. She tilted her head up and raised an eyebrow toward Owain,"Why did he change his name?" She thought but he explained that since theyre in the fire nation, they need new names to go with their new identity. She thought for awhile for her own name,"Azura," she thought to herself but visibly nodded as well.

As they walked, she played with her snow white hair, a little worried it would give her away but she discussed and agreed with herself that she was trying to start a fashion trend, that was her story. She pulled off a little ribbon that was in the dress and tied into her hair on the right side of her head. She gathered a lock of white and tied the ribbon and let it dangle. She gave a little giggle as a sign that she was happy with it. She put her hands together and interlocked her fingers, letting her hands and arms hang infront of her near her legs as they walked.

Suka was quiet, and because of that, she was very observant, and because of THAT she had a very short attention span. She looked around and took note of the way the way the trees looked, the sounds of the creatures that inhabit it.

Once they entered the town, Suka, who trailed in the back, jogged a little closer to the group. She looked around and observed the towns people. She never realized how out of place she felt until she entered a fire nation village. "I dont like this..." She whispered more to herself than the others. You could see the nervousness from her face and body language. Her deep blue eyes darted around.

The town was smaller than he had hoped and still coming to life around the foursome, shop keeps pulled stock out onto their shelves while a few women ventured down to a nearby pump carrying clay pots.

The smell of fried bacon wafted through the humid air mixing with the din of the village people, a couple of lithe youths brushed pass kicking a ragged leather ball around the street. A nervous sweat broke out down the length of Owain's spine,
Now I know how I rabbit feels walking into a den of wolves..

They needed food, water, maps and a money so he figured the sooner he found some work the sooner he could get some coin flowing into his pocket.

"
Alright we should split up so we don't waste more than today," A familiar flow of red hair bounded across the street catching his eye, Claire's hair followed her around a kebab stand and disappeared. "I think I can get some work going here, we could always use more coin anyway," He eyed the kebab clerk, a dumpy little man with a crooked noise that smiled a toothless grin at the passerby. A rumbled bellowed from Owain's stomach and he flushed realizing he hadn't eaten since.. since had been at sea and he was huuuungry now.

Nichole follows, remembering her fire nation name. Rae mentions something about splitting up so she questions "as two and two or all seperate? I'm guessing by the little ones young apprearance and her hair she doesn't know her way around a fire nation village."

"Sp-Split up?!" She jumped at Owain's suggestion,"Are you crazy???" She lowered her voice to an almost whisper so that only they could hear. She twirled her shoulder length white hair with her finger in nervousness. She looked at the others wondering if they agreed with this idea but seeing as Owain already took off, she heaved a sigh followed by a mumbled,"Great......". She stood there in the middle of the town with the other two, not really knowing what to do.

Watching as Rae runs off, Nichole sighs and looks at the other two. "I feel as though the little one should not be by her self."

Vallery nodded at the earth bender and suka. "Yeah, you two stick together. Call me if you have trouble with anything." Vallery gave each of them 40 coins and vallery saved the 20 coins to buy maps. Vallery waved to the two as she dissapeared into a crowd, attempting to make her way to the map shop. Vallery sighed in relief as she walked into it, and looked at the maps available.

Suka jumped at Nichole's voice, she didnt know her very much, but since they were paired she had no choice,"I-Im not hungry..." And just as she said that a small, low grumble erupted from the depths of her belly. She hung her head in embarrassment,"M-Maybe a little..." Besides the others needed food to, since Owain was working on getting more money, and Vallery with the maps, it was only wise the pair should search for food.

"Get your kebabs here! Fresh and taaaasty like my momma used to make! I know your hunger is fierce ladies and gentlemen but try to form an orderly line!" The fat little man with his toothless grin beamed uninhibited into the slowly growing crowd of people from his perch on a feeble looking crate.

Owain skewered a couple beef cubes that had been soaking in olive oil then some yellow peppers and a red then repeat until skewer is full, it was simple and easy work just so hot having to work over the fire in such outlandish heat already.

He sighed and put a handful of kebabs on a wire grate sitting atop a couple of logs over a healthy fire,
Even the food is hot.. this place will be the death of me before I even get to fight, he shook his head a little while twisting the kebabs one by one on the grill. The kebab salesman, Hojo or Catfish(to his friends), came off his makeshift platform to check up on the cooking. He smiled and went back to his sales pitch which suited Owain just fine.

"
Fancy that, the outlaw is a kebab cook," A familiar voice brought Owain's attention up to the counter, the girl from the beach that bandaged him up had appeared and was now leaning over the counter peering at him.

"
If i'm an outlaw then you're an accomplice, aren't you?"

"
Yeah just go ahead and tell some soldiers that I helped you out, then again it's been so hot this past week fires have been just breaking on their own it would be such a shame if you had an accident Mr. Cook.."

"
Do you think Yin and Yang are scared of one another? and it's.. Raemus,"

"Oh well excuse me then, you must be able to handle yourself pretty well then.. Raemus? you really think fake names are necessary?" She snorted and dropped her forehead almost to the counter, the shock of red hair bounded freely as she jerked her head back up.

"
What? no.. how did you-?"

"
New names and new clothes don't change the colour of your skin my friend, you get into a water-bending stance when you feel threatened too, nice haircut by the way,"

Owain flushed at the comment, she made him feel stupid and stupider with a verbal 1-2 punch.

"
My name is Owain then, my brother was Raemus.. You want something by the way or are you here to give me fashion tips?"

Claire paused and pondered on whether or not this was the real name.

"
Okay Owain, purty name for a purty boy, i'm Claire and I live just down the street" She chuckled from behind her stupidly big grin, Owain was taken aback which made her laugh more. "Awww did I make you uncomfortable? by the way my 'fashion' tips will save you trouble and maybe even keep you alive,"

"
Well then why are you helping me? why did you help me before?" She was playing at something and it pissed him off, there was some end game for her somewhere in this he just didn't know where.

"
That's a secret but I will tell you that you can trust me and you will see again,"

"Heya young miss what kind of kebab are eyeing up eh? the veggie skewer is to die for and it will keep your figure intact! no hip fluff or calf crowding with these puppes!"

Clair straightened up and wiped with the grin off her face as she turned to the little man and started for down the road.

"
Oh yeah I almost forgot those 'fires' are probably going to get bad around here before sunset," She shrugged nonchalantly and disappeared from view as fast as she had come in. Owain's face still flushed, more-so from the heat than embarrassment at this point.

"Now I can't blame ya' for chattin' up the pretty girlies but if you burn anymore skewers you're done, those are coming out of your pay,"

Owain just noticed the dozen extremely well done kebabs that sat on top of the grill and sighed heavily. He ate every single one of them thinking about what Claire meant by the fires being bad here at dusk,
We have to leave before the sun goes down.. That much is clear.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
The lunchtime rush hour bled into the early afternoon and Owain managed to keep the rest of the wares from getting crisped long enough to get a little sack of coin, lighter than he would have liked but money none the less. Catfish waved goodbye to Owain and thanked him for helping during the rush and invited him to come back tomorrow a little earlier to open but he refused, he had places to be unfortunately.
Owain wandered around fairly aimlessly not sure which food stand the girls would have done or if they would be out looking at maps or..
No, yeah maps.. Food would have been first, best stuff for the early birds so they have to be mapping our route.
Lucky enough there was only the one in town and he found it easily enough, he could see Vallery haggling with the clerk over an old parchment with what looked like the Arctic North displayed on it. He pushed into the store and was blasted by the smell of mothballs and old leather, it was a strangely nice smell.
"
Hey Val, how's the navigation business these days?"
[[OOC; Everything above the squiggles is more or less fluff for Owain's character so you dun have to read if you dun want, felt good getting a nice long post out after taking some time off though
After the kid and Nichole grab enough food for another week or two, the two head off to try and find Vallery. Remembering that she had said something about going to a map store, Nichole and the kid walk around looking for one. Finally finding it, they spot Rae walking into the store. The two walk into the store. "Hey Rae. Hey Vallery." Nichole says with a small smile as she walks up to the counter with the other two.
Suka unconsciously followed Nichole, lost into the world of the meat bun she was nibbling. She was focused on it so much, she held on to the back of Nicholes shirt. Her back pack felt a little heavy from being packed with food, but food was loved by her so much it distracted her from complaining. A sudden burst of heat (even hotter than outside) hit her and she looked up, seeing that she was in a shop with Owain and Vallery. She stopped eating for a moment and gave a very quiet,"Hey guys" and continued to eat.
(By the way wolfette, shes 17, just really small x3)
Owain, Raemus! can't forget.
Raemus was leaning over the parchment map, his village wasn't there which made sense considering how secluded they had become from the rest of the Water Tribe because of the everstorm between them. Not even the town was represented.
Then he heard the door creak open drawing his attention instantly, Claire had put him on edge earlier not that he'd want to admit it. But it was just Nichole with Suka in tow carrying a large rucksack he hoped was full of food.
"
What's going on girls? Get anything good" Raemus was still pretty full from his platter of skewers he had burned, but a snack wouldn't hurt.
"God this heat though.. Vallery I don't think you help that none, no offence,"
