For the second time Owain had to grin to keep from chuckling, racist? he never considered that before but it yeah he was being kind of racist, i'm sure there's another word for bender specific or rather an element specific bender specific -ist word that sounds like it fits.
He wiped the look of his face as Vallery shifted into her bit about the fire soldier's family, he hadn't considered that either to be honest. Before he was taken he never really though about the war since the Fire Nation rarely came up far enough North to see his little village of no more a hundred or so families, half as many were water-benders. Suka spoke of the Northern Villages like they were desolate arctic prairies but maybe that was all she saw, Owain however had to be buckled down to be put down to bed.
He remembered the shock of polar bear swims in the bay that he and his friends would dare each other to do when they weren't building forts of snow and going into all out wars, it got even better when they began bending. Once in the warm spell before the cruiser appeared, Owain took no special pride in this however he was by no means ashamed, a snowball the size of dog's(polar bear dog's) head rocked Soto Minimura dead in the face knocking him off his feet and out of consciousness. A front tooth and two week road rash that covered nearly the entirety of his face later Soto bowed out of the usual wars after that but they would makes jokes about a few weeks laters.
"More or less the same way I got here, it's a shame you never had the opportunity to be a real Water Tribe girlie.. Were you chief's daughter or something?" Owain gave Suka a smile, the best he could fake anyway and he was no Capital City Player. He let his gaze fall back on Vallery, a black sheep it would seem, but he supposed only time would really tell once the crap hit the fan.
"Okay maybe I had you pegged wrong, i'm sorry.. really," He kind of was, but not really. Another grin as best as he could plaster it, somewhere in the back of his skull someone decided to start hammering away dully.
"Would I be a bother if I asked to join you Team Avatar's hunt? I can't say i'll stick around for very long.." Not if he was anywhere near Capitol City, no he wouldn't be able to stop himself then.
"I'm a good cook if you can stomach the grub from up North, seafood is best food after all,"
