Fandom Avatar: The Last Airbender

For the second time Owain had to grin to keep from chuckling, racist? he never considered that before but it yeah he was being kind of racist, i'm sure there's another word for bender specific or rather an element specific bender specific -ist word that sounds like it fits.

He wiped the look of his face as Vallery shifted into her bit about the fire soldier's family, he hadn't considered that either to be honest. Before he was taken he never really though about the war since the Fire Nation rarely came up far enough North to see his little village of no more a hundred or so families, half as many were water-benders. Suka spoke of the Northern Villages like they were desolate arctic prairies but maybe that was all she saw, Owain however had to be buckled down to be put down to bed.

He remembered the shock of polar bear swims in the bay that he and his friends would dare each other to do when they weren't building forts of snow and going into all out wars, it got even better when they began bending. Once in the warm spell before the cruiser appeared, Owain took no special pride in this however he was by no means ashamed, a snowball the size of dog's(polar bear dog's) head rocked Soto Minimura dead in the face knocking him off his feet and out of consciousness. A front tooth and two week road rash that covered nearly the entirety of his face later Soto bowed out of the usual wars after that but they would makes jokes about a few weeks laters.

"
More or less the same way I got here, it's a shame you never had the opportunity to be a real Water Tribe girlie.. Were you chief's daughter or something?" Owain gave Suka a smile, the best he could fake anyway and he was no Capital City Player. He let his gaze fall back on Vallery, a black sheep it would seem, but he supposed only time would really tell once the crap hit the fan.

"
Okay maybe I had you pegged wrong, i'm sorry.. really," He kind of was, but not really. Another grin as best as he could plaster it, somewhere in the back of his skull someone decided to start hammering away dully.

"
Would I be a bother if I asked to join you Team Avatar's hunt? I can't say i'll stick around for very long.." Not if he was anywhere near Capitol City, no he wouldn't be able to stop himself then.

"
I'm a good cook if you can stomach the grub from up North, seafood is best food after all,"

"Chief's daughter?? By the spirits no! Girls just arent allowed to use water bending other than use of healing. My bother would help me with bending for fighting, he did it secretly...." She said.

Suka got excited when he wanted to join the team. She nodded and looked at Vallery,"I dont see why not?" She smiled. She took a quick glance at the sky, and noticed the darkness of the sky began to turn a light purple. Dawns approaching. She focused her attention back down the earth, to Vallery and their new friend. "Im sure the others will be a little weary of you at first but....its just being cautious~" she smiled at him, her blue eyes sparkling from excitement. Her smile turned into a grin when he mentioned cooking,"I wouldnt mind a meal that reminds me of home~"

Vallery opened one eye and looked at the stranger. "Sure, you can join, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to be called 'that one guy who tripped over vallery', so what's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"vallery Sat up and looked at the others, sleeping peacefully. "Also, we have to stock up on food, cause I eat a lot, since fire benders ' burn' a lot of calories" Vallery smiled, drawing a map in the dirt, of the nations and their territory owners. "We should head to water tribe first, I heard the avatar might be a water bender."

By the spirits indeed.

He shot Suka a thumbs up even though the chances of finding giant sea crab or seels in the Nations was between zilch and zero.

Owain chuckled at Vallery's quip about burning calories and watched her set out at drawing a fairly decent looking map of the Fire Nation,

"
Mr. that one guy that tripped over Vallery thank you very much," He plastered on his 'good vibes grin' as he had taken to thinking of it, no wait Earth Nation too and- nope all of them the whole dang world. A water-bender eh? so there was some evidence this guy, or girl he supposed it sounded as much anyway they, have been around somewhere, doing something that involves watching out for themselves and flipping us the proverbial 'Bird'.

"
Owain, I like to think it suits me," I shrugged, sometimes he felt like a 'Dale' but that was besides the point.

"
North? or South first?" Owain shot the fiery, fire-bender his 'good vibes grin' and let that drift over to Suka. Seaweed wraps and grilled fish would be a poor substitute for a true Water Tribe meal but hell it would be good and maybe they'd find something when they got food and supplies.

"
Can.. we really just walk into town?" His water tribe gear was dry, musky, but dry and even if the coat was burned off in the back it would be easily recognizable.

Vallery grinned, looking at owain. "Or is it Mr.owain?" Vallery looked in the direction of her town."secretly, my town helps bypassing people, no mater what bender. So they would be glad to help us. Plus, my towns near the coast,so that means sea food, also, owain, I know as much about the 'north and south' of the water tribe as suka knows ba sing se." Vallery said with a small giggle.

"Yay, back to the water tribes -o-" Suka sarcastically and monotonely said.

She turned over to Vallery,"Fire Nation troops dont visit your town? Id hate for your people to get in trouble because we're wearing blue, not to mention my parka has a big Northern symbol on the back of it!" She tried to turn a little to show it. "Just wouldnt want to spend my second day outside of the water tribe in a scary, hot, metal fire nation prison!" She looked at herself and at Owain, "We do stick out like blue thumbs ._. In a sea of red..." She shrugged.

Owain looked at Vallery then back at Suka and vice-versa a couple more times before shrugging it off, that seemed the lesser of weird things he had heard in the waning dark of the early morning.

No we'll have to risk it, I don't know if I can trust her or Suka's judgement for that matter.. too naive and innocent to know better, his thoughts bounced about unhindered as the girls debated the pros and cons of going to town. They would have to, of course they needed food and water. Some new clothes wouldn't hurt either and that was the first thing he planned to buy, Crap, the soldiers on that carrier took all my money..

Owain broke his thoughts and looked up at the girls decided on the only reasonable course of action they could take.

"
Okay let's grab an inn, get some new clothes.. real low key then we can shop around for the day and get some real rest in a real bed before we go gallivanting out into the wild blue yonder," seemed like a cut and dry deal, a milk run even if the town was hostile Suka and he could hang back while Vallery bought clothes.

She'll probably sell us out there if she's going to.

Vallery examined suka's clothes. "We can go to the town together, and once we are half a mile away from it, I'll go alone, get fire nation clothes, come back with money and clothes, then we all go to town, getting food and items. Also, we will need different names for each town we go to, so if we get in trouble everyone will get confused. Yet, hairstyles will also have to change if we get in trouble.... or we just don't disguise ourselves at all." Vallery stood up, and left the ice tent, doing a hand gesture to follow.

Suka stood up, excitement and thrill filling her bones,"This is exciting! A top secret espionage mission where our heroes have to hide with a secret identity!" She didnt hesitate to follow Vallery, this is the adventure shes been looking for her whole life! She looked back at Owain and grinned,"C'mon!" She called and continued to follow.

As she walked she thought about what her alter ego's name would be, if they stuck with that plan. Getting distracted, she looked up at the sky once more,"This is perfect, dawn is barely approaching, so only shop keepers who are opening up will be there to set up their stores. Now we're less likely to be seen since almost everyone will be asleep!" That was probably obvious to everyone, but Suka was excited she had to announce it, but as they drew closer, she became quieter, not wanting to give away their position.

Owain got up slowly and worked out a cramp that had been itching at his calf, the muscle gave way and relaxed as Suka called back to him.

He dusted off his pants and cantered on after the duo to catch up before slowly his gait to a leisurely stroll, a breathe of wind caught the great, green canvas above them with a long, rolling rustle that rippled through his hair(more so on one side than the other) but his thick clothes kept it's own pocket of hot air inside and would no be disturbed.
Little warmer than home, he thought watching a hawk whistle through the endless blue that poked through the foliage.

"
Yeah we're pretty lucky actually, might be that I can get a little training in before our shopping trip.. and an odd job after I get suited up," He hated having to bum money off a stranger, let alone a girl. Let alone that she was a fire-bender, A bloody fire-bender! do not. I repeat, do not. forget that. He wouldn't.

Owain shot a glance back, saw nothing but trees and kept a leery eye in case they were ambushed while he kept the rear, no rest for the wicked and in this country he was one hell of a wicked guy. That made him smile, genuine good vibes grin this time. Being a fugitive felt freaking good, sticking it to the Fire Lord and beating some soldier scum into pudding.. except they weren't all bad he knew that. Damn.

Vallery hummed as she watched horizon, waiting for her town to appear as they walked, and it did. As they kept walking, vallery estimated they were a half a mile away. Vallery stopped and turned to the water benders. "Ok, we are about a half a mile away and this is my call to go alone and come back, then we all go. I'm going to get back as fast as I can, so you don't have to wait for an hour, ok?" Vallery didn't really wait for a response, and started a quick run, waving a hand behind her, yelling, "WAIT THERE!" Vallery made her way to the town quick enough, and thanked life the shop store was open. Vallery walked into it, first things first, they could all get more clothes later, but for now vallery bought a red dress with white fluff on the bottom, and it looked cute and seemed to be able to fit on suka. She had no idea what owain wanted, though. So she just got a dark red shirt and an orange robe, with lighter red pants and brown boots. Vallery got suka comfortable white shoes, because fire benders noticed the style of a water bender.

"Okay~!" Suka's voice chimmed. She looked around for something to keep herself occupied in the mean time. She had a cheery smile as she got down on the ground and sat to wait. She looked back at Owain,"This is exciting, isnt it?!" Her smile grew. She looked at the ground and picked the grass, trying to make a large pile for no reason but to kill time. She peeked back at Owain, talking to someone one on one was a little scary, they have no one else to listen to but you and its easier to make silly mistakes. Suka decided to try and make small talk,"So...um....D-Dont you think its kind of cool that...that fire benders make fire from themselves?" She chose something totally random.

The hawk ducked in and out of view hunting a seagull, they must still be fairly close to the coast.

Owain, distracted by his bird watching, almost bumped into Suka ducking to the side narrowly as Vallery explained she was going to the village for heir guises and skipped off without missing much more than a couple beats.
Spirited, that one is, he thought while taking quick sweep for any waiting soldiers or banditos but none were around this morning, too early he figured.

Owain reached for the hilt that plugged his sealskin pouch,

"
This is exciting, isnt it?!" Suka commented while creating a grass effigy "So...um....D-Dont you think its kind of cool that...that fire benders make fire from themselves?"

He danced a finger along the hilt's bottom considering how he might respond, of course that head roused a kernal of hate and anger seeded in his belly but that wasn't her fault.

"
Yeah I guess.. My nana used to say they could call thunderstorms and redirect the lightning bolts at their foes,"

The pouch was unplugged now, the blade-less sword in one hand and the other drawing out a blob of water the size of a short, fat snake no wider than Suka's arm. Owain plugged up his pouch again and froze the water into a big ice crystal.

"
Sounds pretty terrible but.. we have the trump card, you should know that,"

The crystal turned to snow and began to wind it's way to Owain, snaking around his arms and legs and into his clothes coating his entire body.

Suka stopped picking at the grass. She turned her body to watch Owain. He mentioned a trump card, and at that, Suka lifted an eyebrow in response,"Trump card being the Avatar..?" Her voice sounded like she was clarifying than asking a question. She watched his movements closely.

Vallery began walking back, 112 fire nation coins in hand. Vallery saved up a lot of money, and she helped around a lot, earning extra money for herself. Vallery honestly hoped she could earn their trust, tension was still sensed toward vallery, her being a fire bender. Vallery walked back to their location, humming a bit. Vallery sighed, but then stopped. She thought she heard something... fire nation soldiers? Vallery glanced behind her, and saw earth benders, weapons in hand. Vallery backed up, noticing they were following her. Vallery panicked, gripped the clothes and money tight, and ran back to where suka and owain were. Vallery glanced behind her, and the earth benders were gone. Vallery calmed down and saw suka and owain, walking towards them with clothes I in hand.

Nichole looks around from the outside of her cave that was her home for the night. The fire nation had some beautiful scenery, that is what ever isn't burned to a crisp. To be honest, Nichole hated being here. She never felt safe, the air was in a complete dry heat, and to top it off, she was in the nation of basic murders. The only reason she's been trenching through this Satanic place was to find her father. If that's what she should even call him. More like her sperm donare. She squints her eyes out into the land. Sighing she heads back to the cave, grabbing her stuff. She then exits the cave. Then, she molds a giant square boulder to mark where she's been. Raising small beams from the ground, she jumps from her ledge as though she was in a parkour game. Finally she reaches the outskirts of a small town. A fire town. Feeling no interest, she smooths down her disguise, a red shirt that has black trim and a pair of black training pants. Flipping her hair to her back she walks away from the town and into a forest near it.

Soon Nichole spots a pack of armed earth benders. Rolling her eyes and remembering her disguise she goes around them. But not before noticing another female. One that also seems to be avoiding them. Never truly agreeing that her weakness was her curiosity, she still follows the female.

The snow became ice, clear at first then frosted from the dropping temperature which in turn dropped Owain's core temperature giving him the chills. The Ice-Warriors meditation or Aisu's Blessing, the method behind the madness was the adrenaline rush, the shock-rush of energy mixed with overall numbness and a mild confusion that gave the Ice-Warriors(whom were mostly killed or captured from his particular village) he melted the ice, the snow and bent the water forward into a fat snake again.

He chuckled at the idea of finding the Avatar but regarded Suka with shrug,

"
Maybe, us specifically though haven't you ever heard of blood bending? I-i'm not sure but I think I can, I did once by accident but you can bend so maybe, just maybe you can to-" Owain froze, there was something coming quickly. Someone was approaching quickly and making notable noise so he dropped the water to the ground keeping control of each drop as it hovered in the hairs of the grass.

It turned out to be Vallery so he bent the water back into his pouch, it was the only water he had left from the Northern Water-Tribe and he wasn't going to let it go like that.

"
Val," Owain skip-jumped over and stole the red and redder outfit she bought along with the orange robe,

"
Not bad, with these maybe I won't sweat out my own bending source," He chuckled to himself a little and shot Suka a look, Water-Benders can make water but it's never going to be glamorous.. but sometimes survival wasn't glamorous and that was just the way it is.

"
But thanks really, this is.. actually not bad," Owain felt the shirt's fabric which was light and practically drank the air, he knew it would be a death knell when they went back home but that was a problem for another time so he went behind a nearby tree to change.

The pants were a little big but he cinched up the waist with the drawstring and rolled up the bottoms a couple of times to compensate. The shirt was a perfect fit while the robe dragged slightly though he thought the frayed look would make him seem more dangerous so he went with it.

"
So think I can pass for a local?" Owain stepped out from his tree tugging at the collar of the shirt, he hated how new shirts always scratched the back of your neck and this one was like the frigin king. But he was loving that air. That's when he looked up and saw a young woman appear behind Vallery with off green eyes that sparkled in the morning sunlight,

"
Val? Uhhm.. another stray? or?" his hand found the hilt-plug.

"Blood bending..." Suka thought,"Actually i have--" she was interrupted by Vallery's entrance. She looked at her and greeted her with a small smile,"Welcome back~" she took the clothes from Vallery,"Ooh this is cute ^u^" she walked a little ways away from them to change. Once she was done she fixed her hair a little after being ruffled from clothes being taken off and being put on. She walked back out to Vallery and Owain. She gasped when Owain pointed out the new stranger and quickly hid behind him. She looked up at him from behind,"Fire bender?" She whispered, clutching her water tribe clothing in hand...

Nichole almost immediatly realizes that she was just walking in plain sight. She kicks herself mentally as a stunning young man with curly dark hair spots her. She sees that all of the people are wearing fire bending clothes. She widens her eyes and bites her lip. "Hello there...." She says as she plops her hands down back to her sides right after she raises them.

Vallery smiled, but when owain said someone was behind her, vallery turned, and shrieked at the sight of the girl. "Who are you?!?" Vallery backed up, not believing she didn't notice her. Was that girl with those earth benders? Vallery didn't know. She seemed fire bender, but something was different about her.

Nichole sees the shocked faces on all of the trio. She closes her eyes and tries to keep calm. I'm perfectly fine. Just surrounded by a bunch of hostile fire benders. Her breathing deepens and she's almost gasping. Suddenly the heat coming from the fire nation air hits her. Her throat feels like it's tightening. She slowly re-opens her eyes. Her vision flows and blurs. She feels dizzy and everything becomes a blur. Nichole falls and hits the ground hard. The thud echoes through her body. He closes her eyes and looses consciousness.

"The time has come. You must begin your journey." a voice said. " Who said that?" asked Amu. She was alone and she wasnt sure where she was. "It's time to wake up Amu your destiny begins now" said the voice. "Wake up now wakeup" "Amu!" Amu screemed and saw her mother looking at her. "Did you not here me it's time to get up you have laundry to do come on." her mom said demandingly. "Right." Amu said confused. What was that dream? She thought to her self. "Oh well guess I better get up." She got up and got dressed and ran out side.

Vallery blinked, but then ran over to the girl, checking her temperature. She passed out from the heat, and Vallery knew she wasn't accustomed to the heat, so she wasn't a fire bender. Vallery looked at the others, "She passed out!" Vallery murmured under her breath, thinking, "If she was a water bender, she could of took in in the moisture, so she's not a water bender. If she was a fire-bender, she would have been used to heat... and an air bender would have been fine, to. So she's a earth bender!" Vallery said the last part exceptionally loud, and came up with an idea. "Hey, what if you used water and splashed it on her face? It would wake her up," Vallery said, not knowing where water benders get their water, if they make it or take it, she didn't know.

"No! Making up someone from unconsciousness so quickly could put them in a coma!" Suka moved her hair out of her face came out from behind Owain. She went to the girl and kneeled beside her. Since they werent far from the ice tent, Suka called over some of the water from it after melting some of the ice back into its liquid form. The water surrounded her hands, almost like water gloves and she placed her watery hands at the temples of the girl's head. The water began to glow a bright silver with hints of gold,"Shes definitely dehydrated," by placing the healing water to be in contact with the girls body, she could cool her down with the healing water. "We should have some drinkable water ready as soon as she wakes up..." Suka looked at Owain. She removed one hand, and placed the other on the earth bending girl's forehead, cooling the water bit as a substitute for a wet rag.

Nichole feels cool water on her forehead but can't move. The water feels refreshing and she hears voices talking but she can't make out what they are saying. She tries to respond but it just comes out as a groan. He still can't see her surroundings and her eyes won't open. Nichole hopes that everything will be fine and that she'll wake up soon but she can't shake the fact that she's surrounded by a bunch of fire benders. And by now they must know that she's not really a fire bender. After all, what kind of fire bender passes out from heat. Nichole sits and lies there until she can control the smallest movement in her body. She tries to move her fingers but there's just a small tremble. She feels so weak. She feels as though gravity has been increased and it takes so much more to move. She tries to sit up but barely just raises her head before it falls back down.
